There is a piece in the Spanish media ( Diario Gol) from Marco Asensio saying he had offers from five clubs including Liverpool, but club president Florentino Perez did not want to sell.

Is this true? and if it is, do we know when this was?

1.) 20 Feb 2018 11:35:08
Pinch of salt. Zero chance he will be playing for us.

2.) 20 Feb 2018 11:41:58
I've literally just asked about him on the Real Madrid page. I would love Liverpool to be interested, he is an exceptional player who bafflingly isn't getting much time at Madrid (despite the season they are having) .

I expect that there will be teams with much more money and in much more glamorous locations than us though. Which is a shame.

If we can prove that we can challenge at the top for a couple of seasons then that is the sort of player we will be able to go after.

{Ed002's Note - There was an enquiry last summer from Liverpool that was discussed at the time. There are a couple of sides still interested and there has been a couple of discussions with one.}

3.) 20 Feb 2018 11:43:11
Probably did ask and Agent. listened to offers. But was a typical tactic to get RM to play ball.

{Ed002's Note - This was dealt with last summer.}

4.) 20 Feb 2018 11:56:16
Cheers Ed, would that enquiry have been before the club bought Salah?

Or is that unrelated? Perhaps he was seen as a potential replacement for Coutinho?

{Ed002's Note - Yes. Last summer Marco Asensio was the subject of interest from Arsenal who were looking at one time to replace Sanchez with him, Liverpool who saw him as an option to Brandt, Monaco as part of any deal for Mbappe and Juventus amongst others. Interersted sides were told he is not for sale and Real Madrid were unwilling to have discussions with clubs about the player although they were concerned that they would be tested by Barcelona looking to pay his release clause - in which case it would be down to the player to decide if he would be open to a move to Barcelona. That never happened of course. More recently there has been interest from two sides and there has been some discussions with one. The Liverpool interest dates from early June.}

5.) 20 Feb 2018 12:29:48
I guess we can expect the inevitable frenzy linking him to us as part of a deal for Salah.

The question is, would that make it a more palatable deal if it did happen?

6.) 20 Feb 2018 12:32:22
Cheers for the info Ed much appreciated.

Must be said i'm surprised you haven't suggested a Salah/ Asensio swap deal to wind up a few people on here!

{Ed002's Note - Cash, plus Keylor Navas and Dani Ceballos on loan with an option to buy would be more likely.}

7.) 20 Feb 2018 12:57:25
Maybe they'll throw in Vazquez as well Ed, if we still have an interest? 😉 direct Salah replacement on the right 👀.

8.) 20 Feb 2018 13:44:06
Hope they have 200 mil lying around :) wouldn't really be interested in staggered payments!

9.) 20 Feb 2018 16:32:59
Haha, i don't even think its possible that LFC could be that dumb.

10.) 21 Feb 2018 01:27:46
Do we know if the player wants to leave? Or if real are trying to sell him to finance neymar and/ or hazard? Do we know how big of a fan of his Klopp is? Seems lately if Klopp wants, Klopp will get the player he wants.

31 Aug 2017 14:20:21
Rangers are negotiating over a loan deal for Woodburn. They want a 1yr loan with option to buy. That would be a decent move for the lad.

1.) 31 Aug 2017 14:30:22
No option to buy! Why sell out best talents?!

2.) 31 Aug 2017 14:27:36
Would be shocked if loan to buy seems like klopp really rates him and he's looked a class above at u23 level even at 17! Loan maybe possible.

3.) 31 Aug 2017 14:27:52
Liverpool will not sell him so hows it a good deal.

4.) 31 Aug 2017 14:28:15
Option to buy?
How would that be a good move for Woodburn or Liverpool, when clearly he has a bright future.

5.) 31 Aug 2017 14:29:02
Option to buy!?!?!

Have you lost the plot mate. Why would we sell one of our best young prospects leave us before he can mature into a decent player!?!?

And, no. Rangers!?!?! Woodburn needs to play for a better side, no offense to Rangers, but the Scottish league is far from competitive.

6.) 31 Aug 2017 14:30:40
The loan, maybe BUT there should be no option to buy.

7.) 31 Aug 2017 14:31:04
How is that decent? the loan yes but the option to buy! he is one of the most talented lads in your youth systems makes no sense to give them the option to buy.

8.) 31 Aug 2017 14:34:42
I guess that's the only issue as we want a straight loan. He could impress in that team/ league and come back a better player.

9.) 31 Aug 2017 14:36:38
How is that a decent move?

10.) 31 Aug 2017 14:38:14
A year in Scotland playing for Rangers is a great move for him. THEY want an option, we don't want to. The loan is still on.

11.) 31 Aug 2017 16:00:33
Spl is like league 1.

12.) 31 Aug 2017 22:32:52
Considering Rangers just loaned Forrester to Wimbledon in League 1 that isn't as unfair a comparison as it first seems.

11 Aug 2017 12:22:41
Coutinho has put a transfer request in according to Sky Sports. Any news on this Eds?

{Ed002's Note - As you are aware Coutinho wants to move to Barcelona - the club do not wish to sell him, and this would be him pushing a little harder to get the move he wants.}

1.) 11 Aug 2017 12:39:18
It's been rubbished by Pearce and Reddy. SkySports sources are probably Man U fans. 😂

Who knows. Could be an interesting end to the window.

2.) 11 Aug 2017 12:39:29
James Pearce in response: "#LFC adamant that they haven't received a transfer request from Philippe Coutinho"

3.) 11 Aug 2017 12:33:33
Melissa Reddy saying the news is untrue. Seriously I'm done with transfer windows now. Once upon a time before we became a selling club, they actually used to be fun!

4.) 11 Aug 2017 12:35:01
James Pearce has said Liverpool are adamant they haven't recieved a transfer request.

5.) 11 Aug 2017 12:36:24
Ed 02, what does a transfer request actually mean? Does it change anything regarding Liverpools stance over the transfer? Thanks as always.

{Ed002's Note - It means the player is willing to forego his 5% of the transfer fee to try and get the move he wants. The club don't need to accept it.}

6.) 11 Aug 2017 12:43:01
James Pierce says no transfer request has been handed in. Bit of a mystery but I'm sure he'll be gone by the end of the window.

7.) 11 Aug 2017 12:46:54
Is this an indication that we are past the stage of asking him to stay for one more season ala Suarez or could that still happen even after a request?

{Ed001's Note - a transfer request can be rejected.}

8.) 11 Aug 2017 12:48:51
If a transfer request is handed in, the club does not accept it, but then later sells anyway is the player entitled to the 5% as the request was rejected? Or as he handed it in is the 5% void regardless? Probably a silly question just curious thanks guys.

{Ed002's Note - If the club formally respond to the player rejecting the request, then yes.}

9.) 11 Aug 2017 12:51:07
Let the boy go. He deserves a chance at winning things.

10.) 11 Aug 2017 12:55:51
SSN are saying their source is blaming the club and quoted Suarez and Gerrard in that "Liverpool do not let players leave amicably" and that he has tried very hard to find an amicable solution. The plot thickens.

I'll just nip onto Ancestory. com and find his 4th cousin that gave them the info.

11.) 11 Aug 2017 13:01:14
Fakenews move along nowt to see here.

12.) 11 Aug 2017 13:45:14
Only matter of time though.

Nice and easy question for a Sunday morning.

What does Klopp, the club or the players need to do to stop the rot, stabilise and regain focus and form?

1.) 28 Jan 2018 07:56:20
Wait for rot first- see what it looks like- then action.

2.) 28 Jan 2018 08:16:29
Spend the money.

3.) 28 Jan 2018 08:25:59
Liverpool losing against bottom and 2nd bottom of the prem in consecutive games off the back of 24 games unbeaten in rot. It’s a bad break from normal service that needs to be recognised, identified and rectified before it becomes the norm.

4.) 28 Jan 2018 09:47:14
I rekon the fans need to lift the roof off of Anfield the next time the lads trot out there. A tense and anxious anfield will cruciy the players' confidence. I know the players are responsible, but we're just not that tough mentally. the best way out of the rot is for everyone to be on the boat paddling together, fans at match day and on social media included!

5.) 28 Jan 2018 10:05:21
Need a signing to boost everyone at the club
Team and fans.

6.) 28 Jan 2018 10:37:20
We are not as bad as the results show. let's give the opposition credit, both have new managers and they have followed a game plan to frustrate and take advantage of our weakness. We still created enough chances to win the game.
We don't have a devine right to beat a lower place team. Give them credit and wish them luck. Good Luck West Brom.

7.) 28 Jan 2018 13:35:22
Don’t pick Can as captain ever again.

29 Aug 2017 12:16:59
When do we accept that Hendo isn't a natural captain and can not control a game in the way that the stereotypical captain should. He is a great guy and a good footballer but I fear that as a player who is near impossible to drop he will hold us back.

As for an alternative captain? VvD if he joins could be a vocal lynch pin at the back but what about Can. The kid is an exceptional footballer and we are close to losing him. A regular role and captaincy could make that him such a better player and asset for the team.

What do you think? IMO, no major club should struggle to Instantly name player who have captain attributes.

1.) 29 Aug 2017 12:32:06
Hasnt school started yet?

2.) 29 Aug 2017 12:33:43
Emre Can for me. He looks like a tank out there in the middle!

3.) 29 Aug 2017 12:37:09
Klopp would, I feel, have no hesitation in droppen Hendo, weather it be to rest him or rotate him. He can't play every game this season. No reason to drop him as captain. He seems to have respect throughout the squad. Keep him as captain.

4.) 29 Aug 2017 12:38:37
I think you're wrong and Henderson is a great player. He's getting back to form and he sets the example on the field.

5.) 29 Aug 2017 12:39:23
I think you've missed the boat. Henderson is not the most technically talented player but he makes up for it with hard work, determination and passion for the club. Can is a very suitable vice-captain in my eyes. But I'd wait to see both the performances and how VVD gels with the rest of the team (if he joins) before appointing any sort of captaincy on him. The first thing captaincy does is add a huge amount of pressure. Some players can't take it.

6.) 29 Aug 2017 12:45:02
Have to disagree on that one. I think a lot of fans expect our captain to be Steven Gerrard Mk II in both leadership qualities and playing ability. He's never had the playing ability of Gerrard, although before his injuries he was vastly improving all the time. I thought his leadership against arsenal was spot on. He kept hammering Lovren for his positioning and man marking until Lovren eventually got it right. His pressing was on point as well for me, and I don't think he had a bad game at all (except his one on one chance which he fluffed) .

I think the trouble we have with him is that soon enough we'll have a midfield which doesn't require him from a playing standpoint but I certainly feel his leadership takes us up that extra notch and would be difficult to replace at this moment in time.

7.) 29 Aug 2017 12:47:36
Whoever said he was impossible to drop and how is he going to hold us back, exactly? A captain does not have to play every game as it is physically impossible to do that. He will be rested in certain games as we have a busy season. Don't know what you are moaning about, really but it seems illogical and pointless.

8.) 29 Aug 2017 12:55:34
Ohhh you mean emre 'shop window performances'can, instead of always perf9rming, working harder than All, fought against all the odds, walk into any premier league midfield Henderson?

9.) 29 Aug 2017 12:58:28
This whole post is a joke right?

Don't you remember how poor Can looked in Klopps first season whenever Hendo wasn't alongside him to talk him through the game?

And as for your VVD comment? Vocal? VVD is about as vocal on the pitch as a mime. How can he call the defensive line when he is never bloody in it? He is positionally inept and you think he will help others with their positioning? Good individual player but he is no leader.

10.) 29 Aug 2017 13:01:17
He is played in a wrong position to me that lead to his downfall! His best attribute is his energy and pressing. Should play high up. He is no controller or creator to play deep. His passing is average hence he always prefers safe sideways passing. Keita in all fairness will replace him with Can / Wiji taking the position alongside of Kieta!

11.) 29 Aug 2017 13:03:00
Couldn't disagree more.

Not only is Hendo in my eyes an excellent leader and with him on he pitch we look far more organised and confident, but he is a crucial player for us and we sorely miss him when he's injured.

Technically sound with a good range of passing, but his drive, energy and passion are crucial for the way we play with Klopp esp.

Remember what happened in 2014 when Hendo was suspended and we lost the title? With him perhaps it could've been different.

Really feel for the lad as he has been constantly and unfairly abused by sections of our fan base for his whole time here, time to pay him some respect and appreciate how crucial he is for us.

12.) 29 Aug 2017 13:22:19
Hendo is our captain! He doesn't have to be a gobshite to be a good captain. too many players have too much to say and don't do the business on the pitch. He was part of a midfield 3 that would have been a match for the best midfields across Europe Sunday and led my example with the press and ball retention. What is a stereotypical captain these days? What is a stereotypical midfield player by the way? The game is changing rapidly and your stuck in the past if you want a tall centre half with a head bandage screaming at everyone and the ref to lead our team!

13.) 29 Aug 2017 14:15:05
All the Hendo bashing really irritates me and its all because he's not Gerrard captain fantastic. He is supposed to be deployed in the number 6 position and how many players get assists, goals, unlock defences etc from there? His passing is excellent, it's much better to wait for the right 'killer' pass than to just chuck it forward in hope. I think people need to realise that most players, even the really good ones, are not Gerrard or Alonso.

Monday chip paper round up:

Lamar In (£55m)
Sanches In (£30m)
Migs Out (Napoli)
Origi Out (Loan)

No mention in the rags about Phil apart from a piece about him not being good enough Into the team, which is nice from a form perspective but complete BS.

No mention of Virgil which makes a change.

Saves you buying a paper, nothing to see. please move along.

1.) 28 Aug 2017 09:59:33
I don't think I have bought a paper in years anyway, not worth the paper they are printed on.

{Ed025's Note - or it could just be you being a minge bag mikey?.. :)

2.) 28 Aug 2017 10:29:04
Hahaha no ed025. It just dawned on me one day that I wasn't actually reading news but more the opinion of someone who owns the paper, each one has its own agenda and will report a completely different slant on the same story to suit whatever hate speech and agenda they wish to spread.
You get your right wing papers who will blame anybody who isn't white and the death of princess Diana for all the worlds problems.
The left wing papers will blame anyone who earns over the national average wage for all the worlds problems.
I see a lot of problems in the world and I think the problem is blaming other people, nobody likes to look at themselves, their own intolerances etc, just mud slinging. So I see news story's now and make my own mind up, try and look at all sides of a situation not just the one being fed to us by the media.

{Ed025's Note - its hard to argue with that mikey..

3.) 28 Aug 2017 10:51:45
Mikey minge bag lol.

22 Aug 2017 21:29:16
Eds - A bit of a strange one this but have you heard anything about Man City sounded clubs out as they are looking to move Leroy Sane on already due to some business they are looking at before the window closes and us being asked if we are interested?

{Ed002's Note - No. Twitter is this?}

1.) 22 Aug 2017 23:15:10
Ok, thanks. Lol, No. I wouldn't even waste my time asking you about a Twitter rumour, you have more than enough doing that to keep you busy already. This is from someone connected to Raheem. It seemed too crazy to even make up but it's not from the sort of person to BS.

2.) 22 Aug 2017 23:46:06
Worst rumour of if the summer.

12 Aug 2017 13:31:43
Does anyone have the numbers for Nicky Tanner, Phil Babb, Barry Venison and Steve Nicol?

{Ed001's Note - I do for Nicky Tanner, who has a new book out incidentally if anyone is looking for a good read.}

1.) 12 Aug 2017 13:41:32
I think a bid for Steven Caulker might be on the cards!

Baz.

2.) 12 Aug 2017 13:44:24
Does he fancy a book signing in Germany on Tuesday, and when I say "Book Signing" I mean 90 minutes of Champions League football.

What a bunch of clowns. He either said NO to AFC or they have decided to keep Sanchez. If we got a medical done last night then we are good to go. Just a shame that they bumped the price.

Sorry if this has been covered numerous times but I’m sure I am as intrigued as others as to why we wouldn’t look at him give we will be in the market for a striker and he is the best that is available regardless of baggage.

Ok, so Klopp doesn’t like him and we won’t be bidding. It’s a shame the player doesn’t feel the same way or it would make the situation easier.

This was Auba, only last year.

'Klopp explained that when you come to play for Dortmund, the first season always happens in this way — it’s an apprenticeship.

'He helped me to understand that things would be better the next season.

'He told me, "I know that you young players want everything right away. But you have to learn".

'I worked hard in training, I stayed behind after training. That’s what helped me to shine in the Bundesliga because I scored quite a lot of goals despite some difficult games in the league.

'Klopp gave me strength of character and helped me progress. He’s a charismatic person and I have a lot of respect for this man. '

Seems like someone who would not only fit perfectly into the center of our front three but would also score endless
goals with the type of service he would be getting from the 5 around him. Sturridge will be going so we will be buying, I just don’t see anyone better coming available who we could have a chance at getting. Unless he really thinks we could get the Frenchman or thinks there a chance we conks get Lewandowski in the summer.
