Heard coming feom a spurs fan, its doing the rounds we have activated alderweirelds release clause? Any truth to this anyone?

Highly doubt it. We have 4 CBs and don’t see him joining unless we lost at least one of them.

Would also be a huge kick in the stones for Gomez because way would Toby join for anything other than first choice alongside VVD.

2.) 05 Jul 2019 07:56:48
30 years of age. Couldn't see it mate. Very good player though.

3.) 05 Jul 2019 10:37:29
This would actually make a lot of sense as when Joe Gomez is out due to injury we miss his pace at the back. If Alderweireld still has more pace than our other options, then our game plan can remain the same.

Alderweireld would also fill me with more confidence in games where Van Dyke is unavailable or needs rested.

I know he is 30 but his prem experience would be invaluable to us. Gomez or Alderweireld alongside Van Dyke and Trent and Robertson out wide, put Fabinho in front of our back four and it would be water tight. In my opinion of course.

4.) 05 Jul 2019 10:48:56
Not sure of it myself but he is a great defender and at £25 million its a no brainer he would be worth that even at 30. just thought id ask as that is the info coming from spurs from what i heard.

5.) 05 Jul 2019 10:54:50
Only makes sense if Lovren or Matip leave. wouldn't mind having Virgil Toby Gomez Matip as our CB choices Highly doubt it will happen.

{Ed002's Note - It is not true at all.}

6.) 05 Jul 2019 11:25:26
I don’t see it happening but if we sold Lovren to AC Milan for close to £20m and got Toby for £25m it would be decent business. Not sure the disparity in wages but I think Lovren is on a decent screw (£100k a week? ) so I wouldn’t think it would be a massive financial burden, factor in he can also play right back it would be a good move.

7.) 05 Jul 2019 16:25:50
Can't see it happening but can only see it as a positive if we were to sell Lovren and bring him in. Definite upgrade.

8.) 05 Jul 2019 19:01:50
Not going to happen unless he has been promised to start alongside VVD.

Another clickbait rumour.

9.) 05 Jul 2019 20:13:57
I find it surprising that AC Milan aren't just going for Alderweireld instead of Lovren. Is there anything about Lovren's play that makes him more suited to Serie A than Alderweireld?

I know pace isn't so much an issue as it is here, but apart from that, I'm not privy to the different styles and why Milan would prefer Lovren over Alderweireld.

10.) 06 Jul 2019 08:54:08
OP, If no CB is leaving LFC then those rumors are unfounded and make very little sense.

On this site quite a bit. Not a rumour as such but passing on what i have heard. as you may know brendan rogers is from carnlough, larne NI. not too far from me so we get the odd bit of information passed through mutual connections. to clear something up regarding sturridge, great player but does not want to play. according to brendan they had him everywhere to get to the bottom of his injuries and could find nothing physically wrong with him. without doubt in my opinion our best striker but this explains why klopp selects players with less than half his talent infront of him and will continue to do so. such a waste of natural ability.

Andy that's the case then also a waste of wages.

2.) 16 Jul 2017 09:05:15
Ask yourself this question. Have you ever seen Sturridge get injured or pull up with a muscle injiry during a game? I can't remember our most injury prone player ever doing this for us or for England . It always seems to be issues during training. This may be just a coincidence or it could lend some credence to these rumours.

West ham aren't known for nurturing talent?
West ham have nurtured some of the best talent that's played in the premiership over the past 20 years. lampard, ferdinand, defoe, joe cole are only a few.

Declan rice is a great player though and west ham would do well to keep him. tielemans has stagnated in his career considering he was considered amongst the best up coming talent in the world as a teenager though he's still only 24. bellingham is worth a mention if were talking young english midfielders.
Seen that papers are linking us for a move for sterling again now too.

Fact is we have a decent squad that can compete when the majority stays fit.
Id be much happier with a double pivot fab and hendo and drop firmino into AM and play with an out and out striker.

Lets be fair to clyne. he was the best player in a weak backline. didn't do much damage going forward, but can you blame him? Mignolet is the worst keeper we have had since kirkland. our centre backs were terrible. the trust in defence must be at an all time low in the first team. with a better all round backline would he improve going forward because there is trust there?

In fairness since Fenway took over transfers have been terrible with the exception of suarez and coutinho! £35 million on andy carrol, is is any wonder teams see us coming and think we are mugs, because of that we lose out on quite a number of targets and time ends up wasted! LFC should be looking to build on their youth system and bring in top quality players, 1-2 a season and make sure and get it right, if it means £38 million then so be it! Wasting 70 million on talent we loan out or do not play is pointless! 26 goals in 22 games this season, 16 goals in the league. which is exactly what we need! As much as i loved sturridge he is ****ed, he can't scroe from the stands, I hope he recovers but its all looking a bit Harry Kewell! All the weight will be put on coutinho and he is inconsistent, possible a goal scorer will let him relax with less pressure! Unfortunately, we need CL football or our team will really just end up a mid-table team and a great of the past, its been happening slowly for 20 years. A shake up is needed and a realisation that we need quality proven goalscorers and a keeper! Westerveld, Dudek, Reina, always had a good stopper. Reina was pushed out for a few errors, I bet he's laughing now about it watching Mignolet! No voice, not commanding enough. Ter Stegen would be a great improvement but that's just a dreamland!
