Hi Ed02. How are you doing? Need your inputs here. Could you please let us know on the financial aspects of Champions League participation. I was going through some reports where it was mentioned that there will be ranking based distribution for the participation money in the first round. And there will be money for each win and draw. Subsequently, there will be more money if a team qualifies for the next round. Please help with the details.

TIARed

{Ed002's Note -
Play Off Round losers - €5M
Qualifying for the Group Stage - €15.25M
Winning a Group Stage match - €2.7M
Drawing a Group Stage match - €900k
Qualification (Round of 16) - €9.5M
Qualification (Quarter Finals - €10.5M
Qualification (Semi- Finals) - €12M
Qualification (Final) - €15M
Winning (Final) - €4M
Additional Payments for Clubs in the Group Stage (Television Money) – A share of about €300M depending on several factors
Additional Payments for Clubs in the Group Stage (Performance Coefficients) – A share of a little more €585M depending on several factors (between €1.1M for lowest ranked club to about €35M for the highest ranked club (Real Madrid).}

Can’t wait for sky sports to glance at this page and be inspired to run a good twenty min segment on the financials and whip everyone up into a pre window frenzy. Seriously though, thanks for the info ed very interested to see how much the play off losers receive.

2.) 12 Dec 2018 09:46:39
Thanks a lot Ed02.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

3.) 12 Dec 2018 10:33:02
Sorry for my understanding, Madrid get paid a bit extra because they are ranked highest? 😳.

{Ed002's Note - Some of the payments are based on performance based rankings, Real Madrid are ranked #1, Barcelona #2 etc..}

4.) 12 Dec 2018 11:13:07
top quality info Ed002. I hope we can keep progressing in the competition and next year we should move up the rankings and be in at least pot 2.

Shout out to Gini he is far exceeding my expectations.

{Ed002's Note - As it stands right now Liverpool would be in Pot 2 or 3 - much depending on who wins the major leagues. Liverpool has jumped up the rankings as it has been expanded from 5 to 10 years.}

Excellemt question by OP and wonderful insight provided by ED02.

So you possibly earn a headline figure of €70m if you end up winning the CL.

6.) 12 Dec 2018 11:27:31
So 15.25 group stage
8.1 matches won
9.5 qualification knock out
20.0? Additional payment
? TV money

You can see the importance of top 4 Gauranga.

7.) 12 Dec 2018 14:31:32
Who's Gauranga and why did your autocomplete go there first?!?

Travel to 'certain' parts of South America much? ;-)

8.) 12 Dec 2018 16:10:34
I'm waiting for the day when club chief accountants start sitting next to managers on the bench, to remind that a win is worth 1.8 Million more than a draw in a group stage match. 😏.

9.) 13 Dec 2018 00:08:13
Wow you get more money for qualifying for the final than winning it.

10.) 13 Dec 2018 00:09:13
The amount of knowledge you possess Ed2 never fails to Amaze me.

11.) 13 Dec 2018 09:29:43
Just for Berg, the figures are cumulative.

Both teams who qualify for the final get €15m, the winner also gets €4m on top.

:)

Thanks zed.

Should the club provide a contract extension for an year or two to James Milner. In my opinion he is a great squad player and covers a lot of positions very well. I think it will be in the interest of the club to provide a new contract. Your thoughts please redmen.

Wouldn't harm us in any way but I can't help but think his heart is with Leeds.

2.) 09 Dec 2018 16:43:15
I reckon we'll get another year out of him, fingers crossed.

3.) 09 Dec 2018 17:19:33
Agreed Salah, if we could extend for 1 year that would be ideal.

4.) 09 Dec 2018 17:43:33
I can’t see a lot changing between now and the opening day of next season. Unless Klopp knows that he has a starting replacement coming in or someone on the bench/ loanee who is better (doubtful) then he should get an extra year. He is far better than a simple squad player, he is playing the best football of his career still and he’s worth keeping for his pens alone.

{Ed0333's Note - he deserves a one year contract at the very least. But if someone out there offers him a 2-3 year lucrative one I can see him going especially if Leeds come up. That would be a fitting swansong for the guy.

5.) 09 Dec 2018 19:13:49
Squad player?
Most consistent player we have this season.

6.) 09 Dec 2018 22:17:27
One year contract, for sure for Milner however I think if Leeds get promoted, he may be off.

7.) 10 Dec 2018 10:01:24
Keep milly on as coach after he hangs up his boots what a role model to young players.
