Ed01. Is there anything in the Medel rumours. Lazy recycled journalism?

Cheers pal.

Mr. T

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, I will have to check, I would never take any notice without triple checking as he is one of my fave players.}

1.) 18 Jul 2016 19:55:41
I'd like this to happen if only to make an ed happy!

2.) 18 Jul 2016 20:34:21
Medel would be a quality signing. He's an utter nutter on the pitch, his aggression and commitment is fantastic. I remember his performance for Cardiff vs man city where he basically ran the show. He's a pivotal part of that great Chile team.

3.) 18 Jul 2016 20:40:03
i think he would be a great signing and upgrade on lucas. could cover for centre back position if opponent allow us, if we want better protection in away games he is the answer as he is not only good defender of the back 4,he is solid disturber of the ball, aggresive and good positioned. really like him as a player.

4.) 18 Jul 2016 21:09:09
I like the sound of can and Medel in the middle.

5.) 18 Jul 2016 21:38:24
Thanks ed01.

I remember you rating him a couple of seasons ago, has he performed in Italy? I believe that's where he went?

Let us know when you know buddy.

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - he certainly did in his first season, but I never followed his progress last season.}

6.) 18 Jul 2016 22:46:35
It makes more sense than signing this lad from Augsburg.
Medel is a very good midfielder as well as being a capable emergency centre back.

7.) 18 Jul 2016 22:17:54
Cheers buddy.

8.) 19 Jul 2016 01:07:36
Actually Ron, I'd say it makes more sense than Wijnaldum.

9.) 19 Jul 2016 01:50:43
Now this is a signing I'd love to see, but some how I don't see a deal happening.

10.) 19 Jul 2016 07:17:57
But why would we sign a DM when 99% of people on here said we don't need one? They're an irrelevant player according to most. There isn't a tougher tackler in the business so surely he would be a needless buy whom most would rather us do without?

{Ed001's Note - he is more than a defensive midfielder, he is a playmaker from deep.}

11.) 19 Jul 2016 07:51:35
Eds that doesn't stop the fact that DM, deep lying playmakers were all mentioned in the same breath with most saying they were nothing more than a modern fiction I think Ron called them. An uneccessary anacronism. Like you eds I like the guy and think his kind of player is what's been missing from our midfield. Plus he can play CB if needed. Just a shame everything points to it being untrue.

12.) 19 Jul 2016 12:08:38
Np I was one of the people I think you're inferring about. However my point anyway was there's no point having essentially a third cb playing in midfield who contributes only when we are without the ball. I would need a bit of convincing regards medel however he is certainly capable of starting attacks and making runs from deep to the edge of the box that results in goals for him also. He does while maintaining good positional discipline and would slot in a midfield 2.
This is completely different from say playing a midfield 3 where you have one basically playing as a free roaming cb who doesn't get on the ball much and doesn't contribute to an attack. This in my opinion is a waste of a player in a 11 where the 2 in front should be competent enough to not be baby sat through a game because they have no positional discipline when without the ball. Of course when you have a strong midfield 2 like this you can then field an extra winger/ attacking midfielder/ striker which should contribute more to the team as a whole.

Morning eds.

I really don't think we need to spend a massive amount in the summer - BR seems to have the gift of improving players and creating an atmosphere and team spirit that everyone believes in.

I think maybe a mobile, defensive minded midfielder, a left back and a left sided forward is what we will go for.

We have Suso to come back and Texeira will be a year older and from the little I've seen of him looks very promising.

Maybe the way for us is to promote from within, do what Barca have done. We have the coaches to do it now it seems.

Can't wait to see where we are in another 9 games time.

Question for eds,

Do you have any knowledge of what will happen regarding Johnson/Enrique next season?

Are they viewed as first team players for next year?

Cheers guys

Mr. T

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any plans at this time to sell Johnson or Enrique in the summer.}

1.) Ok. Cheers 02

2.) Don't think we need a defensive mid, we have gerrard and Lucas competing for one spot there now, I think an all round centre mid to compete for places with hendo and allen

3.) Do this mean you expect Johnson to be offered a new contract?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what the plans are about his contract.}

07 Dec 2013 23:40:02
Good 3 points today.

Malumbu of west brom looks decent.

Any teams interested in him eds?

Could be a clever purchase!

Onwards and upwards

Mr. T

{Ed001's Note - yes there has been a few times looked at him. Pulis wanted him for Stoke, Southampton considered him prior to the arrival of Wanyama.}

12 Aug 2013 10:39:06
Hi eds.
With Downing looking like he's off to West Ham, are we looking at replacing him? I know we have Sturridge and Aspas who are left sided right forwards but I thought Downing was a solid squad player. {Ed001's Note - we already have replaced him, we are looking for a left sided forward to allow Coutinho to play more central now.}

Mr. T

1.) Tom Ince will replace Downing, the fee will be £5.2M and wages of £30k.

2.) Tom Ince is a much better player than Downing, would love Ince to come in at that price, but I know he wants first team football. What do you think Eds?

3.) 12 Aug 2013 14:56:47
Ed's who is the replacement? don't tell me Aspas he not nearly quick enough to fly up and down the wings deffinate goal getter but not a wide player IMO. {Ed001's Note - Sterling, Ibe, Aspas are all in the squad as replacements.}

I'm not to sure of the formation today. Is Milner playing left wing back?

If so, why? We have Moreno on the bench and surely we'll need Milner mid week with Hendo out.

Strange one for me.

Mr. T

1.) 07 Apr 2018 12:06:23
Because Moreno is appalling and essentially equates to playing with 10 men. Milner has played 3 games a week throughout his career, he should be the least of anyone's concerns when it comes to injury or tiredness.

2.) 07 Apr 2018 12:25:23
Moreno injured, no longer on the bench.

03 Mar 2018 19:41:28
Thoroughly professional. I like that.

You reds!

Mr. T

1.) 03 Mar 2018 20:17:38
Great performance.
A lot of praise goes to Salah, Firmino and Mane.
I thought Robertson was the equal of them today, he has a great engine and never stopped hassling players.

Massive shout to Karius, he made one great save but THAT was a pivotal moment and he made a massive contribution to the win.

Man of the match for me though was the Ox. He played brilliantly.

2.) 03 Mar 2018 20:19:25
If karius decides to pull off saves like that and erase the mistakes I say let's save 40 odd million and develop him into the German keeper we deserve.

{Ed002's Note - You are not upset he didn’t catch it then?}

3.) 03 Mar 2018 20:22:12
The ox sure is getting a lot of motm medals. Did I mention he is my new favourite player. Coutinio broke down stubborn defences with his slick passing and long shots, the ox does it by driving forward and pulling the defenders off salah and co. Unselfish player who fits the modern cm position perfectly. I think klopp deserves some credit for spotting that when a lot of us, including me, doubted it.

4.) 03 Mar 2018 20:38:44
Thought robbo was poor on the ball again tbh. Can't fault his attitude though.

5.) 03 Mar 2018 20:41:21
Similar performance to last week versus the Hammers. What I liked most about today was, we weren't brilliant but when we gave possession away 2 players are right on it to get the ball back .

6.) 03 Mar 2018 20:41:34
How can anyone thumbs down that comment I made? Salah, I know we fell out about Gerrard and alonso but dude, it's about the debate and not about personal grudges. You don't think ox is a good cm for us? Or that he isn't getting a lot of motm nominations? Or that klopp deserves credit for spotting aoc can be a good cm for us?

7.) 03 Mar 2018 20:43:19
Apologies if it wasn't you salah. And I hope there are no hard feelings between us. There certainly are none from my end.

8.) 03 Mar 2018 20:48:17
Very professional performance, laced with patience, energy, speed of thought, and pivotal moments of brilliance in both boxes. Karius? Now, that is the best save I have seen an LFC player make this season, hands down. We actually now, have a GK who keeps us in games whether at 0-0 or at 1-0 and that is the THIRD PL game in a row he has done that for us where he has done that (vs Saints, WH and now, Newcastle) . Keep it up, man and job well done to the team, staff and fans at the stadium.

9.) 03 Mar 2018 20:58:21
Results over performance. Take that very good win into the next game. Let's hope city smash Chelsea.

10.) 03 Mar 2018 21:42:31
lol supersalah I can assure you I didn't thumbs down your comment, I barely use the feature.

11.) 03 Mar 2018 21:43:52
Sorry I clicked reply to early and no hard feelings here mate, it's all about opinions, you have yours I have mine :) life is too short SS!

12.) 03 Mar 2018 20:39:43
Eds2 more upset he didn't scorpion kick it away. DDG standard that save.

13.) 03 Mar 2018 21:12:40
that's a good one Ed.

14.) 03 Mar 2018 22:29:57
Is Salah having an argument with the Super version of himself?

15.) 03 Mar 2018 23:08:09
Good man salah, you seem like a nice lad, I'm glad we haven't fallen out. And tbf, alonso and gerrard, there wasn't much in it, tbh here is a case for either of them. Y. N. W. A.

16.) 04 Mar 2018 11:12:54
Nah no falling out ss :) sometimes we can be so passionate about a certain subject and typing online can be misinterpreted so easily, but it's all good mate :)

14 Feb 2018 18:43:00
I hope this is the back 5 that Klopp stays with for the remainder of the season now.

I don't mind TAA and Gomez sharing the RB position but the other 4 need to stay imo.

You reds!

Mr. T

06 Jan 2018 19:54:20
Should have been done in the summer.

If it was me I would rather stay with LFC until the summer and give everything to win the champions league (more chance than Barca, he's cup tied) and leave us in the top 4 - a hero, well kind of.

Mr. T

1.) 06 Jan 2018 20:05:54
well your a liverpool fan so yea, but if you played for say celta vigo and liverpool came in for you knowing in the summer they may look to someone else you would push for a move too.

2.) 06 Jan 2018 20:12:57
I agree but hey £146m should soften the blow. The trick will be to use the money wisely so that we recover and move forward. Good luck to him. La Liga medal coming up IF he can get in the team.
YNWA.

3.) 06 Jan 2018 20:27:12
Comparing Celta Vigo with Liverpool?
Interesting comparison that.

4.) 06 Jan 2018 21:12:23
I'm sure something could have been sorted regarding him signing for Barcelona but seeing the season out at Liverpool. The fact is he didn't want to. Says a lot about the player that in my opinion.

04 Jan 2018 22:06:45
So, top 4 is ours to lose now.

Let's see how big our balls really are!

Mr. T

1.) 04 Jan 2018 22:18:53
Still half a season left to play, Mr T. One game at a time.

2.) 04 Jan 2018 22:20:46
It will be very difficult. It is very tight between 2nd and 6th and we'll have to be close to perfect to get through.

All fingers crossed!

Lets hope we can avoid defeat to City next.

3.) 04 Jan 2018 22:33:08
Oh I agree it will be tough, we need a solid January on and off the field.

4.) 04 Jan 2018 22:38:40
Still points to be dropped by all the teams maybe not city though!

5.) 05 Jan 2018 00:43:16
We were in it when were trailing spurs by same margon, and we are just as much a chance of falling out of it now we've grpund our way past! . Still loads of games and points to play for!

6.) 05 Jan 2018 04:30:48
Balls as big as an Irish broads ass.

- Ralph Cifaretto.

7.) 05 Jan 2018 07:22:28
Balls to top 4! We’re still in 2 cup competitions.
We want Silverware! 🏆.

8.) 05 Jan 2018 10:44:37
Ashamed so many fans already throw in towel before we face Citeh.

I was just thinking that.

I'm pretty sure we still need a top quality keeper but jeez, if he keeps his form until the end of the season he won't harm his chances at all!

I agree with you ed01. I expected Klopp to strip the fat this summer and to build a quality first 11.

This GW transfer seriously scares me.

Newcastle paid what, £14m? Why are we willing to pay a reported £24m for someone we haven't even monitored? What did he do last year to warrant a move to us? I know he scored a few goals but like much of his teamates he went missing.

We still need to strengthen left back. If we start the season with Moreno after his performances last year, as highlighted in the Europa League final, I will be seriously disappointed in our Jurgen!

I hope he knows what he's doing.

Cheers.

He's miles away, simple as that. Not putting him down - but atm he isn't good enough.

I'm worried that he is starting in a must win game today! We are not set up to play for a draw so it's a massive game!

I think rangers could be a good career move for him. Playing in front of a massive crowd who expects goals every week will make him or break him.

I reckon Woodburn Will be at the top of his list - maybe try and entice Origi and Wilson and Klavan as well.

That's who I'd try and get if I were in his shoes!

Knowing what a player is going to do and having the ability to stop it are two different things.

Sometimes a player is that good you just can't stop them. Messi has been doing it for nearly 10 yrs and luckily for us Salah is getting to level - he's just too good for them!

Totally agree.

To be fair, I'm nervous when Matip plays next to anyone.
