Real Madrid have bid for Mo Salah €113m. Transfer at end of season?

Tel 1949

1.) 10 Jan 2018 21:58:09
where is this coming from?

2.) 10 Jan 2018 22:07:43
Haha mo shouldn’t be sold for anything less than 200 million pounds . Not that I want him sold haha.

3.) 10 Jan 2018 22:18:12
They won’t sell in January but it will be the saga of the summer, think they might prioritise hazard and Courtois though.

4.) 10 Jan 2018 22:40:13
They can bid all they want but can you see fsg selling! No chance. there would be blood spilled.

5.) 10 Jan 2018 22:48:28
Zidane has said he won't be making any signings this month. I would guess it would take a larger offer than that to secure Salah at the moment.

I am sure a lot of clubs are interested in Salah. Now the coutinho deal is done the spanish press will need something to talk about.

6.) 10 Jan 2018 22:48:40
His beer glass.

7.) 10 Jan 2018 23:05:18
Even if this were true, all bids should be rejected. We are not a feeder club for Real and Barca. We don't need money in the bank but we do need good players.

I'm sure Southampton are saying the same thing about us but the difference is that over the last 20 or so years we have been title contenders bar 4 or 5 bad seasons. We should be aiming to be as powerful as Real Madrid or Barcelona like we once were, not settling for mediocrity by selling every decent player we have, even if it is for grossly over inflated bags of cash.

8.) 10 Jan 2018 23:19:56
113 euros get's you nowt these days, unless of course that's a deposit?

9.) 10 Jan 2018 23:20:52
Honestly every player has their price. Even Salah. I agree it would take an obscene amount but who’s to say he won’t cool off and this season isn’t a write off? I doubt it is but I’m just saying.

10.) 10 Jan 2018 23:33:17
€113m?

Do they mean Mo Farrah?

Salah is worth double that in today’s market 🤝.

11.) 10 Jan 2018 23:52:09
While I agree Liverpool are a bigger club than Southampton, it's mad to suggest that we've been title contenders for all but 4-5 seasons in the last 20 years. We've really only been contenders for two of those seasons (2008-09, 2013-14).

12.) 10 Jan 2018 23:55:18
Preparing to duck for cover.

I can’t see Salah being as effective next season, I’d like to think he’ll score 20 plus, I can’t. I think, he’ll get closer marked, he’ll be figured out and he’ll be a good player with loads to offer, rather then sensation he is now.

13.) 11 Jan 2018 00:52:46
Teams have had half a season already to figure him out. Why should next season be any different? Hopefully he keeps it up.

14.) 11 Jan 2018 02:05:36
You can’t mark pace without playing deep which brings all manner of problems when Firmino gets on the ball. I hear what your saying but in the premier league, pace is near priceless. The fact that he’s got a good touch and great attitude just puts h8m over the edge.

15.) 11 Jan 2018 07:50:16
He’s slowly turning into Arjen Robben, you know he’s cutting in but you just can’t stop him! While he might end up being less effective next season, he’ll still be an absolute pest for the opposition to defend against.

16.) 11 Jan 2018 09:26:25
Kopit81, unfortunately in recent times, we have eventually sold every player that we have recieved sizeable bids for. So IF Madrid do bid, the chances are that sooner or later Salah will be playing at the bernabeu.

17.) 11 Jan 2018 09:39:35
Really, I love when people say "I think he will be worse next season". Based on what? Crystal ball? Hell, for one, he can score 0 or 50 goals, but judging "next season" this season is kind of silly and hadn't exactly been good for us, had it (don't take it as an offence)?

18.) 11 Jan 2018 11:14:29
That offer would be even less attractive considering it probably would contain clauses to make up chunks of it. Would need to be 113m+ outright and then any clauses.

But if we’re not going to keep losing players we need to be doing bigger things in league and ECL to be attractive.

19.) 11 Jan 2018 11:58:34
He has played half a season and given his all for us and people are discussing how much he should be sold for already! Why blame FSG?

20.) 11 Jan 2018 14:59:01
Mithun no people are responding to a dodgy claim that a bid has been made by pointing out it wouldn’t be anywhere near his value, not the same thing really.

21.) 11 Jan 2018 22:57:32
Dublad, did you see Salah's 2nd goal against Leicester? The defender was pretty much inside him and Salah turned on a dime to get around him. Doesn't matter if they mark him close or not he will always be trouble.
i’ve noticed a lot more that in certain situations when needed, Salah backs into defenders which is a fantastic trait to have when you have the acceleration, speed and agility to turn them in an instant.

Most of you know I rarely post rumours, but today i was shown a photograph of 5 people in a restaurant in liverpool. Nothing special but it included Stevie G, Skyrtl and Doctor Zaf, plus two other gents. I arrived home to find Doctor Zaf sacked.very strange and no idea why Skyrtl was there, didn't realise he was a big mate of Gerard. No rumour, just interesting. maybe?

Tel 1949

1.) 08 Jan 2015 19:37:00
Was it not from a birthday? Saw a few pics today can't remember whos but was allot of players there.

2.) 08 Jan 2015 19:38:45
Was Skrtles birthday if it is the same pics

3.) Ok Marco, never realised skytrl birthday, that settles tham rumour then !

4.) 08 Jan 2015 19:50:22
Google liverpool birthday Tel and its top of page. If it is from that.

5.) 08 Jan 2015 20:59:42
Google Skrtel Birthday and look at the piccies. If they wearing the same clothes then it's the same event. At his bash Skrtel looks like he's wearing a dark crew neck sweater with a white shirt underneath. Matching earrings handbag and stillettos, with an in season permed shaved head.

6.) 08 Jan 2015 21:00:05
No, it wasnt from that marco, it was in a small cafe/ restaurant, not very glitzy, and they wernt dressed up. Photo was from someone who spotted them today sitting around a fairly plane looking table somewhere. Definitely today, because when it arrived he brought picture over to show his pal with gerard. No idea what purpose of meeting was, prob nothing to be fair, it was just news so thought i would share.

7.) 09 Jan 2015 13:25:48
It's a new indian restaurant in mount pleasant
Apparently Gerrard is a big fan and some of the other players go there quite often

8.) 09 Jan 2015 14:25:41
Goodbye drinks/meal for the Doctor?

9.) 10 Jan 2015 01:09:54
Skrtel goes anywhere. I've seen him sitting outside Costa coffee in speke retail a few times. Next stop the lobster pot with Paco Ayesteran shocker

10 Jan 2018 18:23:51
I believe Firmino could make a perfect No10, he's a great tackler, has vision and can score some classy goals. A great team player who could develop into our new number 10, and LFC buy a top striker.

Any thoughts?

Tel 1949

1.) 10 Jan 2018 18:44:48
No no no no no why would you want him there as a number 10? He’s makes us tick playing we’re he does.

2.) 10 Jan 2018 19:10:03
If he was good there, why did Klopp stop playing him there since 15/ 16 when he played there behind Origi, Studge or Benteke?

3.) 10 Jan 2018 19:16:26
Because origi benteke or sturridge weren't reliable/ good enough.

4.) 10 Jan 2018 19:31:29
Tel, I can see why you've said that.

However, Firmino is flying this season. He's been class. It makes no sense to change things in that regard. Just because PC has gone I don't think we should be advocating large changes to the team, system or way we play.

Firmino is one of the best strikers in the prem on current form. Probably only behind Kane and Aguero.

5.) 10 Jan 2018 19:34:54
I see what your Thinking but I think his best position is up top. What I will say is I'd prefer him number 10 than out wide.
I can't stand it when he's on the flanks he might as well not be on the pitch! Bobby is Great up top though and it's a Phil replacement we need, a world class one, not a bargain basement Lazini.

6.) 10 Jan 2018 20:06:19
I happen to agree with you Tel, but it would be a risk to change a successful formation.

7.) 10 Jan 2018 20:08:00
Personally nah, I don't think we should change his position, now when he is playing the way he is this season he's utterly fantastic, moving him could change things drastically, then we'll have all the people doubting his abilities again.

8.) 10 Jan 2018 20:23:04
Lanzini - no thank you. Firminho doesn't make us tick. It hasn't ticked well for him in the last 5 games as a starter or as a sub.

Everton 30 mins no impact
West Brom dire like the rest
Leicester had to be moved out wide so Salah went as centre forward. Look what happened.
Burnley 30 mins no impact
Everton cup the system didn't work without Courts and Salah. I think he had one poor shot in 90 minutes.

I think he has done well this season but people don't half go overboard about him on here. He has only 9 prem goals and I don't remember many of them being a winning goal. If any?

There was a debate on sky about other centre forwards in the league and how they will be judged. Big games is the answer how they do when it matters the most. I fail to remember Firminho being our main man in any big games. I used to look for Gerrard, Suarez then Courts. Now I look for Salah and Mane.

9.) 10 Jan 2018 21:13:43
Mark you are talking out your rear end. Those are actually just 5 of our last 8 games. In the other 3 in between that you conveniently missed out he got 4 goals and 2 assists. Or did you forget the Bournemouth, Arsenal and Swansea games happened?

Besides, i fail to see how his goal and assist return has any relevance to claims he makes us tick. That doesn't show how many times he won back possession high up the pitch, or how many times he created space for others, or how many times he played a key role in an attack.

If you actually bothered to watch us, you wouldn't forget about half of the games and you'd see the impact Firmino actually has on the team. If you do want to make a judgement based entirely on whether he scored or not though, best to get your stats right. 4 goals and 2 assists in his last 8 games is a very good record for a player who is primarily in the team to lead the press and link up play. Our system is built around Firmino dropping in to create space for the wide forwards to come inside. Hence why Coutinho, Salah and Mane have 43 goals for us this season. That wouldn't happen without Firmino's creativity and unselfishness.

Nice try though.

10.) 10 Jan 2018 21:28:01
Mark08, you mean big games like in the CL (five or 6 goals) this season, vs Arsenal in both games? And what does it matter if it is a winning goal or not? When has that ever been a yardstick for rating a striker or footballer? You're scraping at the bottom of the barrel to find something to slate Bobbie with and BUT please, keep digging.

11.) 10 Jan 2018 21:24:53
Exactly, Tel. He is better than those players at CF and does what those players and near NO other CF IMO, can or wants to do in a Klopp system hence, he is the CF while the real no. 10 plays or should play behind him. Congrats for making my point for me.

12.) 10 Jan 2018 21:58:32
I mean Man U home and away
Any top 4 side home or away
semi finals
finals
Man u home and away Europa league

It is not I don't rate him but I don't think he is half the player MK and BRover think.

Some winning goals and stand out performances in big games would change my mind.

2 goals agains't Maribor or Brighton won't change my opinion. He is Liverpool centre forward I want him to be a match winner.

13.) 10 Jan 2018 22:45:21
markp08 are you been serious?

14.) 10 Jan 2018 22:01:52
MK i go to a lot more matches than you. Somethings you see at a live match you don't see on TV. Firminho as a false 9 will not work medium term if Salah and or Mane doesn't play. That to me is fact.

15.) 10 Jan 2018 22:17:18
I think Courts, Salah, Mane would of had more than 43 goals if they played as a front 3. In fact I am sure of it. Salah I think got 26 goals last year was Firminho playing for Roma? Courts will get many goals for Barcelona nothing to do with Firminho.

People tried to give Firminho credit for Salah's goal agains't Chelsea because he was on the bench. It is over the top. He is due a good game and a goal agains't the top sides so let's hope it is on Sunday.

16.) 10 Jan 2018 22:32:51
Big games like Arsenal and Man City?

17.) 10 Jan 2018 22:33:38
MK thanks for bringing up the Arsenal away game. The match he missed 3 really really good chances in the first half. That was nothing to do with a false 9. It is due to the fact he is not and never will be a natural goalscorer.

9 league goals is not good enough for me. I think Rooney's got more, from less minutes. Anyway it has been done to death. You think he is one of the worlds best and I think he is good without being top class.

18.) 10 Jan 2018 23:09:34
yes mate. Winning goals is what I want from a LFC centre forward.

I don't want to go over it all again you think he is Kane's level the rest of the world know he is no where near.

19.) 10 Jan 2018 23:38:43
I've been to enough for all games to know that you don't see anywhere near as much as you can on TV! You are right in that you do see some things you can't on TV, but you miss even more.

Salah got 19 goals last season by the way, because Dzeko is nowhere near as selfless and creative as Firmino. Playing with Firmino, he has 4 more goals at the half way stage than he got in an entire season playing in a Roma team that pushed Juventus for the title. I accept that you disagree though, that's fair enough. I do think a lot of people underestimate how many chances Firmino directly and indirectly creates for others though. He's not our main goal scorer, but for me he's the beating heart of our team. So I'll agree to disagree.

20.) 10 Jan 2018 23:55:54
When you've got 43 goals at this stage of the season, from just 3 players, without Firmino's tally I'd say we must be doing something right. You add a different type of striker into the mix and you have to change the way we play. If you then factor in that a large quantity of those goals are down to Firmino, for creating turnovers, setting up attacks, as well as direct assists, you get a pretty useful player. That is without all of the goals he scores. Harry Kane may have individual goal scoring numbers, but he would not fit into our system in the same way. I only used Kane as the example because he was already mentioned. Firmino is top quality. Just because he won't end up with 30 goals doesn't mean his contribution is worth less than that.

29 Dec 2017 23:21:32
There does appear that at the very least he is considering a move to Liverpool. let's hope tha Klopps contacts with Germany will hold him in good stead. He is a quality attacking midfielder, great header of the ball, 6' 2" helps I suppose, a real driving force and very well rated as a great young german talent.
If we get him, it would certainly make a big improvement to the team. I don't have any information to confirm we will get him, just a little of my own internet research i've done in the last few days, which makes it seem plausible?

Tel 1949

1.) 29 Dec 2017 23:39:08
who is it you are talking of?

{Ed002's Note - Goretzka.}

2.) 29 Dec 2017 23:40:34
Think he’d be a great addition. Specially if it’s on a free. May help with FFP. The Ed’s in particular Ed002 has said we have made our interest known to his rep. Time will tell what he chooses to do.

3.) 29 Dec 2017 23:41:33
Ah, of course. Cheers Ed2.

4.) 30 Dec 2017 06:37:19
Don't think Goretzka will happen. Would rather someone who can sit in front of the defense and spray passes and start attacks. We already have Keita, Lallana, OX and Gini to play the B2B roles. We need to upgrade the Henderson position and my preference is Paredes or Rabiot. Goretzka plays further up the pitch.

5.) 30 Dec 2017 10:37:07
Ah yes, the good old pass sprayer. Sees a 60 yard diagonal and plants it on a sixpence whilst simultaneously managing to make 8 defensive players lose their mind and run up the pitch, thus leaving space in behind. Genius. Or in other words, we need an attacking defensive midfielder who with one foot stops a goal then creates one with the other. Yarp, sounds good. Javi Alonscherano is a name that springs to mind. Cracking stuff.

Maybe while we're at it, we hijack George Weah's attempts at a political career and get him to teach Mignolet how to dribble the length of the pitch. Create some sort of keeping striker and bypass the need for the rest of the team perhaps? Saves his Liverpool career and becomes a cult hero all at once. DONE!

{Ed025's Note - i enjoyed that..

6.) 30 Dec 2017 11:01:18
Goretzka and Kieta is exactly what you call a double pivot! Both are brilliant on the ball and equally good off the ball. This could also end any persuit of a DM or a Specialist holding Midfielder in the summer!

7.) 30 Dec 2017 12:46:27
Haha brilliant mate.

21 Dec 2017 22:47:32
Cant over emphasise how impressed I have been with Oxlaide Chamberlain since he arrived. Fantastic work rate and enthusiasm, but he is a good genuine guy. The way he immediately stood up for Coutinho when a reporter put phil in an embarassing position, said it all for me.
A few more first picks in the team and he will start flying, his work ethic is perfect.

Hes starting to settle in now and beginning to feel like a valuable player for us.

Well done Ox, keep up the good work.

Tel 1949

1.) 22 Dec 2017 13:01:12
Spot on, Tel. I did not want him here cos like many others, he had become stagnant at the Arsene Wenger School of Stagnation. Klopp may have played a blinder on this one as only he saw what he saw in the Ox and tho it is early doors, the very good signs are there to see even from a skeptic like me. He had my full support as soon as he signed and I'm happy Klopp is getting something out of him. Still early doors tho and I hope he plays tonight and gives it to 'em cos men, the Whinger just can't stop taking veiled jibes at him.

23 Oct 2016 20:01:33
Long time since I posted, but I went to the game yesterday, my pal spoilt me and got some nice free tickets along with meal in the Paisley bar. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the new stand is absolutely huge!
We have an awesome team, not perfect in every area but full of intensity, skill and in some cases just shear stamina. I am really looking forward to the season and fingers crossed we should be up there or thereabouts near the end of the season.
The one key difference between Man United and Liverpool this year is the word TEAM. United have some great players but not a great team spirit. Liverpool have some great players and a great team spirit. Personally its all down to the managers for me, but just seeing the look on Fergies face today made my week, he had a smile like a baboons rectum, classic!

Tel 1949

1.) 23 Oct 2016 20:47:24
what a great game to get free tickets for. excitement for the whole 90 odd mins. and the right result. you should go more often.

2.) 23 Oct 2016 22:54:02
I bet it was brill mate, what a great weekend of football for Liverpool fans.

3.) 23 Oct 2016 23:02:00
Good to see you back posting on here Tel.

4.) 23 Oct 2016 23:30:45
It's a long time since my last match visit to Anfield - October 1986 won 4-0.
I shall be at the Watford match and am hoping for a similar result. At the same time I would say that I am sure that one of these days we are really going to thrash some opposition. What we usually face is the De Gea from Monday and not the De Gea from 30 seconds into today's match. Had the same goal been scored on Monday I am sure we would have at least equalled Chelsea's total. Still - we are going in the right direction.

Grino75, why don't you stopslagging our players off before they've even touched a ball this season? Moreno is a decent player along with Mignolet, they need SUPPORTERS to start supporting, its not a difficult concept to get behind the team and boost their confidence before every game, instead of making them less confident, simple eh?

mourinho is a good manager, no doubt, but he uses the same formula wherever he goes. he buys the best players available at any given time, then tries to mould them into a team. Eds right, he has a huge job on his hands, but there are a number of factors not in his favour. One is that the current breed of top players are a different breed to the ones in his heyday. some of them on huge wages don't appear to have the same incentive to play as a team, eg current Chelsea squad that he built or players like Balotelli etc. Klopps plan is more about getting some top players, but primarily those who really want to play forr their wages eg Suarez type.
United are a great club but it could be a long road back for them, especially with the abrasive attitude of Mourinho at times. Some modern players don't like to told what to do, as Van Gaal found out with some of his buys. We shall see.
