A happy new year to you Eds, an thank you for your tireless work.
Ed2 You have in detail explained how the transfer mechanisms work. Can you educate me on where these set of transfer "laws" are coming from, and who has the control of this market? Would there in the future be a possability to change how this market functions? It seems to me that the agents power and economical benfits are far to heavy.

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure what you mean by “transfer laws”. The rules governing transfers are provided by FIFA and the local FAs. I am not sure what your concerns are.}

I'm a foreign Liverpool fan since early 70s. I have sadly never been to Anfield, its one of my dreams to visit the city of Liverpool, and Anfield.
I'm a bit curious about the Pipco situation vs the Kop. With all these bridges on fire now, how would Anfield and The KOP treat Coutinho if he comes back in the team? I know that Suarez was forgiven for his madness, but Sterling not so much.
After all, these players leave the fans very disappointed.

Depends on if he goes on strike I'd guess.
Personally I'd have no issue with him staying or going.
I just want either him to work hard as usual if he stays, or a fair transfer offer if he is to go.
£90m would have been a good offer in previous windows, this has clearly not been a normal window.

2.) 17 Aug 2017 02:12:46
I suspect it'll be like Suarez or Torres, if he stays the fans will continue to support him, if he leaves then we'll forget about him and move on.

3.) 17 Aug 2017 03:16:24
Sterling went to a rival team so he would never be forgiven, but we can’t really hate players for wanting to take up a chance of playing for Barca. It is every players dream to be there or Madrid at some point in their career.

If he comes back into the team and plays the way we know he can, there won’t be many complaints. If he sulks and plays rubbish, the booing will start.

4.) 17 Aug 2017 04:18:39
He'd most likely get a good reception. Were he to leave, it would be seen as a move to supposedly further his potential (Barcelona), whereas with Sterling and City it was seen to be one of greed, an obnoxious agent, and somewhat of a lack of gratitude for what Liverpool had done for him.

5.) 17 Aug 2017 04:40:06
Forget about who smeg? Aah, him! 118 mill? Snap their hands off.

11 Aug 2017 20:11:49
How about taking a Torres/ Carrol twist? Drain Barcelona for let's say £125 mill, then make bids of £80 mill each for Keita and VVD? Would that make our team weaker or stronger on the field?
I guess its only a dreamthought, and would be hard to produce.

Both don't want to sell but if we cave on couts who is to say they won't either? Either way it's dirty all around and no matter what happens or doesn't this does not bode well for the upcoming season.

3.) 11 Aug 2017 20:40:02
If we sell Coutinho for 125 mill then I bet VVD and Kieta's selling price would also become 125 mill apiece.

4.) 11 Aug 2017 20:42:10
Isnt it all about money these days? Those clubs would also have their braking points.

5.) 11 Aug 2017 20:42:42
I disagree. It's not ideal. But because we can't get Kieta or VVD (seemingly) why let Phil go? Then what's he going to do? Sulk and not play in a World Cup year? More likely he'll play out of his skin so he can get his move next season and we've got 12 months not 3 weeks to sort out a proper replacement. On replacements Roberto can play that deeper role, so a quality front man is needed.

6.) 11 Aug 2017 21:01:51
I would agree with you Fab, that's IF Coutinho could master all this turbulence. I fear he's about to burn his KOP- bridges. Im not shure if Coutinho is that strong mentally.

Roberto is the one left I fear most if Coutinho leaves. Those two has got a special understanding on the pitch. Pipco gone can effect Roberto negativly.

7.) 11 Aug 2017 21:04:51
I agree no sale. Keep him for the season, he needs to play so won't play up. We continue pursuit of Keita and Van Dijk. If we get both great, if we only get one fair enough and if we don't get any then play waiting game.

We start looking for replacements for Coutinho through this season and maybe even agree a deal.

8.) 11 Aug 2017 22:13:44
Suarez did much worse, and yet FSG stuck to their guns, and didn't sell to Arsenal. So I think they'll do the same here and Coutinho will still be here by the end of the window. And if he's smart he'll realize he has more to lose by under-performing or not training well. He simply needs to put his head down and get on with it. If he's lucky he could get his move in January. And then there's the World Cup. I don't give any weight to Barca's posture of "now or never". They waited 2 or 3 years to get Dani Alves. A similar time for Arda Turan, too. So if they want him they'll be back.

What boggles the mind is that the LFC back office has still not got it's act together. Ed002 has stated that prices for the player have been given. Did anyone check with Klopp if that was okay and if he agreed with the intention? If they asked and he said no, then they should have listened and avoided this frosty situation between player and manager (Klopp is not going to look at Coutinho the same way again) . If they asked and he said okay because he had a replacement in mind, then Klopp should have made sure he got his man in. You can't blame the un-anticipated Neymar and Keita situations or bad luck. This is what real man management is all about. Not just hugs on the field. (I fully support Jurgen Klopp by the way and don't hold him fully responsible. I do hold the owners responsible though for not putting into place a clear management structure with a DOF with years of experience, at the top. I read about people shuttling in an out of the LFC office every 2-3 years, and it's always the same mistakes and the same egg on the face in the media and with the fans) .

Keith Richards of course, to boost the rock'n roll at Anfield :)

I'm a bit concerned about Manes injury. We've seen so many times how a knee injury can set back players pace, and Mane i particular feeds a lot on his pace and his quick movement. I do not know how serious Manes injury was/ is, but I guess several months out must indicate a serious injury. What is your knowledge on this one Eds?

Redskin

{Ed001's Note - impossible to say. A lot of it is up to the mind to deal with.}

1.) 17 Jun 2017 16:02:08
Was the injury a meniscal tear? If so it's not a contractile structure such as muscle or tendon so should not impair power. The importance is post injury recovery and strengthening. Given the time in the off season this should easily be achieved. The biggest issue is return to normal football related activity such as accelerating/ decelerating and twisting/ turning. Much of this will come with preseason games. Therefore we may not see him at his lightning best until he has 10 games plus under his belt. Certainly wouldn't have any major worries so long as rehab is conducted properly.

Cheers.

2.) 18 Jun 2017 00:25:48
I thought it was an ankle injury?

{Ed002's Note - Knee cartiledge.}

3.) 18 Jun 2017 00:00:33
Thanks a lot for your replys, I guess there is a good chanse we'll se Mane on his best again. He is the kind of player our club have needed for many years. Unpredictable pace combined with a good nose for goals is always golden. Mane has fearfactor.

4.) 18 Jun 2017 09:42:41
Ah thanks ed. I never pay to much attention and assumed ankle due to way he fell at the time of injury. Knee cartilidge isn't as bad as ligaments. I'm ex military and have had both in separate knees respectively. The one with ligament damage is far worse nowadays.

Klopp must have forseen the scenario loosing Matip/ Lovren. I would guess he just have a lot of FAITH in Gomez. Maybe WE should support this?
I really really like Gomez. He's got pace, he's calm, he has ability on the ball. He may lack a bit of rutine, and some belief in himself. Maybe both Klopp and me would have chosen to ease the "kid" in over the season, but HEY, he might grab the PL by the balls, in september!

The home Dortmund game. Watch it. Sakho scored, that's nice. But look at his positioning on some of the Dortmund goals. That isn't impressive defending. I really don't care, if Klopp don't want the guy in the group, its clearly for a reason. I'm "happy" with that.

Tho I have to say, Sakho haven't moaned. That shows some kind of caracter.

I wonder, is this tapping-up behaviour, a long term Liverpool FC habit, or is this about FSG`s transfer policy? As I dimly recalls the FSG (in their early LFC days) said something like: "We won't overpay for any player".

Tapping up players, and also loosing out on preferred targets on small cash principle seems to have become far to common in this club.

It all smells mediocre to me. But then again, it could just be something wrong with my nose.

{Ed001's Note - it was going on long before FSG.}

Ok Ed001, then Sturridge also might have a disruptive effect on our team? I was hoping that his injury-nightmare was ended, cause he is clearly a class-act when fit. But now he is out of play again. What is your opinion regarding Sturridge, should we (if possible) sell him?

Redskin

{Ed001's Note - Sturridge does have one, when he is out we struggle, but we already have him so we should see if we can sort out his problems, rather than just getting rid.}

Agree. CL is this seasons only remaining chanse to win a trophy. A PL 4th place isnt.

One could say that the restrains and all the serious injurys in our squad has gotten to our managment. That tells something about the pressure they live in.

Join the Breakaway league? I'll drop a turd in the Church then: Merge Everton and Liverpool into the new ugly monster EVERPOOL Dockers FC. Build a mega-venue with 120.000 seats.
Take the fun out of everything.
Oh, and make the John Lennon Airport double sized, and a dedicated trainline directly into the new stadium, (Which is named The GoogleGlobe, by the way) .

Oh well, I guess Mr. Ferguson was a failure in his first 4-5 years too.

Dolberg was very average over those two games vs Rosenborg. Ajax winger Younes was very good! And their 18 year old central defender De Light is quite a prospect.
