Guardian reporting we are in for Zaha. Any news Ed's?

TheKloppEnd

{Ed002's Note - I am not the one to ask about Liverpool transfers.}

1.) 30 May 2018 18:14:18
Believable, he could be the cheaper option to Malcolm or Dembele if we are going all out for Fekir and Alisson!

{Ed025's Note - cheaper option zed??, its estimated that palace will want in the region £60m mate..

2.) 30 May 2018 18:23:32
Crikey Ed025! (best Penfold impression)

Well then I hope we go after Malcolm or Dembele!

Wow, just wow!

{Ed025's Note - i thought the same to be honest zed..

3.) 30 May 2018 18:26:05
Still think that the Utd mess with him was in part about not travelling well, if that makes sense, I can't see a move to Liverpool working out either. Would have thought Spurs are most likely, much as they don't need him.

{Ed025's Note - doinking the managers (moyes) daughter never helped the lads cause either freshst..

4.) 30 May 2018 18:37:35
Are there any non-high profile players in which Liverpool holds an interest (beyond just scouting)? All the talk is about bringing in these players that cost well over £50m, and that’s great that the club is finally able to follow through. But if the biggest issue is squad depth, than surely we are looking at some others as well - rotation players? Or is this where Klopp sees youth coming into play?

{Ed025's Note - following through is not really a trait to be proud of in england yankee mate.. :)

5.) 30 May 2018 18:56:38
Tackles are always dangerous in the box, especially the bosses daughters 😬.

6.) 30 May 2018 18:56:51
60Mil for Wilfried Zaha? 😵.

7.) 30 May 2018 19:04:34
I’m not sure zaha would suit Liverpool seems to me he likes being a bit of a lone wolf rather than team player.

8.) 30 May 2018 19:17:30
Malcolm would be better than both Dembele or Zaha as he can actually shoot and pass.

9.) 30 May 2018 19:32:17
60mil is obscene. Zaha is OK like but wow that values him as a real top talent, which he simply isn't. Don't imagine any team will pay close to that much.

10.) 30 May 2018 20:10:55
Ed025, Liverpool's cultural Ambassador to the USA.
Next stop the Court of St James, haha.

{Ed025's Note - love it juicer..

11.) 30 May 2018 20:16:48
please say zaha is a joke! : ( ( No where near good enough imo.

12.) 30 May 2018 20:45:28
Palace have every right to ask that for him though, they didn't win a game without him. He's the difference primarily between where they are now and the championship.

02 Mar 2018 12:16:48
Seen this morning the papers have jumped on the possibility of Marco Reus joining in the summer. I must be sceptical but I feel as this is just rumours created from the fact Reus celebrated in the week like Mane and Firmino. Eds I'd love you to tell me I'm wrong, any interest?

TheKloppEnd

{Ed001's Note - I can't tell you anything about what the papers have said as I don't read them, but I trust you are correct that they have said it.}

1.) 02 Mar 2018 14:36:00
reus has become the new gotze! very talented player but like gotze he has suffered from a lot of injuries.

2.) 02 Mar 2018 15:40:59
Not sure Reus would be a priority to LFC.

Goalkeeper 1st
CM 2nd
CD 3rd

Anything else comes after them positions.

3.) 03 Mar 2018 07:00:40
Whether the rumours are true about reus it got me thinking that 4 years ago we would have taken reus in a shot. Now he wouldn't get in the side, that shows progress.

4.) 03 Mar 2018 09:58:06
There are a number of factors as to why I don't think we would make a move for him:

1) His injury issues are awful, he has struggled badly for fitness and it has affected him as a player.

2) The position he plays in is absolutely not a priority.

3) His price is still likely to be prohibitive despite his injury woes and we could simply find better ways of spending that money.

4) Klopp said he would not go back and raid his former club - so far he has not broken that 'promise', it seems unlikely he will do so in future.

It's likely a recycled story rather than anything new, the newspapers have got to print something so on quiet days the old links come out again. I'd be genuinely shocked if we did sign him and, to be honest, I hope we don't - a massively injury prone attacker whose transfer fee, wages, etc would be astronomical and who is a shadow of the player he was years ago.

5.) 03 Mar 2018 22:29:32
TheKloppEnd, I knew a bloke once that danced like my ex missus! Does this mean Im going to end up sleeping with him?

6.) 04 Mar 2018 19:12:29
All this silly talk about signing Reus really does get my Götze.

Reports this morning Eds that we have made a bid for De Vrij after deciding that VVD is too expensive. Any insight or confirmation?

TheKloppEnd

{Ed002's Note - De Vrij is out of contract in the summer and Liverpool can speak to him about signing a pre-contract from next week. I am not aware of any "bid" at this time. Everyone told me that van Dijk has already agreed the move to Liverpool a week or so ago after Liverpool and Southampton agreed terms - didn't it say so on Twitter? And isn't he arriving on the same boat as the many, many other players who are joining next week? Goretzka, Kovacic etc.? I really don't know what to say about van Dijk. I have explained that there would be the need for the Liverpool owners to withdraw their grovelling apology issued to avoid charges from the Premier League in the summer and a loss of face for them. It would however prove to Klopp that his cheating works. You can try the search engine. I have explained Liverpool's interest in DEe Vrij for a long time - but have seemingly been wasting my time - there are other sides also interested in him.}

1.) 27 Dec 2017 12:06:20
Van Dijk is nailed on for City, so a big for De Vrij would make sense.

2.) 27 Dec 2017 12:24:50
How’s he nailed onto go city? There’s nothing to back this up there in the same boat as us.

3.) 27 Dec 2017 12:35:34
We didn't all tell you ed that VVD agreed to sign a week or so go Ed. A few people on here put it on for what ever reason. We are not all on Twitter were I presume the crap was started, I certainly am not so asked if you had heard anything and you said you would need to ask. I hope everyones posts asking about him don't make it on here as I can't be doing with it all again like last summer and im sure you don't want it.

De Vrij looks decent enough to me and I hope he arrives in Jan.

4.) 27 Dec 2017 13:25:25
He’s hardly covered himself in glory the first half of this season though has he . I was a huge fan of VVD but can’t say I’d be fussed if he went elsewhere now.

5.) 27 Dec 2017 13:36:47
i thought i read that de vrij signed a new contract not so long ago.

{Ed002's Note - Twitter perhaps?}

6.) 27 Dec 2017 15:31:10
The reason that VVD is nailed on for City?
(1) It’s very well known that City want a centre half.
(2) They are very very interested in VVD.
(3) Southampton have apparently decided to cash in on VVD, but are extremely reluctant to deal with us.
(4) City can pay the transfer in full up front which aside from any other issues makes them a far more attractive proposition to Southampton.

It’s obvious to most observers that VVD is highly unlikely to join us.

7.) 27 Dec 2017 15:45:08
So he’s nailed on bec you’ve made a load of reasons up😂.

8.) 27 Dec 2017 15:49:46
Think it will depend on where the player wants to go. Who he will find a more attractive offer for himself. He might of choose us in the summer but who knows how he feels after our summer debacle.

9.) 27 Dec 2017 16:29:10
So even after Eds explanation people still think its a case of the player choosing us!? Get over it people its not happening full stop and no way the club are withdrawing there apology.

10.) 27 Dec 2017 16:54:36
Ed’s haven’t said it can’t happen but that we would have to withdraw are apology and mend bridges with Southampton I’m not saying it’s going to happen but to say it’s a done deal either way is ludicrous.

11.) 27 Dec 2017 22:34:57
De Vrij would struggle in a team that plays a high line. While he has good anticipation, he is very very slow. I am surprised that Klopp would consider him as an alternative to VVD. They are very different players.

Somehow I feel as if I'm alone in the thinking that we should start Karius next season. Just look at what time and patience can bring when you allow a player to build on mistakes and develop. Trent was ridiculed after the United and Palace game and now looks as if he may even start for England at the WC (if walker is a cb) Lovren too, has has so many calamitous moments since he joined but was immense in Kiev and had been since the Tottenham game earlier this year. Commentary from many fans after these games were as extreme as to see them never wear a Liverpool shirt again but look at how they have bounced back. With the additions to the midfield with Keita and Fabinho we will have a much more defensively strong shield for our defence next year. This should do our defence and keeper wonders as there are already clear signs of development. Karius himself has shown vast improvements this year as well with 10 clean sheets in the league that's only 8 less than De Gea in half of the games. Let's also not forget that he was also technically the golden glove winner for the champions league with 6 clean sheets as well. I'm not saying that fans should forgive him for his mistakes on Saturday but I believe that if we get behind him and sing his name from the kop come the first home game next season he could save us the 70 odd million we would have to pay for an Alisson or Donarumma. Don't forget that De Gea was equally as mistake ridden early in his United career and has painfully become the best keeper in the world. If we support Karius for next season and he does come good as I hope many of you also yearn for, we will have a keeper who will be emotionally attached to the club we love so much. The look on his face on Saturday after the game broke my heart and for him to have the courage to come over to the travelling kop and apologise all in his own I think shows what a character he really is. After all Klopp wouldn't have bought him unless he saw ability and a player who can develop.

1.) 29 May 2018 02:43:28
I just don’t think in terms of the standard we have to set in terms of ruthlessness and quality his errors can be allowed to stand.

Everyone can have a poor game. Trent and Lovren have come back from poor performances. While theirs were in important games, in reality, it was just another league match. And what did they do in the final? They were immaculate and made us all proud.

I do not berate Karius, I do not want to abuse him or hate him, and if there was some way to show my support to him as a human being then I would, but in terms of pure football, it was unacceptable. The reality is, he had very little to do all season, particularly since January since Van Dijk came in. You are defined by what you do in the big games, on the biggest stage of all. We’ve seen players like traore and dudek duke it out with one of the greatest teams ever assembled, and regardless of the result that night in Istanbul their performance would have made us proud.

Karius’ performance wasn’t just bad, it was unacceptable. All the graft, all the work put in by the entire team, undone in a flash on the biggest stage of all, the biggest game in the lives of many of these players, by errors that you wouldn’t see happen on a school playground. That’s a phrase that is often thrown around willy nilly by pundits when used to describe bad defending, but in this case it really does apply. I could have stopped those 2 goals happening. I’m not being paid the average yearly salary in one week.

I don’t wish any bad will on Karius, I want him to have a successful career and put this behind him, but I do not think it can be at Liverpool, that is if he intends on starting every game. He has lost the respect of the fans and the players. You’ll Never Walk Alone will always stand, but it does not mean we should accept the unacceptable, on the pitch or off it. Create an analogy in your own head for your own job, a job which no doubt will be being paid significantly less than that of a footballer, and create said analogy for a cock up on the scale of karius’ at your own workplace, maybe something akin to burning the building down by accidentally causing a fire, or losing your company millions by falling asleep at the computer, or forgetting to replace the fuel rods in the Chernobyl nuclear reactor. All mistakes that any human is capable of making, but unacceptable nonetheless. Jerzy dudek got sold for winning the champions league for Liverpool, what will it say about the complacency of our manager to achieve nothing if he does not act on this?

2.) 29 May 2018 03:29:54
I believe Karius will start in goal next season, I think Klopp has that sort of streak to him where he would back his player rather than be a bit more ruthless and take another approach. Whether that’s a bad or a good thing only time will tell but it’s a huge risk. These types of decisions are the type that can get a manager sacked, how many points have both Mignolet and Karius cost us over there time here. Both mistake ridden goalkeepers and it’s a position of such importance. I personally would be a bit more cut throat and bring in a goalkeeper that’s going to not only challenge Karius for number 1 but take it off him. I’d want Karius to be mentally strong and win it back and if he can’t do that then he was never the right goalkeeper. This isn’t a judgement I’ve made from one game, I’ve said all along I haven’t been convinced by him but I’d give him a chance. And I’ll still give him a chance but I just hope the keeper we bring in to compete with him isn’t butland. We need better, it’s as simple as that. Klopp has now finally identified the need for a defensive midfielder, so he’s obviously addressing some of the weaknesses that needed to be addressed after the final.

3.) 29 May 2018 02:34:53
I disagree. If Karius starts next season with few mistakes, it could do even more damage to his confidence, and career. I think he needs time out of the game, and this holiday hopefully helps and next season, starting on the bench would keep him out of the limelight.

4.) 29 May 2018 06:22:22
I agree with woolback. I bare the lad no ill will, feel sorry for him actually cus he must feel awful. I will support him as long as he stays here but I just can’t see it. Every little thing that happens now will be magnified 1000x because of how things have happened, not just in the final but prior to that as well, and I don’t think the lad can cope with the pressure. Probably best for all parties and the lads own career if we just say thanks, hard luck and go out separate ways.

5.) 29 May 2018 07:02:52
The Klopp End, if the Kop fo song Karius’s name at the first home game, which I doubt, he won’t be on the pitch to hear it. His best case scenario is on the bench.

The David De Gea comparisons are ridiculous. If Klopp picked up the phone and asked me to play in goal as Karius, Migs and Ward were injured and he didn’t trust Bogdan, I’d be digging it my boots and be down at Anfield wicker than you could say Andy Robertson. Unfortunately, I’d be crap, but I wouldn’t be world class in 3 years time either. It just doesn’t always work that way. De Gea was a skinny kid who was roughed up when he first came but had the basics, the technique and the ability. Karius doesn’t have any of them. I feel sorry for him but he will hold us back if he plays.

6.) 29 May 2018 07:08:13
Time out the game? What’s the summer supposed to be for?

To the OP, you’re not alone. I want Karius in goal next season too. He’s too young to give up on because of a nightmare game.

7.) 29 May 2018 07:23:27
I don’t think he players have any faith in him left.

He won’t play for LFC again. Personally I see it as a “mercy sale”. To put him back in that spotlight won’t do him any favours. Let him go and rebuild himself somewhere away from the pressure of the premier league.

8.) 29 May 2018 08:20:09
Even if we won the final his position would still be questioned. I feel sorry for the feller but I think it would be best for him to go elsewhere whilst still young and forge a carrer for himself.

9.) 29 May 2018 08:24:14
All good points, lads. For me, I don't think Karius will be sold and i am confident that he will play for LFC again. Whether the players have faith in him or not, no one knows any of that. In fact, the players have shown to be more comfortable with him in goal cos they know what will happen if a long ball goes over their heads or if they fire a back pass to him, he has the footwork to handle it. Also, he had the most clean sheets in the CL and if DDG is getting credit for the most clean sheets in the PL, Karius should be getting all the credit for his in the CL as well. The rules MUST apply to everyone.

All in all, it is down to Klopp now. If Klopp wants Karius to either be no. 1 or fight for the no. 1 job with whoever comes in, I'm cool with it. That is the attitude we as fans, have to adopt. We may disagree with Klopp on whatever the outcome of this matter will be BUT whatever the case may be, we must back the manager on whatever decision he takes.

10.) 29 May 2018 10:24:33
I believe that as always, Karius's career at LFC will be defined both by whether we are able to bring in a recognised top quality keeper, and whether he wants to stay with us. The only thing that has changed for me is his chance of him saying to Klopp 'I'm sorry I just can't face the fans again, please let me find another club'

11.) 29 May 2018 19:27:30
pay whatever it takes to sign a world class goalkeeper! the club is crying out for one and if we want to win trophies we need one, I just cannot see anyway back for karius.

If we were to sign Trapp after the VVD signing then there is a genuine chance that we can challenge for the Champions league this year. Our attack would frighten anyone in the competition and with a potential back line of Trapp Clyne Gomez/ Matip VVD and Robertson we could have a chance to keep most teams out at the other end. Albeit I do not know whether Trapp is cup tied.

I think it is naive of us to think of the current market as containing stupid prices. They haven't just being created out of nothing. The money in the game now means that it is unlikely that we will ever see the prices of yesteryear. Transfer fees for the likes of Figo, Zidane, Buffon and Crespo were all considered ridiculous but now that money gets you Raheem Sterling. Football is changing in England and we have to adapt to kick on from where we have got ourselves. 5 english teams in the Champions league knockout phase is ridiculous but its only the beginning. Don't be surprised if we see a period of english dominance in Europe for years to come. (Excluding the national side, they will be forever hopeless)

Why is there such negative response to this rumour?
Surely Luiz would be a better option than Lovren and Klavan.
I would understand the frustration if it were an alternative to VVD but if he were along side I can only see it as a positive upgrade to our defence.

{Ed002's Note - David Luiz won't be moving to Liverpool.}
