So EDs the £50million question on everyone's minds, do any of you have an idea of potential alternatives? I'm sure it's probably too soon to tell but any info wouldn't be appreciated.

Shame we've done this type of behaviour again, let's hope we learn from it.

{Ed001's Note - nothing yet, if anything mate.}

1.) 07 Jun 2017 20:03:03
But we won't learn from it though. Clearly that won't happen.

2.) 07 Jun 2017 20:36:49
Our alternative should be Sakho as he's quality and can play at left back, Klopp should back down after this idiocy.

3.) 07 Jun 2017 20:44:18
De Vrij seems to be one. Contract is running low think he's in last year of it.

4.) 07 Jun 2017 20:54:49
Everyone knows we are willing to spend big now though, I swear by lascelles at Newcastle but I'm the only one who does.

Eds/ insiders.
I've noticed Grujic seems to be playing a more deep lying 'number 6' role so far for Cardiff, is this something that has been planned to see his potential in the position as a possible in house replacement for Emre Can? Or is it just that Cardiff see him best there? I know he was seen as more of an attacking/ box to box midfielder upon his arrival so find it intriguing that he's operating there, cheers.

1.) 19 Feb 2018 16:12:31
TIA, he was already playing that position with the U23's so you may be right even tho, I don't think it is his best position.

Do any of the Eds or fellow reds have any info on why Lemar has been left out of the Monaco squad?
Klopp also mentioned in the last 24 hours that one or two of the players he wants in the summer could come now, I believe he's probably referring to Keita and Lemar as they have been our main targets that have proved somewhat problematic in trying to sign.
Is it possible that 2+2=4 in this instance and we are possibly trying to sort the Lemar deal out now or is it just an unrelated coincidence? Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - He has a leg spassm/bruise/ache or whatever.}

1.) 27 Jan 2018 23:40:23
Lemar won't fix the lack of tracking back, tackling or protection of the back four from our midfield.

Can should have been sold and replaced, his head is clearly elsewhere. Wijnaldum just needs a rest and a refocus.

2.) 27 Jan 2018 23:50:33
Leg ache?
Ouch! That takes me back to when I was four.
Can't Lemar play up on his dad's shoulders.

3.) 28 Jan 2018 01:53:39
Twisted sock I heard.

11 Jan 2018 13:54:33
Eds I'm unsure if you're now aware of the apparent player macca has suggested or not, but if you are, do you know if it's something we're trying to finalise for the summer? Or is it something we're trying to organise for now? My reasoning behind this question is top top quality players usually are fighting for some sort of trophy mid season and therefore may want to wait for a fresh season. cheers.
To put my two cents in to the guesswork. insigne or pulisic, but I'm unsure pulisic would be described as toptop quality, yet.

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea who it is.}

1.) 11 Jan 2018 14:08:34
Fair enough ED, have you not been tempted to email him and find out? You're a better man than I am if so!
Or do you prefer the ignorance is bliss approach as every one on this site will be eager to know
Cheers and keep up the good work on this epic site.

{Ed001's Note - I much prefer not knowing or I would want to tell everyone if I knew!}

2.) 11 Jan 2018 14:12:09
Not if it is a Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid player. Both out of the title race, and Real likely to join Atletico on the CL scrap heap once they face PSG.

I think it will be a big player from one of those clubs. Kroos or Koke and I'm in dreamland. Asensio or Oblak and I'll eat my keyboard. Macca has just cost me at least 50 hours sleep between now and January 31st 😂.

3.) 11 Jan 2018 14:43:13
MK, the athletici part makes sense but I'd disagree with Madrid based on two things:
1. I doubt Real Madrid have the same defeatist attitude so won't be wanting to offload a player in the assumption that they go out of the champions league. And
2. I also doubt they would want to see Barcelona strengthen their team whilst real weaken their own team in the same window.
It's all guesswork right now though.

4.) 11 Jan 2018 14:28:04
Much respect Ed, knowing your limits there! I'd be exactly the same! Well either way, at the very least it shows us fans that the club are going about it in the right way, rather than stockpiling players! Onwards and hopefully upwards.

{Ed002's Note - Not the stuff for discussing here. Sorry.}

1.) 07 Jan 2018 21:02:03
That's fair enough, I was purposely careful with my words as I suspected that. Appreciate it anyway, Cheers.

Getting conflicting responses from The eds is confusing me! I love how much info you guys provide but when one says transfers can happen subject to a medical, and then the other says they can't, just leaves me confused about what's right and wrong. hopefully this can be cleared up so we're all on the same pag, appreciate it.

{Ed001's Note - they can submit paperwork, so long as the deal is agreed, allowing them to extend time to get it done. It allows them a few extra hours to do the medical and submit completed paperwork.}

Square Tomato, great to hear from you.
I just saw an interview with Klopp discussing ings and although the media outlet interpreted that Klopp implied he is in his long term plans, I couldn't help but feel the opposite. Be a shame as I think he's a good back up, notably his attitude which is vital in a back up role. But at the same time I'd love for him to be able to crack on in his career!

Hailstones. aubumayang went to Arsenal because no other big club would buy him and he wanted to move! Also his current club are out the champions league so it made no difference to his current season.

I don't think qualifying for the champions league has taken precedent over winning the title, it's just the minimum requirement from top 6 teams currently. I think if you asked most Liverpool fans they would prefer the domestic title and I think if you asked our owners they would prefer to be the owners that helped give LFC that. Where have you drawn this conclusion that the champions league is more important? It's more important for citeh currently because they haven't won it yet, and you can bet your bottom dollar that every manager within the top 6 absolutely strives to be crowned champions of the premier league, its not like citeh was the only team set out to try for the title this year and the other 5 just wanted top 4. it's just how the season has panned out with citeh being so consistent in results.

Mr Dennis, as ED001 has alluded to Klopp has already tried this formation a few times this season, and with Keita arriving in the summer you should expect it to happen more often! 442 isn't a bad way of setting up a modern team, ask athletico Madrid and Leicester city. rather than assuming only a dinasuar like Roy Hodson would use it 😉.

Mr Dennis. reread the original post. he clearly states both hendo and the Ox in midfield to replace Gini and can and a switch to 442 risk formation. Milner wouldn't need to start

Babydriver, it was a shame we didn't get him. But the reality was that Fulham refused to do business with us due to past issues. So I won't be bitter if Spurs sign him.

Hardy, interesting take. what knowledge/ info do you have to draw up that conclusion? I've followed him for a few years and I couldn't commit to such a statement like 'will always be back up right back' he's only 19, has more technical ability, vision and intelligence than most of our current midfielders, in my opinion the lad needs to gain a bit more strength and work on his defensive game to be the type of midfielder we crave, and low and behold Klopp has spent this season working on his defending at right back. Talk about writing a player off too early.

My mrs is working in London tomorrow and had to give me the 'I'm sorry I'm unavailable for valentines day' speech. let's just say I enjoyed the grovelling and didn't mention that we are playing 😉 A very rare win win situation!
