Just read Bayern want Kovacic. :(
Makes sense as a fine replacement for Schweini.
Any idea if this is true please Eds??

RedKev

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any current interest in Kovacic from Bayern Munich although at a meeting between the clubs at the end of May about another player, I understand he was briefly discussed, although they were not one of the four sides that Inter made unsolicited approaches to.}

23 Jun 2015 13:24:25
Hey Eds,
Yous know if it's true that Ilori is being offered a new contract?

RedKev

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, but I would think his dad would know, and he certainly thinks there is a new one being negotiated with himself.}

1.) 23 Jun 2015 14:18:20
So his dad says yes, that's good news! You wouldn't negotiate a new contract if you wanted to leave and wouldn't play. Hope he gets a shot!

2.) 23 Jun 2015 14:27:50
Great news if true.

3.) 23 Jun 2015 14:29:47
Just made a post about this. Read an article that said his dad had been assured he will get a chance to prove himself and illori refused a loan and declined to be sold. Not sure how reliable it was though

4.) 23 Jun 2015 15:10:31
Just be glad that Liverpool's average temperature is about 2 or 3 degrees C milder than Sunderland's, otherwise we'd be screwed. Haha. Love it.

5.) 23 Jun 2015 15:13:18
The new Borini!

6.) 23 Jun 2015 15:47:09
Rightly so Illori is a good young player hopefully him and Sakho can form a good solid partnership as if Skrtel goes that leaves Toure who will be a bit part player i'd imagine and Lovren who hopefully will be a better player next season fighting for the CB positions.

22 Jun 2015 10:14:05
Kondogbia to Inter will be confirmed after his medical today. Italian media claiming Liverpool have reached €20m (£14.3m) in their bid for Kovacic, Inter holding out for €25m (£18m) but an agreement seems likely now as Monaco didn't want Hernanes and no other club seem likely to pay close to what they're asking for him, except maybe Fenerbahce. Inter need to make back as much as pssible of the €35m (£25m)they're paying for Kondogbia.

RedKev

1.) 22 Jun 2015 10:38:21
Surely the fee would be £18m i don't see how they would accept anything less as they want to keep him. The windows not open yet so they have time to sell hernanes.

2.) 22 Jun 2015 13:02:14
Yup Liverpool know the price being asked and he is worth it, just hope they actually make that 'serious' offer now and no more funny little ones.

3.) 22 Jun 2015 13:32:15
Let's hope he doesn't mind competing with the 7000 other midfielders for his place

4.) 22 Jun 2015 14:49:57
It does make you wonder what the intended shape & line-up of our midfield is supposed to be.

5.) 22 Jun 2015 17:45:17
I hope it's true but I'm sure inter are happy to let one any 3 out Fredy Guarin, Hernanes, Juan Jesus and Zdravko Kuzmanovic And kovacic go but that means we still have to give them a concrete offer kovacic not an offer that's value is because we know they need to sell if it really is 18m they want we should pay especially after playing 20m+ for lovren, kovacic is a promising young talent we should pay up just wish it was that simple just hope it's the last midfielder we bring in it's getting silly now.

01 Jun 2015 09:19:27
Gday Eds, Happy June!
I just happened across speculation claiming Liverpool interest in Lamine Sané of Bordeaux. You know anything of him?
Thank youuuuuuu

RedKev

{Ed002's Note - I know nothing of it - Liverpool would need to have a major clear out first, particularly given the new contract for KT.}

1.) 01 Jun 2015 10:23:43
Yeah I was assuming it would be as replacement for Skerts if true. Pairing him with Sakho wold certainly improve communication at the back.

21 May 2015 13:16:35
Coates has had a run of excellent performances along with Sunderland's improved solidity of late. Personally, I'd love to see him given the chance to succeed Skerts in the team instead of pointlessly keeping Toure and his fat salary for another year, but I know it's unlikely to happen.
Any idea if Coates is open to making the Sunderland switch permanent now they're staying up Eds? Seems he's finally found a home and manager that likes him.

RedKev

{Ed001's Note - yes he is open to a permanent move.}

1.) 21 May 2015 15:07:32
@RedKev, a good game last night and a few matches recently and you think he could cut it now at Liverpool? Sorry Kev but he looks miles off good enough.

He is a way too slow and he is a bumbling mess on the ball. I hope he cuts it at Sunderland and earns himself a deal either there or at another club at that level.

Remember he has been on the bench most of the season watching John O'Shea and Wes Brown competing to see who can deteriorate at a quicker rate. Even Verghini has been given some games in CB and he looks an awful player.

2.) 21 May 2015 15:52:10
The problem we have as I think the eds will agree is we have some great individuals (and o don't mean 40mil individuals) but a lot of players who will all do fansttic os certain systems, but unfortunately we don't have a solid system to fill them in! Like coates has played well in a low block defensive unit, I don't imagine he would thrive in a high press/high defensive line! Same as we have 3 number 10'z in sterling, lallana, coutinho and we don't even play 4231 were on could do well in the hole! We have marko/ibe who are right footed right wingers and wd have noone in the box for them! It goes on and on! The recruitment our targeting good young players but don't seem to be bringing them in to fit a system! Like for example say drogha 20 and Torres 20 were both interested in is bit we could only choose one, they would go with the frog. Even though we have a manager who doesn't like playing with that type of striker! Its not about quality but more about who there selecting!

3.) 21 May 2015 18:59:51
What Austin said

4.) 21 May 2015 21:21:51
Lol AZ, and Austin imo playing Coates in a high defensive line is asking for trouble

5.) 22 May 2015 09:16:25
He takes half an hour to turn round.

6.) 22 May 2015 11:30:29
I asked a Sunderland supporter how he's been doing and he said he's done alright but he's nothing special. Not good enough for us anyway.

I thought José Enrique made a good contribution to the game yesterday. "Jello, I'm José Enrique and you are watching LFC TV." Such talent! ;)

RedKev

1.) 15 Jul 2015 17:35:19
Haha, he showed plenty of character XD

Red Rum

2.) 15 Jul 2015 18:00:16
Even funnier, if you type 'José Enrique' into google you get:
1-José Enrique instagram
2-José Enrique twitter
3-José Enrique san juan
4-José Enrique injury

No mention of Liverpool or even football.
Oh, and José Enrique-San Juan is a restaurant in Puerto Rico. Maybe he could go get a job there as a host. :D

3.) 15 Jul 2015 19:55:03
5-Jose Enrique dubai

4.) 15 Jul 2015 20:54:08
Oh yes please! That way we can get a squillion quid for him and he can earn 200 grand a week for posing for selfies. :)

5.) 15 Jul 2015 21:03:43
Or maybe China? If Spurs can get £10 million for Paulinho then anything is possible!

6.) 15 Jul 2015 22:02:33
Heard he's great at Fifa. No wonder he runs round like a headless chicken

13 Jul 2015 10:37:14
I really hope that the player "who was not expected to leave" isn't Sakho. I can imagine there being interest in him. If it is, our defence will likely be a complete shambles. For me, he is THE most important player for us to keep right now, even more so than Coutinho.

RedKev

1.) 13 Jul 2015 11:21:20
"Even more so than Coutinho"?!

I get your point, but Coutinho is much more important to us.

Red Rum

2.) 13 Jul 2015 11:34:40
If we lost coutinho we have Lallana, firmino, etc to take his place.
If we lost sakho we have lovren.
I will let you decide who's most important to keep hold of.
Doesn't mean sakho is a better player than coutinho but more important currently? Yeah maybe.
I can't see either leaving though.

3.) 13 Jul 2015 11:37:43
Could very well be that player who wasnt expected to leave but does is jerome sinclair tbh after seeing the latest rumours

4.) 13 Jul 2015 11:43:15
I remember Ed02, opening up the secret, Countinho was wathced on a couple of occassion by Bayern and Porto. He wouldn't fancy a move to porto, but Bayern is a hard choice. Gotze moving out. countinho coming in. ( All assumption )

5.) 13 Jul 2015 11:57:19
Coutinho is going nowhere this summer.

6.) 13 Jul 2015 12:03:54
Yup exactly mikey, I meant in terms of our depth in those positions. Pretty good for attacking mids, very shaky for defenders.

But yeah, I saw the Sinclair stuff after posting this, so maybe it's him. Is it him Ed Is it him you meant??

7.) 13 Jul 2015 13:12:38
Sinclair is not relevant enough for Ed002 to allude to. I think the player he was talking about was Markovic, and he didn't say the player was definitely going to leave, I think you guys are making a mountain out of a mole-hill.

8.) 13 Jul 2015 14:27:22
what about sturridge?
hes been injuried a long time and maybe the club know he will never be injury free again.
sell him get some money back and his big wages and reinvest in a new striker

9.) 13 Jul 2015 15:19:04
Yeah clubs will be queuing up for sturridge right now! Lol can't even play til October and managed about 10 games last season.

10.) 13 Jul 2015 15:28:24
Im sorry Lallana couldn't replace Cou, Cou got some very important goals last season in the cup and came in from italy and started performing straight away i know Adams been injured but i thought he's been average. Cou runs a lot more with the ball and really drives, Adam is a different sort of place can skin a few people but slower, more passing.

Marko i suspect might go on loan, i think he should i like the kid but i cringe everytime he's played as a wb why pay for him and play him as a wb like hendo at wb. Stupidity, i hope he goes out on loan, regains his confidence and comes back ready to play! i think he's got a lot of potential just struggled with the english game!

09 Jul 2015 09:32:07
Gday Eds,
You think all the Sterling hullabaloo could put Man City off signing him and cause them not to make a 3rd offer?
Thanks!

RedKev

{Ed023's Note - No idea}

1.) 09 Jul 2015 12:19:02
i think he will put off mancity if he continues like this. mancity are parting with 50 million pounds and with that money they could buy players 10 times better than sterling both on and off the pitch. ( come to think of it i think 50 million pounds would be enough to buy likes of griezmann, marco reus, kevin de brune, lacazette or even a cavani , higuain , isco etc etc all much much better than raheem.) city know they are grossly overpaying for sterling but they believe in his quality and that he would come good, but if raheem goes on like this i am pretty sure city might just re-think where they investing money and might move towards other targets. they might just want to wait till the last day and only sign sterling if they can't sign any one else. which i fear is what will happen. i think we are in for a long one month of raheem's moaning and his banter spread on this site.

2.) 09 Jul 2015 12:35:29
the thing is city need home grown to meet the requirements, its a win win for liverpool

3.) 09 Jul 2015 13:29:04
i agree with ed 23.kovacic will be gerrards replacement and will prove to be a great buy.
We will have enough midfielders who can play different positions, and if we really interested in illaramendi who is a good passer a bit like xabi we have lucas replacement in.
my only worry is the left back position we need a left back that can defend and support the attack from the wing, willems from psv is a very talented player will suit our play.
Games a re won in midfield if we get kocacic+coutinho, hendersen, milner, firmino,Can.we will be strong.
We need to bring in 1 top striker and aim for top 3.
Sterling will leave and we don't need a replacement we have ibe, markovic, orogi and milner who can play on the wings.
striker, kovacic, illaramendi and willems we be a force again.
we need to say goodbye to a few enrique, lucas injuries got him but has been a class act from the day he arrived, borini, balotelli, lambert and i hope allen just not good enough.
Malta

4.) 09 Jul 2015 19:09:21
Games aren't won in midfield against us.

Even if we're 2-nil up a couple of corners can get a team a point.

09 Jul 2015 09:47:47
Ok I don't know Raheem but if the comments about him not wanting to play for Rodgers anymore are true it just makes me think he's a complete person. Rodgers has always tried to defend and protect the kid and made special efforts to manage his development. So what's Sterling's problem? Any gripe about being played out of position is crap since what you regularly hear and want to hear from players is: "I'm always happy to play and play anywhere the manager asks me to help the team."
I have a feeling Sterling may have held a grudge ever since his dressing down on the Being Liverpool documentary. Well, he can bog off. I just hope his behavior doesn't put off any potential suitors. The sooner he's gone, the better.

RedKev

1.) 09 Jul 2015 10:36:01
I have no time for Sterling and , like most on these pages , Iwis

2.) 09 Jul 2015 10:45:09
And you know for a fact that Rodgers has treated the lad fair, our is it just what you've read and assumed. Remembering Rodgers has been pretty rubbish at the taking blame for things.

3.) 09 Jul 2015 10:48:59
I have no time for Sterling and , like most people on these pages , I am looking forward to this nonsense being over and everyone moving forward .

However , in considering his motivation , I just wonder whether he has tapped in to the complete contempt that the senior players have for Rodgers now , I can't easily forget the sight of virtually the entire squad celebrating the 6-1 defeat at Stoke on holiday in Dubai , having packed their bags before the match and travelling to Manchester airport immediately after their showers . None of them expected Rodgers to survive the summer .

I know we are encouraged not to live in the past but Bill Shankly must be spinning cartwheels at the moment , he once told a supposedly injured player " it's not your knee , son , it's Liverpool's knee " . That approach would never be accepted by modern players , even on monumental wages .

4.) 09 Jul 2015 20:44:36
Ritters, and you know for a fact that the senior players have contempt for Rodgers or is it something in your mind

5.) 09 Jul 2015 22:17:13
Oh Yeh poor sterling has had a terrible time of it. being sent away to Jamaica for a family Christmas whilst the rest of the squad were training and playing. Seems like Rogers has really had it in for the kid.

08 Jul 2015 00:59:50
Nice squad shaping up once Benteke is complete. Some defensively minded players wouldn't go amiss between now and September is all.

Mignolet-Bogdan. Clyne-Wisdom. Moreno-Enqique's shadow. Skrtel (with a brain transplant)-Ilori-Toure. Sakho-Lovren. Can-Lucas. Henderson-Kovacic? Milner-Allen. Coutinho-Lallana. Firmino-Ibe-Markovic. Sturridge-Ings. Benteke-Origi.

Clear improvement on last season. Fingers crossed they gel a LOT better.

You have to love the keyboard warriors on this site. If you disagree with what someone says then fine but at least explain your rationale behind it (unless they say something ridiculous like "we should sign Bobby Zamora"). Does one of the disagreers care to let us know which one of our signings isn't an upgrade on what we had last year?

I'm not sure why you even post questions like this on here Ed.
Do you just pretend to imagine that it was phrased in a Liverpool relevant way? Or do you actually enjoy the challenge of a new and complicated-sounding name? I could give you one or two if you like, but, if I'm honest, they'd probably be relevant, sorry. :(

So, what's Allan Rodriguez de Souza up to this summer?

Just another example of another galaxy class player named Jordan that we're missing out on again, clearly our squad is lacking in that area. I'm so sick of Liverpool's terrible transfer policy that sees us go for players with blatantly short surnames just so they fit on a jersey while our rivals sign the best in the universe. If we can't attract players whose names begin with 'Sch' then everybody should be sacked and replaced by lollipop ladies wearing oven gloves.

2+2=37-40. I think we need to sack all the back-seat managers.
You hope it doesn't come through what? The matrix?
And I hope you wouldn't rather 'give a try' to any of last season's fit strikers, it's been proven, they were useless.
