Theres never going to be a statue of Jonjo Shelvey built at Anfield but after today perhaps a small porcelain figurine is in order?

As a united supporter, well done last night. Your list virgil doesn't include club work cups? Which technically is the most prestigious in club football of which we have 2 from the turn of the century. But your correct on a European level if that's as far reaching as you see the club you support.

2.) 15 Aug 2019 10:29:18
Would that be the club World Cup that United abandoned the FA cup for? To appease the plastic prawn sandwich brigade!

3.) 15 Aug 2019 10:35:40
Supasub, thanks for your graciousness. However, I will disagree with you here. I personally could not be arsed about the whole World Club Cup stuff cos well, other continents only started participating in it for about a decade now whereas, it has existed for decades before that with only the Libertadores and CL champions playing in it.

BUT pls, don't come on here and say it is the most prestigious club comp. just cos you've won it twice. That is just asanine. The Champions League is the biggest, most prestigious club comp. on earth. That is just a fact that is universally accepted. Peace and Love.

4.) 15 Aug 2019 11:40:57
I'm sure we have 6 European trophies this century.
Europa league x1
Champions league x2
Super Cup x3.

5.) 15 Aug 2019 14:42:21
Thanks for the reply Supasub. Im very far-reaching in supporting my club, i was just making a point about recent European competitions. Im sure you will be back this season to update us on how your Thursday night exploits in Europes secondary club competition are going.

Like Michael Owen and Coutinho, i think Harry may have chosen the wrong year to change allegiances.
Good to see Ol Big Ears back home again. Congrats to Klopp and the players and the fans that made it to Madrid. What a racket.
Lets talk about six, baby :)

{Ed0333's Note - Harry will be back mate I guarantee it.

1.) 02 Jun 2019 10:36:40
Although I liked some of the amusement from Harry he can lay in the bed he made for himself. At least if he wants to go to any city home games he can take his pick from all the empty seats. Should be good viewing atleast😉.

2.) 02 Jun 2019 09:58:10
Spot on, Ed0333. A true bandwagon fan if ever I have seen one.

3.) 03 Jun 2019 11:53:51
Not to mention Can. Mist be gutted.

Its interesting the difference of sentiment towards Mignolet and Karius. In most fans eyes, both have under-performed and are not of a high enough standard to be playing for Liverpool.

Migs has had 6 years at Liverpool but is remembered more for his errors than his earlier man-of-the-match performances. Personally, i remember a few decent matches between the sticks and a few penalty saves, as well as his well-documented flaws. He kept more clean sheets in the PL 2015 than any other keeper yet he is remembered as a poor No.1.
Karius had a couple of seasons in the first team where i cannot remember him putting in any outstanding performances. He was solid and unspectacular but quite beatable. He was supposed to be an upgrade on Migs and the fans spent match after match waiting for him to shine. The CL final was simply an aberration of errors and not really indicative of his abilities as he is a lot better than that game suggests.

Neither keeper is good enough to challenge Allisson IMO but its curious that Migs has become a pariah and a figure of ridicule by the fans who can't wait to see the back of him. Karius, however, attracts more sentimental comments wishing him the best with his career (away from Liverpool) and hope that he can master his trade one day and become a top keeper.

Maybe its because he is younger than Migs? Or perhaps people feel less inclined to criticise harshly someone who failed so publicly on the biggest stage? Maybe its just that Migs spent longer as first choice and eroded the fans patience?
Either way, Mignolet seems to be the most criticised LFC player of the last 5 years despite the fact that his record was not too bad.

This isn't a defence or criticism of either player - they are peas in a pod to me - i just find the difference in fans attitudes towards them fascinating. People will disagree (especially Ed001, im sure) but IMO both are decent enough keepers of a similar ability who would do fine at the likes of Fulham or Stoke.
If either leave the club this summer, i hope they both go on to successful careers.

{Ed001's Note - you are obviously forgetting that most of the pens Migs saved he gave away stupidly in the first place. I have never seen a man concede so many shots that I would have bet on myself to save, yet manage to find 2 Premier League teams stupid enough to buy him.

His footwork is abysmal, as his is distribution, shot stopping, control of the area and positioning. There is not one area of the game he excels in. He is simply not good enough to be a professional keeper. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of good saves he made in his entire Liverpool career.}

1.) 01 Mar 2019 04:44:24
Yeah maybe the longer he stayed maybe a reason. When Migs name comes across, I can remember his penalty save against Stoke and his very good performance towards fag end of the season to secure CL place under Klopp era.

{Ed001's Note - I think it is more because Migs was just not good enough, while Karius came in and fell apart under the pressure, but might (and I do mean might) have been a lot better than he showed. Though I am surprised either are seen in that good a light considering the attitude both showed. Mignolet constantly demanding to be first choice despite failing miserably and Karius was only interested in becoming a brand. The club will be better off with them both gone and replaced with decent keepers.}

2.) 01 Mar 2019 05:13:11
Thanks for the reply, Ed. As i said, i wasnt defending either of them but agree with you that neither are at the standard we need.

{Ed001's Note - I know that mate, I wasn't suggesting you were, I was just pointing out that for each good thing Migs did he made 100 errors to cancel it out. Do you remember his run of conceding the first shot on target in a match? He set a Premier League record if I remember correctly. A hell of a lot of those shots were easily saveable. Karius never really spent long enough in nets to build up that history of constantly failing. When he did, there was always a decent excuse for him, such as concussion, to see him given the benefit of the doubt by some.}

3.) 01 Mar 2019 05:47:26
Migs was signed by Brendan and Karius came under klopp. And with klopp couldn’t do any wrong, Karius gets the benifit of the doubt 😂😂. Both are out of their depth. Karius single handedly cost us CL. And Mignolet has been a poor keeper from day one.

4.) 01 Mar 2019 06:38:17
Never rated either of them. I can spot a good keeper easier than any other position.

5.) 01 Mar 2019 06:50:27
Migs has never looked good enough for a title challenge and has consistently conceded goals a top keeper shouldn’t. I think he just gets so much stick because he’s been around so long when it was always clear he wasn’t the answer.

Karius is an enigma, he brought a new found confidence to the team when he came in, and despite one or two mistakes, was generally much better for the team. Until of course the CL final.

I think he gets a lot more sympathy because most people can feel his pain of failing so spectacularly on the big stage, plus he gets the benefit of the doubt from the concussion, and it’s not so clear he was inevitably going to fail if it weren’t for that game.

Either way, I’m so glad we went for Alisson!

6.) 01 Mar 2019 06:55:32
With Allison in goal it high lights how much a good keeper can help the team alround. Mig and Karius were not good enough and we would not be pushing for the title with either in goal.

7.) 01 Mar 2019 07:05:25
I think while both had poor runs in terms of shot saved, it is the confidence and distribution of Karius that sees fans as more accepting of him. Add to that the Mignolet failed at scale and over a prolonged period.

8.) 01 Mar 2019 07:25:46
my favorite mignolet-related memory was when G. Neville was giving goalkeeper tips on MNF haha that episode was hilarious and seeing G. Neville crouching down to make his point. hahaha good stuff Migs!

9.) 01 Mar 2019 07:32:04
I still remember migs going to clear a ball rolling across goal, but taking so long (under no pressure) it went out for a corner. The guy literally took about 10 seconds to make up his mind.

10.) 01 Mar 2019 07:41:33
Karius was younger, cost half as much and CL final aside looked a steadier keeper though no world beater. We thought he had potential to improve ( he likely will still) Mignolet never improved in his time here. That’s why fans got so frustrated with him. If anything he got worse over time and still has the arrogance to think he should be number 1. He thought the same of the Belgium national team too, I’m not a huge fan of courthois but Migs is delusional if he thinks any manager would pick him over courthois.

11.) 01 Mar 2019 10:44:47
Mignolet is crap and that's as simple as it gets for me, he should never be a keeper in the Premier league. Karius, personally I liked him but he's nowhere even close to Alissons level, I wish him the best of luck for the future but his future wasn't meant to be at Liverpool.

All I'll say right now is thank god for Alisson because he's, in my opinion THE most important player in the team. He's made so much of a difference its unreal, he's unreal and for me currently the best keeper in the world.

12.) 01 Mar 2019 10:56:15
Never seen a goal keeper concede a corner from a goal kick until karius did it. I hate the way migs sits on the bench with that sulky look on his face. Even when we're 3 0 up. You know he's hoping Alison gets injured. He looks at the back of klopps head like he's trying to melt his brain with his lazor vision.

The only good thing I can say about migs is he did put in a couple of decent performances to see us finish 4th above arsenal and make European cup.

Karius never did anything of note except drive about with lk1 on his number plate. Perhaps apt as he was bloody lucky to play for Liverpool. I don't buy the concussion thing. He was alert enough to try and take the piss out of benzema, just not talented enough to pull it off. He is arrogant and it cost us the big one. Who knows when we will next be in the ucl final.

Neither was good enough to play at the highest level. I wish them luck (they'll need it) but I hope to god they never play for Liverpool again. Much rather give the young goal keepers a shot.

Your first paragraph is a perfect example of what i was posting about, Salah 😂😂😂.

Any chance that the potential signing will have two arms and two legs and be able to kick round things?

Just because Firmino didn't have the best season, doesn't mean he's not our most important player. The space he creates, the defending from the front, the interaction with Mane and Salah, the unpredictability of his passing and movement.
He didn't play in our biggest games but i would suggest we would have stuffed Spurs by a greater margin if we had a fully fit Bobby playing the full 90.

Sorry to piss on some fires but there's a fine line between belief and hyperbole. Weve won two proper trophies in a decade. Our recent results have been excellent but, like Robbiesline said, it means very little without silverware. We could win the treble this season or we could win absolutely FA. Right now we have phenomenal potential and a very bright looking future but until we have the success of previous Arsenal, Man U and Chelsea teams i don't see any comparisons.

I agree, Robbiesline, eleven new players and a different manager and they would have every chance of top 8 at the end of the season.
