Does no one else think that spending £25-35m on a player who can pre-sign for free in 5 months is crazy from a business perspective. that's not to say I agree with tapping the player up and if we have done that then we should face the consequences, and pay up. We do seem a bit too savy regarding signings to be spending money we do not have.

Just my two pennies worth.

I think the transfer of Coutinho has come at a bad time. Following the Man City win everyone was saying great business and who needs him now after a couple of losses the club has been short sighted.

End of the day we sold a player who no longer wanted to play for us. We sold him at a great price although I believe we could have got even more for him.

We have all seen how successful some of our panic buys have been Caroll is a great example.

I agree that the club should be planning ahead but I also believe that they have. If they can't get the player they want/ need in the Jan window then they absolutely should wait for the summer.

Going out to WBA was awful as if we were still in the fa cup it was a real opportunity to start winning. But even having Coutinho would not have guaranteed that.

I firmly believe we have a team capable of being in the top 4 at the end of the season. But we as fans need to get behind the club and players and help them to make this a good season.

I think the club is heading in the right direction but still has some areas they need to improve and with the money they have from Coutinho sale and hopefully top 4 finish they can do it. Time us fans showed a little faith and support the players we have who on their day are a match for most teams.

Enjoying success is always more enjoyable if you have tasted a few lows as well.

Agree with South Aussie Red, and thank the Ed's as its good to understand why we seem to fail so regularly with transfers. Personally I would love it if Ed001 were to be proved wrong about us not returning to glory due to lack of leadership. But we seem to be a club that's constantly is a state of transition, and have owners who don't fully understand the game and team we love.

Appreciate that you don't want to get into the details of what the agent has said. But if you could shed a little more light on it would appreciate your insight. I see this as something Liverpool have to address, whether we like it or not agents are part of the modern game and we have to deal with them. If were getting transfers wrong eventually less of our targets will join. Enough of the midfielders we have a number of options already and yet there are other obvious areas where quality additions could make a real difference CB and ST spring to mind. On a positive note we do seem to be getting our business done early, Milner, Ings and Bogdan although not necessarily star signings will improve the squad and Kovacic could be a great signing IMO.
