This next two weeks is huge for us. Fingers crossed a resurgent Leicester and Southampton can help us out. We need to navigate Newcastle and Arsenal with 6 points going into the City game. With a slice of luck we could be a couple more points clear going to the Etihad. I wish we had Joe and Trent for City - I don’t fancy Millie against Cities wife men. Mind you, I suppose they have the same demanding schedule, COME ON REDS.

1.) 23 Dec 2018 22:13:55
I can't see Leicester doing us any favours. It looked like they we're smashed at Chelsea but somehow won.

2.) 24 Dec 2018 01:01:00
Who are Cities wife men? Perhaps I shouldn’t ask.

3.) 24 Dec 2018 09:43:19
Tottenham aren't far behind city they are a dark horse for the title race a team to keep an eye on.

4.) 24 Dec 2018 10:11:32
LiverpooFC08, they weren't smashed at Chelsea, IMO cos I actually watched the game. In fact, Chelsea could not lay a glove on them really tho they had a lot of possession (which means nothing if you can't do much with it which they didn't) . The only real chances they got was where Hazard hid the upright and Alonso (awful perf. from him) hit the post in stoppage time (no chance of him scoring cos Schmeichel gave him NO angle for a clean shot on target) . Even, Sarri was furious and worried with their abject performance. LC played a blinder and were unlucky not to put 3 past Chelsea. Just wanted to correct that record.

As per if Saints and LC will do us a favor, we need to focus on ourselves first and foremost. If we do our jobs for the next couple of games, we will be 4 points clear when we go to the Etihad. If we get help from elsewhere then, that should be a bonus and nothing more. Just my take.

5.) 24 Dec 2018 10:43:22
Completely agree Red Wolf, we should just focus on our own games. Anything that goes our way in other games is a bonus.

Regarding Salah, If you look at last season, It wasn’t unusual for him to miss a few sitters in a game before bagging a couple. I’d be a lot more worried if he wasn’t getting into the right positions. I was slightly surprised that Klopp took him off but I have absolutely no doubt that Mo will be banging them in again very soon, starting with City next Sunday.

Regarding Liverpool, i watched the game yesterday and felt pretty disappointed to be honest that we didn’t get all the points, Chelsea are a good side but it shows just how far we have come when we go to Stamford bridge and feel a bit gutted not to win. Finally, I’m starting to absolutely love Nabi Keita, he looks so rock solid and calm in possession, I think I’d like him to start against City, hard to drop anyone though to be fair though. Let’s give City a red storm next weekend again, before and during the game! YNWA.

Mrplums

1.) 01 Oct 2018 13:54:32
100% agree on all the above!

Especially the Keita comment, we know the damage chambo did last season as an agressive dynamic midfielder.

We don’t have that this season but in Naby we can try to cause the same problems for them.

I think same as the Chelsea game it won’t be easy but think we all have a potentially VERY entertaining game on our hands.

Hoping Salah chooses this game to find his rhythm again and goes goals frenzie.

Hi Ed’s

Is Emre Can our for the season? I thought he was going to come back for West Brom?

Ta.

{Ed002's Note - RTP.}

1.) 26 Apr 2018 14:08:59
He is out until mid May, unless he recovers in rapid time. He has played his last game for us.

26 Apr 2018 06:32:09
We need to approach the Roma game very very carefully. If we do t have that same energy in midfield they will do us. Too many peopl here assuming that we are in the final V Real Madrid.

It will be an entirely different game on Wednesday and I just hope the team are not as complacent as the fans are on here.

Mrplums

1.) 26 Apr 2018 07:58:33
Don't confuse optimism with arrogance buddy.

The fans are talking about the final because they are optimistic we can be there come the 26th. I've not seen anybody claim that we are already there, or that we can rest players against Roma, or that we can take it easy against them etc.

Everyone is fully aware the job is only half done, including the players. Don't worry about that mate. Just let our fans dream about something glorious. It's not their job to be professional. Let Klopp and the players worry about that.

We've not had anything to really dream about since 2013/ 14.

2.) 26 Apr 2018 08:20:59
I just hope all Liverpool fans going to that game stay safe! and we get the win we are all hoping and waiting for!

3.) 26 Apr 2018 08:47:38
I’ve read lots of ‘who would you rather play in the final? ’ and ‘Salah is going to destroy Marcello’ - As good as the performance was on Tuesday evening, Roma are more than capable of scoring 3 at home and we are more than capable of squandering massive leads.

I’m absolutely positive that Liverpool are in for a rocky night on Wednesday, we never do things the easy way. I think a few will be getting a bit of a shock if Roma bag a couple early doors. I really think we will score over there though, but nobody else has in Europ this season.

4.) 26 Apr 2018 09:04:43
Mrplums, I think we all know it won't be an easy night mate at this level of such a competition it'd be silly to think otherwise. But we'll do them, that I'm confident of. Can anybody really see them scoring 3 past us and us not scoring at all? I can't, we'll score at least 2, it's what our front 3 do for fun as we've seen all season. It'll be hard for us but it'll be a lot harder for Roma, they NEED at least 3 goals. Pressure is on for them.

5.) 26 Apr 2018 09:07:08
Those statements do seem to assume we will get there, but I'm sure those people are not suggesting we can be anything less than 100% against Roma, in Rome.

At the end of the day, the fans thoughts won't even make it to the players ears. They will be focused on Stoke right now.

6.) 26 Apr 2018 10:39:14
Roma will have to attack us next week which plays into our hands. we will have space to exploit and we will score. if we get 1 and they manage to get 4 well then they deserve to go through. I expect Klopp to have the boys mentally right for the game unlike Barcelona woulf like everyone bar Roma thought the tie was over and by the time they realised they had a game on their hands it was too late. from watching last nights game i fear none of them in the final because i guarntee Madrid/ Bayern will be hoping Roma get through because Liverpool are the most dangerous attacking side in Europe right now.
Also I must attempted I gave Henderson stick most weeks but lately he has been immense.

7.) 26 Apr 2018 18:58:37
MrPlums, chill out, MK is correct. Allow the fans to dream and be optimistic. If we can't do that now, when can you ever do that? Just enjoy what is happening in front of you cos for some of us, it is just breath-taking. Fans are allowed to enjoy it, man. No one is complacent. Everyone is optimistic and tho some may be a bit overboard, who cares man? We all know NOTHING comes easy. I mean, have you met LFC? It's what we do. Hendo and Klopp already sounded the battle cry right after the game in their pressers so the players, manager and majority of the fans are fully aware of the task at hand and will not be doing anything diff. from what they know how to do. Stoke is the next challenge and that is what ours and your focus should be, not Roma. We will deal with them later. We will be fine. YNWA!

Going back to the 2008/ 09 season Liverpool up to the 8th of April - Liverpool have had 28 penalties given against them. Chelsea have had 12.

12 - that’s just 12 pens in 9 seasons in the premier league.

How on earth do you work that out?

And you cannot say that the most attacking teams get the most pens. Liverpool have had 3 this season and we are probably the best attacking side in the league behind City. Palace have the most with 9 then Everton 8.
Make of this what you will but If you look at the stats I think refereeing has a massive part to play in the outcome of games. Liverpool have had the most given against us compared with all the so-called top 6 going back 10 years.

Yesterday was yet another example of refereeing costing us points. We have had 10 points taken away from us from the direct result of referring decisions this season, it’s impossible to calculate the indirect ones, free kick cos outside the box / 50/ 50 challenges but I suspect the stats aren’t in our favour. We had the rub in the Champions league v City without a doubt but I’m not holding my breath for a decision going out way in the premier league.

Mrplums

1.) 22 Apr 2018 07:50:04
Refereeing got us into the CL semi finals.

{Ed001's Note - did it? I thought the fact that they never registered a single shot on target in the first leg had a lot to do with it personally. And that they folded in the second half of the second as they ran out of legs also had a lot to do with it. Obviously I must have been mistaken that the better side, by a margin, went through because they were the better side.}

2.) 22 Apr 2018 07:57:13
That is singlehandedly the most foolish comment I have ever read on this great site
the fact we scored 5 and they scored one had no part right?
How do some people call themselves supporters is beyond me
support your team not spout silly comments c'mon it is easy to do.

3.) 22 Apr 2018 08:01:35
Hegazi and Dawson should both have been sent off for assaulting Ings off the ball.

4.) 22 Apr 2018 08:01:38
Utter nonsense.

5.) 22 Apr 2018 08:02:56
Faithinworks we won fair and square 5-1 over the two legs, that's not a bit of referee luck, we outplayed them, it had bugger all to do with refereeing, well maybe it did, we could've won by a larger margin should City of got the numerous red cards they deserved. We fully deserve to be in the semis and that's down to how the team performed.

6.) 22 Apr 2018 08:21:06
While I agree we outplayed City and fully deserved to go through, there were decisions that went against City. 2 offside goals disallowed incorrectly, but there was also Ederson who could have easily been sent off.
In terms of penalties, decisions can go against you or for you, and even if that's wrong, I enjoy it. It creates debate which makes football interesting.

{Ed001's Note - Otamendi could easily have been sent off as well, and their players made numerous, repeated, yellow card offence fouls that were not punished. The decisions were not in favour of Liverpool at all.}

7.) 22 Apr 2018 08:25:37
Faith, I love your posts normally, BUT here, you are talking utter nonsense. How on this earth do you reckon that we made the CL semis due to a ref decision in 180mins whereas City only registered ONE shot on target in open play in that time span? Did the refs give us the FIVE goals we scored vs them or did that all happen legally in open play? If any team has taken advantage of ref bias in the CL, it is Real and before them, Barca. Please, stop that crap ASAP. We won, fair and square and by the way, this is the PL, and not the CL.

8.) 22 Apr 2018 08:48:59
We lost yesterday to poor defending from set pieces once again and they caused us problems all afternoon with their crosses. Whilst I do agree Klopp’s rotation strategy has kept players fresh, for me, the back 4 needs to stay the same.

9.) 22 Apr 2018 09:07:43
When West Brom came from behind and beat us in the fa cup I bet that was because of the ref as well. Yes the ref was poor yesterday and got lots wrong but I can't remember him scoring 2 for West Brom or forcing us to defend like a Sunday league team. We didn't win, it happens. Let's not be that team that hide behind excuses all the time and let's just move onto the next game and put it right.

10.) 22 Apr 2018 09:48:40
Isn’t it ironic that we (English press and many fans) vehemently criticise a snubbed handshake, a complaint about a decision or a playing surface as a lack of class on one hand and yet applaud managers and teams that go out to purposely kick and injure the opposition? Perverted logic that.

11.) 22 Apr 2018 10:02:44
Did we lose yesterday. have I missed something?

12.) 22 Apr 2018 10:26:05
I was being facetious ed1.!

13.) 22 Apr 2018 11:51:06
Switching to being serious for a second - if someone can find the science that proves we are more. Hard done by than others then I'd love to read it! Until then, the ref thing is a factor but for me going to conspiracies starts to makes us sound a little sour grapes. I was joking about my the ref getting us thru to the semis, but ya'll must be joking if ya don't think we benefitted from some favorable calls. Take em and run I say. got to Suck em up at the other end tho.

14.) 22 Apr 2018 12:08:15
I’ve lost my faith in you good sir.

Pulisic is Anfield bound. I have heard it from someone at the top of the club. Chelsea are in decline and he wants Liverpool.

It just gets boring. It’s gone on for years. We all know the situation. It’s new to me that he has ‘resigned’. I thought they had a bust up and he walked out. I wasn’t aware that he ‘resigned’. I’m just sick of the constant baiting ed 1. It’s as if we are beneath ed 2 - as Liverpool fans, I see things for what they are and ed 2 never stops digging at us. I just took this as another one.

Ed 2 stirring the pot again.

Mrplums

{Ed001's Note - no, you are being a dick. Like I said, Klopp never wanted him gone, he chose to resign, what is the issue here that seems to be escaping you? The club are keeping the door open trying to resolve the issues. Ball is in Buvac's court and he has other offers.}

He certainly fits our criteria. As for replacing Firmino, this simply wouldn’t be the case, they would rotate, as do the midfield and defence. We should always look to improve and he looks a great addition. If Firmino is injured in the next game who starts up top? Ings and Solanke don’t cut the mustard for me. We definitely need more strength up front.

I play 5 a side and there is a very good player that we play against who scores for fun, he has trouble with his weight but otherwise I think he’d be pro and trust me, I know exactly what he’s going to do every time but stopping him doing it is all down to speed of thought and coordination, he’s simply faster than most. Salah is the fastest on the planet, along with Messi.
