Evening Ed's

Any news on AOC? Do you expect Liverpool to bid for him? And do you know if he would prefer us rather than Chelsea?

Cheers for the great work and keeping my us updated.

McRed

{Ed025's Note - i cant see where he would fit in Mc so i would be surprised if he were to go to liverpool mate..

1.) 29 Aug 2017 21:42:01
My thoughts too. Can't see him wanting to sit on the bench.

Thanks a million 👍.

2.) 29 Aug 2017 22:15:11
He would prefer the Liverpool move but Liverpool have been told that Arsenal won't sell to us. Worth a shot with a £40m bid though surely. Can play multi positions, quick, good feet. Raw but Klopp moulds players as much as anyone else in the game.

3.) 29 Aug 2017 22:55:45
40 million for a player that's free next year is fecking madness. realistically worth 15.
It ain't monopoly money pal.

4.) 29 Aug 2017 23:01:05
Nah No smoke
Reckon £40m and 1😉.

5.) 29 Aug 2017 23:04:59
I cannot understand the obsession with 'the ox' I'd take a punt at ten million, last year of his contract, not really lived up to the hype, regardless of the inflated market he could be yours at the end of the year for free.

6.) 30 Aug 2017 08:31:48
So people are trying to convince us that Ox at 40m, someone who has scored 9 goals in 170 games is a good signing for LFC. Salah cost less than him and he has scored more than that in one season. So did Mane (cost less), Wiji (also cost less) also scored more than that in one season at Newcastle . Good luck with that, people.

7.) 30 Aug 2017 09:09:07
10 mil for a young England international.? Dream in. If he comes he is going to surprise people. He can beat a man and believe it or not, not all players have that ability.

I think it's pretty obvious to anyone who knows about football that it's not the arsenal players ability that is on question, it is their commitment. If he comes I bet he has you out of your seat regularly.

We all agree klopp ix a brilliant manager, right? So why are we doubting his opinion of the ox?

8.) 30 Aug 2017 09:24:34
Ox is only worth our bench. Also, people crying for another striker? After our top front 3 (firmino salah mane) we have solanke, sturridge and origi. I think most clubs would give their souls for that BENCH of strikers.

Lemar and VVD would make this the best transfer market in 20 years.

Klopp is King.

15 Jul 2017 11:14:26
Morning Ed's

Do you have any developing news on the Ox? What does the player want? New contract or a move to us?

Cheers.

McRed

{Ed001's Note - developing news? No.}

1.) 15 Jul 2017 12:15:41
He is developing.

{Ed001's Note - has he taken a job with Kodak?}

2.) 15 Jul 2017 13:36:32
He started shaving last year, and now frequents the singles night at the Grafton every Thursday

He does a mean "it's not unusual" by Tom Jones on the karaoke

I'd say he's nailed on.

3.) 15 Jul 2017 15:24:29
I don't understand the "negative" comments.

4.) 15 Jul 2017 18:54:17
Seriously though, where does he fit in? Oh yeah that's right, the bench. Sorry but the Ox just doesn't excite me whatsoever. If we sign him I will back him of course but do not even think about putting him in CM.
give me Grujic any day in that position.

5.) 16 Jul 2017 09:56:50
We don't need him. Would be a real waste of our money if we signed another player we don't need.

18 Jun 2017 22:52:50
Any news on the Ox ed's? Is he signing a new contract or looking to move?

McRed

{Ed025's Note - at this juncture it looks like he will stay with arsenal Mc..

1.) 18 Jun 2017 23:13:05
Hope he signs that new contract!

2.) 19 Jun 2017 13:00:19
Awesome news, thanks Ed025. ;)

3.) 19 Jun 2017 16:39:54
If he signs for us, Sturridge will be happy to have him for company.

Arsene Wenger might happily sell him to LFC and get out 4th place.

:-)

4.) 19 Jun 2017 21:30:31
Yeah, The Ox is the main reason Arsenal didn't finish in the top 4! GTFO! I don't particularly rate him very highly but he was one of their better players towards the end of the season. I think Wenger is the main problem at Arsenal not the players, they have tons of quality at Arsenal.

5.) 20 Jun 2017 13:28:13
Wen gers doubters at arsenal should be ashamed. He steered that club through a difficult time financially, new ground and that. Record breaking manager who turned down real madrid.

6.) 20 Jun 2017 16:48:39
Wenger has probably outstayed his time but having watched Arsenal a few times the laziness and what looked like couldn't give a fornication attitude of some of those quality players they have was every bit as much to blame for their position.

06 Jun 2017 11:38:47
The press association have said Southampton have asked the Premier League to investigate alleged illegal approach from Liverpool for VVD!

McRed

1.) 06 Jun 2017 12:02:34
Nothing will come of this.

They have done this before with Toby and are just trying to please there fans in thinking that there trying to keep him.

2.) 06 Jun 2017 12:06:43
Does this mean the "deal" is now in serious jeopardy? Or is it just Soton trying to wrestle back some fee control? What a pain!

{Ed001's Note - no way to be sure yet.}

3.) 06 Jun 2017 12:12:13
Liverpool contacted Southampton in March to ask for permission to talk to Van Dijk.

4.) 06 Jun 2017 12:31:33
I'm glad you are all so optimistic, it's not the first time we have been criticized for actions involving transfers.

5.) 06 Jun 2017 12:29:16
Have no other clubs talked to the player or his reps?

6.) 06 Jun 2017 12:45:19
BigD that can't be true if ed001 asserts we only started pursuing him until his agent approached us.

7.) 06 Jun 2017 12:53:10
EDs If they know VVD wants to leave for Liverpool and they are willing to accept the offer what do Southampton have to gain from this?

{Ed001's Note - stopping other clubs unsettling their players in future.}

8.) 06 Jun 2017 12:59:33
I'd be salty too if I was a feeder club like Southampton 😂.

9.) 06 Jun 2017 13:03:53
Ed, has the permission got to be in writing or would a verbal response be enough?

{Ed001's Note - verbal agreements are binding in law.}

10.) 06 Jun 2017 13:25:55
Robin in the Hood believe what you want, im just passing on info from several people. They tried the same tactics before so im not at all worried.

11.) 06 Jun 2017 13:30:32
At the very least, possibly best, case scenario, will this delay any pending deal a good while?

12.) 06 Jun 2017 13:23:11
Thanks Ed, I thought that too, but just needed confirmation.

13.) 06 Jun 2017 13:28:32
Seems a strange thing for Southampton to do ed, we must have an excellent relationship with them as we buy so many of their players, wouldn't Southampton reporting us muddy the waters a bit.

{Ed001's Note - we don't have an excellent relationship with them.}

14.) 06 Jun 2017 13:28:40
ED01 it was suggested that VVD's agent approached us and that we had no interest in signing a CB this summer but as the player was interested in joining then we have moved forward with this.

I am slightly confused and a little disappointed if we have not learnt from previous mistakes as we should of approached the club at that point.

Do you know anymore other than what the press are saying on it ED01?

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - not yet.}

15.) 06 Jun 2017 13:40:41
How can you prove a verbal agreement has been in place? I smell a rat.

16.) 06 Jun 2017 13:50:17
Can't believe we've been that stupid. Lfc lawyers would have been advising. Saints grasping at straws.

17.) 06 Jun 2017 14:42:13
Players have agents and if that is considered illegal then every club is liable.

18.) 06 Jun 2017 14:54:05
We either wanted a CB or we didn't. I can't believe that Klopp didn't want one but then suddenly said ' oh yeah we do that's a good idea ' just because vvd's agent says he wants to join.

{Ed025's Note - i think he read on here that you need one kimos.. :)

19.) 06 Jun 2017 16:36:52
Ha! If that's the case Ed then we can look forward to a whole new team!

{Ed025's Note - your right there mate..

20.) 06 Jun 2017 18:08:47
Yeah Ed0025 :)

21.) 07 Jun 2017 15:37:47
So basically they are saying we didn't ask permission to speak to vvd. but they gave permission to chelsea and city. So they basically saying he's for sale . once that decision is made it should be a free for all for any interested parties to speak to the player. what a rubbish rule. They just wanted a bidding war between city and Chelsea, vvd stated he wanted liverpool transfer and they've spat their dummy out. This is 50 million southampton. greedy sods.

28 Jan 2016 18:27:51
Evening Ed's

Danny Murphy has suggested that Gary Cahill would be an ideal signing for Liverpool. Do you know the situation regarding Cahill, is he wanting to leave Chelsea?

Cheers.

McRed

{Ed002's Note - You really need the Chelsea page for this but as Mr Murphy has suggested he might be a decent buy I will say a little perhaps. Firstly I don't know what the player wants but right now the interim manager is picking Kurt Zouma ahead of him. Whilst Chelsea are just about to sign a new centre back they have let one leave (who won't be coming back). As such it seems unlikely that Chelsea would want to sell in January but if an acceptable offer were made then the club would not stand in the way of the player if he wanted to leave. It is also fair to say two other things of note: (a) Chelsea are aware of another side who will look for a deal for Cahill in the coming days, (b) Liverpool are overrun with centre backs and looking to add Matip for next season - so an offer now is perhaps not a priority for them.}

1.) 28 Jan 2016 22:04:15
Whilst we may be awash with CBs how many of them are proven to that level and playing to the level we need. If Cahill were interested he'd be a good buy until we can settle longer term side.

2.) 28 Jan 2016 22:22:54
ed you say overrun with centre backs but i'd argue none of them are of good enough quality and we had to play consecutive games with a player being played out of position at CB (Lucas vs stoke and Enrique in fa cup) so we don't exactly have too many CB's, yes I know we were struck with a stupidly unlucky spell of injuries but i'd say that Sakho and Toure are now injury prone, caulkers gone at the end of the season (along with toure) and Lovren gets more than his fair share of injuries. Therefore if a CB of the quality and as proven as Cahill became available at a sensible price I would've thought it'd be a great deal for us and more beneficial than signing yet another attacking midfielder to be played out of position up front (Teixera)

{Ed002's Note - Lovren, Sakho, Skrtel, Toure, Caulker is overrun. Yes, they had to make do when folks were injured in a couple of games. Tough.}

3.) 28 Jan 2016 22:32:46
I see no point in signing him, never really been impressed by him, plus at 30 years old and on a whacking great salary (new contract only signed last year? ), would be a complete waste of money.

4.) 28 Jan 2016 23:24:12
Are there any positions we aren't "overrun" with players for? . its buy to improve not buy to bulk up, personally I think Cahill would be ideal, he has a desire to play and a desire to prove himself fit for an England shirt this summer.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has a massively bloated squad and a set of fans who don't appreciate any of them. The owners have provided funding for the marquee players demanded by the fans (Benteke being the latest) and still the fans bleat and moan like pre-pubescent girls. There is no winning as far as the club goes. Fans have jeered the team and a previous manager this season dragging down the team and demoralizing - and now months later they are looking for excuses for the new manager. The money has been borrowed creating significant debt - but the fans crave money to be spent not worry about who on - as long as it is lots of money. It is a sad indictment of the modern day football fan - and Liverpool is not the only club where this is happening we are seeing the same at Manchester United who now have the modern day toxic fan base of their own. Liverpool fans pretty much expect the players to all be changed in the summer for the German "superstars" they are holding their dicks over at the moment. Then we will be back to the usual cycle - debt, transition, excuses, transition, Stevie G comes out of prison and takes over as the manager, new players, more debt, transition, yadda, yadda, yadda.}

5.) 28 Jan 2016 23:56:18
Sorry Ed but it was Rodgers appalling tactics that dragged the team down. Had been like that for 18 months. Do agree that we don't need Cahill. considering that Lovren is close to fitness we'd be over run with centre backs.

6.) 29 Jan 2016 00:01:51
I would of said flicking instead of holding ed.

7.) 29 Jan 2016 00:09:18
I have to agree with you ed002: the same fans who harp on about there being a summer clear out will be the first to slag off any new arrivals as soon as we lose a game. Expectations are ludicrous and understanding is nonexistent.

8.) 29 Jan 2016 00:16:27
So true Ed002,I blame the Xbox and the football manager game they got for Xmas.

9.) 29 Jan 2016 01:37:55
..............cretinous post removed...............

{Ed002's Note - There is always one brain dead dumb fuck like you. And you do personify the moronic vegetable life that some football fans live. Just the knuckle dragging moron who wants to make it about someone else. Truly an embarrassment for Liverpool fans everywhere.}

10.) 29 Jan 2016 07:41:14
Not for one second do i think that Liverpool are buying players due to fan pressure. Nor have i heard Liverpool fans jeering players or even the manager. I think its too easy to lay the blame of everything wrong at Lfc at the feet of the fans. The fans don't pick the players or get taken in by 100 page dossiers. They might suggest players on here, but what do they know? They don't scout them and then massively over pay for them, only to be sold at a fraction of the cost. I would suggest the results demoralize the team, its all there for everyone to see. Maybe some discontent at Anfield, yes but jeering no. Show some clips of the fans jeering the ex manager and fans. Easy to say and harder to prove in my opinion. I have said this before but the issue with Lfc starts at the very top, starting with Fsg. If the don't make the right appointments then it has a ripple effect all the way thru the club. If they are buying players and sacking and indeed hiring managers then they are not such the great owners that you say they are. Hiring Dalglish on the fans advise and still buying players 5 years later to appease the fans as you suggest? There is your starting point. Cheers.

11.) 29 Jan 2016 14:13:14
Ed I agree that Liverpool is overloaded with players but that is only because year after year we overpay and buy average players who are not good enough then we are stuck with them because most teams won't pay what we need so we can at least redeem some money. Yes we want marquee signings but I can tell you the majority of the fans did not want Benteke, Balotelli, Borini, Carrol especially at the prices we paid. We moan because no one listens to what the fans want. Its not all spend spend spend we want value for money, a player that will earn his fee and huge salary. We spend huge amounts of money buying players that go out on loan and then spend more money on replacing them with players who are no better than what we allraedy had. Its a joke, our transfer committee is useless they are the ones putting the club into debt. The right players are out there at the right price for example Deli Ali, but no he was not worth the gamble but £20 mil on Markovic was. The transfer committee should all be sacked as they have not got a clue.

Rex.

{Ed002's Note - Obviously that isn't going to happen.}

Good morning Ed's, great job at calming everbodies passions!

Do you know of any goal keepers that we are looking at?

Cheers.

McRed

{Ed001's Note - this has been answered mate, repeatedly.}

1.) 07 Jan 2018 09:05:29
Jeez do people not read the posts.

31 Aug 2017 07:59:21
Morning Eds,

Is it possible that the deals for Coutinho, VVD and Lemar are all done but they save them for Deadline Day on Sky?

Good luck for today and rest up for January

Cheers.

McRed

{Ed001's Note - no one saves transfer business up for the benefit of Sly.}

1.) 31 Aug 2017 08:32:40
Ed01, wouldn't surprise me if they had. They would make deadline day a PPV event just to squeeze even more money and soul out of football 😂.

2.) 31 Aug 2017 08:35:41
Palm face emoji!

11 Aug 2017 20:03:25
Surely FSG won't go back on the statement and will force Coutinho to stay?

Why have Barcelona left it so late?!? Surely getting him in July would have given us a chance to replace?

No one wants to deprive him the chance to place for Barca, but they also have to respect our own interstes of replacing the little magician!

McRed

1.) 11 Aug 2017 20:14:37
Arguably bridges are being burned now, no point in keeping. Milk Barcelona for all they're worth and then move on to other targets.

2.) 11 Aug 2017 20:35:10
If he sulks. leave him to train on his own.
World Cup coming up. he won't sulk for long

But don't give in to him. Let him go next year.
We'll have Keita by then. twice the player!

{Ed002's Note - Doesn't have anything to do with the world cup. And it didn't take long to turn on him?}

3.) 11 Aug 2017 20:38:02
having thought about it all day, thought of nothing else, I think Licky has it best sorted, milk them, that 21 yrs old Asencio from Real Madrid, great player, has a 72 milion buy out clause, he would be my first choice,

4.) 11 Aug 2017 21:07:26
Isco for me pure quality but big ask getting him.

10 Aug 2017 22:02:05
Evening Ed's.

Was Rose ever considered as LB?

Cheers,

McRed

{Ed025's Note - not by liverpool Mc..

I'm sure rafa tried to sign him in his last season in charge of us.

1 year is a long time. Win the league and champions league he will be worth £200m.

Thanks for cheering us up Macca.

Getting VVD, Keita plus Coutinho staying would be a very successful transfer window. Oh and maybe the Ox too, just to annoy the gunners!

It's far too late in the transfer window to sell Coutinho! Especially Lallana being out for several months. There is no back up. If he goes we will struggling with the amount of games we have. Even with Gomez in exchange or Ox coming in, they both need time to settle. We can't let him go this window, January perhaps or next season!
Owners need to do what's best for the team, now the finances are stable!
After a great pre season, this would be a killer blow to the team!

Yes it's not the first time Migs has been caught off his line this season, I remember Oscar nearly catching him out at Chelsea. But I really thought Lovren had the chance to win that ball Ed, before Vardy could get a strike off. He could have shown a bit more desire and intent to win the ball and put it out of of play. Anyways let's hope Courtinho, Strurridge and Origi come back strong and stay fit for the rest of the season.

McRed

{Ed001's Note - Lovren was chasing the quickest player in the Prem, to be fair.}

It was a great strike by Vardy, however our defending for both goals were complete rubbish. The first one Lovren allowed too much room for Vardy to strike in the first instance. There was an opportunity for Lovren to challenge for the ball but decided to back off. Vardys interview after the game explained how he had seen Mignolet off his line all game! Not sure you can blame Mig for that with the defenders he has in front of him. As for the second, Sakho yet again allowed the ball to bounce and then Moreno (who had yet another dreadful game) stuck out a pathetic leg to block the shot which then defelected into Vardys path. Hopefully it won't be long until Flanagan is in the starting in that back four to tighten up things, and then the arrival of Coutinho, Sturridge and Origi should bring us the goals. Concentrate on the cups now and play, Brannagan, Stewart, Teixeira and Smith more often.

McRed

{Ed001's Note - you can blame Migs on that one, as soon as he realised he was not getting it, he should have been getting back on his line, not stood watching.}

Thanks for your opinion. I agree we are over run with attacking options and the squad is swelling, however we lack a fox in the box and making runs inbetween defenders. The Teixeira deal sounds very expensive and not necessary when we have Firmino, Lallana, and Coutinho, unless the latter is leaving in the summer! When Sturridge, Origi and Ings are back, they will provide this, we just have to be patient for their returns I guess!

McRed

{Ed001's Note - Remy is no 'fox in the box'.}

Thanks for the reply ed002, I think it would be important for Benteke to join the squad to integrate with players but understand how the jet lag may hinder the player. I'm guessing he may join them in Finland and away to Swindon.
Btw, our pre season games aren't exactly against quality teams. I would have thought we would have had a more competitive final pre season game!! What's your opinion on the pre season opposition?

McRed

{Ed002's Note - Typically the pre-season games are a mix of commitments that are paid for by sponsors etc. (for which many clubs including LFC get well paid), pre-season tournaments which are pretty meaningless and games which clubs throw second string players at. So some practice, a chance to try out new tactics and avoidance of injury.}
