I am really worried by tonights result, I think Barcelona mau come back and ask for a full refund plus compensation for Coutinhio. 🤨

😄😅😆😆.

We can always give them Moreno as refund. And they can keep Countinho as a gift after what we did to them.

Question for ED01;

As, like many on here, I have come to really enjoy this site and I check it several times a day.

At first I only checked the comments where the ED's would respond to, but now I read them all pretty much and I have even looked at the other pages such as the Chelsea, Man Utd, City pages etc
I got to say ED02 info is phenomenal and always accurate.

I have also come to value a lot of the posters such as Barry, Ron, MK, Negative Red, Salah, Drogie, BRover, Stone etc - too many to name all.
The site actually has a real community feel to it and even the EDs such as ED025, ED33 and ED333 I, like others value very much fir their input.

So I was wondering about the following as I have only been on this site for 2 years now and just wanted to fill the gap on these as I feel prior to that I was missing out nit knowing abt this site!

1 - When did you actually start this site and what was it called orignally?

2 - What prompted you to start it? And gow did it get it started?

3 - What has been the highs and lows of running this site?

4 - You once mentioned you had a few "ED's" quit in the past - which of those ED's did you loose that you think would have helped the site? And why?

5 - Were you an ex player in the past or did you work for LFC in the past? If so in what capacity?

6 - Have you always been involved with football in some way or another?

7 - Finally, it would be great to know how long some of the other posters have been following this site?

Apologies for the long post and I hope my questions are not too personal.

Red Kurd

{Ed001's Note - 1. The original site was football-rumours and it was started in 2001, early in 2001.
2. Initially Ed033 was studying web design at college and needed to come up with an idea for a site as a project, it just came from that.
3. Highs and lows have been hundreds strong, such as milestones in page views and the first comment sent in were highs. Lows were things such as realising we couldn't trust people to self-edit and had to start monitoring what was sent in.
4. There have been loads, one now works for Everton and there was one who was a ghost writer for Balague among others.
5. Nope.
6. Not in a paid capacity.
7. I really couldn't answer that one!}

Been viewing for over a decade. Have been reading pretty much every day since then. I've said it countless times but it's an excellent site, with absolutely golden information, and some serious expertise. By and large though it is the communal aspect of the site which makes it so enjoyable to read and be a member of - long may it continue.

2.) 09 Sep 2018 05:09:00
Same as Seano I think, about 10 years. Can't even remember how I came across it.

3.) 09 Sep 2018 08:02:46
followed the site when it was still football-rumours back then. bt only started posting few years back.

im 27 bt looking back at those years makes me feel old.

{Ed025's Note - if you feel old at 27 kaizer then how do you think i feel mate.. :)

4.) 09 Sep 2018 08:55:47
I'd say I'm here the guy's of 10 year's although Ed001 and Ed002 would probably say it feel's a lot longer.

{Ed025's Note - and still one of my favorite posters barry..

5.) 09 Sep 2018 09:28:02
I’ve been on here since just before the takeover, I remember the site crashing for a few days, there were that many people trying to get on and get info!

All the Ed’s do an amazing job on the site and it gives us supporters a great place to talk about football in general.

Think most of us would be lost without the site!

Crooky.

6.) 09 Sep 2018 09:50:23
Good post Red Kurd and thank you for the mention mate.

7.) 09 Sep 2018 10:01:10
Ed025 mate I think you and I are cut from the same cloth. We just like life simple and hassle free.

{Ed025's Note - amen to that barry..

8.) 09 Sep 2018 10:17:06
Few years now myself, rarely post though. Strange looking at the differences in posters, where did kid millions go, what new name has Harry got, so many questions lol.

9.) 09 Sep 2018 10:17:12
I remember posting on the original football rumours site when all the rumours for all teams were on one page and no-one registered. I think all the colours were blue?
It’s been a fun-filled journey 😄.

10.) 09 Sep 2018 10:30:42
Just worked out it’s been 10 years since I started reading and posting on this site, pretty much daily as well, remember checking the site on every holiday and each time my kids were being born.

{Ed002's Note - You are due a testaminial then.}

11.) 09 Sep 2018 10:39:30
Great post Red Kurd. I came across this site in 2013, during THAT season. Wish I’d found it earlier, in 2001 I used to post on the official Liverpoolfc. tv forums.

Biggest step forward for me was the registration process as it got rid of most (but not all! ) keyboard warriors.

12.) 09 Sep 2018 10:39:35
Ive been looking at this since i first got a PC about 2003, use to scroll down looking for anything liverpool related. How time flies eh!

13.) 09 Sep 2018 11:50:48
I came across this site years ago after literally searching "Liverpool rumours" one quiet transfer window. Never looked back since. Well, only now and then to see how far behind Everton were.

14.) 09 Sep 2018 12:42:15
I used the site here and there but then came the day Torres was sold. I've practically used everyday since.
It was a post from Harry that caught my attention and i found myself looking out for his posts and coming on several times a day. I used to just read before bed. Harry changed all that.
A big thanks to everyone for keeping this negative sod in line and informed.

15.) 09 Sep 2018 13:39:55
Nice post Red and great questions. Thanks Ed for the response as well, very interesting information. I can't remember when I found this site, maybe the same as Crooky which was about the time of the takeover. I just did a search for Liverpool rumours and up came this site and I've been hooked ever since. It really is addicting.

{Ed001's Note - that takeover was hellish. It was going on over 3 completely separate time zones so there was no quiet time to grab some kip!}

16.) 09 Sep 2018 13:49:52
When i first started visiting this site one of the posters was RafaOut which tells you how long ago it was.

17.) 09 Sep 2018 15:55:46
Yes, I remember posting without the registration and even being told off by the Eds for not remembering to sign my posts sometimes. I googled "liverpool rumours" and just found the site, one day. Been on it daily, ever since.

18.) 09 Sep 2018 22:49:16
Great post from OP!

Reading all the reply’s is like walking down memory lane lol.

It’s never a bad time to give Ed’s and reds the thanks and appreciation deserved for this cracking site!

I discovered this site on and off, starting about 10 years ago but last 7 or 8 years it’s my go to place for knowledge entertainment and banter. Admittedly im more of a reader than a contributor.

19.) 10 Sep 2018 10:33:29
What ever happened to Blair Mayne?

20.) 10 Sep 2018 12:33:00
Balague has ghost writers? Isn't that like Tom Cruise using ghost actors? Talk about not working for a living. Sorry that's what I took from this thread, it just baffled me.

Drogie - are you tslking about the period of his (Clyne) so called back injury?

If so I heard the same thing at the time. In fact I remember a rumor of that kind was flying around on social media, but never paid much attention to it.

Roy your points are very true.
Though you have to keep in mind that players of Spanish or Portuguese culut will always want to play for Barcelona or RM, just the same as British players want to play for their favourte team.

Also do keep in mind that at least Barcelona major successes have been in the last 10/ 15 years with regards to UCL. Prior to that they only had 1 or 2, at most UCL.

The other thing in both Barcelona and RM have had a big advantage due to football being pushed more and more glowbally.
This has helped them seem they are more successfull and more powerfull than reality, a but like creating a myth.

We can also create that myth globally by winning titles and trophies.

Ravi123 I agree with your view and you are right it most likely is about money but I do wonder if we do give him the money, how long before his ego and desire kicks in and he wants to leave for RM or Barca.
Also will this set a prescednet for him and others, just like I read every year almost that Messi gets a new contract or rleztension with even more money than previous one.

We actually do not need a Messi - look at Braca they are forced to play everything through Messi with no real plan B, all because they have fed that ego over and over agin and now have a monster on their hands thet they can not dare to retire!
When Messi retires then what will they do? They will have to change their style and restart from deep down.
It was a complete team performance that beat Barcelona without our "tslisman" salah.

Brommers I think one of the issues we have at LFC is we fear losing one of the main players, whereas Barcelona or RM just don't mind and they will happily offload a player like Coutinho whereas we were panicking.
The difference is they have invested heavily at the begining and gambled that that would get them success, which it has and they then use that success to attract replacements and that success keeps going.

Our issue is we need to hit a consistant period and a sustained period of success and that would have to include trophies and titles.

If you read ED02 notes or replies on the City page, you can see that City are following the same mould as Barcelona and RM as this season they are prepared to let go a few players (perhaps not out of their own choice as a club) whom we would consider big names, such as Mahrez Sane and perhaps Jesus etc.

The key to our succes is getting trophies, this then will make domestic (British) players aspire to play for LFC, which will allow us to build a solid foundation eg types such as Henderson, Gomez, Milner, TAA, Robertson and then the key world players may follow and from there create that perpetual cycle of success.

This is one of the reasons why I really want us to win a trophie this year and one of my pet hates of Klopp not taking the domestic cups seriously at all times and always playing with the strongest teams he has.

Great points all the way through that post Robbiesline.

Salah is probably very egotistical and rates himself far higher than he actually, this is also a cultural mindset within arabs and therefore belives that anyone but Barcelona or RM are of a lesser tier club.
And of course with Barcelona or RM comes more money and so called prestige.

The facts are that he had success in Italy but that was not seen as highly due to the state, style and quality of the Italian league.
He now has had tremendous successes at Liverpool but has not realised that that is down to the quality of the league but most importantly the style of football the club plays as well as having an excellent manager and far better quality team mates than at Roma.
Since he has not taken this in to consideration, he thinks it is all him and nothing but him.

This is simmilar to Coutinho as it was our style that accomidated him and let him flurish. In some ways he was a luxury player for us and you see that only now he is not here and see how well we still play without hima and sometimes even much better without him.

However, look at Coutinho now at Barca, he is in a difficult place and can be who he thought he was.

It is this lesson that Salah needs to take and learn from to see that the grass is not always greener on other side.

Even if he goes to Barcelona or RM then what is he really going to achieve winning La Liga in a 1 or possibly 2 horse race?
He might as well go PSG.
These clubs are all in transition and they will take time before they seriously compete again, maybe 1 or 2 years, by which time Salah will be 29/ 30 towards the end of his career.

I would have thought as a football player, you would want to create a legacy and history for yourself.

Michael Owen was a prime example of this mistake, left liverpool for RM and in that same season we win the UCL. Then Owen goes om a merry go round of clubs after RM, all amounting to nothing.
Before you say anything, collecting medals from the bench or the treatment table does not hold any credibility in a debate.
