SKY Sources in Italy: The €75m deal of Alisson Becker to #LFC is near completion. [DiMarzio].

1.) 18 Jul 2018 11:36:38
If we get him this would be some defence lad's.

2.) 18 Jul 2018 12:00:59
Barry, I agree 50%. We have making of a good defence with TAA, VVD and Robbo. Lovren is great on his day but partial to a mindfart. Matip isn't good enough, like wise clyne and Moreno.

Baz.

3.) 18 Jul 2018 12:29:41
Just like Fekir, deals can take a u turn at any point
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. just yet.

4.) 18 Jul 2018 12:29:57
Let's just wait and see boys. Hopefully the addition of a top class goalie will make everyone more comfortable and sure things up defensively. I think the addition of Fabiano will be a big help in front of that back four too.

5.) 18 Jul 2018 12:30:19
It's not looking too good for Bogdan future at LFC at the moment lol
But it's great show of ambition by the club. I think we are going to get Fekir as well and we all done
Can't really wait for the new season
#ynwa.

6.) 18 Jul 2018 13:05:59
Fabinho!

7.) 18 Jul 2018 13:38:21
Baz, surely by that logic, you agree 80%? 4/ 5?

Medred, I think he already knows, in his digs in Hibs!

8.) 18 Jul 2018 14:11:46
Jeez, Alisson AND Fekir and we have the best first eleven in the PL.

9.) 18 Jul 2018 15:00:59
Yes Fabinho. Ducking auto correct!

17 Jul 2018 16:29:49
Well, Well, Well.

Sky Sports: Liverpool have DENIED making a 70m euro bid for Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker after reports in Italy suggested the two clubs were in talks.
Sources close to Liverpool have told Sky Sports News that there has been NO bid and NO approach for Alisson.

1.) 17 Jul 2018 16:57:47
Really?!
Some people have absolutely "ZERO" patience

Just cause a "rumour" is floating around, doesn't mean it will immediately happen

It's a rumour, it may or may not.
Get out and enjoy the sun!

2.) 17 Jul 2018 17:06:51
No they haven’t.

3.) 17 Jul 2018 17:11:27
Kopend its raining where i am.

4.) 17 Jul 2018 17:30:44
The key thing with all of these "reports" is the terminology.

"sources close to Liverpool" told Sky Sports they have not bid for Alisson.

Sky Italia reported:

"Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport Italia is reporting that Alisson is “close” to a move to Merseyside.

Il Messaggero reported this morning that the Liverpool offer would be €60m plus €10m in bonuses, with Sky's Fabrizio Romano confirming a total €70m offer. "

Nothing is direct from Liverpool here.

So let's just wait and see.

5.) 17 Jul 2018 17:32:47
Get the slip and slide out?

6.) 17 Jul 2018 17:40:24
You heard it here first straight from the horses mouth neeiiiggghhh.

7.) 17 Jul 2018 18:08:29
I don't see any comment from the Edds so it a no!

8.) 17 Jul 2018 18:20:31
there are plenty of journos close to lfc that haven't rubbished it but posted it themselves. bbc are pretty reliable and don't publish unfounded rumours. i imagine with courtois close to RM. lfc have finally made a move with roma realising LFC won't pay 75m. RM not interested. Alison prob not interested in europa.

9.) 17 Jul 2018 18:22:15
Be sad to see Klopp lying to the players again with Ward and Karius been told to fight for 1st. Regardless of the quality of karius and what not.
I'd like to see Ward a bit more!

10.) 17 Jul 2018 18:32:48
This story will drag on a while methinks. Personally, I don’t think we’ve bid. If we were to move for a number one, he would be the best choice but that’s purely basing it on what most people say here. That he is spectacular. I only saw him in Cl and World Cup but that’s hardly enough to make an educated decision.

11.) 17 Jul 2018 18:44:20
Where's the interview where Klopp tells us Ward is going to be number 1 choice 🤔.

12.) 17 Jul 2018 21:41:26
Reusch, the Ed’s have previously mentioned that he has told ward and Karius they are both fighting for the no1 spot.

1.) 17 Jul 2018 16:40:10
Ive read that too, don't remember all the shouting though.

2.) 17 Jul 2018 16:40:36
Keeping the betting market open for punters to take a shot on chelsea.

3.) 17 Jul 2018 16:49:24
Carragold you nailed it mate.

4.) 17 Jul 2018 16:58:50
They also claimed we ended interest in Keita last season and would not sign him at all look how that changed.

17 Jul 2018 14:56:43
Sky Italy: Liverpool in talks to sign Roma and Brazil goalkeeper Alisson [Kaveh Solhekol]

Liverpool have overtaken Chelsea on the race for his signature - AS Roma waiting for a last effort from Liverpool to match the €75M price tag, current offer at €70M.

Let's hope we get this done!
Fingers Crossed!

1.) 17 Jul 2018 15:15:52
James Pearce, Chris Bascombe and Neil Jones all confirmed that we made a bid of 62m GBP.

I've been watching Allison play in CL and WC, don't see him much of an upgrade to Karius but he certainly has the confidence and distribution that Karius doesn't have.

When we spent 75m GBP on VVD, boy did he transform our defense with his Rolls-Royce display. Allison seems to have the Rolls-Royce swag about him.

2.) 17 Jul 2018 15:38:46
Holy crxp Batman.

3.) 17 Jul 2018 15:42:14
Bbc confirm the 62m bid.

4.) 17 Jul 2018 15:52:29
If we sign him I think I'm legit going to go into cardiac arrest! Fingers crossed!

5.) 17 Jul 2018 15:52:32
Alisson is class, top top class. I really hope we sign him but hold your horses everybody, nothing is done until it's done. I love the news but let's not forget the Fekir situation a few weeks ago, it was done and then it wasn't etc etc. Let's keep our fingers crossed for this one and see what happens.

6.) 17 Jul 2018 16:09:05
Shocked to see offer for Alisson, I wondered if that's the money gone for Fekir!

7.) 17 Jul 2018 16:42:40
Red_Ed_88 I think we're more in need of a quality goalie than another midfielder so you could be right. Although I do have my doubts about Alisson, especially for that price.

11 Jul 2018 22:47:09
David Maddock; "Fekir met Lyon president at World Cup - pleaded for chance to still join LFC. Aulas agreed to revive talks. @LFC no interest in deal on previously agreed £53m terms, may be persuaded by restructured terms. @OL lining up Ziyech as potential replacement"

Fingers crossed on this one!

1.) 11 Jul 2018 22:53:44
Steer clear of players who have suffered acls.

2.) 11 Jul 2018 23:00:10
I've read this myself fingers crossed 👍👍.

3.) 11 Jul 2018 23:34:42
He will be a Liverpool player by the end of the window.

4.) 11 Jul 2018 23:44:16
Who is this David Maddock geezer, is he just another ITK who’s not ITK?

5.) 11 Jul 2018 23:52:13
Imagine wanting Shaqiri but not Fekir 🤦‍♂️.

6.) 11 Jul 2018 23:53:55
There have been players who have recovered and played well after an ACL, And he is one of them. I understand the payment structure wanting changed for risk purposes because that's the club trying to hedge their bets but if klopp believes in the player we should take him, if he was unfortunate enough to get another ACL injury he's young enough still to get over it imo. How has his fitness been since he came back from it?

7.) 12 Jul 2018 06:59:03
Lol Yankee Red, I know mate, you couldn't make it up!

8.) 12 Jul 2018 10:19:33
Van nistelroy (spelling) had an ACL the year he was meant to join united. he seemed to recover well enough. the technology they have now as long as the healing process, physio and then strengthening of the muscle around the knee is all A1 then the knee will be good as new.

9.) 12 Jul 2018 10:21:08
Only about 10% of players who have ACL surgery have a reoccurrence, the majority come back just as strong as they were before and have no higher risk.

Just look at Shearer, Xavi, Pires, etc.

10.) 12 Jul 2018 12:11:14
its not the reoccurrence that is the problem. its that they are never the same player again. lose their pace. that list is endless.

11.) 12 Jul 2018 13:45:42
but fekir had his best year yet after his ACL?

Bits from the press conferences of Messi, Piqué and Valverde ahead of tomorrow's Copa del Rey final against Valencia.

Messi: "I do not think about the Golden Boot. I am still recovering from what happened in Liverpool.
A double (la liga + Copa del rey) is very important for the club, for us. But the year is tarnished by Liverpool. "

Gerard Piqué: "The game at Anfield against Liverpool was one of my worst moments as a professional football player. "

1.) 24 May 2019 20:04:35
No need to hear them say it, really. We could see how devastating that defeat was for them and the ripple effect it caused for the whole of Catalonia. I take a lot of pride in what we accomplished and I respect the Barcelona players for being very sincere about what had happened to them at Anfield and how it has affected them.

23 May 2019 08:20:18
Reds,
If the manager feels that Firmino isn’t running at 100 per cent come next Saturday, how will you setup our Attack?
A. Origi in place of Bobby (same setup)
B. Origi on left, Mane right and Salah in the middle
C. Mane upfront
D. Any other formation

Please share your thoughts!

1.) 23 May 2019 09:27:31
Ye origi with mane and salah.

2.) 23 May 2019 09:37:01
Origi up top for me, they don't have the full backs to cope with constant pressure from Salah and Mane and i think that's how we will get in.

3.) 23 May 2019 10:40:44
D. Tell all 3 of them to switch it up throughout the game so nobody knows who to mark.

4.) 23 May 2019 10:43:56
Agreed Alex. Firmino is a game changer and I so hope he will be fit but if he's not I'm not worried, we have Origi who is also a game changer, bang him up top and he'll do the job for us. This is something this time last year I wouldn't of been saying but he's proved time and time again that he can step up in important games. Good on the lad.

5.) 23 May 2019 12:25:39
Pretty confident Bobby will start as will Robbo

Full compliment other than Naby all being well

Bench should be strong

If we play to our potential we get number 6.

22 May 2019 20:58:00
If Liverpool win the Champions League, the players should celebrate by walking away from the trophy then darting back and lifting it. No other way.

{Ed025's Note - they could always join hands and run to the supporters and dive TRK, oh wait...they done that when they got a draw at home against WBA the other year..

1.) 22 May 2019 22:10:11
We could always copy how Everton last celebrated a trophy but that would be so last millennium.

{Ed025's Note - ooooh touche squizza, we dont have any trophies mate...but we have kept our dignity..

2.) 22 May 2019 22:21:51
Bit like when the Evertonians popped a blue flare when they thought they’d got a draw at Anfield until Origi had other ideas .

{Ed025's Note - that had very little to do with origi toon, we were the better side until pickford had that brain fart mate..

3.) 22 May 2019 23:00:13
I don’t get why rival fans don’t understand that was the team thanking the fans for not giving up on them and not celebrating a draw with WBA.
It’s juvenile! People will try to spin anything to try to have a go at Liverpool these days. Perhaps if your manager tried to get the fans a bit closer to the team Ed they might try a bit harder and not be also rams every season. Just a thought.
I had a Spurs fan trying to mock me today because we got 97 points and didn’t win the league. 1st place losers he said. So what does that make them? Title chasers with 2 months left but finishing 4th 26 points behind! Absolute waster bottle jobs if you ask me!

{Ed025's Note - i have to have a defence mechanism becker and to be honest i have not got much to beat liverpool up with mate, please dont deny me a little bit of self indulgent pleasure mate..

4.) 22 May 2019 23:21:24
Hey Ed025! Didn’t Everton lose at home to West Brom that very same season? 😜.

{Ed025's Note - but thats not the point CM, it was the cringeworthy factor that brought a smile to my face mate.. :)

5.) 23 May 2019 02:01:59
Atleast we saw it again against Barcelona ed025!

{Ed025's Note - you did liverbird and it won me a few bob so i was just as happy as you mate.. :)

6.) 23 May 2019 04:04:42
we didn't dive 25, more of a cha cha line celebration. Its the little things in life that are worth celebrating. you should know :)

{Ed025's Note - i would call it a faux par rather than a cha cha faith.. :)

7.) 23 May 2019 08:22:25
Faux pas.

8.) 23 May 2019 09:30:01
Haha it was cringy. . . but I loved the passion anyways!

9.) 23 May 2019 09:58:08
He was trying to unite us! and that he did!

10.) 23 May 2019 10:47:45
I hope Firmino looks the opposite way when they pass the trophy to him.

11.) 23 May 2019 09:11:37
Fair play Ed I know it’s all banter but the more people say it the more it’s thought of as the truth and that’s just not the case. I just had to put my 4 penneth in there! ;-)

{Ed025's Note - alls fair in love and football becker, if you give it you have to take it mate...thats the rules.. :)

12.) 23 May 2019 06:51:15
Ed025, you still wondering when Fred Pickering's record is ever going to be broken, aye?

{Ed025's Note - i cant see it john...unless i get my boots back on mate.. :)

13.) 23 May 2019 19:17:36
Touché ed25. touché.

22 May 2019 07:58:49
Have your say Reds,
In the midfield, which of the four that are fully fit misses out on the starting XI for the Champions League Final?
A. Milner
B. Fabinho
C. Wijnaldum
D. Henderson.

1.) 22 May 2019 09:11:02
That's a difficult one mate! If I had to pick I'd say Milner.

2.) 22 May 2019 09:32:14
Tought call, but I would say Milner. He's a great one to come off the bench.

Gini is in good form, Fab is a definite and I like marauding Hendo.

If Hendo tires, I'd actually bring on the Ox.

3.) 22 May 2019 09:38:29
Very difficult. Fabinho should def start. Gini has been our best midfielder this season so deserves his place.

Hendo if he gets near his end of the season form then he should play but if it is the Hendo from the rest of the season it should be Milner. Be even harder if Ox and Keita were fully fit.

I just trust Milner more so I go with him and let Hendo get 30 mins from the bench.

4.) 22 May 2019 09:48:41
Fabinho, wijnaldum and henderson for me.

5.) 22 May 2019 10:05:04
I'd start the same team who started against Barcelona at Anfield (especially the midfield and defence) with the exception of Salah coming in for Shaqiri. I wouldn't even bring Firmino back in for Origi, or Gomez in for Matip.

Matip and Origi are in sublime form and don't deserve to be dropped for players coming back from injury and lacking match sharpness. Just my opinion though, because I don't see them in training every day! I'll back whoever Klopp starts with ultimately.

6.) 22 May 2019 10:11:14
Gini I’m afraid but someone won’t play
Up the pool.

7.) 22 May 2019 10:16:31
That's a big call MK.

The midfield can't be Hendo, Milner, Gini because it doesn't work.

8.) 22 May 2019 10:41:24
Tough one, happy whoever is picked to play. If I have to choose to leave one out it would be milner, bring him on to clam us down when we r 2 up.

9.) 22 May 2019 10:55:41
Milner and then use his experience from the bench.

10.) 22 May 2019 11:01:51
I was going to ask a similar question TheRedKop to the peps here. It is a really tough one in my opinion. But I think Hendo is a definite starter. Not sure who the other two are going to be. I think I am leaning towards what Roro1892 says.

11.) 22 May 2019 11:25:05
Wijnaldum for me. He was amazing coming off the bench against Barcelona and we may need the energy and tenacity of the other three in the first half against Tottenham.

12.) 22 May 2019 12:35:39
Good post and a tough call to make given the good form of the midfield, personally I would go for Wijnaldum, Fabinho and Henderson. With Milner coming off from the bench as a reliable experienced option as legs tire or if needed tactically. Spurs are a team who will also have large amounts of the ball. We will need the technical ability of Wijnaldum, Henderson's energy and Fabinho's ball winning skills to stifle Spurs very own energy and possession. It will for sure be a tactical battle. I'm not sure both teams will play an open game given what's on the line.
For me it is a one off game that could go either way. I think we have the edge purely as we have the experience of knowing how it feels to lose a final. For sure this should be added source of motivation to the squad.

13.) 22 May 2019 12:36:19
That's tough. Fabinho had to start. We always struggle without him and we haven’t lost when he has started. He will be vital to win the midfield battle vs Spurs.
Start Milner, Get Wijnaldum in as a sub, he’ll be angry at Klopp again and ready to go for it. Scores 2 in 2 mins again.

Good headache this is.

14.) 22 May 2019 12:43:31
dont over think it. fab, gini, hendo gives us everything we need from our misdfield. Milner will be great off the bench covering lots of different roles and responsibility depending on game situation.

15.) 22 May 2019 12:52:37
They will all get to play some part in the final if there all fit so no big deal.

16.) 22 May 2019 12:53:23
Aslong as Fabinho starts.

17.) 22 May 2019 13:23:06
Gini for me, with hendo and Fabinho. Firmino has to start too, he’s our best striker, and we need our best team. Yes origi did amazing against Barca, but he was quiet against wolves and probably isn’t as fit as bobby, or offer as much l. Good sub to have.

18.) 22 May 2019 14:11:30
Milner coming in fresh off the bench feels like it makes a lot of sense to me:
Need to create a goal - bring in Milner
Need to see the game out - bring in Milner
Need someone to take the deciding penalty - you guessed it, Milner!

Although he is like the Energizer Bunny, I think Gini and Hendo can play with a touch more intensity to get at Spurs and wear them down early on.

This all being said, I won't have any complaints whoever starts - don't remember last time I could say that about the midfield in seasons past!

19.) 22 May 2019 15:05:26
Great question, and a good problem to have for us. I would sit Millie on the bench- he has not been in as amazing form as the others these last few months and can also come in to cover either of the full back positions if needed. That said, any 3 of these 4 is a good option - bring on Tottenham already.

20.) 22 May 2019 15:48:33
Can't believe peoples overreaction with origi showing a slight improvement in his form. Im not one for bashing a player but just because he has scored a couple of important goals hardly means he is in "sublime form". Origi is not a top player, he never will be a top player and for people to be saying that he is the kind of quality we need be it from the bench or to push the current foward players is beyond me.

21.) 22 May 2019 16:10:34
It is a big call, but Bobby won't have started a game for about a month by the time we get to the final. Without seeing how his body has recovered in training, I can't advocate starting him in a cup final. Klopp has that luxury though.

I agree that midfield trio doesn't work though mate. that's why i think we should keep Hendo, Fab and Milner. We will need Hendo and Milner's leadership, but I also think Wijnaldum is the best option for impact off the bench. Those first 15 minutes off the bench Barcelona had no answer for him. Plus this is the main club Trophy that has eluded Milner in his career so far so I bet he'll be fired up for it.

22.) 22 May 2019 16:19:00
I'd go with bringing Milner on from the bench in the second half.

23.) 22 May 2019 18:02:48
Yea you're right we can't see who is doing what and what stage of fitness they are at. If Firmino is undercooked then I agree he shouldn't start. Firmino plays best when fully fit. I also agree with you on Milner I think Klopp trusts him.

Brandt £22m I just can't get my head around that.

24.) 22 May 2019 18:29:49
I'm expecting it to Milner that's left out, but he'll almost certainly come off the bench.

As for Bobby, he missed 3 games, is it? If it wasn't for the gap between the last league game and the CL final we wouldn't even be thinking about him being unfit or undercooked. He'll be fit and he'll start. Yeah, he won't have started a game in a month, but everyone around him won't have started a game in 3 weeks, so he shouldn't be behind them in terms of sharpness.

25.) 22 May 2019 19:16:50
I disagree, MK. Bobbie if fit and ready to go, PLAYS. Origi has been brilliant this season not just thru his goals and assists and contributions off the bench and starting, but mainly due to his fantastic mentality and work ethic. A true team player.

Having said that, Bobbie is THE brain of this team. The glue to EVERYTHING we do so if he is fit, he MUST play and besides, he is a nightmare for Spurs and has been since he arrived. Just my opinion.

26.) 22 May 2019 19:49:38
Fab, Gini, Hendo. Fabinho was a game changer when we beat them at Anfield. The midfield were struggling at the time and Spurs looked the more likely. Same against City in Jan, as the game wore on, they took control of midfield, then on came Fabinho and we wrestled the intiative back, I know we lost in the end but we look more dominant with him in there. Must start I reckon.

27.) 22 May 2019 20:04:22
Fab, Gini and Henderson. Fab is a physical presence and can control the game, Gini and Henderson can get about them with their energy and running.

28.) 23 May 2019 00:43:10
Firmino has to start ahead of origi. His overall game offers much more than origi and that front 3 has to play.

17 May 2019 07:54:20
Ed001,

Have you ever felt like our squad is always a player short?
VVD got delayed (for whatever reason)
Fekir or Fekir-type still pending

2017-18: we were amazing going forward but the defense kept leaking goals. VVD was the missing!

2018-19: We missed a forward/ AM like Fekir when our front 3 three were going through a bad run.

And I am not using hindsight here as these were the players we were already looking at but they got delayed.

{Ed001's Note - every team can always say that. Man City had no left back all season.}

1.) 17 May 2019 12:01:12
Spot on, Ed. That is sports in general. No matter how good you are, you always feel that there is something you can improve on or there is someone you can bring in to improve a poaition or two. As Klopp said, "it's how it is".

2.) 17 May 2019 13:02:43
Ed, not every team can say they are a player short, come on! United can say they were a left back, right back, two centre backs, a leader, a defensive midfielder, and attacking midfielder, a goal scorer, a right winger, a manager, a DoF and a chairman short. Don’t see them moaning.

{Ed001's Note - fair point.}

3.) 17 May 2019 14:14:19
Even with a world class squad 1 of the 11 has to be weaker than the rest so unless you have the n1 in every position there is always room for improvement.

4.) 17 May 2019 18:29:30
Brilliant, Firmane.

Gareth Bale : "I've got three years left on my contract. If they want me to go, they'll need to pay me €17m per season. If not, I'll stay here. And play golf, I will. "

Effectively Klopp added a couple of million to Danny Ward's value by "making him Liverpool's number 1" for a few days.

That's business.

We're losing our number one goalkeeper to Leicester.

From being 3rd choice to being No.1 and now a possible transfer in a matter of few days. Things change fast in football.

They should cancel the Qatar world cup and move it to Azerbaijan.

Thanks for the read, Ed.

{Ed001's Note - good idea.}

Good job by BVB recruitment team. So the quick 3 signings all have been in place since early last season once Pulisic sale was agreed.
No messing about. One leaves the replacement is already secured. And it's been the same for years now.
Great way to run a club!

Hi Ed,
Just a couple of suggestions!

1. Can we have the badge next to the username instead of profile pic? In my opinion, that way it will make more sense because as of now it's getting mixed with the profile pic. Also in case of contributors, who don't have profile pics this badge appears to be the profile pic.

I mean in the current scenario, a new visitor on the site will hardly notice the badge thing. Therefore, having the badge on the right of username will certainly catch more eyes and that might tempt a few to get one!

2. Can you make the badge background transparent (. png image) just like Eds profile pics.? That will look more professional and cool in my opinion.

What's your take on this?

Thanks!

{Ed033's Note - Yes, Ed091 is deciding how it's going to go
