Edds/ Reds question I've been wondering about for a bit when clubs are relegated from the prem the get a balloon payment to help with the reduction in monies. Using Newcastle for instance they have sold from my knowledge two players for 40+ million pounds does this reduce the balloon payments or do they still get what they are entitled to asking only as this puts them financially better off than any other team in the championship? Hope its clear what i'm asking. Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - The parachute payments are made for up to three years (unless the club was only in the PL for a year in which case they will only get one years worth), and they stop if they return before the three years is up. The payments are a sliding scale and are not impacted by any sales the club will make. I am not sure of the final figures but these are going to be in the ballpark - and taking your example of Newcastle, they will get: (a) 216/17: circa £0M, (b) 2017/18: circa £30M, and (c) circa £15M.

So if the club return to the PL at the end of next season, they will not get payment (c). Selling players has no impact on these payments, which are their to compensate for the lack of television and media income.

Aston Villa will get the same, but Norwich only a single £40M payment.}

Looks like we were beaten by a very good team Sevilla, also anyone think Klopp showcasing Rogers team and how he tried his best to get them winning but showing we need quality not quantity. love the fact that we have a season just focusing on the league to go for let's do it new stadium stand bigger support better noise Come onyou reds.

1.) 22 May 2016 22:35:46
Sevilla have always been a very capable side. Especially in cup competitions where they thrive the most. I think we all, us Liverpool fans, just thought that the Europa League would be ours after beating Dortmund and Vilarreal. We never even contemplated losing.

But Sevilla tore us apart in the second half and are really pushing Barcelona to their limit. They are a great team with an even better manager, in my opinion.

Unai Emery has really shown his qualities and if these rumours that he is going to join Everton are true then Everton have struck gold.

However, this Barcelona match also shows how far Liverpool have come. Now don't get me wrong, our side is really weak and in need of better players. But the fact that we made it to the Europa final beat teams like Dortmund and Vilarreal (Who are placed higher than Sevilla in the league) goes to show how much Klopp has improved us.

I feel a lot better about our situation having watched this match. Barcelona are struggling to even score against Sevilla, despite having Messi, Suarez and Neymar. but we managed it. Yes, we conceded 3 and lost the game but our defensive frailities can be refined through training sessions and by acquiring the right players.

Things are looking up and I hope, without Europa obligations, we can trim the squad significantly and play our best players every week. We will push for the top of the League and get our just rewards; a Champions League place.

YNWA.

Is that you ken?

If so, please get the pants out next season.

3.) 22 May 2016 23:03:50
Massive clap on the back mate. That has to be the best post I've seen on here in a long time. You have exactly summed up where we are, where we're going and what we need. Brilliant post mate.

4.) 23 May 2016 08:15:50
Sorry Zed not sure who Ken is I choose Kenguero as back when we all thought Kun aguero was signing someone spelt it wrong and i remembered that name when I signed in to have an account.

5.) 23 May 2016 11:44:54
No worries mate, there was a Ken Aguero posting a couple of seasons ago, and he always wore his lucky pants during the run to the *almost* title in 13/ 14. Keane his pants stopped posting, and we stopped challenging! I know I'm not the only one hoping we hear back from him soon!

Clearly not that many posters remember, judging by the disagrees to my post, lol!

6.) 23 May 2016 13:17:04
I remember him. I wish we had his pants and Ed001 brother in law together for the Sevilla final, we would have won surely.
May be I missed something from my match day routine. Could be my fault we lost.

Eds/ reds just a silly statement. If we want Teixeira that much what's his value in the summer pay it now then loan him to shaktar till the summer so we are guaranteed the player if we are that deperate to get him? But more importantly ship a load of rubbish out Enrique, skrtl, benteke and Sinclair.

{Ed001's Note - maybe we didn't to spend so much unless we could have him straight away.}

1.) 01 Feb 2016 11:20:34
For some reason I don't think he's Klopp's #1 target.
I think we put a sensible bid in for him, it failed and we won't return in the summer.
I think we chanced our arm with the bids but we don't want him enough to enter a bidding war.

2.) 01 Feb 2016 11:25:27
The club doesn't have the money Shakthar demanded, While the case with Chelsea was different, they did not value the player for the money Shakthar demanded.

3.) 01 Feb 2016 13:55:18
If other clubs think he isn`t worht it, that tells me that we should walk away and I`m glad we did.

Just going to say regardless of the result all played great never played together properly as a team but brilliant. Brannagan great stewart great smith to excited needs to calm down caulker really good. Like it.

1.) 30 Jan 2016 19:28:47
Not sure what the exctiement is about really. It was a quality of league 1 game with glimpses of mid table Championship one. Given how awful we look in the last third you just wonder if the criteria to recruit players for LFC is inablity to score goals under any condition. This wastefulness is just spreading across all our squad regardless which team we put on the pitch. Benteke and Mings are getting worse with every game but none of the starting 11 today other than Clyne and Smith just maybe just, are good enough to play in any PL side let alone Liverpool. At least we didn't lose again.

2.) 30 Jan 2016 20:48:52
Fanobip these young lads haven't played together before yet played some decent football and dominated the game. Add coutinho in for ibe sturridge in for benteke there would have been certainly some goals today. We need to start getting them integrated into the team.

3.) 30 Jan 2016 22:23:51
I really think these lads are decent Stewart played well Brannagan composed teixeira skilful your forgetting that was a west ham team at full strength who has beaten us twice already. Praet rave reviews did he play tonight these kids as there known as nulled him even caulker played well. let's see positives rather than we didn't win.

Thank you NicklsARed. But i stand corrected i should of used the full name Teixeira. i'd take Texas pete if he can defend a corner.

{Ed002's Note - Perhaps you should also check the pronounciation.}

{Ed002's Note - Who is this "Tex" - Bozo Texino? Some Texan Liverpool are looking to sign?}

From a very good source. My aunties uncles milkman who retired 20 yrs ago whilst doing his final deliver swears he has just seen none other than Suarez stepping out of John Lennon airport this morning wearing a Liverpool trackie and singing the anfield rap. 100% true is in medical now having a medical and once passed fit will be unveiled later today.

Think sturridge will be gone and probably abroad come January he doesn't suit this play and because we're not playing to his strengths he is struggling i also think Ings would of been perfect for that match. One question Steven Gerrard did drag liverpool to some good cup wins but why do the kop have to sing that Gerrard song Dalgliesh has done more and i don't hear songs about him or other legends i'd rather a song naming all our greats. Lot of respect for what he did but its a song that's not going to lift the team and especially when the team we're up against change the lyrics to.

I don't know who to play in goal just if Karius plays and makes an error some will slate him and we'll be looking at anew keeper in January. My gut feeling Migs because he has played in these and when on form is a good keeper but if Karius plays a blinder then the confidence this will give him. Just want 3 points tomorrow joint top be amazing.
