I was initially gutted about the draw however my friend pointed to me the seasons when we met Chelsea in the semi's and we were the underdogs. We went out there and did the business against all the odds 2 times! We want to beat the beat team in Europe? We have them in the quarters in my opinion. If we do this surely we are looking at the final? Just remember we haven't managed to beat City in a final yet so I wouldn't want them there!

Gutted about what, OP? Since 2009 and the money arrived at City, we are the team in the top 6 they can't beat consistently. We have the best record against them over that span and that is NO coincidence. They have only beaten us 6 (all at the Etihad) times in all comps with us winning there several times and them not being able to buy a win at Anfield. Also, Klopp has one loss in 7 in all comps. vs City including the thumping they got at Etihad 4-1 since he arrived.

Trust me, they are scared of us cos history does not favor them vs us. We have only played one final vs them and they won on penalties, which obviously proves nothing, IMO. Klopp, the players and the fans will be up for it cos really, we have had their number overall while they can't even buy a win at Anfield. There is nothing to fear BUT fear itself, man.

Hi All, long time reader first time poster.

I have checked our pass results from a 12:30 kickoff and it shows are poor when starting early. Do you think this is issue for Klopps men?

Manu vs Liverpool 2-1
Liverpool vs Manu 0-0
Man City vs Liverpool 5-0
Watford vs Liverpool 3-3

last season
Spurs vs Liverpool 0-0
Swansea vs Liverpool 1-2 (w)
Liverpool vs Swansea 2-3
Liverpool vs Wolves 1-2

We have won once in 8 games which is pretty poor. Let me know your thoughts?

Ps great site.

Klopps boys like a good lie in mate.

That is a poor showing.

I remember Ed001 talking about this a while back.

I think it was something to do with the players having a specific routine in the days before a game and the morning of a game and this just not being adapted for early kick offs.

It seems like something that the coaching staff should've got their heads around by now though, which is a little bit of a worry.

{Ed001's Note - a lot of clubs do struggle with early kick offs. I have seen a similar moan on almost every site regarding the team never performing well in early kick offs. I just think they are bad idea in general. No one seems as pumped up for them, the atmosphere is almost always flat and the games almost always are dreadful. However TV companies want their lunchtime kick offs to show.}

Especially as we have another 2 early starts due this season, we can't afford to slip up now!

5.) 12 Mar 2018 13:29:50
I agree, that was my worry. Crystal Palace and Stoke which have been bogus teams against us in the past. Hopefully Klopp and the coaching staff have now looked into this. The only good news is that we have Chelsea at 3pm and not 12:30.

6.) 12 Mar 2018 13:49:29
Ed01 a thought the reason our games against Utd were always early kick offs was so in theory the thugs and alcohol woundnt be mixed? I must be way off the mark in thinking that tho if you say it's tv mate.

{Ed001's Note - that is the original theory yes, but now they are chosen for TV, which is why we have them every week, rather than just for games that are considered to be flaspoints.}

I would like to know how many times Liverpool play these early kick offs, compered to say the other top six clubs, most of them games fall flat .

Guys. I think we should give both the lads a chance. Klopp and co when give time have changed our opinions of players who we thought weren't good enough. When pre season comes Klopp and his team will then have time to coach these players and also they will all be on the same plate as the rest in regardes to fitness. I personally think Ings and Solanke needs games to correct their decision making. Once they find it I reckon they will help the squad.

{Ed025's Note - you are talking about the sheffield wednesday squad right?..

MK I am with you on this one. We tend to perform at our best when we are the underdogs! Bring it on! From an English perspective we will have a team in the semi's not only that it will be one of the best (most entertaining) 2 teams in the land right now. One of us should win it! Let's hope it is us!

MK do you think it would be wise for Klopp to buy an experienced midfielder (or two) who does not run around like a headless chicken, who knows how to pass and who knows they are coming to the end of their career so doesn't mind being a squad player? I know he bought Klavan and Matip to help with the defense in that way. When Klavan is fit he has been excellent for the team. My worry is that I can see a massive gap next year if most of the experienced players will leave. I fear it may leave a gap. It has happened to us so many times in the past. Do you think this is why one of the reasons for players like Suarez and Coutinho wanted to go Barcelona. As in it is not just winning but to be able to learn from the best and gain experience from them too?

MK - It is still wise to keep the experience of some of the senior players (Mainly Milner as he has won things) to protect the young lads when the chips are down or when to slow the play down when needed. You are right we should be fading them out slowly. I reckon if we win the Champions League (highly unlikely) or really go for the league cup next season (as it is the first cup to win) it will help us no end mentally. We will have the thirst to win. I also think if the U19's do well and win the Champions League it sets a winning mentality within Liverpool as a whole. A lot of ifs and buts I know.
