i keep reading reports lfc are interested in Riyad Mahrez if pc goes. any truth in this?

Mr RED9

1.) 04 Jan 2018 16:36:17
Zero interest. It seems to be Lemar only at the minute.

2.) 04 Jan 2018 17:25:11
Lemar will not come to lfc nor mahrez. I think no more new arrival till summer even if pip goes.

3.) 04 Jan 2018 17:27:26
Its from twitter. Some guy called graeme kelly has had a few things right over the summer. He now reckons we will go for Mahrez as a replacement for now, and Lemar anyway in the summer. Mahrez makes sense because he would be eligible for CL. Definitely adds quality and a bit of magic. I don't know what to believe anyway, but I am a Mahrez fan for sure.

4.) 04 Jan 2018 17:31:01
My matet has just text me saying mahrez aswell. and looked at betting odds and we’ve gone from 10/ 1 to 2/ 1 faves . he’s a right winger tho so I don’t see it happening unless he plays midfield aswell. I’m stumped 🤔. I think we’re just linked with every tom dick and harry and is all just speculation. Would any of you be happy with mahrez?

5.) 04 Jan 2018 17:33:48
Even if your nickname is negative, I have to say that I am also thinking no one is joining, if Phil leaves. Would actually be pretty OK (my opinion, obviously) if we could get Keita in though, since we're lacking a number 8, been like that ever since Stevie left, I was hopeful Henderson could fill those shoes, but sadly that's not the case.

6.) 04 Jan 2018 17:40:04
I know that this may sound like heresy, but I'd have Berkley from Everton as the number 10 if and when Coutinho moves on.
It would never happen but I do like the player, and he'd be a cracking signing, for me.

{Ed025's Note - wow, he is a lazy little git with ideas above his station juicer, needs to get away from the city as his crew and hangers on are ruining his career mate..

7.) 04 Jan 2018 17:48:25
Mahrezs can have a bad attitude, but I'd take him. He could provide the magic when we need it, can play centrally or wide, and hoepfully klopp could sort him out.

8.) 04 Jan 2018 18:29:34
Another thing mahrez has won the premier league an was a key member in that squad he has vision pace technique an quality plus qualifys too play in champs league I think it's a smart move he is quite like benayoun was.

{Ed025's Note - like benayoun hailstones?...is that a plus or negative mate?..

9.) 04 Jan 2018 18:46:49
I wouldn’t look to bring in Mahrez and I don’t think Klopp would either, the only similar attribute to Coutinho he would bring is his poor attitude.

10.) 04 Jan 2018 18:51:50
Mahrez is bang average at best. Had one really good season and that’s it. Selling Coutinho and bringing in mediocrity like Mahrez would be typical of us.

11.) 04 Jan 2018 18:59:20
Mahrez is far from mediocre.

12.) 04 Jan 2018 19:02:28
Yeah our transfer dealings have been terrible the last couple of seasons, VVD, Keita, Ox, Salah, Mane, will this madness never end!

13.) 04 Jan 2018 19:31:07
Dennis, Mahrez is not mediocre lol!

I know he has struggled a bit since (not surprising in that Leicester team! ) but he is still the same lad who won player of the year and got 30+ goals and assists.

By definition, Mahrez cannot be mediocre. I think with some guidance he could be very useful.

Just look at how Salah has transformed this season in our system. The system a side plays is very important.

14.) 04 Jan 2018 19:32:18
Mahrez is like going back to Downing, Cole, Adam Etc. Simply not good enough.

15.) 04 Jan 2018 19:42:03
Navy, Salah isn’t comparable at all to Mahrez. Salah has had one bad period in his career at Chelsea. Other than that, he was and has always been a consistent and top notch player at Basle, Fiorentina and Roma. Mahrez has literally had one really good season and that’s it. He simply is not good enough to replace Coutinho and would be a massive waste of money.

16.) 04 Jan 2018 20:00:04
Mahrez is quality that’s not opinion that’s fact. One of the best dribblers in league, can pull some great tricks out of the hat and would help regain some of those long distance goals. At we will lose with Coutinho going. He’d probably be far cheaper than most other options, he’s far better than Lanzini. The only issues would be where would he play? Can we put it in his contract that he sorts his hair out?

17.) 04 Jan 2018 20:15:43
Being better than Lanzini is not a reason to sign a player. We’re talking about replacing one of most effective attacking midfielders in the league with a hit and miss winger who is not a top class player by any stretch, he’s an average premier league player who has not been consistent during his career and would represent one of the worst ways to spend money since we offered Newcastle £35m for Carroll. It’s Deja vu, we seem to do this every time we sell a top player for stupid money. The process is sell top class player (Torres, Suarez, Coutinho and Stirling to a degree), then over pay on an average player and hope for the best (See Carroll, Markovic, Balotelli Etc) .

18.) 04 Jan 2018 20:27:50
I’m pretty sure average players don’t win the PFA player of the year award. If Klopp wants him that’s good enough for me.

19.) 04 Jan 2018 20:42:27
Personally I don't think Mahrez can fill Coutinho's magic boots but Klopp has steered us true so far.

Trust him completely.

20.) 04 Jan 2018 20:50:37
What is the point of keeping a player who doesn't want to play for the club? . As for mahrez being average lmao do me a favour Dennis.
Coutinho is a very good player but not bigger than the club an if he stays could cause problems in the dressing room. Whether we go for lemar or mahrez one thing is for sure they will at least want to play for the Red shirt not throw their dummy out an fake injuries.

21.) 04 Jan 2018 20:52:34
Mahrez can dribble, score, find a pass, some of you are even comparing him to downing? Barring a poor attitude (which mane is guilty of prior to joining) he’s a great player. I would rather have Lemar but barring Lemar Mahrez is better and more realistic than what a lot of you have suggested. Lanzini? Barkley? Mahrez is a class above.

22.) 04 Jan 2018 21:21:08
If we plan on playing 3 rw then mahrez would be perfect.

23.) 04 Jan 2018 22:37:25
Loved our Yossi Ed25 😎.

24.) 04 Jan 2018 23:33:01
Hahaha ed mate get ya blue tinted shades off Yossi was sound for us an definitely for West ham an in Spain I am sure a lot of our fans have a soft spot for him.

{Ed025's Note - i was never a fan to be honest hailstones, a poor mans peter beardsley for me mate..

03 Mar 2017 16:49:44
hi edds any truth in the saudi investing in lfc just read on the echo or is it just recyle news thanks.

Mr RED9

{Ed025's Note - its just guessing at the moment mr red..

1.) 03 Mar 2017 17:10:44
More to do with new balence than to do with Liverpool football club.

2.) 03 Mar 2017 17:14:47
According to macca who everyone brown noses a new take over deal was just around the corner oh what 12 months ago? Must've fell through at the last minute .

3.) 03 Mar 2017 17:50:03
Don't be a tit, Jezza.

The majority of people on here would rather have Macca's insights than not.

If you don't like them, don't read them!

4.) 03 Mar 2017 18:37:28
Crawl out lads he's posted about 3 times in 2 years when we've made about 25 signings and sold 40 players. And when he does post it's usually wrong lately gotze, takeover etc etc.

5.) 03 Mar 2017 20:05:42
They are investing in New Balance and no direct investment in the club. It could be a type of investment, our deal with New Balance is coming up. They could invest heavily in New Balance and redirect the funds heavily into LFC. Similar to what City do with Etihad.

6.) 03 Mar 2017 19:48:28
The Saudis are investing in New Balance, fine. But what has it got to do with Liverpool? Doesn't New Balance sponsor Seville and Celtic too? Why would liverpool have to play Al Nassr as part of that deal? Nothing is clear cut so far.

7.) 03 Mar 2017 23:31:55
K_g I suppose anfield is a more iconic back drop/ venue for signing a deal. Already brought publicity due to (no doubt erroneous) speculation.

{Ed007's Note - More iconic than what? Careful now lol this could be a yellow card offence ;-)

8.) 03 Mar 2017 23:52:24
Ha ha eds, sorry mate. perhaps it is a more famous venue in the Saudi area is all I meant! Celtic park is of course iconic in it's self!

{Ed007's Note - Well saved buddy lol.

I'm winding you up btw before everyone goes into full meltdown mode! I'm lying in bed watching repeats of Family Guy while the Mrs lies next to me like a snorting hog because she starts work at 6. See it's not all rock n roll being an Ed, all the glitz and glamour parties and debauchery isn't as regular as an occurrence as you all think.}

9.) 04 Mar 2017 00:09:12
Love a bit of family guy, I think Stewie is probably my favourite character, sounds exactly like gyles brandreth.

{Ed007's Note - So he does lol I've never noticed that before. It does my nut in looking for stuff to watch late at night (no sniggering at the back there btw) but even on Netflix you just get overloaded with things you want to watch at some point but we'll see what else is there.
I worry all day about what I'm going to watch that night in bed and end up sitting shouting at the TV about 3 a.m. to leave me alone and just let me pick something. And I always end up watching the Irvine Welsh film Filth over and over for some strange reason......

Mr RED9

{Ed002's Note - To replace?}

1.) 22 Jul 2018 10:53:42
Fekir ed! Heard we are also looking for someone to replace Lemar too, when he didn’t show up on the 1st July!

2.) 22 Jul 2018 14:11:08
We’ve fined both lemar and Fekir 2 weeks wages though 👍.

09 Jun 2017 19:17:43
question for square tomato if arround if not any edds any news on joe gomez i heard a rumour bournemouth and brighton looking to sign him hope not and if they are a loan any news.

Mr RED9

1.) 09 Jun 2017 19:47:52
Is Joe gomez literally all that square tomato knows about hahahaha.

2.) 09 Jun 2017 20:05:57
I'd happily let him go to either club on loan. Especially if we do sign a new centre back. A years experience in prem would do him a world of good.

3.) 09 Jun 2017 20:40:31
I would play him at left back if no left full can be found and Milner on the right and I bet there would be a huge improvement instantly, livened has improved immensely over the last 9 months and MARIO can only get better in my opinion, there should be more emphasis on a potential for a backup to Henderson ( I know can can do the job) but he can be utilised better a little more in a further position in the midfield with wini on the right and counts on the left and then firming on the left, mane on the right and why not through Solanke into the heat for the 1st 3-4 games up front and see how he works out. There's plenty of preseason to work on that with the current squad as is if we cannot bring in any other players just a tweet here and there and some grit determination and fight in their bellies and you never know that might just click.

Oh by the way I would make Karius our no1 as I consider him our best keeper in the squad not matter how much kings has improved he will always be a liability but can accept the reasoning klipperty came to after the barrage of abuse the poor kid received when he arrived which was very very unfair in my opinion.

I know there's loads out there who will berate me for this but have a good think about what I have mentioned and tell me if we had those players in those positions last season would be have actually being a real contender come the end of the season?

Maybe!

4.) 09 Jun 2017 21:08:06
Some strange points and then, just to cap it all off, you throw Karius into the hat as number 1. Not going to happen.

5.) 10 Jun 2017 00:34:10
I think Gomez could be used as back up for LB as he did a good job there two seasons ago, or if we need to play defensively (as if that ever happens) . Milner back up RB for me also.

6.) 10 Jun 2017 09:22:49
Just out of honest interest, savvyone, on what basis do you believe Karius is the better keeper?

7.) 10 Jun 2017 18:53:01
Can you think of a better keeper on the books other than migs? Really he had a decent run in at the end of the season granted but it was the fans that put pressure and very unfair criticism of Karius on him, totally unwarranted. How many games over the years has migs cost us, c'mon be honest. migs can't kick a ball never mind catch one he would be better at catching a cold.

hi is there any intrest in ...

Mr RED9

{Ed002's Note - You are on the wrong page - this is the Liverpool page.}

1.) 10 Mar 2017 16:35:17
hi ed002 i meant from lfc.

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to answer random questions about interest in players.}

08 Nov 2016 10:09:20
hi edds any news on stevie gerrard seen reports linking him to celtic and was wondering if lfc would offer him some sort of coaching role we know he hasn't got the legs to carry on but he's a lfc legend any views on this edds.

Mr RED9

{Ed001's Note - what on earth do we want him back at the club for? He has not proven himself to be a quality coach, like he did as a player, so what need to we have for him? He needs to go and learn the role first, before we should even consider him. He was a disruptive influence in his later years as a player, he should be kept well clear until he has seen what life is like on the other side, away from his pampered existence. Then we can see if he has the talent off the pitch he had on it.}

1.) 08 Nov 2016 10:26:59
Not sure if his other mentors would take him back, Rafa and Brendan? Hell No.

2.) 08 Nov 2016 11:24:30
Ed01 what do you think about the comments made in the media a while back that the FA need to keep hold and fast track former top players into coaching. I found the comments pretty laughable considering the main reason put forward that this would be good, is because their experience of playing at the top would translate to them being top coaches. This must be a kick in the teeth for any aspiring coach who has worked hard but is overlooked just because he/ she didn't play the game at a high level. Why should former player be fast-tracked just because they played the game, it doesn't make them any better at coaching than someone who hasn't.

{Ed001's Note - it is just stupidity from media morons with no idea what they are talking about. 99% of the best coaches in every sport have never been high level at the sport they coach in. The skillsets are completely different. Just fast track the best coaches, the best players do not need fast tracking.}

3.) 08 Nov 2016 11:49:55
I agree, wasn't Arrigo Sacchi a shoemaker or something before he was appointed the manager of Milan?

{Ed001's Note - I think he was a shoe salesman, prior to managing. Hence his quote about not realising you needed to be a horse first before you could become a jockey.}

4.) 08 Nov 2016 13:12:35
By the way, slightly off topic, what did/ do you think of Sacchi? People in England never seem to put him among the best managers ever.

5.) 08 Nov 2016 13:33:03
Wenger was an electrical engineer i think.

6.) 08 Nov 2016 19:01:48
What?
Sacchi? Not one of the top coaches?
Have you been talking to leek?

Sacchi is easily one of the best ever IMO.

7.) 08 Nov 2016 20:03:47
Geez he wins the Champions League twice, takes Italy to World Cup final for first time in 20 years (with a team that was considered weak), innovates in a league which was a byword for conservatism and yet isn't considered one of the greats. i'm not sure why not. His Milan side were fantastic.

8.) 08 Nov 2016 20:19:16
Wenger actually tried to play football at AS Nancy but was not good at it so he did try to be a footballer. As for the great Arrigo Sacchi, if you want to know how good he was as a manager, look no further than to Jeugen Klopp as Klopp himself, stated in an interview, that Sacchi along with Wolfgang Frank (his Mainz coach and a Sacchi disciple) are his two footballing and managerial idols.

9.) 08 Nov 2016 22:04:11
Ed, I couldn't agree with you more.

10.) 08 Nov 2016 22:48:38
I didn't say I didn't think he was one of the best ever. I'm just wondering why public opinion in England never seem to class him with other greats.

19 Oct 2016 17:07:40
hi question for any edds if you have time to answer, do you think sakho will get back in klopps good books or is it a case of waiting for january and cutting ties he must be geting near match fit thanks edds you all do great work.

Mr RED9

{Ed001's Note - I expect him to leave.}

1.) 19 Oct 2016 17:28:57
many thanks for the reply edds.

2.) 19 Oct 2016 21:27:58
Is there any interest in him that you know of ed1/ 2? In my opinion he doesn't deserve another chance at Liverpool, his attitude for me has ruined that chance, sooner he's gone the better.

{Ed001's Note - his attitude has put off a few, such as Sunderland, that would have loved to take him. Though Sunderland are getting desperate, so maybe they will come back in for him.}

3.) 19 Oct 2016 22:45:13
Ed001 "Sunderland are getting desperate" - that would have to be an understatement:-)

4.) 19 Oct 2016 23:18:36
Thanks ed1, could you or ed2, if your available, see him moving on in January?

{Ed001's Note - hopefully, as it would be best for all parties concerned. Right now though, I think we will end up stuck with an unhappy, unwanted player until the summer.}

5.) 20 Oct 2016 02:11:55
Hope we can sell him and get niklas sule.

to be fair ben seems to have a bad attidue he doesn't run or get in good areas or control the opisions penalty box but then if your on 100 odd thousand a week best thing Liverpool could do is get shot and I doubt we would get anywere near enough what we paid for him and prob not even half of that.
