PC hasn't travelled to Dubai with the squad
"Reportedly" said his goodbyes to team and LFC staff

Just go already!

Agree. Hope we aren’t as that Spanish journo says on skysports wasting our time trying to convince him to stay. Fans have been good with him even after the summer and he’s been captain yet as soon as the window opens he’s ‘injured’.

He wants to go for his own reasons, that’s football.

It’s an obvious waste of time trying to convince him to stay, we should be looking for the replacement.

2.) 06 Jan 2018 16:07:58
Admittedly against Burnley and last night we were missing him (and to be fair Salah) . I naively hoped he would agree the move but leave in the summer. I'm now convinced he's going. But we've been here before and for me, the hole left won't be as big as Suarez. I'm bored now though, been a plaesure watching a £10m punt on a young man from inter become the third most expensive player ever, incredible individual performances (but don't forget periods where he has gone missing and forgot to turn up for big games) . All the best to him.

3.) 06 Jan 2018 16:14:10
Get rid get as much money as we can an let him go.

4.) 06 Jan 2018 16:14:41
We move on and find new PCs, Salahs and Suarezs - it's always been this way with LFC nowadays. Let's hope we get someone in time for this transfer window.

5.) 06 Jan 2018 16:43:57
Players come and go. I'd have Dalglish and Fowler up front but that won't happen. At least he's not jumping ship to City or worse. Barcelona will hope he turns up in the big games.

6.) 06 Jan 2018 16:45:50
The sooner Coutinho is history the better.
No player is bigger than LFC.
There's always someone younger and better to take your place. ( Naby Keita )

7.) 06 Jan 2018 16:59:15
Readind deal agreed and he said his goodbyes.

8.) 06 Jan 2018 17:11:55
I got no problem with Phil leaving to follow his dream. What I have a problem with is the "back injury" and the "thigh" problem! I trust klopp has a plan for a replacement and we move forward.

9.) 06 Jan 2018 17:32:20
I just don't see any reason to let one of your best players go mid season, unless you have a replacement sorted. I agree he should go, but he is a class player who we will need in the CL if we are to make it futher.
The ox/ lallana aren't really to the same level. and likely we will get rebuffed by Monaco as they won't want to lose a player mid season either. Worried when you don't have a replacement ready!

10.) 06 Jan 2018 17:36:36
Players come and go, good luck with Barce, now we move on to bigger better things.

11.) 06 Jan 2018 20:36:50
Have a feeling we got the green light on Lemar.

I'm predicting a quiet window now for incomers. Not what we want to hear but Klopp trusts the players he has, all areas are covered. Only Clyne remains long term injured. Lallana once fit and the Ox once fully settled to be used rather than a brand new mega money signing. I'm just going to get on with my January now. VVD was the one Klopp desired above all else, we have him. Keita in the summer.

Redman854

1.) 07 Jan 2018 15:18:39
If there is not viable replacement for Cou in Jan then, get in the one replacement that will join in the summer and keep your powder dry. No panic or appeasement buys, pls. I can't stomach any more of that nonsense anymore.

04 Jan 2018 14:52:19
Klopp: PC available for City game. I suppose "technically" he has to say that. But until a deal is finalised, he should play. Simple.

Redman854

{Ed002's Note - He doesn’t want to.}

1.) 04 Jan 2018 15:13:11
He's paid 160K a week and has a contract to do so ed, who cares what he wants, until Barcelona reach an agreement with Liverpool for his services, he should have a bit of respect for the club who helped develope him into the player he is, he should be told to do his job or forget his move, bending over again as a club,

{Ed002's Note - If he won't make himself available (again) then the club won't play him (again).}

2.) 04 Jan 2018 15:16:35
I don’t want to go to work today, but I’m still going.

{Ed002's Note - You don't seem to understand. Not to worry.}

3.) 04 Jan 2018 15:42:31
The absolute definition of a heartless, childish, sulking moaner. If he loves playing football so much why doesn't he want to play? What is this? We have been kind to him for 5 years and took a chance on him when nobody else would, he has been idolised by the fans, old and young. He has a contract with the club.

If he wanted to leave so badly then why didn't he let us know a year ago instead of more than halfway through the summer window? What did he expect to happen, we aren't just going to let our best player go without a replacement. The feigning injuries, the countless rumours spread from his entourage. i've absolutely had enough of this circus, he always struck me as a quiet, honest lad, but clearly i was wrong. His behaviour from start to finish of this whole saga has been nothing but pathetic. He has split bad blood with the fans forever, dare i say even more insulting than suarez's handling of the situation. A simple transfer request in advance would of sufficed, instead of this circus that never needed to happen.

4.) 04 Jan 2018 15:55:10
If he refuses to make himself available I hope he's not been paid, in what other sort of employment are you allowed to refuse to do your job and still get paid?

5.) 04 Jan 2018 15:51:38
Smeg is right, it's the same situation whichever way you look at it. He wants this move and is spitting his dummy out about it all, he doesn't want to play for us yet will accept his wages, it's pathetic, that alone should Barcelona off the deal imo. I know it won't mind.

6.) 04 Jan 2018 15:58:03
Other than getting an injury how does playing affect Barcas next move? If the bid is coming, it's coming. I moved jobs this year, I knew the new job was going to happen but still turned up to my existing job til the last day.
Why should footballers get to be such drama queens. The club have already ignored his play acting and kept him regardless then he came back and played.

7.) 04 Jan 2018 16:05:54
I am resigned to Coutinho going but hope we don’t let the whining rat call the tune. Only upon receipt of an offer that we consider acceptable should we sanction the move, no matter how far he spits the dummy out. The medical men should be able to check whether an injury is genuine and if he ‘makes himself unavailable’ we should make the bank transfer of his salary unavailable.

Get someone in who wants to play for a club on the up and let him go to his easy ride against the Spanish cannon fodder but, I repeat, only on our terms.

I accept big players leaving clubs and we have lost plenty who I wanted to stay. However, Coutinho koins the elite group of Owen and Torres who left in a way that left a sour taste. Owen left for a pittance in order to win trophies. Well that went well, didn’t it as we won it 5 times the first season after he left. Torres also went ‘to win trophies’ and may have won a few, on the backs of other players as he sat on the bench.

Let’s hope Coutinho achieves similar ‘success’ as the other 2 traitors.

Finally, never mind get-out clauses, we should insist that a ‘we won’t sell you to Real or Barca’ clause in the contracts of potential signings. If anyone won’t sign because of that, let them do one, as they were only intending to use us as a stepping stone anyway.

{Ed002's Note - The only person who has mentioned an injury is Klopp. All of you whining sounds stupid and embarrassing in the light of Liverpool signing van Dijk.}

8.) 04 Jan 2018 16:32:53
Players have all the power in football these days, I’m not sure what Shanks or Clough would say about these situations.
A player signs a contract with a club and agrees to length etc earns a huge wage paid for by that club. The club then is obligated to pay that player that figure regardless of whether he plays or not until the player is sold (& agreed to this) or contract expires.
However these days players seem to sign contracts but when a big club comes calling down tools and do whatever it takes to get thier way. Really until a club receives what they consider to be a suitable offer the player should be made to fulfill their contract. That applies to Pip, VVD, Sanchez etc pretty soon footballers contracts won’t be worth the paper they are written on.

9.) 04 Jan 2018 16:43:35
We keep hearing about how footballers are just employees, we’ll Coutinho should act like one, he is an employee under contract paid to do a job, he should continue to do his job until he leaves the club, just because he is a footballer shouldn’t make him a special case to everyone else.

10.) 04 Jan 2018 17:09:51
Don't think any Liverpool fan on here wanted vvd to defuse to play for his club ed, it's not whining when fans expect players who get paid dream amounts of money to do their job,

{Ed002's Note - The point being he, like Coutinho, refused to play. Yet it is Coutinho being trashed.}

11.) 04 Jan 2018 17:36:55
Well personally, I'm a Liverpool fan so I'm only worried about what our players do. Or don't do in this case, what vvd done in the summer is every bit as despicable as coutinho,

12.) 04 Jan 2018 18:29:12
If he makes himself unavailable he should be fined 2 weeks wages every time 👍.

13.) 04 Jan 2018 19:36:43
Exactly Ron,

03 Jan 2018 18:57:26
Apologies if asked previously. If Sanchez was a. Available and b. Would leave London, would Liverpool ever be interested? He appears awfully glum these days at Arsenal. Have Liverpool ever watched his situation in any detail?

Redman854

{Ed002's Note - There is no interest.}

1.) 03 Jan 2018 19:05:47
Selling one sulking moaner we don't need for another sulking moaner we do not need? Genius. Why is everyone so obsessed with sanchez on here when we've scored 77 goals in half a season but have serious problems in midfield and defence? Never ever going to happen and i honestly don't want it to.

2.) 03 Jan 2018 19:37:14
I wouldn't call couts a sulking moaner, he's been professional and got on with his job.

3.) 04 Jan 2018 06:44:05
Sanchez clearly will leave London since he's been touted round everywhere.

Silly season is great init!
Ed, is there a genuine concern over his fitness now, enough to jeapordise his Barcelona future?

Redman854

{Ed001's Note - yes, they want to sell him. His knee injury has robbed him of what pace he had and he is missing chances to score due to not being able to move quickly enough.}

I remain naively optimistic! Barcelona should have La Liga wrapped up and PC cup tied for CL, deal now and move in the summer.
I have no "sources" just hope lol.

Why can't the deal be agreed now for a summer move (like the deal we have made for Keita)

Everyone, including the player, knows he will be at Barcelona next year- we have a better chance at top 4 and advancing in champs league with him now. We get an injury to one of the other "fab 4" and it could cost us. Lallana and the Ox aren't at that level. Lemar and Keita could be exciting eventually.

Ed's - likelihood of keeping Couthino til the summer?

Redman854

{Ed025's Note - not very good i would suggest redman..

The way he behaved in the derby is no different to how both LFC and EFC players have conducted themselves in these games. Doesn't make it right but when a guys career is at stake you can't condone raising stuff like that.

When he has recovered I will still give him plenty of rubbish at the derby but for now, wish him the very best.

Easy to forget his quality when he has been out for so long. All the focus went on the "fab 4" and now Lallana is deemed a squad player "at best" before he has reached 100% fitness. He will play his heart out, World Cup year too and he will want his place on the plane. There is a place for him at LFC and by all accounts has a fantastic attitude and respect for the manager and club.

If we fail to get CL for 2018/ 19 I am concerned that this will hamper our ability to buy a top draw player in the summer.
We should go all out to get somebody now imo.

I knew fans would read into this that he's as good as gone.
It's a reasonable rotation given how close the fixtures are at this time of year.

We will see him in a red shirt again, hopefully until May.
This team is strong enough to give Burnley a game. The change in set up may well prove to be the advantage.

Mane needs a goal, as does Solanke and would expect them to be hungry today.
