In view of the very complimentary comments Klopp has made about Arsenal's Martinelli (sp) in the past, are we looking at him as a possible future signing? Do you know what his contract situation is?

He is playing same position as Diaz, so despite what Klopp have said, it really doesn’t make a lot of sense to even think about currently.

OP, Klopp talks about players he likes in glowing terms all the time. It does not mean he wants to sign them all. An besides, Martinelli is not anywhere near good enuff for where LFC is right now, IMO.

A bit of a showpony but maybe Klopp could air a real player out of him.

Jota and Naby are no where near good enough apparently and he signed them ?.

Klopp is just like that. He's nice about other players. There's been a few duds he has praised to the skies too (I won't list them because I do not want to appear to be Klopp bashing, which I'm not) . Let's just leave it at that.

Eds
Now the rush of incomings is over (! ), would it be possible please to explain a couple of things to me that I don't really understand.

1 Bearing in mind the club made it known at the beginning of the summer that it was looking to loan out Rhys Williams, why did it seemingly take until tea time on the final day to sort it out? Is it because of negotiations over the details or would it have been sorted out long ago but left subject to various things falling into place (such as Phillips not being sold)? (I am interested in the general practice rather than the specifics of this case. )

2 Why have we signed Phillips to a new contract? I recognise that the amount you can get for a player falls as you get towards the end of the player's contract but, when a club seems to be willing to sell a player if a decent offer comes along, why do they offer a new contract when such an offer does not arrive? Will it tend to be an improved contract from the players' point of view, or will it actually involve the exclusion of terms that make it easier to sell him next time. Again I am interested in the general thinking rather than the specifics of this case.

{Ed002's Note - 1. It is important to find the right club, and ensure the player is looked after correctly and given opportunities. 2. Because interested sides saw him as too expensive to buy.}

re Flannagan

Part of the issue with him was fitness and it looked like he survived a year of training without significant injury because he seemed to be on the bench every match. But virtually no game time, so we don't know whether he is able now to game after game after game; he wasn't before he left on loan though.

On quality, yes he wasn't able to replace the incumbent right-back but, if that guy was playing well and keeping his fitness, that is a hard thing for a loanee to do.

I hope Klopp takes a long hard look at him before selling before before his injury I always thought he did well going forward.

Ed023: New LFC signings are invariably pictured leaning on something, hence redmax's comment.

{Ed023's Note - I know cheers, totally forgot about it when editing the post}
