We were discussing this yesterday Seano, at the game and then in the pub afterwards. again. It doesn't work, there is no consistency in the application so why not simplify it. For offsides if your foot is on side it stands, any other part of your body is often being used to propel yourself forward so shouldn't come into it. mane's hip a few weeks ago as he arched to head it, firmino's arm. even sterling's hand at the beginning of the season.

Similarly, for handball if it's used to control the ball to derive an advantage, blow the whistle. Using last night's game as an example, salah was deemed to have handled - it hit his mid riff, TAA handled, he fell, ball bounced up and hit him whilst his two hands were on the floor. It was ridiculous. Needs simplifying and a big screen like in the rugby to be used. Simple and effective.

Doesn't matter what keeper came in. It could be Oblak, Alisson, De Gea or even Buffon in his prime - the goalie position at Anfield will generate so much scrutiny it will be untenable.

We either back karius to be mentally strong and become an outstanding keeper or play an extra outfield player with an option to wear a pair of gloves.

There really is no other option. Whoever comes in will face a barrage of abuse the first time they concede.

It will have been easier taking over fergie's aging squad!

Thanks Boof, just reminded if a point I was making to a couple of mates the other day. Social media causes more problems than it resolves, particularly when emotions are high.

Getting back to keeper issues. Whoever comes in, if they do, will probably have only slightly less pressure on them than moyes had after fergie. Yes, our team is in a better state than when he left utd, however, we are believed to have has this problem position for a long time now, a fact that has been exacerbated by tv n social media, especially after a good 2nd half of season but the scrutiny on any new keeper that does comes in will be absolutely phenomenal and will be unprecedented in their career experienced to date. That's another issue we need to prefer for its a poisoned chalice!

If we are we were to go after a top keeper who realistically is proven in the prem?

Read this site a lot. seen the arguments for Oblak. very highly rated but play a for a better side in La Liga n tbh there r only really 3 quality sides. hus being the most defensive in nature.

Allison. i admit I've only seen him twice. against us as highlight reels are pointless. but he conceded 7 in 2 games. and we sat back in 1 game! Again. he plays behind a supposedly more defensive side in another league Serie A.

I like Karius and he hasn't played a dull season yet. Yes he's made his mistakes but what keeper hasn't? I think if he can get over the mental aspects we may well b talking about him as the missing piece. If not we are in same boat as before.

The point is. not 1 of the currently linked keeper play behind an attacking side like out's and none are prem proven. so we could be facing at least a year for them to settle. de gea didn't set prem slight in first 2 years. ronaldo took a few years too. granted they were younger but foreign nonetheless.

I would stick with karius if not trying ward n see how mental state plays out. It will make or break. hopefully the former.

Grujic may become the defensive-minded mid we are craving. though that will stifle his forays forward.

Anyone considered Joe Gomez as a possibility for defensive mid? Tends to read game quite well and often plays closer to the centre halves than TAA. he can tackle and is good in the air. plus it doesn't look like he will be playing centre half any time soon.
