The mirror is reporting that we are allegedly battling Chelsea for the services of Timo Werner.

I take it Ed’s a pinch of salt is needed with this article.

1.) 19 Jan 2020 11:15:45
He isn’t moving in January so don’t need to even discuss it!

2.) 19 Jan 2020 14:09:32
Fits the mould. Great stats and reasonably priced. Scores for fun

Dream signings

Koulabaly
Verratti
Werner

Unstoppable.

3.) 19 Jan 2020 18:43:12
Dream signings:

No one.

Still unstoppable.

4.) 19 Jan 2020 19:03:21
Riomazy. Koulibaly's very much preferred position is the left sided centre-back. The same as Van Dijk. Van Dijk is the better player. Add all these up and you'll reach an conclusion of "it won't happen".

5.) 19 Jan 2020 21:07:10
We finished our business for January, we have a prefect squad and a complete team. We have 15 dream signings playing for us already .
Be happy and enjoy the best season we 've had in 30 years.

Roy.

6.) 20 Jan 2020 03:00:04
Who needs Koulibaly when we’ve got Gomez?

7.) 20 Jan 2020 18:11:40
Roy, this could be the best season anyone has ever had :-)

{Ed025's Note - unless you get beat of course BP, and then you cant match the arsenal invincibles mate, even if you get the record points tally (which i think you will) i dont think it can usurp that achievement..

8.) 20 Jan 2020 22:49:42
You’re absolutely right Ed. To go a season unbeaten is amazing and would be an incredible achievement. There is a very good reason why it’s only ever been done once. It’s almost impossible to do.
However there’s also a very good reason why only one team in all of Europe’s top 5 leagues has ever started a league season with 21 wins and a draw ;-)

{Ed025's Note - very true mate..

9.) 20 Jan 2020 23:41:26
I don't think there's any reason we'd buy big this window when we are cruising showing no weak areas. Minamino was exactly what we desired and I'm sure any potential transfer talk we debate is more in view of summer moves. I'd love Werner to add more real quality in attack, possibly a lovren replacement and a left sided player capable of covering robbo while a bonus being a versatile type who could also operate at left CB or one that can play higher up in midfield like Milner has. We don't need more than 3 or 4 squad additions unless we lose big players. Lovren, Shaqiri, lallana realistic squad departures, minamino already added is great business.

Ed’s,

Sorry for throwing out a random name etc, but are or have Lfc ever been interested can christian Eriksen?

His contract is close to expiring.

Appreciate hearing your thoughts.

Niall42

{Ed002's Note - No.}

1.) 10 Nov 2019 13:54:02
The only rumours that I've heard of were before he joined Tottenham.

2.) 10 Nov 2019 23:29:07
Wouldn’t even want him on a free, technically gifted yes, but soft and goes missing in big moments.

3.) 11 Nov 2019 07:43:56
far too lazy to be a klopp player. he has stopped playing for spurs since the champions league final.

{Ed001's Note - he is also nowhere near good enough.}

Ed’s bit of a subjective question, but seen Paddy Powers commented on it recently. may have previously been asked too, so apologies in advance.

Anyhows, of our current first team how would they stack up against ferries best team, as in the fabled treble winners etc. how many if any would get into that team.

Niall42

{Ed001's Note - I don't know as I can't remember who was in that and it is a squad game now, so really difficult to compare.}

1.) 20 Jan 2020 01:57:18
I honestly think it's which of their players get in our team? We are taking it to new levels.

2.) 20 Jan 2020 11:37:32
If you are talking about players that would have got into the squad they had a load. That squad was amazing. Schmeichel, Neville, Irwin, Stam, Beckham, Giggs, Keane, Scholes, Sheringham, Yorke, Cole (cos of his goals) and even Oli.

If anyone is looking for some lighthearted entertainment, Tom Hicks has done an interview with sky sports.

It’s on the sky sports app now.

I read that this morning. The guy is delusional! Not too much debt and the only thing that went wrong was that rbs didn’t let them refinance ! Also fsg’s entire success is only due to klopp. Brilliant.

2.) 03 Dec 2019 11:00:53
i have just read this, i am so relieved this man is not involved with Liverpool Football club any longer. comes across as very bitter refuses to take any responsibility whatsoever.

FSG are obviously in this for profit also and have made mistakes but all in all i appreciate them.

3.) 03 Dec 2019 18:31:37
Typical American tycoon rubbish. Never taking any type of responsibility for any of their failures. Always blaming someone else. "Nothing is ever my fault. It was all Gillet's fault. Oh woe is me", blah, blah, blah. The guy is pathetic. I think he is just jealous of what FSG is doing n how the club is functioning now at the highest level.

4.) 03 Dec 2019 22:50:46
I would LOVE to read a review of that interview from Ed 001.

{Ed001's Note - I haven't seen it mate. I will have to take a look at it when I can.}

5.) 03 Dec 2019 23:43:02
Well when you do your insights will be classic I’m sure. I can’t wait to read your comments. It will be like an early Christmas present.

{Ed001's Note - you might be giving me a little too much credit there!}

30 Nov 2019 21:10:20
Eds, we’re conceding pretty much every game, albeit 1 goal mostly.

When defending free kicks, we seem susceptible to crosses.

Man city are also conceding quite often.

Is there a reason for this? If so what is the reason.?

Was just thinking of Allison and his clean sheet record from last season.

Niall42

{Ed001's Note - we have a set up that other teams have worked out plans to beat. It happens. In time we will figure out how to deal with those plans and then it will improve until someone figures out a new way to defeat out defence and so on.}

1.) 30 Nov 2019 21:44:09
Ed, I also feel like the OP in terms of both teams conceding goals more often than last season. I agree that our setup allows for other teams to come at us regardless of whether Fab plays or not. However my question is that is it cos teams have sussed out ways to attack us more or is it cos are we a victim of our open style esp. when we lose the ball or is it both?

{Ed001's Note - all of the above plus we are inviting them onto us more, especially when we have a lead. That is the most worrying thing is that we are in control of a number of games but not putting them to bed. The one time we had done enough to put it to bed, we then sat back and let RB Salzburg in to drag us back into a game we had easily won.

It feels like it is this game management thing that pundits kept wittering on about. It seems to have got into the players heads and they are trying to manage a game once we get our noses in front. That doesn't suit us. We are best when we go at teams and take the game to them. Once we stop doing that we struggle because we are not set up to hold a lead. Dropping off and holding is not our game. The defence are too well drilled in holding a high line and squeezing the play so the attack and midfield can press and win the ball back high. Today, for instance, that allowed Brighton back in. The defence continued to try and stay high, but the midfield and attack were looking to drop off and sit in to see out the game. It ended up with Virgil pushing up into the midfield but their defender was given time and space to play a pass in behind him. At that point he should have been dropping off like the midfield and attack did.

I am sure they will get it sorted in time. It is just nerves for me. So silly mistakes creep in.}

2.) 01 Dec 2019 01:21:45
How many games ali will miss?

{Ed025's Note - just 1 i think..

3.) 30 Nov 2019 22:21:19
Ed001, I totally agree and it was 100% evident when we sat off Brighton today and to be fair, as I mentioned in a previous post, thought Brighton played really well through our press at times, they didn’t panic and just hoof the ball from the back. They also played some nice intricate passing in our final third, luckily for us their finishing was woeful!

We looked a bit tired mate and I think that played a big part in us sitting back at times, squad rotation is going to be paramount throughout the month of Dec.

{Ed001's Note - Brighton are a good team and came to play, which is why we took the lead so easily. It is just a shame we stopped playing then.}

4.) 30 Nov 2019 23:54:52
Many thanks for the reply, Ed. I agree with you that the whole "game management/ control" schtick of the media may be affecting the way we approach games when we get a one or two goal lead and the RBL and today's game were 2 examples of that. Now, I will offer that IMO, we should be able to rest on the ball when we get say a two goal lead BUT even that did not work today cos we kept losing it due to poor decision making. Like you say, we are a front-foot team and are best when going at teams. We cannot play against our nature otherwise, we will keep having the issues we are having.

I will also offer that since the season began, we have not been as clinical as we need to be. Look at the amount of chances we created vs Leicester, Spurs and even today (in the first half) . We could have scored 4 in each of those games whereas we only "scrape" a 2-1 win in each. Anyone who did not watch these games would think they were even games YET they were games we ripped these teams to pieces in dominant performances (LC and Spurs esp. ) . We need to do better in this dept. as well, IMO.

{Ed001's Note - agreed.}

5.) 01 Dec 2019 08:53:46
Davy looked proper I must admit. Neat player there.

6.) 01 Dec 2019 12:29:42
Yes it’s worrying that we are conceding in nearly every game but the plus is that we are outscoring the opposition in every game. Under Rodgers we were conceding lots, then Klopp kept the defence tight but at times there were complaints we couldn’t break down the opposition defence. Well that doesn’t seem to be a problem now even when we aren’t at our free flowing best. As pointed out by Ed our problems seem to happen when we think we have the game won take the foot off the gas and allow the other team to have the ball. The last half hour was nervous watch yesterday even before the sending off as Brighton started playing good football and looked confident.

Ed’s any info on the new proposed planning application for the Anfield road end?

What capacity are they preferring?

Niall42

{Ed002's Note - I don't know - all they are going to do is make available some deigns and a model for the public (they need to get the local residents on their side, particularly after lying about the consultation process last time) to ponder. It will have trees on it and cheerful kiddies playing together and generally look attractive - unlike the reality. So then they need to go for outline planning permission and resolve issues arising. Then they would need to submit the formal planning application with the detailed design for approval - then they can decide when to start work. As an aside, when the plans were submitted for an update to one of the stands at Stamford Bridge about 25 years ago, it was noted that there was no way to get from the kitchens to the hospitality and boxes on the plans. They added a door.}

1.) 21 Nov 2019 11:56:18
Ok thanks Ed’s. hopefully both the residents and club can come to an amicable decision that suits both parties.

2.) 21 Nov 2019 12:26:45
Trees and kiddies playing. Hilarious and true.

Its like watching dream home when they do the house design. Outside the window is a lovely grass field yet in reality they are smack bang in the middle of a concrete jungle.

They should at least plant the trees.

3.) 21 Nov 2019 13:43:10
I think I read somewhere that they already have outline planning permission for the site, so I would assume the next big stage would be a detailed application, after the consultation period.

I work for my Council Planning Department (Not as a planner, but alongside the city planning team), so all this finally makes a little sense to me, but I've got no doubt there will be plenty of hoops to jump through and hitches in the road before any additional development happens, especially if the locals aren't onside.

{Ed002's Note - No. As I explained previously The AP have built a relationship with FSG and during one of the interviews it was explained that the outine planning approval would be allowed to elapse and the club would consider all options.}

4.) 21 Nov 2019 13:53:26
I’ve travelled to most major stadiums watching LFC away and most grounds aren’t in the best of areas let’s say - except Chelsea. I used to stay at the millennium hotel adjacent to Stamford bridge and it’s in a very very affluent area of west London.

Apparently the club has invited residents, local business etc to meetings regarding the proposed expansion of the Annie Road end, between 29th Nov and 4th Dec.

5.) 22 Nov 2019 14:04:55
I'm glad we didn't move stadium. I've said before the Beauty of Anfield is the surroundings, it's an intimidating place for the away lot especially nights. Most big clubs stadiums are like a family friendly retail park but Anfield there's no Nando's TGI's no bathroom shops or Car rental places. Combine that intimidation with Bus welcomes and a great Klopp team, it's no wonder Liverpool have the best home record across Europe.

6.) 22 Nov 2019 14:47:59
Company has just been asked for a proposal on the structure and microclimate wind loads, stand looks identical to the previous one upgraded ed025 you’ll be happy we completed the work on Everton’s stadium will be extremely windy expect a lot of random flags sculptures and canopy’s on it.

{Ed025's Note - the last thing we need at everton is more wind mate...but thanks for the update..

Ed’s, Ed2.
With the transfer window open in the not too distant future, coupled with the position in the league we find ourselves in, the momentum we have, the sheer volume of games coming up,
Do you expect any signings in January?
Is there a need to sign any players?
If yes where would you strengthen? And lastly, are we interested in signing any particular player?

Thanks in advance.

Niall42

{Ed002's Note -Putting aside the flurry of posts regarding the recruitment of Ryan Fraser, I am not aware of plans to buy in January. It is a difficult time to bring anyone in as clubs don’t want to let players go and end up searching for replacements. In terms of what is needed, I am not aware of departures so the club is likely in good shape. And all is going well so there is no need to rock the boat at all.}

1.) 11 Nov 2019 20:38:29
Thanks for the prompt and informative reply Ed. a lot of garbage being spoken on social media regarding Timo Werner etc.

If we can keep everyone relatively fit, we should be in great shape, plus Shaqiri still to come back.

{Ed002's Note - There is interest in Timo Werner from elsewhere but I am not aware of any approach from Liverpool - and I would expect him to shun interest from any sidee that would not have him as first pick - maybe Liverpool will sell the front three with Werner, Mbappe and Fraser joining the likes of Dybala, Pepe and Fekir at Liverpool?}

2.) 12 Nov 2019 04:20:14
Still think we in a very healthy position, kids are getting a fair bit of footie minutes, we win games and still have the likes of Ox, Gomes, and Naby coming back into the the team. If anything think our squad is a bit bloated. Ed's if I may ask, was this not thinking behind the lack of signing any 1st team starters by Klopp at the beginning of this season?

{Ed001's Note - in part.}

3.) 12 Nov 2019 09:32:17
Thanks on the response, hope you and your team are doing well. Keep up the great work.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome and you mate. Be glad when it is back to real footie though!}

4.) 12 Nov 2019 10:16:23
I think our main challenge for January is to get Keita Gomez ox and Shaqiri fit firing!

Coupled with a few opportunities for Brewster, Jones and elliot.

It is unnecessary to bring in players,

Ed2 any knowledge or opinion on the young Irish keeper at LFC?

I read a report a while ago that Klopp was quite amazed by him?

Ed’s when does his contract expire?

I presume concerted efforts are being made to extend his contract?

Personally from an uneducated opinion I imagine if he is winning league titles/ European cups he would extend by a year or two at the very least.?

Ed can you give us your opinion on Brewster? Strengths/ weaknesses.

What your expectations are of him for next season

Thanks.

Niall42

{Ed001's Note - there can be no expectations of him, he is recovering from a long term injury. As for strengths and weaknesses, I have not seen enough of him to judge.}
