Not a bad game but not particularly good either.

Coutinho and Sturridge were pretty quiet today.

Sakho, moreno and lucas all did a good job defensively.

Ings is starting to look like a shrewd bit of business, if he can provide even 10 goals this season it's worth it.

Mignolet was superb, did all he could to keep us in it.

Can and milner had shockers again today. Twice in a row we have conceded from pretty much the exact same defensive error.

Clyne looks very scared to lose possession which removes all attacking threat from him. He has the potential to be just as good at getting forward as moreno but needs to take on his man rather than turning and passing backwards all the time.

Skyrtel will give away a penalty sooner or later. He gets away with murder in the box.

Surely Rogers must be hanging by a thread after all the hype around his position.

I would drop milner for henderson when back. He is too hit or miss, runs flat out for 90 mins but doesn't do much with it. Henderson is far less wasteful and has everything milner brings to the team.

Alot of work for the new manager coming in if that ever does happen.

Hey Eds. Is there anything new with Verrati of PSG? Do we hold any interest that you know of?

{Ed002's Note - There is no interest from Liverpool.}

Heard that Bologne are interested in Borini now that Sunderland seem to have backed off.

Is this rubbish?
Not from twitter btw heh.

1.) 07 Jul 2014 16:41:41
If Sunderland cannot afford him, I don't see how Bologna can.

{Ed008's Note - Bologna have just been relegated to Serie B have huge financial problems I very much doubt they could afford Borini let alone see him joining the club.

Papers saying we will go back in for Kono and maybe scramble for Toni Kroos in the summer. Would be brilliant additions to the squad but I doubt anyone is expecting Kroos.

Cant see our budget covering both of them.

1.) Surely some of the money we get from Suarez will go to transfers, as well as the TV rights deal and potential CL money if we did manage to make it.

2.) I'd love Firmino. Can't see us meeting Kroos' wage demands either.

3.) 05 Feb 2014 01:09:17
Absolutely zero chance of Kroos unless we win the league! He will have a number of CL clubs queuing up for his services.

31 Jan 2014 13:32:03
Sly aports just said some of the complecations of the kono deal are "unbelievable". Do you know anything about this eds?

{Ed001's Note - it is a number of things, add ons, signing fees, pay offs, palm greasing etc.}

1.) Ssn have also just said that we are in talks right now with the player and his agent father over a 5 and a half year deal so does that mean that stuff like pay offs and agent fees are now complete and it's just about the contract now

{Ed001's Note - seems to be all done, yes.}

2.) 31 Jan 2014 13:55:42
Think they are repeating the phrase 'unbelievable' from a tweet this morning by Kono's agent, James Tippett @JamTipp78.

3.) Thanks a lot I don't no how or where you get your little snipets or info from wish I was in the no like you eds but hey we still get info great job guys and here's hoping for a successful end to the window also if we do infact sign him will he be eligible to play west brom

{Ed001's Note - years of getting to know the right people mate. Ed002's contacts are way better than mine, worldwide. It is just a case of talking to people really. Also, they have to trust that you won't reveal things they don't want known, which can be frustrating as sometimes we know things we can't reveal.}

4.) Lucky people your not lfc or ex lfc players are you lol

{Ed001's Note - no, I wish.}

So how do people think the top 6 will look come May Next year?
My predictions are:
1. Liverpool
2. Manchester City
3. Chelsea
4. Manchester United
5. Arsenal
6. Tottenham

Liverpool being top is a bias opinion and I WANT it to happen more than I think it WILL happen but if anyone can stick it to city it will be us, we beat them 3 times last year so if we tighten up at the back and produce the same level of consistency against the smaller teams like they do, we could be in for a shout no? Optimism

City in second is obvious, it's us or them this year for me. Other than some sort of repeat of Leicester's recent crazy season I can't see this one going any other way. They are expected to be the best team again this season.

Chelsea looked to be a bit of a shambles up until a few days ago, now I really think they could go on to be one of the better teams this year. If they keep hold of Hazard and replace Willian and Courtois with Kepa, Kovacic, Fekir and Jorginho I think they will have done brilliant business. Kepa is not a huge step down from Courtois and they already have some of the best defenders in Alonso and Azpilicueta. They will have a midfield to rival anyone's and the only position they will still need improvement would be strikers. If they get Morata firing they will be a strong unit all round.

United look to be falling apart before the season has begun. History doesn't read well for Mourinho when it comes to his Third season in charge of a club. United's squad from last season was filled with holes that needed plugging and so far they have bought 1 midfielder and a 19 year old fullback. One thing you cannot take away from them though is that they still finished Second last season and they have an annoying nack for pulling results out of nothing. Despite finishing 6 (7 points adrift of top 4) Mourinho won 2 trophies in his first season and even Van Gaal won the FA cup during his short reign. One thing is for sure, unless something drastic happens in the next 24 hours, they will not be pushing for the title.

Arsenal are the dark horses for me this year, I can't help but think that Wenger's stagnant style of management was holding this club back and with a fresh look and a squad which on paper would please any new manager, they could turn it around this year. They are packed with world class players that just need a little dusting off and polishing. That being said I think it will take time to build momentum again and it is too early to think about breaking back into the top 4.

I don't think Spurs can go another season with the bare minimum in transfer activity and expect to still be competing at the top. They have a very good striker and a fairly rounded squad with some decent players like Son, Ali, Trippier and Errikson but over the last 3 seasons of the senior players the only ones that have added something to the squad are Trippier, Son, Alderwield, Sanchez, Aurier and Moura. With just over 24 hours to go until the window closes it seems like they are happy to go into next season with the same squad as last year. It certainly shows confidence in your squad.

This post was much longer than I had intended, sorry!

1.) 08 Aug 2018 14:56:49
1 City 2 Liverpool 3 United (de Gea) 4 Tottenham (because of their existing quality) 5 Chelsea 6 Arsenal

I think we have the best 11 but City have a better squad. Everyone will underrate Tottenham due to not signing anyone but that doesn't mean they don't already have quality. United are United, never underestimate them, especially when they have the best keeper in the world.

2.) 08 Aug 2018 14:58:28
Think city purely depends on other teams attitudes. If teams turn up rolling over and having their belly tickled like last season then no one will catch city. However if teams have a go and get in there faces teams can pick up points against them.
Either way all we can do is take it game by game and see where it gets us.

3.) 08 Aug 2018 15:01:57
Think you're underestimating Spurs there mate.

Man City
Liverpool
Spurs
Chelsea
United
Arsenal.

6.) 08 Aug 2018 16:52:27
I think this coming season is the best shot we will have had at winning the title in a decade. The reasons I can think of are : 1) We've had the best off-season of the top 6 teams in terms of players coming in and being available for training and the games, 2) ManU seems unsettled thanks to Moanrinho briliant psychological warfare work against his own players, 3) Chelsea and Arsenal have new managers who have never managed in the EPL before; it takes time to learn the ropes and the rhythm of the season (not everyone can do a Conte and win in their first season), 4) ManC is the most serious rival but I firmly believe Klopp has Guardiola's number (shown many times), 5) Spurs will be in "standby" mode until their stadium is ready to receive them back, and 6) Klopp is under tremendous pressure to finally deliver after quite a few seasons without trophies and title wins; he must show measurable progress over last year's UCL Final apearance with either a win this time or an EPL title.

7.) 08 Aug 2018 17:29:29
I don't think Arsenal have done enough to get top 4 and I don't think Liverpool have done enough to win the league. They should get closer to City but it depends on what happens before the window closes, for all the clubs.

As it stands at the minute, for me City, Liverpool, United, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal.

8.) 08 Aug 2018 17:34:35
I don’t see spurs third. They haven’t bought anyone and they are losing Alderweireld at some point but also don’t play him. On top of that aren’t Dembele and Rose set to leave?

I think they will be fourth or fifth this season as CL will take its tol along with the other cups.

9.) 08 Aug 2018 18:53:50
Jonesred, I hope you're right, I'd much prefer to see Arsenal in their top 4 place but I don't know, I see them having another strong season.

10.) 08 Aug 2018 18:53:50
Jonesred, I hope you're right, I'd much prefer to see Arsenal in their top 4 place but I don't know, I see them having another strong season.

11.) 08 Aug 2018 19:03:18
I honestly think people are underestimating Arsenal. They have some big players, and it’s all up to Emery to get them ticking together.
Gk: Cech + Leno
Def: sokratis, Montreal, Bellerin (not the best but they have reinforced since last season)
Mid: toreira
Attacking mid: Ozil, mkhi
Strikers: Lafayette, Aubameyang.

12.) 09 Aug 2018 06:02:13
Out of those 6 I rekon

City
Liverpool
Chelsea
Arsenal
Spurs
ManU.

13.) 09 Aug 2018 09:26:19
Klopping - on talent alone, I'd say that Auba, Ozil and the Bellerin of two years ago are the only ones that get near our first XI, and only Ozil would be semi-guarenteed of starting - Bellerin would have work to do to dislodge TAA and Auba would have to score enough to justify occuping the space that Mane and Salah want to use.

31 Jul 2018 11:20:29
So, it seems our transfer business is done as far as incomings are concerned. Hats off to the recruitment staff and the owners, fair to say nearly everyone at Liverpool is happy with the business and nearly everyone not at Liverpool will be slightly jealous of what we have achieved this window.

I know it's a bit of a bold statement but looking at our starting XI I can't see any weak links or any room for improvement at the moment, as the season goes on I'm sure some cracks may form. Maybe Lovren has been guilty of bad performances in the past but he is playing so much better alongside VVD. TAA is young and with youth comes mistakes but he did so well last season against the likes of Sane, Nainggolan and Ronaldo at just 19 years old, I have no doubts he will go on to be one of the best right backs in the league.

And admittedly Keita, Fabinho, Shaqiri and Alisson have barely kicked a ball for us between them and have yet to integrate into the squad with the rest of the players from last season but they were putting in such high performances for their previous clubs, I think its unlikely they will struggle to do the same at our club with such a strong squad around them. I'm calling it now, Firmino and Keita will devastate teams with their high pressing, Firmino was hard enough to play against as it was, now there will be 2 of them.

The most impressive thing about all this is that we finally have strong bench players to come in too, Sturridge is looking sharp, hopefully he can stay fit as he will get chances for sure, if not young Solanke looks decent enough. Shaqiri seems to be a perfect replacement for either Salah or Mane if they go off, he looks hungry and energetic. Defenders are not going to want to see a tired Salah or Mane go off and then see this guy bought on. The new look midfield we have this season is replaceable with last seasons midfield that took us to a champions league final. I should imagine Milner and Henderson will be interchanging as first choice along with Keita and Fabinho and then there is Wijnaldum, Lallana and eventually Oxlade. Even Karius should be sufficient cover for Alisson, he made mistakes that cost us a final sure but he also helped get us there in the first place.

The only area we lack in decent replacements is defence, Gomez can cover TAA and Lovren/ VVD but beyond him I don't have much faith in Matip, Klavan, Moreno or Clyne. A few injuries to our defence and we will be heavily relying on Alisson to keep the goals out. Its not the best way to ease a new goalkeeper into your squad.

There is also huge pressure on Klopp to deliver a trophy of some kind this season, if you cannot do it with this squad then how will you ever manage it? Klopp has taken us to 3 finals now and fallen at the last hurdle each time. These players we have will not want to stay at a fruitless club when they can walk into most teams in Europe. I can't help but think we are teetering on the edge of glory or implosion. Either way, I'm am hugely excited to see what our boys will accomplish this year.

1.) 31 Jul 2018 12:48:45
Glory!

2.) 31 Jul 2018 13:12:10
Agree wth everything you say apart from the implosion bit, as long as we are top 4 and have a good run in a major cup, I think we would keep moving forward next year even if it would be disappointing not to win something given the talent we have now.

3.) 31 Jul 2018 14:01:51
I think there is lot to say about having winners. And currently we have a team full of losers. So hopefully we swing that around.

4.) 31 Jul 2018 15:25:13
There are 3 cups with 6 teams more than capable of winning them.

I think as long as there is progress it can still be called a successful season. Higher than 4th and 1/ 4 finals or more in fa and league cup.

5.) 31 Jul 2018 17:03:00
With you Robbie, there’s a lot of sense in saying progress rather than expecting everything because LFC did good transfer business (transfers in that is) . I feel like the media will be ready to pounce if we have a few bad games, but hopefully that doesn’t happen and as a fall back Klopp’s always been good at deflecting with his banter and cheesy grin! 😂.

6.) 31 Jul 2018 23:16:56
Totally agree with nosh bag. We have some very talented players that would easily get into RM Barcelona Juve or pSG. Guaranteed trophies. Players of this quality do not consider finishing 4th or runner up in a cup as success. So as much as they love LFC fans, they can't display them on their mantlepiece. If we don't win a trophy next season it will be a failure.

7.) 01 Aug 2018 09:47:59
Langland you Bubble Popper! 😂.

07 Jun 2018 12:16:32
We already have Fabinho and Keita coming in, if we get Allison, Fekir and Shaqiri there will be a huge abundance of players not even making the bench let alone the first team. It’s safe to say that the players who will keep their place based on current form are Salah, Firmino, Mane, Van Dijk, Robertson and possibly Lovren. It’s also fair to say that Fekir, Fabinho, Keita and Allison would be bought in as first team players.

So, going off our regular formation from last season you would say that our starting line-up (all players above signed and nobody leaving other than Emre Can) would be: Mane, Firmino, Salah, Fekir, Keita, Fabinho/ Henderson, Robertson, VVD, Lovren, TAA and Allison.

The bench would likely consist of: Solanke, Shaqiri, Oxlade, Fabinho/ Henderson, Moreno, Gomez and Karius. That leaves us the following players in reserves who may not even make the bench until injuries come into play: Ings, Origi, Sturridge, Milner, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Grujic, Markovic, Klavan, Matip, Clyne, Flanagan, Mignolet, Bogdan and the youth players Ward, Randall, Woodburn and Ojo who are reaching an age where you should start being noticed as potential starter if you hope to make it at the club.

Obviously, there are exceptions like Woodburn (18) and TAA (19) for us or Sessengon (17) at Fulham but on average its rare for a youth player under 20 years old to cement a place at a top 6 side.

The point im trying to make with all of this is that of all the reserve players (Some of you may disagree with who starts or who is on the bench) Lallana, Ward and Sturridge appear to want out, I doubt Ings, Grujic or Origi would want to be in the reserves for another season. Milner and Klavan are coming towards the end of their careers both at 32 years of age and Mignolet, Bogdan, Markovic, Clyne and Flanagan seem to have all been deemed not good enough.

So it limits the selection of reserve players happy to just be called upon when needed to Milner and Klavan (for the time being), Wijnaldum, Matip, Randall, Woodburn and Ojo.

What does everyone else think? Is this enough or do we have issues? Am I talking rubbish?

1.) 07 Jun 2018 13:42:50
Defence:

(Alisson) / Karius---Mignolet, Ward and Bogdan are going to leave.
A. Arnold/ Gomez----Clyne and Flanagan are going to leave.
Lovren/ Matip
VanDijk/ Klavan
Robertson/ Moreno

Middlefield:

Fabinho/ Henderson---Can is leaving on a free and Chirivella can be kept as back up or will leave.
(Fekir) / Chamberlain---Milner maybe will stay because Chamberlain is out half season.
Keita/ Wijnaldum---Lallana is leaving, Grujic maybe a loan or will leave too and Ejaria is going on loan.

Forwards:

Salah and Mane/ (Malcom, Vasquez or the kid from nigeria? linked yesterday) ---Markovic is leaving, Wilson, Kent, Ojo and Woodburn will compete to stay in the team as cover i think two of them will leave on loan and two will be kept for cover.

Firmino/ Solanke was his cover but if he goes to Rangers on loan maybe Origi is kept if not he will leave. ---Sturridge will leave and Brewster will leave if he doesn't sign a contract extension if he does he will stay as cover.

Dont worry we are going to have a pretty strong XI and our bench will be Strong too with a mix of youth.

3 signings to go!

2.) 07 Jun 2018 13:43:10
I think you're working on the assumption that our squad will still be a tight numbers, rigid affair. With more viable players we will be resting people and playing tactically a lot more. A very small group of players will play close enough every game, although even they will be rotated to stay fresh over busier periods. The rest will be selected on form in training, form during games and as a tactical fit for our game plan. If we are playing someone that is obviously going to stay in their box and only ever try to attack with long balls to an isolated striker, someone like Fabinho is probably a waste and we could see Keita sit slightly deeper with Ox and another player (Fekir if we sign him, Keita if we don't with Hendo deeper) allowed to harass from the midfield for example. In games where we expect a more physical fight from the start, Trent and and Firmino might make way for Solanke and Gomez to give more of a physical presence and be more effective at shielding our quick runners and knocking high balls into their path.

Every team has their best XI, but we need to get out of the mindset of 'first XI' and start thinking about a versatile squad who can think more tactically than just doing what we want to do better than they do what they want to do. Which is why I'm so gutted Buvac doesn't look like he's returning (or at least, not any time soon), because from the sounds of interviews over the years it seems like he was the most tactically minded of our coaches and if he stayed, he'd finally be looking at a time period where his view could carry weight because our squad and tactics aren't entirely dictated by player fitness.

3.) 07 Jun 2018 15:05:46
People still underestimating aoc. He's been a star of the Premier league for 6 years, playing at the highest level and he's going to lose his place to a couple of players who have done well in the poxy French league. Don't get me wrong I rate fekir and Fabhinio but I don't think players like Henderson and the ox will be stepping down without a fight and I would never again bet against aoc becoming a star like he did last season.

4.) 07 Jun 2018 15:41:11
I reckon Gerrard should make a cheeky bid for origi.

25 May 2018 11:14:14
The anticipation is becoming unbearable. I doubt I’m the only person sat in work doing very little as my mind is focused on other things.

One thing I would like to share which I find interesting. I was born in 1989 during the season we last won the league. I never really liked football as a child/ teenager until I found the pub life at around 17. The first full match I watched was the Champions league final in Istanbul in 2006, whilst I sat there with the pint that my slightly older friends had to buy for me and watched one of the greatest comebacks in history I was hooked on this sport and this club.

5 months ago, on the 3rd of January 2018, my girlfriend gave birth to my firstborn Son Alexander (Xander) . I’m quite a logical thinking un-superstitious science loving atheist so it could only be purely coincidental but still a beautifully crafted coincidence for Liverpool to win a major trophy in the same year he was born like they did when his dad was born 29 years ago.

Maybe it’s the lack of sleep, waking up at 4 in the morning to make a bottle and lull a screaming infant back to sleep or maybe it’s having to listen to Chelsea, Utd and City fans banging on about all the trophies they have won in the last 12 years I have been supporting Liverpool but other than the little gift I was graced with in January, I have never wanted anything more than for our boys to win this competition.

Let’s bring that trophy back home and establish ourselves back among the elite where we belong!

1.) 25 May 2018 11:36:06
Great stry noshbag, I'm also trying to think of every 'sign' from on high that its our year again!

BTW, was 2005 in Istanbul, so you were only 16 ;-)

2.) 25 May 2018 11:46:31
Be careful mate - if we go on to win, fellow posters might be demanding you have a child every year to help us push for major honours!

3.) 25 May 2018 11:46:59
My first game was Istanbul too. I was about 11 I think. I didn't even play football befire then as i quit at about 7 to focus on martial arts.

I remember watching the FA cup final a year later when I understood things a bit more and I just went absolutely nuts when Gerrard equalised in the dying moments.

This club is my life and It has been for pretty much as long as I can remember. I'm certainly not alone in feeling that way either. We are Liverpool!

4.) 25 May 2018 11:50:33
You are completely right Zeddicus, I was 16 ;) …. shhhhh.

5.) 25 May 2018 12:04:11
Enjoying these posts,

I was born in 89 too. My dad took me to my first match when i was 7, watched us beat MyPa-47 in a European match. Hooked since that day.

Istanbul was memorable for so many reasons. I missed the first half as I was 'preoccupied' with my then gf (for the first time if you get me, took more like 45 seconds than 45 mins)

Anyway was convinced it was my fault we were loosing for not watching. Then watched us turn it around - best night of my life at the time.

So don't worry boys if we are loosing at half time I'll ask my wife for a new 'first' and we will surely turn it around #an*l ;)

Not quite as sentimental as your story Noshbag.

6.) 25 May 2018 12:09:52
Allerton, I wouldn't bother mate. That's not all it is "cracked" up to be. Maybe get a couple of her friends to come over, and play in the hole behind a front 3. That sounds like a much better "first". If she cares about You, she'll say yes.

7.) 25 May 2018 12:12:07
May I suggest, Allerton, that you should have been avoiding any nuptials since we got through to the final. Just to be on the safe side, like!

8.) 25 May 2018 12:48:21
MK I've tried that one, apparently her sisters don't count as friends in this scenario.

Zed don't worry like a boxer before a prize fight I have everything bottled up, ready for that champagne moment when Bobby scores a no-look and I will explode.

9.) 25 May 2018 12:58:02
Ed001, this site has changed so much 😂.

{Ed001's Note - I am getting worried...}

10.) 25 May 2018 12:29:08
At half time in 2005, my missus said to me, 'Don't worry I am sure they will come back in the second half. '
I kind of scoffed at her and thought 'what do you know? '.
For obvious reasons I hope we are not having that conversation again tomorrow. But if we are, I may take her more seriously this time.

11.) 25 May 2018 17:40:59
C*ck on the block. this site certainly has changed, think i was about 13 when I started reading haha.

11 Apr 2018 14:08:29
Quick question for Ed001,

What's your thoughts on Coutinho getting a Champions league medal? Lots of people seem to disagree with it, Thommo included saying "I'd like to think if we do go on to win it that he says no I don't deserve it, I don't care its wrong. "

I can see what they are saying as he only played 5 games for us in the group stages and got 5 goals and 2 assists of which 4 of those goals and both assists came in the 2 games that were 7-0 Demolitions of Spartak and Maribor. So he didn't really make a difference in the long run.

But he did play for us and as a result wasn't allowed to play for Barcelona so I think its only fair that he gets a medal for his (albeit) small service to our champions league run.

{Ed001's Note - if we win it, I really don't see the problem with him getting one. Every player who played for us in the competition should get a medal, no matter how small a part. Plus it is a bit Bullseye-like to show him what he could have won!}

1.) 11 Apr 2018 14:18:03
He should get one as he contributed, if Salah only played 5 games in the group stages and then got injured all season but we still won nobody would be questioning if he should get a medal or not.
Coutinho left to win medals so I think it’s quite fitting that him leaving actually made our team better and enabled him to “win” a medal that he left for. Lol.

2.) 11 Apr 2018 14:49:10
He can have a medal but we won't be getting picked to play in the final 😂.

3.) 11 Apr 2018 15:03:35
I don't think he should to be honest.
He tried to derail our season before it began and then nearly did derail it when he got his move.
I loved him when he was here and wish him well on his new club but him leaving mid season knowing he'd be cup tied for the Champions League shows how little faith he had in our team to progress.
If he didn't think we could win it then why should he benefit if we do?

4.) 11 Apr 2018 15:15:49
Of course he should get it, the tradition is that if he played a part he gets it.

As he chose to jump ship rather than fight out the difficult part, he can be an adult about it and choose to donate it to someone who didn't get one - a coach or someone from the medical team perhaps. It's what I would do certainly considering the limited number issued. But that's his choice and it's up to him how he sees his career and contributions.

Not only that but he was instrumental in us even qualifying.

6.) 11 Apr 2018 15:22:59
Yes that's true Ron. I hadn't considered that.

7.) 11 Apr 2018 15:44:50
I think we should conventrate on winning it first before we start dishing out the medals.

8.) 11 Apr 2018 15:45:43
I believe that once a player hands in a transfer request, and then leaves his club, then all ties are cut,
he is then an ex player,
so no,
he left us, he should not be entitled to any medal,
so, in the event of us winning another Champions League Final, only players and staff should receive a medal .

9.) 11 Apr 2018 15:48:49
I like to think we’ll win it and dominate Europe for the next decade or so and in that period, Barcelona will come short frequently and at the end of his disappointing what could have been career- he’ll look at that solitary mocking European medal he had barely a hand in winning and it will just eat away at him and many years from now, lying on his death bed with that medal fixed tightly in his withered hands he’ll. okay sorry. That was a little dark.

10.) 11 Apr 2018 16:51:35
Quite a few sounding bitter above, beginning to resemble the neighbours fellas.

11.) 11 Apr 2018 16:58:36
I think it’s more the raw hurt still caused by Coutinhos behavior while pushing for the move. In truth I doubt any fan would actually have any issue at all with the lad getting a medal. We’d all be too deliriously happy with the trophy.

12.) 11 Apr 2018 19:14:43
I would invite him onto the open top bus parade and lend him a kit as well as give him a medal, why not? Hahaha.

13.) 12 Apr 2018 14:14:19
aoe - a bit dark? What counts as very dark to you?!

Thank you for the update Macca, I'm sure everyone would agree your insight is extremely appreciated by everyone on here.
Could I be cheeky and just ask what position this player plays in?

Even if this were true, all bids should be rejected. We are not a feeder club for Real and Barca. We don't need money in the bank but we do need good players.

I'm sure Southampton are saying the same thing about us but the difference is that over the last 20 or so years we have been title contenders bar 4 or 5 bad seasons. We should be aiming to be as powerful as Real Madrid or Barcelona like we once were, not settling for mediocrity by selling every decent player we have, even if it is for grossly over inflated bags of cash.

@ Whz

Ok fair enough, Dudek and Arbeloa are hardly big losses but you have mentioned every other player on that list.

Sterling was definitely a big loss, he was replaced by Ibe who didn't quite cut it and the club suffered on the wings because of it. It is only now with the addition of Mane and Salah that we have decent wide options and we are doing much better.

Coutinho is a player we did not want to lose. Firmino is a player we cannot afford to lose. Keep this one happy at all costs I say.

Was a good tackle, 1 footed, got the ball completely and the change in direction and momentum from the ball caused Ramos to start going down before he was even touched by Dier on the follow through.

However Ramos gets up and complains like he has never done that sort of thing to another player before, take it on the chin like players do when on the end of one of your tackles does you mook.

Im not so sure, the midfield in 08/ 09 consisted of 3 extremely good individual players.

The midfield we have now is a team of Not so obviously outstanding players but who are yielding the same results and work very well as a unit.

Milner (as Ed01 mentioned) has been one of the players of the season so far up there with Van Dijk, Mane, Hazard, Aguero and Moura.
Wijnaldum has come on leaps and bounds from where he was last season. Its like we have a new signing in midfield, which is ironic because we actually have 2 new singings in midfield.
Henderson seems so far to have shaken off his injury problems and is playing more consistently. He will always have his critics but as a little example of what he brings, in the 6 league games he has played in, we have not conceded a goal whilst he was on the pitch.

Then you have the other midfielders who aren't even getting into this team at the moment. Going off the last game Shaqiri seems suited to a "No.10" role, and another set piece taker to add to the mix. Big things are expected of Keita and rightly so, the guy looks class and we have seen very little of him so far, Lallana we know is a great player and will bring a different edge to the team and of course there is Fabinho who is being intergrated slowly and Oxlade to come back from injury eventually.

I don't think our squad has had this much depth in quality ever.

Salah's contribution to the site is sorely missed, there is no intrusion at all. Hope he gets well soon x.
