BBC Gossip linking Pepe Reina with a return.

1.) 01 Jun 2016 00:45:04
Surely not. was past his best when he left and we have just signed a keeper.

2.) 01 Jun 2016 09:19:11
Interesting link. His distribution is definitely right up Klopp's street, but he did have a couple of error strewn seasons before he left. At only 33, he's still young for a keeper.

My view is this would only be credible if Migs was on his way out. Leaving Karius and Reina to fight it out for a starting position - probably Pepe to start off with - and then Ward to come back after a year long loan.

I think it could be a very shrewd move with an experienced, generally reliable keeper who plays to the strengths of the team, with Karius then learning and adapting as heir to the jersey.

Wouldnt be too upset if that transpires, but having Migs, Reina, and Karius, as well as Ward on loan, would be crazy!

3.) 01 Jun 2016 13:23:58
Just wondering, if the above does transpire, and Reina comes in and Migs leaves, has there ever been a situation where a player has been bought to replace someone else, who leaves, and then comes back to replace the replacement?!

Only one I can think of is Rushie and Aldo, albeit Aldo stayed for a bit longer and overlapped with a returning Rushie for a season.

Any others? Any clubs.

4.) 01 Jun 2016 14:52:13
Only one I can think of is Lukaku at Chelsea who came as 'the new Drogba'. Then he left and Drogba came back.

5.) 01 Jun 2016 16:04:25
If you follow the BBC link to the star article (which itself was a rehash of an old foreign article) you see it was clearly written before we signed Karius but only just published. Bizarre.

6.) 01 Jun 2016 16:13:23
I would love him back at the club, rogers made a boo boo letting him leave IMO. A great back up option who could genuinely push for No.1 spot.

7.) 01 Jun 2016 22:03:49
Wrong, Von. I wanted BR gone but giving Reina the boot was one of the best decisions he ver made. The man was aweful for two years prior yet was taking the mick out of us boys saying he would either leave or stay while winking at Barcelona to come for him. If another player did that, you'd be on to of him like rash but because its Pepe, you give him a pass. He is old and no longer wanted here. Karius is the future, end of.

8.) 02 Jun 2016 08:14:22
Pepe seemed to lose his desire IMO, a bit like Enrique but not as marked.

1.) 25 May 2016 16:50:48
Joel Matip is not £0
He took £3.8 million signing fee.

2.) 25 May 2016 17:14:18
Mid table signings.

3.) 25 May 2016 17:20:17
Well what do u expect . Lfc are mid table

This is that wonderful time of the year where clubs will tel Liverpool . He cost 5 . 10 . 15 . Or 20 or 30 million. And lfc will offer 2 or 6 or 11 or 13 or 26 million
Spurs Chelsea and any other club will pay the money straight away . Get their man. And lfc will be buying the 3rs or 4th choice option . End up mid table again because their results are inconsistent and average with highs and lows theougout the season
It's just a fact

Liverpool should be selling lallana and definitely coutinho complete overrated players. Play one game score and then go missing for ten and then pop up with 1 good game then disappear

And then one of them ends up with lots of awards at the end! Wow.

4.) 25 May 2016 17:33:54
Ja Kurtz i wonder, do you think we should only spend above our means, only buy "marquee" signing. Do you think Mahrez and Kante were giant names in football for only the top clubs in Europe when they signed for Leicester. I find that a ridiculous statement by you, but to be fair you are allowed your opinion and me mine.

5.) 25 May 2016 17:36:09
Have we learned nothing from Leicester this year? Don't write players off as "mid table" signings without actually seeing them in action for Liverpool. I'm sure if we'd signed Mahrez or Kante when they were unknown i'm sure they'd have been criticised too.
£20 million doesn't necessarily get you quality as we have proven many times in recent years. And as Leicester have proved a good team is better than 11 stars.

6.) 25 May 2016 17:41:40
Can't say that for grujic and Karius as they are young and full of potential, may turn out to be top signings.

7.) 25 May 2016 17:57:10
I don't actually mean that we are looking at bad players or that won't be good. What I mean is we need a hell of a lot more instant quality than we are looking at right now to close the gap.

8.) 25 May 2016 18:02:27
Maybe seem mid table signings on paper but so do Leicesters entire current squad - if they fit in to klopps system and play with the heart he seems to demand, welcome aboard. Rather have that than a big name for 40 mil who doesnt. Happy to spend the cash for someone of proven class to elevate the team but for now let's hope 15 mil for 3 players turns out to be shrewd business and the start of us not over paying for not even nailed on quality buys.

9.) 25 May 2016 18:23:57
Red lobster, you are a clown and need to see a doctor as soon as possible. Sell Couthino I hope you are messing because if we continue to sell our better players we are going nowhere fast and it's idiots like you who will be complaining about the constant turnover of players year after you but yet expect us to compete without trying to get a team that is settled and actually buy into a certain style of play.

10.) 25 May 2016 17:53:38
We are also after a winger- the eds mentioned an interest in rafa silva.

11.) 25 May 2016 18:56:38
Kurtz writing the team off even before the season starts, now that's a surprise.

{Ed091's Note - kurtz is a troll. Ignore him.

12.) 25 May 2016 19:05:17
Philippe Coutinho is not as irreplaceable as most people think as he is more than capable of changing a game but he is too inconsistent at the same time and goes missing for large periods of a season. Jurgen Klopp doesn't build squads around a single player and will instill even more camaraderie amongst our players and they will progress under his guidance. If we are going to play 433 next season then we need a CB, LB, RW and LW as we are stacked in every other position.

13.) 25 May 2016 19:11:46
Fans like him must fill the team full of confidence. Clown.

14.) 25 May 2016 20:09:26
Red Lobster is a troll who predicts us to lose every game. Pay no attention.

15.) 25 May 2016 20:12:55
Yeah ignore me :) bet what I say happens though.

16.) 25 May 2016 20:21:57
Yeah let's see how LFC get on next season if we lose Coutinho. Some people here!

17.) 25 May 2016 23:34:03
It's not about spending a lot of money, it's about going and getting your first choice option.

07 May 2016 15:20:39
Shkodran Mustafi

Liverpool are contemplating a move for Valencia centre back Shkodran Mustafi. He is 24 years old and spent several years at Everton before being released in January 2012 and signed with Sampdoria. He played over 50 Serie A games and even scored a goal against in Atalanta 2014. After 2 and a half years in Italy Valencia offered a reported €8 million which was accepted and has since played over 60 games and scored 6 goals in La Liga. He is a full German international and was a member of the 2014 World Cup winning squad and made several appearances during the the tournament. With the suspension hanging over Mamadou Sakho's head and the unsuccessful season that Valencia have endured could mean now is the perfect time to approach the young German.

1.) 07 May 2016 15:40:33
Per the Ed's, he will have a number of options come the summer.

2.) 08 May 2016 03:23:57
Cant imagine if he is a target that he will be coming cheaply.

3.) 08 May 2016 07:10:49
Is there a German international we haven't been linked with yet?

4.) 08 May 2016 10:34:15
All the german internationals are a somekscreen, for we have gone all out with our war-chest for the One to Rule Them All - M. Reus.

5.) 08 May 2016 14:53:42
All apart from klinsmann and Voller! Ps i'm sure lothar Matheus could still do a job!

6.) 09 May 2016 18:28:52
I think that we will always be linked with German players as under Rafa Benitez we were linked with most Spanish players.

7.) 10 May 2016 12:51:23
As I remember, we bought a lot of Spanish players while Rafa Benitez was the gaffer.

25 Dec 2015 23:15:08
Latest rumours suggest that we may sign a defender and striker in January to cover the consistent injuries obtained by these positions. Nevan Subotic and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Dortmund. This I believe is largely lazy journalism as they are also claiming that Lucas may be sold to raise some funds. I can see some departures within the next 5 weeks and more drastic changes in the summer. let's not forget that we still have Joe Gomez and Danny Ings to return from injury during the summer and hopefully Jon Flanagan would have showed enough resilience to not only earn a new contract but also our starting right back berth. Top four is in our hands now as most of the tougher opponents need to visit Anfield and it is time the Kop woke up and started intimidating the opposition again.

1.) 26 Dec 2015 02:45:18
There's no way Dortmund sells Auba when they're competing for a CL spot in Europa (and doing well at it) and also still in contentious for the Bundesliga title (in 2nd behind Bayern) .

2.) 26 Dec 2015 17:21:34
Aubameyang. as cover. genius! No really! Might want to lay off that sherry trifle a bit.

3.) 27 Dec 2015 12:57:41
Heard a similar rumour that Messi might be brought in case Llalana does his hammy.

4.) 28 Dec 2015 04:22:17
Flanagan to start? Over Clyne? You're having a right laugh mate.

{Ed001's Note - Flanno at his best is a far better player, the only question is if he can get back to his best.}

5.) 30 Dec 2015 01:43:32
No way is Flanno a better defender than Clynne in any shape or form.

{Ed001's Note - yes he is. Bizarre how people forget how good Flanno was, while overlooking just how poor Clyne has been.}

25 Oct 2015 12:03:02
Now Tim Sherwood has finally been relieved of his duties by Aston Villa Tiago Ilori may force his way into the first team picture. This will allow Jurgen Klopp to assess whether or not he will be returning to us next season. Apparently JK is speaking with the agent of Mario Balotelli to assess hhow Mario sees his future.

It has been a very long time since I last posted but this is absolutely wrong on all levels.

I remember H&G and the whole feeling around the club until they left but this is different. I am eager to see what happens with the league as we would have already prepared our legal teams for all possible outcomes.

I doubt that the relationship between us and FA and PL is salvageable after this and we are already UEFA's favourite team due to love of fireworks.

Can you see any players wanting to stay if they are banned from international tournaments or do you believe like me concessions will be met to appease all parties.

26 May 2018 22:35:03
First of all, thank god the season has finally finished. I would have loved a trophy but we were exposed in the final as not possessing sufficient depth.

Sergio Ramos deliberately injured Mo but that is part of his style of play and he ended up lifting the trophy.

Trent was out of position for much of the game and this lead to the Bale wonder strike.

Karius had a nightmare but replacing him with Butland is not the answer.

Just like the Europa league final 2 years ago we lost due to the occasion being to big for one of our players (Moreno 16 and Karius 18).

We need to bring players that have won trophies into our squad as we lack them with the exception of James Milner.

1.) 26 May 2018 22:41:33
Nothing is stopping bales goal, we didn't make any stupid mistakes bar iscos chance, lovren and VVD were solid enough. Really disappointed in the fact that after Salah went off we just never had a a chance to give it a go.

2.) 26 May 2018 22:41:47
Ramos on Salah looked accidental to me.

3.) 26 May 2018 22:43:39
I'm sorry but Ramos didn't deliberately injury Mo. I have been in the Octagon with Jiu-jitsu experts who couldn't grab, roll and dislocate a shoulder like that. It was an accident, unless of course Ramos has been trained by Royce Gracie for the last year and mastered the Kimura, whilst moving, and being the wrong way round. Liverpool lost due to two shocking errors by the goal keeper, a lack of depth on the bench and a stunning goal.

4.) 26 May 2018 22:46:40
are you serious fireman? thier first goal was an absolute gift from Karius. He should be sold on that error alone.

5.) 26 May 2018 22:46:42
I think a few more than just 1 player found the occasion too big tonight. This had a similar feel to the Utd game and the only player that looked like he wanted it tonight was Mane. The rest might have huffed and puffed but that's the minimum you should expect from a player. I love Klopp but I think he was a little lost tonight when Salah went off. We don't have strength on the bench to replace the quality on the pitch nor do we have the ability to change things. Klopp has to be backed this summer with top players to take us forward and get Moro be the squad. And he has to be backed without us selling one of our stars to fund it.

6.) 26 May 2018 22:49:37
Please watch the video again.
Very much intentional.

7.) 26 May 2018 22:52:59
Lol very intense about joy-jitsu man.

8.) 26 May 2018 22:53:03
Ramos is the master of the dark arts. He is probably THE master. It was purposeful, of that I have zero doubt. Shell shocked us. Not been injured all season and going to miss the world cup. I feel sorry for myself but more sorry for mo, for all the boys. I'm heartbroken for them lads, proper gutted.

9.) 26 May 2018 22:54:43
Lads we are Liverpool both the greatest amd worst team in the world to support. its the hope that kills you. anybody born after 82/ 85 knows that we can compete but ultimately its in vain. We are the greatest team for giving the supporters hope just before we take it away. its a hard loss to take amd we will move on but who would blame Salahis for wanting to move on he just scored 44 goals this yr and ended up with **** all. Hendo is the Cpt of this club. let that sink in. Carragher. hyppia. gerrard. Souness. Thompson etc etc have all worn the armband and we now see it fit to be worn by a fella who wouldn't get his place in any top side in world football. Maybe im just pissed off and hurting but god it feels. im. being punished for having both the privilege and burden of supporting this club.

10.) 26 May 2018 22:59:31
I’ve seen it a few times, doesn’t look intentional at all sorry.

11.) 26 May 2018 23:01:07
I think he did it on purpose (in ju jitsu the opponent is trying to stop it which Salah wasn’t) . If not trying to dislocate his shoulder specifically then trying to injure. Any which way- it was a foul was it not? You can’t grab and roll. I don’t want this to be an excuse for the whole game which we deserved to lose but debating this incident in isolation it was a foul and the game changed. This is the dark arts. Some call it experience. It wins games.

12.) 26 May 2018 23:07:49
Ease off Hendo fruitba mate, he is hurting and he is our best midfielder, he's a great captain. Thought wijnaldum was class tonight, there was a point when I thought he might take complete control of the game.

13.) 26 May 2018 23:35:38
Stone. We stick together. We don't jump on players mistakes. We are Liverpool. YNWA or have you forgotten this.

{Ed002's Note - You are Jopling I assume. All of this “We Are Liverpool” nonsense is looking incredibly embarrassing.}

14.) 26 May 2018 23:37:31
Ramos, has every trick in the book. some call it professional football, I think too much of it and the game ceases to be football. He did not mean to injure Mo but he did get his arm over Mo’s shoulder, cleverly locked arms and fell down to bring Mo down without having to put a foot in to concede a free kick. Unfortunately, this clever foul led to Mo getting a nasty injury and probably missing the World Cup. Other games Mo gets up and Ramos thinks I nullified that threat with a clever foul and fooled the ref. This time he has to watch a player miss out on the most important game of his career to date.

15.) 26 May 2018 23:43:04
Ed2 it’s just the words of one of our terrace songs. To the tune of a Bony M song. I think it was actually released on 7 inch in the 80s but has had a revival on the kop in recent years.

{Ed002's Note - Regardless, extremely embarrassing.}

16.) 26 May 2018 23:51:32
I'm not embarrassed, I'm proud of the lads. Yeah we lost to the better team but we were the team that gave em z game. Not barca, bayern, juventus, City or utd. Not to mention napoli, psg, spurs and athletic Madrid.

17.) 27 May 2018 00:09:38
Ramos was deliberate. Also tried to get Mane in trouble by holding his face when going down by minimal contact on his knee. He's a disgrace.

25 May 2018 23:15:37
One more sleep to go.
This is better than Christmas.
To all of the fans in Kiev stay safe and for everybody else "Alliez, alliez, alliez"

This has been the longest 3 weeks of my life but come 22:00 on 26/ 05 when Hendo lifts ol' big ears it'll all be worth it. Ramos early booking after Marcelo leaves space for Salah and 2-0 to us.

What score has everybody bet on?

1.) 26 May 2018 01:57:18
3-1 salah first goal.70-1
2-1 mana first goal 70-1
Win win. Bring it home boys.

2.) 26 May 2018 02:54:59
Hate betting on scores. You can end up in a situation of not wanting to score. It just takes the shine off a tad if it loses. Good luck though. I'll say 4 1 liverpool. Mane brace.

10 Jan 2018 14:37:28
Sad to hear about the passing of Tommy Lawrence.
I wasn't even born when he played for us but I have read many books and watched countless programmes about the foundations that Bill Shankly built.

1.) 10 Jan 2018 14:51:02
I had the pleasure of watching the likes of Tommy Lawrence and Rowdy Yeats, Tommy was a no frills keeper, and a gentleman to boot .

{Ed025's Note - i remember tommy, ron yeats and tommy smith pulling the bar down at anfield so that the opponent had less to aim at with a free kick HTBR, he was a colossus of a man and a fine keeper and a great loss..

2.) 10 Jan 2018 15:45:47
YNWA Tommy 🙁.

3.) 10 Jan 2018 16:46:54
RIP Tommy Lawrence, you gave us great memories, I had the pleasure of sitting on the same table at a dinner with Tommy and other members of the 1965 cup winning team they were all very nice men and Tommy stood out as being very special YNWA.
Red Tag.

06 Jan 2018 20:32:00
Condolences Ed01.

{Ed001's Note - thank you very much SP.}

1.) 06 Jan 2018 20:49:12
I second this ed. You've been wonderful on this site down the years and there's support from everyone here mate.

{Ed001's Note - cheers DRM, I am very appreciative of everyone on this site, honestly.}

We have wasted several potential world class youngsters over the last few years. Tiago Ilori, Joao Texeira and Suso by not giving them enough game time to grow.

We are now also being linked with Kieron Gibbs former injury room team mate Thomas Vermaelen. I highly doubt that there is any truth in either arriving as it is injuries which cause the vast majority of our issues.

I believe we would make a profit on Roberto Firmino but have a revolutionary thought, let's not sell our top assets.

{Ed041's Note - he washout best player in the second half of the season for me. If GW price went up after his poor showing last season RF value will of definitely increased.

Well said mate. Within a decade we have gone from the brink of administration to clawing our way back into the CL as well as playing in several cup finals along the way. We have a squad filled with top quality players and are joint top of the Prem as one of 3 unbeaten teams. Incidentally we now have the easier run of fixtures as we have played all of the top 5. Our team may not be firing on all cylinders but we are still competing YNWA!

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool were not on the brink of administration and in the decade ("only" a decade in your view) the club has not won anything - unlike many others (but that seems to be just fine with the fans for reasons I don't understand).}
