Question for Liverpool fans. Liverpool are clearly desperate for a new spine. That would then improve the squad also as the current spine would be decent squad players. My question is along with Keita. Who would be your ideal/ realistic spine? Here's mine.

GK = Butland
CB = VVD
DM = Weigl
CF = Icardi.

1.) 03 Oct 2017 14:08:12
Weigl is class! He is terrific with the ball and would compliment well with Keita. That means I wouldn’t see Sideways Hendo anymore! Butland is a brilliant keeper and a realistic one too! Icardi won’t happen and if you have money, then spend it on Bellotti. He is excellent!

2.) 03 Oct 2017 16:02:22
I think Liverpool being in the CL really should have pushed for someone like Belotti. Will be impossible to get him next summer without CL football. I always feel teams who get CL football but don't have it guaranteed really should take advantage of it to bring in a few big name players.

3.) 03 Oct 2017 18:09:13
Sydney, Chelsea and even Utd did not wanna pay the near 90m fee for him so how were we supposed to do that, exactly?

4.) 03 Oct 2017 20:32:33
Sydney. Excellent picks pal.

Gk. Butland think he is destined for a big club.

Cb. Vvd has to be. Be wrong to leave him were he is. Wouldn't care if he was useless but he is a top cb and someone we badly need

Cm. Think weigl is world class but fabinho for me. Has everything, can pass short, long great engine for a brazilian, doesn't mind getting stuck in and would offer the back 4 protection but isn't limited to that.

CF. Also a big fan of icardi but for me timo Werner is going to be the next big thing. Watched him a lot this season and the kid has the lot. Icardi wouldn't be a bad choice either trouble so people say but who loves nuns anyway. Once he puts the ball in the net the baggage goes in with it.

One thing I will say is it's a shame Liverpool are out for the fringe player's sake. This is a good competition for them to learn in. Now they'll struggle to find games.

1.) 19 Sep 2017 22:28:54
That's my only disappointment as well, Syd esp. for Ward.

2.) 19 Sep 2017 22:37:24
Early round of FA Cup perhaps? Cannot see Liverpool finishing 3rd in UCL group, but if they did it would offer games for fringe players. So FA Cup only really unless you draw a tough team. U23's is just no good for the likes of Woodburn and Solanke. Maybe a loan to Championship side? It's a real shame for them as unless there's mass injuries, they won't get games now.

3.) 19 Sep 2017 22:54:38
If performances don't become more consistent you'd have to expect them to get games.

4.) 20 Sep 2017 04:38:12
Maybe if they want to play more games they should have played better in this one.

5.) 20 Sep 2017 07:37:22
This is the problem with throwing fringe players the one match a month bone, it ramps up pressure to perform without the match sharpness to back that up.

6.) 20 Sep 2017 08:02:29
That's a good point Smeg Head, why didn't they just think to play better? That would've solved all our problems. Now you mention it why didn't klopp just manage better? We'd be in be next round of the cup if the players just took your advice.

7.) 20 Sep 2017 15:08:06
I'm pretty sure Klopp can't run onto the pitch and put the ball in the net, we should have been out of sight first half, the fact that we weren't is down to the players not the manager.

16 Sep 2017 18:40:32
Klopp does seem addicted to buying attacking wide players. Next summer the back 'six' needs a complete revamp, be interesting to see if he spends the budget on that or he again looks to more attackers and the back is once again neglected. You could argue no one in the defence is good enough for a top four side. Need a defensive midfielder and certainly a top class keeper.

1.) 16 Sep 2017 19:14:59
Sydney, we all complained that there was no cover for Mane when he was injured or away at the AFCON. He wanted a winger and he got Salah who has already come good after 8 games in all comps. YET you say he is addicted to signing wide players. He did not neglect the back as he tried to get VVD and Koulibaly along with a LB. He got the LB he wanted so in what way did he neglect the back again? Also, NO top class GK will come as they are all taken so again, who would that be and don't mention Joe Hart, Butland or whoever as they are NOT world class? I could keep poking holes in your post but I'll stop now.

2.) 16 Sep 2017 19:34:20
I think you mean NO cover for mane there bingo. You forgot to smash caps.

3.) 16 Sep 2017 19:40:52
It was a disappointing result with the obligatory defensive error leading to a goal but we are the same squad that trounced Arsenal 4-0 and spanked Hoffenheim in 20 minutes! I think the City result is still in our system especially at the back. We'll come good no need to panic.

4.) 16 Sep 2017 19:50:41
There are several defenders, defensive midfielders and keepers out there Bingo. You need six new players for six positions. With Can likely going you'll need another squad midfielder too. Then replace Coutinho. Starring too is sold. Still need some major surgery in my opinion. Maybe spending £70m on VVD would be silly when there's still so much left to do. I mean there's enough there to survive, but I mean in the sense of pushing on and cementing top four for the future.

5.) 16 Sep 2017 19:59:30
'Sturridge too if sold'

6.) 16 Sep 2017 20:01:25
I could be wrong but I expect to see Klopp looking to get a few bargains in over the course of the season. Some 'agreed in principle' deals.

7.) 16 Sep 2017 20:27:13
Sydney, there may be BUT Klopp clearly does not operate that way, good or bad. He just does not sign players for the sake of it and if he thinks they are NOT going to upgrade us, why buy? That may not be what you nor I want BUT it is the way it is and in some way, I find nothing wrong with that approach. As for those leaving, the summer is too far off so let's not start projecting. Our immediate future is LC on Tuesday.

8.) 16 Sep 2017 20:31:02
BINGO RED,
If LFC are serious about winning the league and champions league then they should go out and get a top class keeper, every top team has one.
JAN OBLAK of ATHLETICO MADRDID has already said he will not be renewing his contract, we should be at the front of the queue to sign him, he is head and shoulders above the other 2.

9.) 16 Sep 2017 21:22:54
I assume this any CB on planet earth would be an upgrade so he should have signed 10 during the summer stuff will continue for the rest of the season 😵 There simply weren't these bucket loads of CBs with proven ability floating around for sale. There was 1 that seems to have been not pursued and 1 that was screwed up and may not be the answer everyone thinks he is. End of. Hence City looking at Evans, who also wasnt for sale.

10.) 16 Sep 2017 23:30:50
So Bingo, Klopp doesn't just sign players for the sake of it if they're not going to improve you. What was Klavan then?

31 Aug 2017 22:52:19
Here's a question, if Coutinho stays, how will AOC get a game in midfield?

Coutinho - Can - Wijnaldum - Henderson - Grujic - Milner - Lallana.

1.) 31 Aug 2017 23:48:25
Simple, he plays better than the players you mentioned.

31 Aug 2017 21:49:34
Barcelona will sign Lemar tomorrow. Must be worth a punt at 20/ 1.

Salah, Solanke, Lemar, Mane, Firminio, Lallana, Sturridge, AOC, Winaldum, Henderson, Can, Grujic and Milner into SIX spots. Of course it's a squad game, but there will be some unhappy players.

Thing is if we could figure this out then club officials from Europe's elite will figure this out too. And Monaco will for sure haggle hard and Liverpool will pay a club record fee for Lemar. Southampton will get top dollar for VVD too if that materialises.

The late Barcelona interest in Lemar is probably fake too. It's a lot of money for the 21 year old. Arsenal and other clubs didn't want to pay close to that amount. But he could be a real good addition if he settles well. Although can all these forwards fit in the team? Salah, Solanke, Lemar, Mane, Firminio, Lallana, Sturridge.

Good to have options I guess, but will this mean Lemar playing behind Firminio?

Personally I think a lot of this hinges on Liverpool qualifying. Once they qualify I think things will move swiftly on a few fronts. Just my opinion.

Question for any Liverpool fan. I have chosen TAA and Lovren for Fantasy football because they were only £5m. Gave me more money for midfield and attack. Question is, are they first choice? If so I think I have grabbed a couple bargains considering top teams defenders are £6m+.

I think VVD could be the final piece of the Man City jigsaw, get VVD in and replace him with Kompany and they'll be some force. Probably end up at Liverpool, but City would be a sensible move for him. Guaranteed Champions League football every season. Higher salary than Liverpool would offer and will challenge for major trophies.

Saying that I'd bet there will be several top clubs trying to sign him this summer. Barcelona, Real Madrid, City, Chelsea, Juventus and others. Even though his personality is questionable at best.

Perhaps he's trying to force an end to his loan deal. Cannot be good for him watching the club he's joining sitting in 9th position. He probably wants to help the club make the top four. very disappointing agreeing to join a club and then they are not doing as well as he expected. He's probably itching to get to Liverpool and help push for a top four finish.
