What happened to the left back we recently signed last season and played for u23 a no he got injured but is he pressing for the squad or did he not get enough chances thru injury.

I think one of the eds said he is highly regarded but the coaches now see him as a centre back.

His role was massively exaggerated and he will still be the u23 left back. Did he make the Spain u20 squad? Nope. did he make their u21 squad? Nope. Give him 6 months of u23 games and see where he gets but I doubt he will play more than 10 senior games in his lfc career.

Maybe cos he's injured, Jezza. And even if he was fit and did not make their team so what? Have you seen that team with Asensio, Gaya, Deulefeu, Inaki Martins, Saul, Bellerin, Dani Ceballos (Real and Barcelona are in a bidding war for him)? Some our fans are a true joy sometimes.

I watched him play in the flesh last summer for the then u21's against Milton Keynes. He played left back that day with Woodburn in front of him and Maguire as the centre back next to him.
The link with both players was good. Maguire always looked to shift it out to him, and with Woodburn constantly cutting inside it let Juanma get forward down the side.
My only concern that day was that Juanma was very quick to get forward, but his final pass was a bit poor, and he wasn't as keen to get back and help Maguire out. That is why the link there worked so well though as Maguire was originally a left back so was comfortable when pulled out wide to close down the winger.
Juanma also looked far too keen to go to ground in the tackle. On the day, he got it right every time but it was alarming how last ditch all of his defensive actions were.
I think that is why he has been moved to Centre back. Youth football is all about development and he could be a good left back if he learns to appreciate the centre back he is leaving in trouble. He could also be a good ball playing centre back though because whilst his final cross was poor usually, he looked very comfortable on the ball.
I am keen to see how he develops next season, but like Jezza, I very much doubt he has a long term future at the club. The best full back I saw that day was actually Sam Hart. He looked a menace when he came on. Hart rarely gets mentioned though because I think he is a right back and Arnold is quite simply better.
Of all the youth players at the club right now I think Masterson, Arnold and Woodburn are best placed to make it at Liverpool in my opinion. Things change quickly though. See Rossiter, Wisdom, Suso, Wilson and Ojo if you want an example. Dhanda and Brewster are well thought of but I don't see them getting a fair crack. Youth strikers always look good as well. Morgan, Sinclair or Nemeth anyone?
Virtue and Alves are both decent midfielders but no better than Brannagan who has fallen by the wayside. Grabara and Kelleher are good keepers, but so were Gulacsi and Ward.
The problem is, to get a chance you need to be exceptional and have a bit of fortune with regards to were the space is in the first team. We are weak in defence so players like Gomez, Masterson and Arnold have a very good opportunity to get chances. We also lack depth in wide areas so Woodburn will get a few more chances as he is the one truly exceptional player in the academy. I just hope his slight frame doesn't hold him back like it did Rossiter.

We need to lower Sakho's asking price. Bring it down to 25 million and maybe someone will bite. If not, then make it 20 million plus add ons and im sure Palace will jump at the chance to sign him. Better to get something than nothing for a player Klopp wants nothing to do with.

Really looking forward to next season. Havnt seen so much talent coming through the youths like this for a very long time with Wilson, Woodburn, ejaria, Arnold Trent the one am looking forward to seeing more also ward stepping up hopefully at Huddersfield for 1 more year.

I'm not so sure the youth is that great? With the exception of taa I'd say I haven't seen much yet. For me Woodburn hasn't really shown much to expire in the few appearances he has made, a bait he is very young but I'm not so sure on him. I hope he lives up to the billing as it would be great to have a home grown star again. What's people's thoughts on him? Cheers.

TAA is an outstanding talent IMO, as is Woodburn (just younger so a year or two behind) . Ejaria I personally think has the goods too.
Wilson and Ojo are up for debate IMO - Wilson has looked a class apart in u23 but he's looked the most out of place at senior level. Ojo has been hampered by Injury and needs to get back up to speed again fast.
I think the most likely to make it is actually probably the one who gets the most game time - you can't step up to PL standard by playing 15mins cameos every 3 months, you need to get proper time on the pitch with the senior players for a prolonged period and that's the hardest thing to offer them.

He had plenty time to control turn and find a pass u see many of keepers passing that same ball. He took a poor touch his 2nd 1 was a tackle. Hopefully that's karius back in now tho anyways with lovren so it's all good. A very good win.
{Ed001's Note - look again, he wasn't expecting a pass, he was about to start jogging forwards, which is why the touch was so bad as it was an adjustment while trying to look round and see someone to pass to. As for plenty of time, if he had so much time, why was his second touch a tackle? Ridiculous to suggest he had plenty of time, he was being closed down before the ball was passed to him.
It was a bad touch, he made a mess of it, but he did not have plenty of time or he would have had time to recover. I don't even see how anyone who watched it could suggest that he had plenty of time. Mind anyone who thinks a guy on the edge of his penalty box should turn with the ball is obviously not thinking straight. He was looking forward when the ball was passed, so where do you want him to turn to? What a ridiculous thing to say. It was quite clear there was no one to pick out as everyone was setting for a longer pass due to Leicester's closing down.}

Buying dahoud would just mean grudjic who every1 was raving about in prem season falling down pecking order who he has just bought. Left back will b bought unless milner somehow manages to play consistently well there until Jan. Just my opinion.

I'm a goalkeeper who's has been critical of migs over the years. But it's been harsh on him for that. Was a fluke goal and probably the only place he would have scored was in that top corner. Just got to take it on the chin 1 off goal. Think we needed fresher legs on the pitch a lot earlier to close the ball down quicker and for counter attack.

Firmino is a very clever player opens a lot of space. Drags defenders out of position. Never greedy. My opinion but that front line won't tick anywhere near without him.

Has clyne actually beat a man and put a cross in this season. For some1 that has pace to burn he just can't get passed a man he seems to turn back and go backward every time. Slows play up.
