Rodgers speaking out about RM interest in Sterling not going to force him into a new contract.

While i do understand Sterling is on a long term contract with us, i rather think good old brendan has put his foot in mouth again, there really is no need to be discussing the possible transfer of your star player

Can someone please tell me how Br is able to say he doesn't want a DOF?

If my boss said "Listen son, we think you need some help so we're going to hire someone to give you it" and I said "no i can do it on my own" I'd simply be told to comply or find a new job

I think it's about time Yesil got a run in the team.

one of our problems has been nobody in the box when we do get the ball in, he would solve that, great positioning and finishing. the poor lads been cast away due to some rather blighting injuries and he's worked through them back to fitness now.

He wouldn't be in the German set up if he was no good, and while it is possible his injuries have delayed his development, he can't do much worse than the others we've had up front.

If not, send him up my way to Scunthorpe, we could do with a striker or two

I for one, am literally praying we do not yank Origi back in January.

He is a good 19 year old player with potential to be very good.

The amount people have built him up, within the club and outside, means even if he did get 5-10 goals between January and the end of the season would lead to disappointment.

To pit all our hopes on an unproven 19 year old lad, to bring him into our current rubbish storm could devastate him and destroy his confidence and belief for the future.

He should not be made to bear the pressure the transfer board and the manager have created themselves

Must say tonight and every other night I've seen him play, Martin Kelly is a good player. Disappointing he never got to show it at liverpool due to injuries and not being favoured when fit. If he can keep fit then Palace have gained a very capable RB/CB

So in the real world this next week:

Madrid away:

Close to zero chance of any kind of positive result, i would bite their hands off if they offered anything kinder than a drubbing.

Chelsea at home:

We have struggled to break down mid table teams, low placed teams and we fluked ludogorets, pitting that against the most formidable defence in the league, we aren't looking likely to score at all.

Plus i expect Costa to be back for Chelsea, who must be rubbing his hands for this game. I'd play Sakho if fit because he has the strength to deal with him as shown in FRA vs SPA.

Rodgers job:

A couple of drubbings could well see the end of Rodgers time, the owners are money men, there is no sentiment in business.

By next Saturday we could well see ourselves nearly out of the CL and in the bottom half of the PL.

Klopp would be my man to replace BR, proven record at champions league and domestic level, only struggling this year due to having to sell his best player for a miserly fee and not having the funds to replace him.

Hopefully he could pack Reus into his suitcase and bring him along, we could certainly do with some German efficiency at the moment

but equally, is it wise to sell before you buy?
Because then clubs know we have to buy at any price

Sakho is strong, fast, competes well in the air, good positionally and is the only centre back we have capable of bringing the ball out of defence and playing a proper pass. His arms do go up when he has the ball and gives him an awkward, leggy look but if you base how you rate players on looks then you need a different sport

We need to stop shoehorning players into positions they don't know, he hasn't even had the chance to play centre back for us yet, plus if he goes into midfield, where does Emre Can go???
