How is it we offered 29m pounds as suggested on most news, when Hoffenheim was happy with just 20m??

Pirate

{Ed001's Note - to make sure the deal is done we offered more. We have a bad rep for messing people about, so this time we just went in and outbid the others before someone like United could step in.}

Good sign ed001?

{Ed001's Note - I think so, we wanted him so we went and got him.}

Made up with this signing tbh, makes sense as he adds goals to the midfield and is a very able substitute for the departing sterling.

Also pleased we are trying to rectify our reputation with other clubs, hopefully we will stick to this new way of working.

It's reported that there were '3rd party ownership "issues"' with Firmino which Liverpool have sorted out - could part of the additional £9M gone to sort these "issues" out??

{Ed001's Note - we would have had to buy out all parties.}

Teixeira was creative, but his end product was very poor. Misplaced many passes, took the wrong decisions many times and his corners were poor.
But I like what I see from him, he is not ready but he has a lot of potentials. And I believe he is better option than Lallana but not better option than Coutinho.

I was talking about Ed001 who clearly stated that it was the club's fault mostly in dealing with this. After Sterling interview nobody will agree with you. Sterling and his representatives are at 100% at fault here. It spells greed and disgrace on Sterling's part. After all that Liverpool has done to him the least he could do is accept another extension of his contract with some raise on his salary. Not expecting everything to be laid in front of him, he is 20 years old.
I don't see what Liverpool and Rodgers have done wrong here. The negotiation with Sterling should have been simple, if he was not spoilt and greedy. He seems like he doesn't respect what the club and Rodgers offered to him all these years.

{Ed001's Note - sorry but that is not what I stated at all. I said the club have handled it badly, but not that it was mostly their fault.}

Ed you said a while back and specifically a reply to me that the reason for Sterling not signing is not that he is spoilt. You were more or less saying that it was Liverpool which was playing dirty tactics and that its better not to talk when we don't know the situation.
Well what have you got to say now? For me Sterling is a disgrace, worst kind of a footballer. Instead of accepting any raise(still at 20 years has a lot to learn and be grateful to the club) he goes on about bullying the club. Is this an attitude of a player we want to have?
As I said many times you blame and back up the wrong people.

Pirate

{Ed002's Note - I have replied at length that responsibility is spread out - it is far from simply the fault of a young player who is being guided by others. The club has the responsibility to players and the players have a responsibility to work within the confines of their employers. Liverpool have not dealt well with a number of the players in recent years, Suarez and Sterling have both been particular stupid in their dealings with the press, but someone should be tugging on the chain of Gerrard and telling him to not keep putting the club in a difficult position with his behaviour and his openness with the press. Rodgers has far from dealt well with the press and I have explained that, whilst suffering from foot and mouth, his continually discussing club matters (contracts, behaviour of players etc.) with the press has done nothing but harm to the club. This could all have been avoided. Blaming the player alone is far from correct, but the club and Rodgers have a very significant part to play in yet another PR mess that is taking the attention away from the football itself.}

And you think this is because of Lucas? Funny stuff!

Lucas should have been gone at least 3 years ago from Liverpool. Can will prove to be far better than him.
It was about time.

Sakho was our best defender even under Rodgers hands down. Don't know what games you people were watching really. His calmness in stealing the ball under pressure and giving deadly passes is remarkable.
Rodgers was as blind as you wembley.

Really I don't think the problem lies in the defense. The problem is we simply don't have players who are aggressive enough to score goals. They are hesitant and their final attempt is the worst possible choice they can make most of the time. This is the problem.
Sakho is a top defender, Moreno this year shows how great he is, Clyne needs to be better and well Skrtel needs to be replaced. But the Southampton goal yesterday was pure luck. Can't blame anyone for it. And you can't expect to be keeping clean sheets every game when our main game is pressing the opposition and not parking the bus.

I read somewhere few hours earlier that they already agreed. 8 mil. pounds per year, 3 years + option for 1 more.

I don't really think there is anyone better suited for the role.
