Eds,

Do Liverpool still hold interest in Sessegnon? Or is the relationship between the clubs still too poor for it to be a realistic possibility? My hope was that time and dealings with Fulham could result in some mended fences.

StraightTalk

{Ed001's Note - the interest is still there but I very much doubt we will be making any move for him as things stand. There are other priorities.}

1.) 22 Feb 2018 12:59:32
He is tailor made to suit Klopp’s style. Would fit in with ease. Proper wing back and what a good title player.

2.) 22 Feb 2018 13:23:39
He’s said he wants to play left wing so I think that’ll be it for us.

3.) 23 Feb 2018 10:22:56
He’s off to Spurs £50m. Never going to come here.

21 Jun 2017 11:24:17
It now looks like Liverpool will move their attentions towards Cresswell of West Ham.

StraightTalk

1.) 21 Jun 2017 12:08:01
Heard similar, but I really don't rate Cresswell. He's really slow, defensively he's weak and he's also 28. So no real potential to improve. Would much rather us just pay big money on Mendy or Tierney.

2.) 21 Jun 2017 12:09:27
I don't mind that. better than Robertson defensively and can take set pieces too.

3.) 21 Jun 2017 12:31:37
Better option than Robertson in my opinion. He's a Liverpool lad and has stood out for me as one of the better players in a poor West Ham team.

Decent on the ball and not prone to may mistakes, quite solid defensively. Not going to set the world alight with his performances, but an upgrade on what we have for sure.

If he could just convince Pedro Obiang to come along with him that would be LB and CM sorted for me.

4.) 21 Jun 2017 12:34:50
Personal don't rate him as an improvement from what i've seen of him at west ham, Mendy would be ideal to sort a problem position. Outside of this I would go for bertrand.

5.) 21 Jun 2017 12:40:02
Juts go and buy one class player. This position has been crap from ages!

6.) 21 Jun 2017 12:41:46
For what its worth I don't think he's great but since Mendy was taking the piss with his wage demands it is the more sensible option. He would add a balance to the team being left footed and his set pieces are better than what we have.

7.) 21 Jun 2017 13:24:48
As much as i like young players with potential we have to get a squad ready for CL next season (or EL but let's hope we win the game) .

I haven't really seen anything from Cresswell as i normally just watch the liverpool game on the weekends so i can't say how good he is but 27 is a good age. Id rather have a solid LB with a little bit of experience then a youngster who makes mistakes.

Also i think if moreno works on his defensive behaviour he could be a really solid LB.

8.) 21 Jun 2017 14:05:35
Did everyone think Mendy was this top class player this time last year. Or had they never heard of him like me. There seems to be a lot of fuss being made about him and I bet most people have probably just seen him play a handful of CL games.

9.) 21 Jun 2017 16:08:01
A bit cynical. Monaco were on BT a hell of a lot last season, so there were plenty of opportunities for people to see him play. He also featured in a lot of team of the seasons. And if you put any faith in the opinion of pundits and some journos, who were banging on about him all the time, you'll know he's top quality.

Ryan Bertrand actually seemed like a no-brainier before the VVD fiasco. Would have been ideal, in my opinion.

10.) 21 Jun 2017 19:52:58
Didn't realise LFC fans were die hard Monaco fans as well. I know I've never thought ' I'll stay in tonight and watch French club football'

11.) 21 Jun 2017 21:28:24
Mendy is way too expensive in my opinion. Yes he is a really good player but he would cost a furtune and his wage demands are crazy for a LB.

As much as i like to see the best players in the world playing for us we still have to think about the financials. We can't afford to pay a LB 180k a week when our best players probally earn less. I don't think a LB has evern been the highest paid player in any team ever.

We should take a look at Gaya from Valencia. 22 years old, Played almost every game last year and has huge potential. He won't be cheap as well but cheaper then Mendy for sure.

12.) 21 Jun 2017 23:18:55
Who knows what represents a good deal at the moment. Fees are outrageous and Mendy seems like a good option, even with Monaco's valuation. If Liverpool thinks it can afford him, who are we to argue?

And this whole ridiculing fans for paying attention of what happens in leagues outside the Prem just seems ignorant to me.

13.) 22 Jun 2017 01:11:39
If Moreno works on his defensive abilities? So his marking, tackling, positioning, if they were all to improve then sure he might be a decent left back, but these are all things that should come naturally and then be improved upon, you should not have to teach a left back in his mid 20's the basics.

14.) 22 Jun 2017 07:53:11
Pedro Obiang. give me a break, may aswell bring in mark noble aswell then.

{Ed001's Note - if you had watched the Hammers play, you would know there is a huge difference between the two. Obiang had to carry Noble most of the season.}

15.) 22 Jun 2017 12:26:12
Moreno has all the ability, but lacks the decision making ability, he ends up diving in making stupid tackles, where really all he had to do was stand off the player and make the player pass backwards giving his teamates time to cover back.

05 Jun 2017 15:28:03
Hi Eds, does anyone know of any alternatives to Keita we're looking at?

And do you expect the club to still look at someone like Luan even with Salah joining?

StraightTalk

{Ed002's Note - (a) Not since Kessie. (b) And Solanke.}

1.) 05 Jun 2017 19:18:57
I expect Klopp to go back in for Paredes!

2.) 05 Jun 2017 19:40:35
Solanke took his goal well today. Looks a shrewd bit of business.

{Ed025's Note - i dont know if you seen the game FMS but he was not all that mate, not that calvert lewin was any better when he came on, their goalie was awful for his goal and he missed a couple of sitters, hes only young though and has time to improve..

31 May 2017 21:46:17
Grahame Kelly, who was pretty reliable throughout the Rodgers sacking is reporting (tweeting) that VVD is 'done'. Seems unlikely given what has been mentioned but the guy has a fairly sound track record.

StraightTalk

1.) 31 May 2017 22:02:45
Never heard of him before this, but if he is to be believed, VVD is done, interest in Keita is serious and Oxlade Chamberlain is likely. Couple that with Ed002 confirming we will push for Robertson and Brandt, plus Solanke being a done deal, and you can see the summer shaping up to be pretty busy.

That is 6 signings right there and it is pretty likely we will push or a young left back, maybe a right back, and maybe Luan!

Ahh I love transfer windows haha!

2.) 31 May 2017 22:10:21
Yep been following him for years, sound guy and knows his stuff.

3.) 31 May 2017 23:04:42
Assuming I'm looking at the right guy he appears to just be recycling what all the press is saying.

4.) 31 May 2017 23:10:38
The times just reported city are to make huge offer for van dijk and offer huge wages to go with it😱 That's us out of it I reckon. money talks 😛.

5.) 31 May 2017 22:47:49
Looking like vvd is the big signing.

Solanke is to me anyway giving sturridge and origi another year.

Lb, rb and rw.

Id say pereria, tymon and salah.

Lets see how we will line up

Karius
Pereria matip vvd milner
Hendo
Mane wij coutinho salah
Firmino

Mig, tymon, lovren, can, lallana, origi, sturridge.

Squad. gomez, klavan, taa, flanno?, lucas, solanke, woodburn, ejaria, grujic.

Few loans and salea scattered around there.

6.) 31 May 2017 23:54:14
Wasn't he the FA chief during the 90s😜.

7.) 01 Jun 2017 07:00:16
Why do we need another centre back when we already have two world class players in Lovren and Klavan?

Maybe as a saftey net when Bayern and Madrid come calling for the pair next season?

8.) 01 Jun 2017 08:38:37
Kelly says VVD is done. But not necessarily for us.

9.) 01 Jun 2017 08:56:17
I miss Macca 💔.

16 May 2017 14:33:09
Hi Eds, I know you mentioned a while back that Brandt might want assurances about a game time and recently it has been reported publicly too. I was wondering (and it might be a bit of stretch) if Klopp talking openly about Coutinho dropping deeper in future might have been a way of making space within the starting XI for Brandt?

StraightTalk

{Ed002's Note - No, it would make no difference. If Klopp wants to persuade Brandt he needs to get permission to talk to the player from his club, or perhaps tell his agent, that he will be first choice at Liverpool. With Douglas Costa's situation unresolved Bayern Munich could again look to Brandt, and if Costa moves, then they will be able to assure him of plenty of game time as Ribery sees out his last season. Else he will likely bide his time unless Spurs come calling.}

1.) 16 May 2017 14:52:39
With this in mind ed is Luan being looked at instead of Brandt or not really related?

{Ed002's Note - Unrelated - Luan is a striker and would be a replacement for someone like Sturridge.}

2.) 16 May 2017 16:05:39
I read today in a German publication that Brandt has decided too leave Leverkusen because of them missing out on Champions League?

3.) 16 May 2017 16:13:46
Ok mate fair enough, I read that he could play LW thought he might have been an alternative. You think Studge might be making thr club think twice about selling him after his cameo at the weekend?

{Ed002's Note - It would be playing him out of position.

The club has been sustained in their quest for a centre forward and it is likely they will continue. If Sturridge stays it has to be considered a risk based upon his availability in recent years.}

4.) 16 May 2017 17:07:03
Thanks for the reply Ed. Just found the timing of it a bit strange, I was probably just reading into it too much.

Personally I think another wide is vital for us next season, not to compete with Mane but to compliment him on the opposite side. It just gives Klopp more options and flexibility as we've looked blunt and one dimensional at times when Mane has been missing.

{Ed002's Note - That is why Klopp wants Brandt.}

5.) 16 May 2017 17:45:16
With Dembele and Azmoun not happening. Is there anyone else new that we are now lucking at mate, or have you mentioned them previously?

{Ed002's Note - None beyond those discussed as far as I am aware.}

6.) 16 May 2017 19:02:29
Ok mate cheers. I would be happy with Luan, I think he will link up well with Couts and Bobby. Will see.

7.) 16 May 2017 19:13:52
Hi Edo2

Re. Brandt, despite the player's concerns, do you feel that a reasonable a chance of a deal being done still remains? In your view, should LFC persist?

Could you see Klopp soon drawing the line on this one and moving on?
If so, what viable alternatives are there/ been looked at?

Thank you in advance.

{Ed002's Note - In order to happen the player needs to drop his demand or Liverpool need to offer a guarantee - which they have done in the past and Klopp has been happy to announce his number one pick in some cases. He is the player Liverpool want, Bayern's interest may also return. Alternatives have been looked at as was explained in the Sharkopod.}

8.) 16 May 2017 19:56:33
It cracks me up Ed002.Players requesting guaranteed playing time.

Will these same players be seeking assurances if they get injured 🙄🙄🙄.

{Ed002's Note - It has become a very common thing - most clubs don't entertain it.}

9.) 16 May 2017 20:13:19
a previous user debated ....................

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what your problem is. I have explained all the way along about Liverpool wanting a left winger and I have explained over and over again the situation with Brandt - and I have said other who the club have been looking at. You would perhaps do better simply going elsewhere.}

10.) 16 May 2017 20:29:07
It's not just football clubs Ed002.

When it comes to Liverpool away, I ask my missus for permission/ playing time. She doesn't entertain it lol . Apparently the 19 home games are enough for me these days, my three year old son probably makes it a plausible.

Mind you, I managed to wangle West Ham away at the weekend, the meeting in London Monday morning did trick
😎😎.

Can any of the Eds give any information about the supposed bid for the club over the past few days?

Is there any truth in a bid? Are the club still considering a sale or selling a minority stake?

Thanks.

StraightTalk

{Ed0333's Note - I’ve always wanted to do this RTFP & use the search engine...Thankyou for making my fantasy into a reality straighttalk.

Ha ha ha, straight talking for StraightTalk!

09 Jan 2018 11:28:07
Hi Eds,

Although Liverpool have plenty of strikers on their books, the future of many of them looks far from certain. (Sturridge, Ings, Origi), are the club looking to add a striker over the coming months?

StraightTalk

{Ed002's Note - I would not be surprised to see something happen in the summer but you need to remember Solanke has already been added this year and between the three you mention the number of games they have played for Liverpool this season is very small.}

1.) 09 Jan 2018 11:47:32
Vardy for me all day. Swop and cash with Studgie.

2.) 09 Jan 2018 12:03:43
And who does Vardy replace? Firmino? Think you have to have more than one string to your bow to play for Liverpool at the moment.

3.) 09 Jan 2018 13:03:07
Vardy? What the hell have you been smoking.

4.) 09 Jan 2018 14:48:47
Mr Dennis, that thing John Henry said they smoke at Arsenal.

5.) 12 Jan 2018 10:02:25
Looks like he will be joining the mancs. Unbelievable. Gutted.

04 Sep 2017 14:10:40
Any of the Eds have any information on Clyne? There has been very little mentioned about him, he was initially missing a few weeks but now he's not been selected in our CL group squad even though we still have room available. It's all been very quiet surrounding him.

StraightTalk

{Ed002's Note - He is listed as injured by the club but they have given no detail of note and have not said when he will be available again.}

1.) 04 Sep 2017 20:43:59
some injuries are self inflicted.

08 Aug 2017 09:45:15
Ed02,

Firstly, I agree Liverpool have acted appallingly throughout the Van Dijk 'saga'.

However, if you read Liverpool's public apology again, it states that we respect Southampton's stance on the player and withdraw our interest as a result. If Southampton accept his transfer request then it is clear their stance on the player has changed. Logically, but perhaps not ethically, that would give Liverpool a route back in to conduct business?

StraightTalk

{Ed002's Note - You are kidding right? You are now suggesting that the club is going to use the nuances of the English language and hidden messages in the apology to leverage a position in this matter.}

1.) 08 Aug 2017 10:07:30
We need to pay what the Saints want and grovel with an apology for causing this issue (rightly or wrongly) . Then accept the Saints may never do business with us for a very long time and we become more of a laughing stock.

Only then would we see VVD in a Liverpool shirt this season.

2.) 08 Aug 2017 10:30:54
Eds, if the player says he is only interested in moving to Liverpool and refuses all others, do you think this would result in a move to us? Or is this just wishful thinking? Surely his position is totally untenable now and is just a question of when he moves. Imagine his first game at st. marys! Saints fans will be even more vile than normal with their chants! I was there last season and their chants were pretty tasteless all round. at least lovren will get a breather hey. Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Sure he might get his way. It puts both the player and the behavior of Liverpool in the spotlight. His position has been untenable for quite a while and Southampton are clearly very unhappy that it has come to this and they will be looking to sell him. As we stand right now, there is remaining interest from Chelsea and Arsenal, there is interest from Manchester City but if they are to add an expensive player elsewwhere in their squad then he may well be finincially beyond their reach. Then there is Liverpool who publically withdrew all interest and Klopp has made clear he is not looking to add to the defence - perhaps he has lied, nothing seems to be beyond him. Don't completely rule out an offer from abroad - which Southampton might be willing to listen to.}

3.) 08 Aug 2017 11:11:11
Good call Ed
Think his style of play would suit La Liga.

4.) 08 Aug 2017 11:22:19
Ed two klopp didn't say he wasn't looking to add to the defence, he said he won't buy just because someone is available.

Im absolutely not trying to be disrespectfull or insult you. Also I agree with you that we have behaved appallingly.

Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - You may want to go and check some of the things he has been saying Jay.}

5.) 08 Aug 2017 12:07:59
Managers lie all the time. Its a filthy, ongoing habit that give desperate fans unrealistic expectations and encourages the gullible press to write false headlines. It should be outlawed and Wenger, Klopp, Mourinho, etc, should be made to scrub toilets anytime they buy players for positions they have previously suggested they don't need. Changing their minds or tactics midway through a transfer season should be punishable by rotten cabbages and the stocks.
It has been known for certain managers to state that one of their star players is not for sale at any price. The transfer window progresses and guess what? The aforementioned players gets sold in a multimillion pound deal!
BUnch of fabricating, falsifying, fabulists and fibbers if you ask me.

09 Jul 2017 15:55:15
Hi Eds,

Do you have a feeling as to how Liverpool will go about the rest of the transfer window?

Clearly our 2 top targets were Keita and Van Djik, now regardless of what has gone on both seem unlikely to say the least.

Do you think we will pursue alternatives or is it a case of the players we want aren't available so we'll wait it out. Maybe they try to force a move or we get them next year?

I'm not advocating either route its just we have seen very little in terms of alternatives and although the window is still open for 2 months pre season is now underway and our first competitive game is just over 1 month away. It seems we're leaving things a little late.

StraightTalk

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool will still look to add players. I don't get this "leaving it a little late". The transfer window has been open for one week only.}

I don't believe Murphy said it was close just that he wanted Liverpool to sign him and thinks a deal could still be done. For what its worth Liverpool and Southampton now at least have some dialogue and Edwards is not getting completely blocked out of conversations.

Ojo picked up an injury to his back and was only back in training towards the tail end of the season when the team was pushing hard for 4th place and he wasn't match fit. I'd agree that a loan would be best if he wasn't to get any game time next season and it would be perhaps smart if a Premier League club are interested to help with his recovery.
