Rumours of coutinho available for loan at 9 mil, anyone else think that sounds like good business? Could play wide left while sadio is away at AFCON, or at least allow for more formation options, he's a talented player for me and i know we've moved on to become a better side but he has a lot to offer, I'm sure klopp would prefer permanent additions but it will likely be a difficult window to get players of that calibre.

Eds and Reds, does anyone know why has Coutinho flopped at Barcelona and Bayern? Was he overhyped in the Premier League and simply never was world class or is there something more sinister to it?

{Ed001's Note - because he wasn't as good as people thought. Simple. He looked great in highlight reels because they only showed the good bits and not the 50 other shots he fluffed and turned over needless possession. They didn't show how he lacked the acceleration and pace to make anything of beating a man nine times out of ten just putting himself into a blind alley rather than creating space. I said we would be better when he left because he wasn't as good as people thought and I stand by that.}

2.) 31 May 2020 12:34:24
Fully agree overated player and now teams are finally wising up to it which is why no one wants to sign him For the crazy fee being mentioned.

3.) 31 May 2020 13:16:00
I’ve never agreed with Ed001 on this one. For me, Coutinho was our top man when he left and that was reflected in the fee at the time.
He barely played with Salah, and not at all with VVD, Alisson and Keita. So the side is stronger than when he left and a like-for-like comparison is not true.
Going to Barca, under the shadow of Messi, was never going to be an easy task.
And Bayern have played a more compact 4-2-3-1 with, often, a less-mobile Lewandowski as the player ahead of Coutinho.
His confidence has taken a hit and that can stall the very best of players.
IA Spring 2017 version of Coutinho implanted into our current squad would improve it, no doubt at all.
But it’s Summer of 2019 and things have moved on. He should never have left, that’s quite apparent to all, even himself I’m sure.

{Ed001's Note - sorry but we are defo going to disagree. He needed to go as he was holding us back and that was clear on the pitch. I don't care who he played with, his selfish play was not helpful.}

4.) 31 May 2020 13:53:22
No he’s a sore back!

5.) 31 May 2020 13:54:10
Barca have badly wasted money these last few years. Coutinho, Dembele and Griezmann is money badly spent.

6.) 31 May 2020 14:44:46
Agree to a degree 6Times but Dembele is class and I would love him to play for us. Not saying he is worth 100m but he is a top player, we did have interest recently as well and asked Barcelona if he was available. Not sure if that ship has sailed but a quality player.

7.) 31 May 2020 15:48:37
I think Coutinho would be a good signing for us now. I think he will have learnt a lot from his experiences abroad and kick on working under Klopp, learning to track back, not be so wasteful and accept he's not the main man like he was when he was still with us.

8.) 31 May 2020 17:19:36
No idea why anyone wants him back.
We have been much better Without him, he doesn’t suit our play and he acted like a bit of an idiot to get out.
No thanks.

9.) 31 May 2020 18:55:15
Daretodream, you’re having a laugh mate, Dembele spends too much time playing xbox, eating McDonald’s and messing around. Notoriously poor attitude and Barcelona are trying to get shot of him. Not to mention the fact he’s made out of crisps and gets injured just getting out of bed. Balotelli mk2 that lad. Best avoided.

10.) 31 May 2020 22:19:47
Great replies, great website. Thanks all. One thing for certain, Becker and Virgil are more valuable to us than Coutinho, actually more valuable than two Coutinhos!

11.) 01 Jun 2020 00:39:02
I'm not totally decided one way or the other. Coutinio at his best was pretty good. But he left us dry and we have done well since he left. I think that's more due to klopp system and progression than simply coutinio leaving.

But as klopp boom says, Virgil and becker are way more effective than coutinio. And we have other great players now. Would he kick mane out of the team? No, not for me. 9mil sounds cheap but it's a loan we're talking about. That's not that cheap, and is that including his crazy wages?

12.) 01 Jun 2020 00:47:15
Another thing I'll say. When neville came out and said he wasn't sure coutinio was 140milliom pound player. He said he thought about 90 would be more accurate. Every Liverpool fan laughed at him and said "double that Gary"
He was our top boy. Players like milner and Henderson regurly fed him the ball. He and Firmino had a great partnership and played some lush football. I think his confidence was shaken at barca.

I also think we've moved on. If klopp went in for him I'd support him, but I won't be calling for his signature.

13.) 01 Jun 2020 06:53:52
We got rid of him at the perfect time. There's no place for him at Liverpool, his attitude before he left did it for me.

14.) 01 Jun 2020 15:54:31
Do we need him back I think the answer is no. But if Klopp brought him back in any kind of deal then I wouldn’t be too upset. I’m not one to hold a grudge and him leaving allowed us the money to bring in some fantastic players that have been great for us. In Klopp I trust.

Suarez; 'i won't celebrate at anfield'.
First words out my mouth ; 'you won't have anything to celebrate you little ****'
Cant believe what i've just seen, those players deserve it what a team.

Swiftykop

1.) 07 May 2019 23:54:37
Well said Swifty. I didn't appreciate the way he celebrated at their place and all of a sudden he recalls he needs to go back to Anfield and tries to fool us fans. I think we learn the hard way what a slime ball he is. But anyway, come what may the players used all of this in the right way to motivate them more.

07 May 2019 00:36:51
Hope the liverpool players have more left in them than i have because that result knocked the last bit of stuffing out of me, we've taken the most consistent team in prem history to the final day and it makes me sick to know that they are just too good over the distance. I booked days off for the last 2 games and now id rather work to take my mind off them.

Even a champions league final now would feel like a shallow consolation but i want it for the players more than anything, they deserve a medal.
Chins up reds, i know its tough but what a campaign, now to finish best we can, give the lads a champions cheer on the final day and get a well deserved summer break in, we go again next year! But for now city will have too much for brighton and they will want it so much more so its a case of how many they score for me, not for the first time i've lost interest in a season before the final game but never dreamt i would lose faith on 94 points with a game to go!

1.) 07 May 2019 11:37:48
I feel your pain, Swifty. I too, was a bit knocked out right after the game cos trust me, City were on the rack mentally cos they were drowning. Pep was losing it and even his subs. did not work and the longer the game went, the more City started to fade. I believe that had Kompany not scored a near worldie (even then, had the ball dipped a fraction of a second later, it hits the post), I don't think they win and in fact, I think LC punish them.

However, we still have one game to play and City still have to show up and play vs Brighton. I ain't buying the "Brighton are safe so they won't care" nonsense cos based on what Leicester and Newcastle have done this week, that is a non-argument and is completely baseless. The boys owe it to themselves to go out there and finish the season strong while we owe it to them to support them till the very last kick of the season. Whatever happens, happens and we move on. Red Till I'm Dead!

05 May 2019 23:14:37
Its been a strange year, i've supported 19 clubs in the league at least twice including united and everton, but my will hasn't been enough so im changing tact for tomorrow, come on city! Please don't miss all your chances or fall over the ball when you go through clear on goal, edison, please don't fumble everything that comes your way, Leicester will definitely lose.
Thank me later guys.
Been looking at the table a lot today as it might be the last time in an incredible season that we lead the pack, but just imagine if there's a huge shock on tomorrow and what it would mean if city crack under pressure, they're only human like the rest of us, while there's hope i won't let the dream die, and if city do drop points id play the reserves on tuesday without hesitation, if they win then we give Barcelona hell and see what they're really made of, whatever happens over the next 7 days thanks for the crazy ride liverpool its been the best season of my 29 years, this team isn't going anywhere and will be a force again next year.

Swiftykop

1.) 06 May 2019 04:44:56
Think I may put the first ever bet of my life on Man City winning today.

01 May 2019 11:00:24
Fancy us to cause Barcelona chaos tonight, all kinds of problems coming their way, who ever wins the prem would have won every league in europe this year, just a shame we compete for the same domestic crown! But tonight we show city what they can't do and produce it on the glamour stage amungst europes elite.

1.) 01 May 2019 11:17:58
Just praying Bobby is fit. He trained yesterday so here’s hoping.

2.) 01 May 2019 12:04:15
Well said swifty! We are the better team than city. I firmly believe that. There isn't much in it but i feel we are the more balanced team.

Anyone worried by real's interest in Mane? And could that be why we are showing so much interest in Brandt?

Eds and reds, does anyone know if Brandt plays on the left wing.

At the beginning of the season i said i thought mane would out shine salah. I got about 30 thumbs down. Doesn't sound so silly now.

I watched the mane press conference and when he was asked about madrids interest in him, he couldn't take the smile off his face. Perhaps it was just his reaction to a compliment but i have to admit, it worries me. I love mane, since his first pre season match i knew we had a star on the books. But he treated Southampton poorly when he wanted a move to us. I don't know.

We have obviously gone right up in stature since he joined and we are now one of the 4/ 5 best teams in the world, but that pull to the spanish league is still there. When asked about pipco's move, he said he was jealous, he meant; jealous that we had lost him but i think there was a bit of the subconscious speaking.

{Ed002's Note - You appear to be spouting nonsense.

To answer your questions: (a) Sadio Mane is certainly not first choice for Real Madrid - this has been explained. (b) Liverpool are not "showing so much interest in Brandt". (c) Nobody knows where Brandt plays - it is a complete mystery but we are hoping one day to find out.}

3.) 01 May 2019 12:31:36
He might rest him at toon if he plays later, bobby dropping deep and opening gaps for the team could be the difference tonight between a containing 1-1 and a big result, but against a deep sitting newcastle i think his contribution would be less devastating and origi could well do the job required, time will tell, big week coming up reds!

4.) 01 May 2019 14:18:48
benny- we might rest bobby for newcastle mate.

5.) 01 May 2019 17:48:29
Robbie, chill out, man. You seem to be overthinking things way too much, IMO. This is football, no rocket science. Sadio was asked about Madrid's interest and he smirked. What were you expecting him to do, exactly? Mane is on a short list of players that RM want and he is nowhere near their first choice and again, who says LFC will sell? What Mane and VVD did to Saints is what players have done to clubs in the past all the time so it is nothing new. If Mane wants to do that then that is up to him. Not really arsed about these things anymore. And lastly if you want to know where Julian Brandt plays, you can google or youtube him. It's that simple. Cheers, mate.

6.) 01 May 2019 16:07:58
Same as woodburn ed, we don't know wat his best position is, obviously Brandt more established.

7.) 01 May 2019 19:25:12
I hope it is nonsense ed02, but he had a big old smile on his face when asked about madrid liking him. And there were rumours that he was in talks with madrid last summer before zz left.

{Ed002's Note - That will be wind.}

For the senior lads coming back from injury I think a hot weather break could be good for them, but lads like elliot, Jones, neco ect. Even origi and minamino will be knocking on his door desperate to play in that game, see how it pans out but I reckon those players would rather start a competitive game at anfield than go on holiday, could be wrong though, I don't know any of them personally.

I'm in 2 minds Johnnyr, think he could make an effective box to box midfielder but i don't want to lose what he brings from out wide.

Well worth booking a room in liverpool anyway there won't be many bars without the game on and the atmosphere will be insane, took the girlfriend to watch the seville game and despite my horrible mood after the game she still fell in love with the passion in the city, 3rd time lucky for her to see us lift a european trophy our hotel was booked 10 mins after the whistle!

Thank you for the time and effort that goes into making this such a brilliant site. The insider knowledge is invaluable we are so lucky this is a free service, outstanding.
For the first window ever i won't be be anxious for new faces because of how strong we are already and we'll improve again next year through coaching and continuity alone, brandt would be a bonus luxury signing and maybe a few tweeks for cover but as long as we keep the best 18-20 players in the squad id be content if no1 came in.

Interesting to hear you don't rate busquets 001, I tried to watch him in the past to find out how on earth he or anyone else for that matter could keep alonso out of the great Spanish side, but every time I did he infuriated me with his dramatics to the point that I couldn't enjoy the game, so I still have no basis for an opinion on him.

Swiftykop

{Ed001's Note - his dramatics are his key skill mate, bit like Grealish, Zaha and the like. They win fouls when they have lost the ball or committed a foul themselves. It is incredible how bad the refereeing must be to not have spotted they are just blatant cheats. Busquets can't even run, he makes Molby of now seem mobile. Actually he makes me nan seem like a nifty mover and she has been dead for years!}

002 they're the most exciting words you could possibly say to a reds fan.
I'm going to take them well out of context and start spreading the news that this liverpool team is Klopps practice run, now its time for the globetrotters!

We have an incredible squad of players.
The greatest active manager on the planet in my opinion, certainly at improving players.
They will be hurting, a glorious title win to end a 30 year drought in front of their adoring fans has been taken from them so I expect the pain to drive them on to bring it home again, I think we'll be fine signings or not.
