Mignolet will not be sold today.
Some European team will then offer something below our asking price after the window closes as they know Liverpool need to get rid.

This window closing early is absolutely horrible for English clubs.

S.G.L.

1.) 09 Aug 2018 11:25:15
How will the English transfer window closing today effect the sale? He hasn't been linked with an English club and we don't need to replace him?

2.) 09 Aug 2018 11:46:49
I think there will be a lot of European clubs waiting for our window to close then look to pick off players from the prem as teams get desperate to offload them. To be fair though, why shouldn’t they? All clubs want to get the best deals they can.

3.) 09 Aug 2018 12:27:37
The teams should be given credit, because I'm sure they considered all the pros and cons before making the decision in favor of a shortened transfer period. They're all multi-million pound enterprises with professionals looking at everything. Maybe the transfer period being open during the beginning of the season was too much of a disruptive headache? But I do see the decision as not being too wise a move for EPL teams, and could have been postponed until next summer when there was no World Cup?

4.) 09 Aug 2018 12:51:58
We'll struggle to get what we want for our fine players anyway, the window being open or closed didn't really effect it.

Not a rumour but a question about transfers.

How do transfers work and what is the role of kit manufacturers in it?

e. g. Cristiano Ronaldo is a top Nike Athlete while Real Madrid is sponsored by ADIDAS.

Opposite with Messi

Is there a conflict of interest in this case?
Messi wearing a NIKE Barcelona jersey is obviously not ideal for ADIDAS

Do Adidas/ Nike try to move their top clients to clubs which are sponsored by them? If yes, how does it work?

Do they agree to pay a part of their fee?

S.G.L.

{Ed002's Note - In the vast majority of transfers the parties involved are the two club and the player - plus any part owners (rare now), agents etc.. It is nothing to do with the kit manufactures. Adidas and Nike sponor both players and cubs. There have been a tiny number of potential transfers that have seen the involvement of kit manufacturers - two obvious examples being Messi. There is no conflict of interest.}

1.) 02 Jan 2018 10:19:03
I remember that years ago ed. didn't you say adidas tried getting messi to Chelsea? And now Man City? Tginkbthr chelsea one came pretty close didn't it.

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with Manchester City - Chelsea and Anzhi.}

Berger signed 21 years ago, today.

I never saw him play. Was he a good player EDs?

S.G.L.

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

1.) 01 Aug 2017 14:40:32
I would RELISH having Berger in our team now.

{Ed025's Note - i prefer..wonchop..

2.) 01 Aug 2017 16:12:26
Don't recycle that old joke, 025. You'll only make a hash of it.

{Ed025's Note - nice zed..

Hey ED001
You must have attended a lot of football matches whilst standing.

Is it true that people would urinate on each other, suffocate to the point of passing out.

How would the kids handle such a thing?

And why wasn't it outlawed long before Hillsborough?

S.G.L.

{Ed001's Note - it was before my time, but my grandad, as one of the St Johns that provided medical assistance at the grounds, used to tell me tales about the injuries he had to look after and me ma has quite a few stories of suffocations. It was the introduction of fences that made her stop going to games, as she always said people would die because of them, as she had needed to escape onto the pitch a number of times to avoid a crush.}

1.) 30 Jun 2017 09:46:33
I started off in the bozs pen and graduated to standing in the main section of the Kop around 1965.

Occassionally, people who couldn't get out would pee down a rolled up newspaper but not very often.

People regularly passed, especially on hot days, out and would be passed down to the St John's overhead.

The kids handle it fine. Most of them loved it but people would steer them away from the roughest areas.

In the sixties there were always plenty of people with calm heads who would make sure any hotheads didn't get carried away. Overall it was hot, rough and seaty but a huge amount of fun.

In the seventies, crowds got a lot less pleasant and very aggressive. Games between ourselves (or Everton) and Utd, Leeds, or Chelsea were regularly marked by violent clashes. Stabbings weren't uncommon although they are very rarely anywhere near the ground.

I stopped going regularly during the seventies, partly because of work but also because of the hatred and violence.

The all seaters today are certainly not as much fun as the sixties but vastly more pleasant than the seventies and early eighties.

Hey ED001.
With all the noise going around on safe standing, what is your view on the issue?
Should standing be brought back? Or is it too much of a risk still?

S.G.L.

{Ed001's Note - it should never come back, there is no such thing as safe standing and you only have to ask paramedics about the amount of crush injuries they have to treat at events where crowds stand, rather than sit. People see it as the answer to all the issues of lack of atmosphere, even though it is not. Until stadiums stop being full of people who are too busy watching the game through a screen, or texting their mates etc instead of just getting involved in singing and shouting, the atmosphere will continue to be crap. It would have a far stronger effect on atmosphere if it was impossible to get wifi and mobile phone signals inside!}

1.) 25 Jun 2017 06:09:18
which means itll never happen ey ed? i don't see that changing for some time really, it is the internet age after all.

{Ed001's Note - exactly. Sadly people would rather watch someone else living a life on a screen, rather than actually going outside and experiencing it for themselves.}

2.) 25 Jun 2017 07:16:32
The worst one of the lot is people filming games, I just don't understand it. Never been able to see the logic behind it.

{Ed001's Note - nor me mate. They are actively watching the screen, rather than it live. What on earth is that all about? People are so desperate to ensure other people know what they have been up to, they forget to actually enjoy the moment while they are there.}

3.) 25 Jun 2017 08:53:16
People going to any live event and filming it are morons and missing the point of actually being there, which is being there in the moment, not being able to relive it somewhere else later.

4.) 25 Jun 2017 09:51:47
Some of the best atmospheres I've been in have been at all-seaters.

5.) 25 Jun 2017 10:37:48
BVB's yellow wall is a massive all-standing spion kop stand and I never hear any bad things about it?

{Ed001's Note - just because you don't hear them, doesn't mean a thing.}

6.) 25 Jun 2017 10:47:03
And yes, all-standing can indeed partly solve the atmosphere problem. You get a better atmosphere when groups of mates are all together, something much more possible with safe standing as you're not allocated specific spots to stand in.

{Ed007's Note - You are still giving a specific seat number and spot to stand, it's not just a free for all where people just stand where they want. You get allocated a seat number just like anywhere else in the ground and unless your mates get season tickets next to you you're relying on the generosity of others to swap positions to let you all stand together.}

Me too Ron. Remember a panto of Peter Pan, starring Vanilla Ice as Captain Hook, as a personal favourite!

Suarez mentions in his autobiography that Glen Johnson was the most skillfull player or the best player at the club.

Something like that.

Is he just being funny?

The autobiography is pretty boring to be honest, not worth a read.

I take it your Medel Love in is still going strong ED001.
Remember your posts from back in the day, how hurt you were when Cardiff signed him and then when he signed for Inter after Cardiff were relegated.

S.G.L.

{Ed001's Note - he has been just about Inter's only decent player since going there. I still believe we missed a trick badly and still need a player like that.}

You can buy all official Liverpool merchandise in India from Shopredlabel.
I doubt they have the new kits just yet. Wait for a few weeks and I'm sure they'll get it soon.
