In other news, our centre back has made back to back major finals, not bad for someone whose apparently replacable.
Well in Dejan, disappointed for our lads but good luck in the final fella YNWA.

The pace of international football suits him 🤝.

Ronaldo is pretty quick (under statement) and he handled him fine.

England's midfield is quick and they try to play quick, lovren had a blinder.

4.) 12 Jul 2018 05:38:51
Sorry but Lovren should have been sent off on the first half for two yellows.

5.) 12 Jul 2018 06:14:05
do you think the pace of mbappe will suit him.

6.) 12 Jul 2018 06:41:09
Not talking about individual players, I’m talking about he pace of the game, the tempo.

You may have noticed, there’s a big difference.

7.) 12 Jul 2018 06:54:14
It's the individual players that create the tempo of the game. Or just take away the word individual

It's the players that create the tempo. And the actual pace of individual players does affect help dictate the speed of the game.

8.) 12 Jul 2018 07:17:50
Yes they create the tempo by movement of the ball between phases, not through their own running.

If you haven’t noticed then don’t worry about it because it’s hard to explain unless you’re watching a game.

9.) 12 Jul 2018 07:27:49
I think Ron is referring to the pace of the game when the Croatian defenders had the ball, they wernt closed down fast (or much) and had plenty of time on the ball and when england had the ball we kept just launching it up the pitch, Lovren and Vida wernt exactly sitting on the half way line like he does at Liverpool.

10.) 12 Jul 2018 08:31:56
The pace of a game is dictated by how quickly the ball is moved and the pace of thea transition through arras of the pitch and phases of play. Not how fast the players are. The pace of international matches is considerably slower than league matches.

11.) 12 Jul 2018 10:56:55
I know what hlyour saying. You don't need to be fast if your reactions are quick and you move the ball quickly. But if you have players who are fast AND have quick reactions and make the right choices quickly then the game will be even faster. Obviously.

I just wanted to give some huge credit to Lovren, i think he's put his head down and worked hard and nobody can question his commitment, for me the best vvd partner by a mile, he needed to be led by the hand at Southampton and a strong partner has helped him no end, fair play lad.

Unfortunately, there are some people who will always see Matip as the better option. Some fans have just had it in for Lovren since he got here. They expected him to be Hyppia's next coming and when that did not happen they got on his back.
Glad to see Lovren settled down now and with VVD, they could form a formidable understanding for the next few seasons until Gomez is ready to step in for LOvren.

2.) 12 Apr 2018 07:08:54
I have always thought that 7080% of games Lovren looks the part, he Will have a run of games where he looks like the player we bought from saints but then he will bookmark it with a truely awful performance where he makes a glaring error leading to a goal.
He certainly seems to have improved next to VVD but you can’t blame fans for having reservations.

3.) 12 Apr 2018 07:13:19
If there's a lesson to be learnt from the last four seasons it's that Lovren has mistakes in him. He's the Mignolet of center backs, fine when's he's playing well but never far away from a howler.

I'm glad he's been playing well recently but we should not be planning for him to be a starting CB in the seasons to come.

{Ed0333's Note - I agree Putney. For me he’s an excellent back up.

4.) 12 Apr 2018 08:03:50
In fairness you can only judge players on their current performances. Saying Lovren was a good defender at Southampton is not an excuse when he was being so error prone for us. However I agree watching him play next to VVD seems to have improved his form and for me he was MOM on tue night.

5.) 12 Apr 2018 08:11:04
Let's not pretend he's Chiellini level dependable. If he put in performances like the City one every week then no-one would doubt him. The problem with Lovren is you don't know what you will get, sometimes he turns into prime Maldini, and then he has a game every so often when he turns into Titus Bramble. Seems to be a very high ceiling, very low floor type player and for that reason we can't rely on him. We need a quality CB this summer to partner Van Dijk.

6.) 12 Apr 2018 08:25:14
Perhaps his private life settling somewhat has helped his mindset. Hopefully so, for him and for his family which might lead to better concentration on the pitch and less errors. Def think he’s better alongside vvd. Also think vvd is better alongside him and with Karius behind them, there’s far more calm overall.

{Ed0333's Note - great point about his personal life didn’t think of that. Makes a lot of sense mate.

7.) 12 Apr 2018 08:58:20
Lovren seems happier too, maybe something to do with being bezzie mates with Salah or being partnered with VVD instead of being replaced.

8.) 12 Apr 2018 09:40:38
And apparently Lovren gave the half time speech on tue night that led us to the win. I think our players need to think before speaking to the media. Ox is hammering him on social media for this one.

9.) 12 Apr 2018 14:31:16
Lovren is great guy and loved by every player . great guy to have in our club and i really hope he keeps this form.

Im hoping the eds might have some info here.
How well received is Kevin Keegan at the club? Im 44 and i've seen lots of changes but one thing i do know is that Keegan rarely seems to get mentioned when we talk about great players of the clubs history, back then he was phenomenal as was Toshack so I just wondered how he's viewed within the club?
Cheers eds.

SuperGrob

{Ed001's Note - he was overshadowed by what came after him and he is remembered for the way he left for money. However, that is only the older generation at the club that remember that now. Most people now just remember him as a great player, but one who should have stayed and played with the man who completely overshadowed him - Dalglish.}

1.) 25 Mar 2018 10:30:12
Ed001, If Keegan hadn’t of left we may never have got Dalglish.

{Ed001's Note - not true, Dalglish was someone the club had been trying to sign for a while to play with Keegan. It was always the hope within the club that he would change his mind and stay but Keegan never did. The two moves were not related though.}

2.) 25 Mar 2018 10:42:24
Keegan was an excellent player for Liverpool but didn’t stay long enough to be remembered in the same bracket as players such as Toshack and Dalglish
He was around when we were just starting to come good.

{Ed002's Note - I would have thought Keegan would have played far more games than Toshack.}

3.) 25 Mar 2018 11:06:44
Wow, it’s mad how similar that situation is to the Suarez and Torres situation, Kenny was in charge when that happened as well! It’s like we were so close to an unreal strike partnership, twice.

4.) 25 Mar 2018 14:20:50
Hi guys, what was it that made Keegan so special? He was before my time so I never got to see him play but lookinginf at his goal scoring record he wasn’t very prolific, bobby has a better goals to game ratio for Liverpool than Keegan and up until this season people have been meaning about our need for a better goalscorer, thanks in advance.

5.) 25 Mar 2018 16:15:22
As I recall at the beginning of the 76/ 77 season both Real Madrid and Barcelona had expressed an interest in signing Keegan at the end of the season. Keegan's had was turned and he said that he would be leaving Liverpool and repeated this several times during the season. When the time came both clubs had dropped their interest and after all his bluster Keegan was compelled to join the only other club that had shown an interest - HSV.

Part of the deal meant the two clubs playing each other during the next season. The first match in Hamburg was a draw and in the second at Anfield Liverpool thrashed HSV 6-0.

6.) 25 Mar 2018 17:21:50
Let's not forget that Keegan won the European Football Player of the Year for 78/ 79 and 79/ 80. Right after leaving Liverpool. That's the equivalent of today's Ballon d'Or. No small feat, that. I remember watching him play a few games with Felix Magath (yes, the manager) in the same team at Hamburg. I don't remember which ones (if any) of Rush, Fowler, Toshack, Dalglish, Souness won recognition of being the best player in Europe.

7.) 25 Mar 2018 21:32:52
You’re right Ed.
Toshack was at the club longer but played fewer games.

Keegan will not be rated as highly as Dalglish because he sought his fortune abroad- but as someone above stated he was nominated twice for European footballer of the year whilst at Hamburg.

{Ed002's Note - I think you will find Dalglish also sought his fortune abroad.}

8.) 25 Mar 2018 23:40:17
Where do you mean OO2 - Liverpool in England or Cumbernauld in Scotland - or Blackburn ancashire or Newcastle United in Tyne and Wear?

9.) 26 Mar 2018 00:01:25
What do you call a broad (apart from a girl! ) - Cumbernauld, Liverpool, Blackburn or Newcastle-upon-Tyne? They are all within the UK as far as I can remember.

Just my opinion but id make vvd permanent captain as of now seeing as though Henderson is hardly ever fit, I would not complain at Gomez playing cb with vvd the rest of the season either.
Our midfield needs a massive change, i've always been in the Can might as well leave camp, he's not good enough, turning circle of an arctic and still what is it he does?
Id be going all out for a keeper and a quality midfielder right now and if Wiji thinks turning up to earn your wages is actually a thing then maybe he ought to start putting it into practice.
It has to come at some point, hopefully Klopp will watch the game back and realise a few things, i mean the moon is made out of cheese right?

Super, a few points. The GK and Gomez were not the issue last night as the whole team was poor. Gomez has also been error prone at RB so he needs to cut out his errors there first b4 he can move into the middle cos it is better for him to make mistakes out wide as the CB's and mid's can cover for him.

Also, No GK will be sold to us in Jan. VVD will not be capt. of LFC until Klopp sees that fit so that is a dead issue as if making VVD capt. would make him somehow grow wings and make his other partners play better as they and he included, were crap last night. Can is inconsistent at worst, IMO so if you want him to go cos he has a great game at City but a poor game here then might as well sack the whole team cos they were good vs City and all poor vs Swans. The only part I agree with you on is the Wiji issue cos he was a ghost all game last night.

Its only a circus due to twitter and peoples lack of patience, itll be no different to the Fabinho deal except we know this ones happening and nobody can wait to see what happen, Instead everyone wants somehow to vilify the owners for doing nothing wrong, it beggars belief.
There could be absolutely anything going on within the deal and on top of that how many times have any of us seen him play? personally the answer is zero, so why are we getting so worked up about a player we pretty much know nothing about?
If it happens great, If it doesn't we move on
Easy Really innit

But there is no info!
Im always happy to read Maccas posts like anyone elses but if someone else had popped up and said we're in for a top top player but i can't say who oh and by the way we probably won't get them theyd have been called out and laughed at by every regular on here.
If we had a name we'd be able to see if the info was correct after any said transfer but this just makes it easy to say i told you so about anyone that turns up.
Sorry Macca but ED025 is right this one is a bit nosensical.

Dalglish had that thing, that 3 steps in front in his head thing, just so intelligent as a player, Fowler was the ultimate striker for me and one of the best i've ever seen, of the two Dalglish was the better overall player but Fowler was just unplayable on his day
As for overrated Walter go and wash ya mouth out! Lol.

I agree with 025 I think uefa would love to stick 2 fingers up to the prem after our talking up 5 teams to the quarters etc, I can see us getting City too, hope not, anyone who doesn't want Sevilla or Roma is crackers lol! The team I do not want with our love of bus parkers is Juventus.
