Hi Eds and fellow Reds,
I've been giving the Suarez saga a lot of thought and given last year's debacle where we didn't let him leave and all of the 'Jaws' horror movies I reckon there must have been a plan in place. If a plan is not extremely close to coming to fruition I'd be mightily surprised. If a plan is not in place and the board / BR are floundering trying to think of a replacement then they are unbelievably naiive and stupid. I don't buy it for a minute. The owners know where we are, they have said we are 'ahead of schedule' and they will be well aware that losing Suarez would have a massive impact on our ability to compete next season. They would not have let him go if there was going to be a problem. The owners are seasoned businessmen and they will, therefore, be aware of the need for contingency / worst case scenarios and they will have a plan in place to cope with that. There will be something up their collective sleeve that we are not expecting. (or we are screwed!)

The one player that really excites when he plays (apart from in world cup semi-finals!) is Robben. Whenever he gets the ball and has a little space I always feel like he can make an impact. For Bayern he provides much of the energy and he provided much entertainment in an orange shirt over the past month. I can just about forgive his theatrical because his footy is so brilliant. Any chance we can get him?
Thanks

Hi Eds,
Fabulous job you are doing as always :-)
So that's it then - it looks like Suarez is off. Given that Sanchez has gone to London, given your choice of those strikers who may be on the market at the right price, who would you pick to be a replacement for Luis 'Teeth' Suarez and why?
Cheers

Seeing the England team in action against 'quality' opposition highlights how overvalued English players in the premier league are. eg 25Mill for Lallana? Really? I agree that he is proven in the EPL and at a decent price would be a good addition to the squad, but we are looking to strengthen in preparation for CL football, as well as having strength in depth to cope with the Premiership. If we as a club are going to be spending 'big money' or a good proportion of the notional transfer kitty on 1 player, surely we want players who have proven themselves in European football or/ and tournament football. I agree that buying or dismissing players based on a tournament performance is somewhat shallow, but all information must be used.
On a really positive note, I thought our own Daniel Sturridge was the outstanding player for England, showing great skill and determination. More of the likes of him please Brendan / board.

Well Eds, if a deal for Suarez is going to be done, I sincerely hope a hush hush massive deal has already been done as his value will surely decrease now after his totally disgraceful bite on Chiellini tonight. Leopards and spots.

I would have thought that keeping the ball out of our own net would be a greater priority than spending stupid money on an 18yr old. We have the firepower to score goals, but it's letting in too many that is costing us. Spend smaller on a proven striker and splash the cash on defence (we're awfully sorry Southampton. etc)

Maybe the problem is that he said he would be somewhere but nobody can find him.

Agreed FMS.
I posted (or not because it didn't make it on to this board) something similar. I made the point that why would a 'professional' footballer want to play for such an unprofessional club? Much damage needs to be repaired and (I hope I am wrong! ) I can see this Summer's transfer window being a let down and the season to come being one to forget. It would be great to get the defence sorted with some real top draw players to stop the needless loss of points. That alone will ensure we mount a decent challenge next season, but until we plug the leaks, it won't matter how many zillions we spend on attacking midfielders. Clean our act up as a club / lead by example, and the players will come.

What a bunch of idiots if there really was a breach of regulations. Looks like they'll never learn.
