Not what i've just been reading its not. Sounds possible after the world cup but definitely not before.

2.) 07 Jun 2018 16:03:32
"The record is at a standstill, there is no way forward, " said Jean-Michel Aulas.

"The record will certainly not close during the World Cup and I do not think there is any change before the World Cup. (We) have not set a base price because we have not discussed this yet. "

I just think we are to string for Barcelona atm. It's going to be tough but I think we shall go on to lift number 6. I believe YNWA.

1.) 29 Apr 2019 11:09:04
I don’t know, could be ropey this tie?

2.) 29 Apr 2019 11:43:17
It’s a hell of a tie. Can’t wait for it.

3.) 29 Apr 2019 11:49:50
Hopefully Barcelona will overplay a bit and tie themselves in a knot, seriously tho, they are a massive club and we need to focus and not underestimate them, but if we play our game and the boys give it their all there's no one we can't beat.

4.) 29 Apr 2019 12:18:06
Well said lil jack. There is no team on the planet that liverpool can't beat. Bring it on, can't wait.

5.) 29 Apr 2019 15:01:14
Klopp needs to prepare properly, no loose ends 😉.

6.) 29 Apr 2019 15:32:20
I had huge expectations in the Champions League Final last year and had Salah not gotten injured and Ox played, i think in the first 20 mins who could have taken them.
But Karius's blunders coupled with world class goals, we lost.
I believed back then that our midfield would be too much for them to handle and im hoping that on Wed, our mid field will be too strong industry wise. Nou Camp is a big pitch and front 3 (if Firmino) is fit, will prove too much for that defence.

7.) 29 Apr 2019 16:59:20
I hope your right Decep but I didn't think our midfield was better than Madrid's Modric was too good for them. I know loads of other things happened in the game but their midfield was better on the night. I hope the same doesn't repeat v Barca, it seems we could have the legs on them but they will be technically better of that I have no doubt. It is a very big pitch, which they are used to. I am not sure it will help us to press as the midfield will have too much ground to cover.

Luckily the game will not just be played in midfield and I hope our superior defence and forward's can swing the tie in our favour. Really exciting game to be involved in.

8.) 29 Apr 2019 18:17:26
Spot on, Mark. I never thought our midfield was better than RM's even tho I would take any of our midfielders who started that final over the hapless and overrated Casemiro. I did think we could out-work and out-hustle them and we did do that for the first 25 mins until Salah was targeted and injured by Ramos (Yeah, I said it) .

As soon as that happened, their midfield took over cos their defence did not have to drop deep to contain Salah and hence, they moved 15 yards up the pitch and put pressure on our midfield cos well, there was NO more outlet to ease pressure. That was why they looked better IMO, not cos they actually were cos we all saw how awful they were before Salah came off.

As for tmrw's game, I think Klopp has a plan to contain Barcelona and Messi BUT we know it will involve taking some risks cos that is what Klopp does. We will have to see what the Mad Genius concocts on Wed.

9.) 29 Apr 2019 23:39:07
I'd call it a 50-50 clash, maybe even 60-40 in our favour with the second leg at Anfield. We can cope with Barcas passing and skill, don't think they can do equally well with our counters and speed. Not for 90 mins on Wednesday and unless they score 3 we'd be in pole position. Can't see our defence giving up 3 v anyone.

10.) 30 Apr 2019 03:30:13
I think our front three are good enough to score them with pace as well as our full backs threading some good passes and getting us over the line and end the tie.

24 Apr 2019 09:38:28
So all the drama we have had in this brilliant season is about to come to a end. Only a few games left. I haven't missed a game in three years and you all know we've had some drama in that time.

So my point is what do we need to make us really grip the league ( not that we haven't already) in first team and squad depth for next year?

Its_our_year_next_year

1.) 24 Apr 2019 10:46:21
Let’s enjoy how the season pans out. Whatever happens happens but we’re now firmly back where we want to be.

Next year we need very little change other than squad depth. The Eds have clearly identified what we need and are looking for.

With the Ox coming back and Brewster stepping up we already have 2 very decent signings.

My only concern being how we manage Milner. He has been magnificent for Liverpool and his versatility has been so useful. So whilst we do need coverage for LB/ RB we also need to consider a midfielder who can adjust mid game. Maybe between Fabinho and Henderson we have that already?

2.) 24 Apr 2019 11:16:13
I would say stability and continuity would be the best way to maintain, and try and improve, our already excellent league form. No radical overhauls, no marquee signings for the sake of it, keeping our best players (if possible), signing a couple of quality additions that can drive competition for places. That'd be, in my opinion the best approach. Basically do what we have been doing the last few seasons - steadily improving the quality of the first team and, with it, the squad. It is working and continuing along that path will certainly aid us in our pursuit of success for the coming seasons.

3.) 24 Apr 2019 11:30:34
As someone said the other day, we're in our prime, city are ageing and need replacements in key areas. Everyone else is playing catch up. You always need to improve the squad to stop complacency creeping in but we're not crying out for any thing desperately other than a dedicated RB, to aid Trent, not to oust him. Other than that, just look at Ed002's transfer target list from the other day. The club knows what it needs to do.

4.) 24 Apr 2019 11:42:49
Fabinho and Keita fully settled and accustomed to the Premier League would be fantastic. Apart from that, a quality centre-back to cover for Gomez and Van Dijk. Matip or Lovren can be fourth choice.

5.) 24 Apr 2019 12:06:15
It’s a difficult predicament. It’s hard competing on all levels with a team like City when you look at their bench. But now you are starting to read about all the players that are unhappy with the amount of game time they get. So do we go out buy the marquee player and risk upsetting the Apple cart or do we stick to what we have and hopefully some youngsters and reserve players step up. Barcelona managed to be dominant for a few years with a crap bench mainly due to the wages they pay their first 11, but the. The difference was obvious when several main players moved on or retired.

6.) 24 Apr 2019 13:35:58
I reckon the only starting 11 position we could feasibly improve on would be RB. We all love TAA, he's got a HUGE future with the club, but he's the weakest positional player in our first 11. With him being able to play midfield, and being so young that he doesn't have to play every single game, I think he's perfect for 2nd choice RB/ Rotational midfielder next season. Don't watch a lot of other teams play, and haven't updated Football Manager since 2017 edition, so I don't have a list of potential signings, but I do like Ben-Wissaka, and I've never been disappointed with Thomas Meunier when i've seen him play, so that's what i'd put forward for next season, and then some squad freshening up to replace players looking to leave.

We're a few smart buys away from being an absolutely tremendous squad, it's really exciting times.

7.) 24 Apr 2019 19:29:52
I’d say we need 4 players:
A Migs replacement
A versatile full back to back-up and challenge Trent and Robbo
A proper CB to challenge Gomez with one of Matip or Lovren leaving and the other staying as back up.
A versatile forward to challenge/ rotate with the front 3 who are all themselves versatile.

Big virgil kicking the ball out of the ground after the winner. Amazing lad.

Its_our_year_next_year

1.) 01 Apr 2019 17:30:08
His defending in that 2v1 with Son and Sissoko was masterful.

2.) 01 Apr 2019 18:21:02
Good piece of intelligent play from VVD esp. under immense pressure, no doubt. Having said that, I don't think it is anything that extraordinary, IMO. Why? Cos that is the exact way you are coached to defend such a play. As a young player playing CB, I was taught to defend a 2 v 1 situation EXACTLY the way VVD did. It is simply the basics of defending such a situation.

Now that does not mean it will work every time cos had Sissoko scored, NOBODY would bother and I would have still said that VVD defended the play perfectly. VVD gambled (as he was coached to do), played the [percentages perfectly (reduced Sissoko's chances of scoring from 85% to near 20%) and it worked so I'm not that hysterical about it. Just relieved it worked.

What I do give him MASSIVE credit for is for not panicking, not losing his head nor being rash. He kept his head, his composure, recognized the situation and did his job very well. Hats Off, VVD! You pretty much scored that second goal with that piece of defensive play.

3.) 01 Apr 2019 18:56:16
I'm not usually one to highlight flaws in individuals, especially when we have seen something really good. But! The brilliance of VVD was so needed due to Matip's rash decision to press a lost cause and ultimately, he was taken out of the play by 1 touch. And this isn't meant as a criticism of Matip in general, as I've seen this as a flaw of our press and how individuals get caught out a lot. We do get away with it often and I suppose it is high risk high reward game. But sometimes I sit back and just wonder whether the decision making is as good as it could be. Have seen Milner caught out a few times this season. Awesome forum for VVD to showcase his skills tho!

4.) 01 Apr 2019 19:17:25
If we win the title, can we please send a gift box to Pickford and Alderweireld? And at least a card to that Palace keeper whose name I forgot?

Who knew there were so many players who were secretly Reds?

We really are the best supported team.

{Ed025's Note - well certainly the jammiest red67..

5.) 01 Apr 2019 20:31:46
In a 2 v 1 situation the forwards should always score or at the very least test the keeper. Vvd was intelligent enough not to jump in, stay on his feet for as long as possible and most importantly not let Sissoko pass the ball. He deserves massive credit and would think 9 times out of 10 the forward players would at the very least test the keeper. Big thumbs up from me!

6.) 01 Apr 2019 20:15:00
You want some of my bitter Ed025? 😉.

{Ed025's Note - love it MK, but you do seem to be getting the rub of the green in some crucial games mate...but hey good luck to you..

7.) 01 Apr 2019 20:28:15
Pint of boddingtons for Ed 25?

{Ed025's Note - i might just deserve that lerchy, its the irony that gets me though mate, you are all bleating on about how city are getting all the decisions go their way but fail to recognize how many points you have gained by basic errors by teams some of which have been catastrophic!, if you do win the league (and i hope you do) i will be using these facts to rain on your parade which is my job.. :)

8.) 01 Apr 2019 21:10:53
Ed25 try as you may, you will NEVER be able to rain on our parade or Open-Top Bus shindig (boy, would that be legendary) should we win the PL this season. But hey, you are always welcome to try, man.

{Ed025's Note - its not that i want to red wolf but its my duty, just as it was liverpools want when we were losing to wimbledon and on the verge of relegation to be dancing the conga, and carrying a blue coffin down county road, its fair game mate and if you do blow it i will be all over you like a bun on a boloni sandwich.. :)

9.) 01 Apr 2019 21:25:09
I've missed you Eds25 where you been.

{Ed025's Note - i have been very busy with work IDLLK and so my time has been a bit limited, but i will still be popping in and sharing pearls of wisdom with you mate, especially now that everton are playing like 70,s brazil.. :)

10.) 01 Apr 2019 21:51:23
Ed025 was a Higsons man, that’s what rotted his football brain away 😀.

{Ed025's Note - i never liked higsons ale juicer, im a lager lout mate and moretti is my tipple, although if city were to do the quadruple i might just treat myself to a small flute of crystal champagne.. :)

11.) 01 Apr 2019 22:32:57
Not sure I agree with “if we blow it” ed25 mate.
City have been favourites since the start and still are
.

I think it’s more a case of “ if we win it “ -, It’ll be one hell of an echievment. City remind me of Chelsea in the early Mourinho days, two quality players in each position.

{Ed025's Note - they are strong drogie but they have a very tough month coming up and they wont win every game, their priority is the CL mate so expect to see a few cracks appearing..

12.) 01 Apr 2019 22:42:02
Ed25, the Conga will be in FULL effect should we win the PL this season, man. Mark my words. Cheers, mate.

{Ed025's Note - and i may well be leading it mate.. :)

25 Feb 2019 14:36:12
Easy to say but I think if we had a fit ox available we would be more dangerous. We don't run at teams from midfield enough. If we did then it would free up the forwards more or else lead to the midfielder scoring. We need to be more creative.

Go for the diamond on Wednesday shaq at number 10 salah and mane up front the keita left mid, FAB holding, gini right mid and Trent back with normal back 5. This gives us hendo and milly to come on with passion if needed.

If we could get that 4 point gap again then the guys would surely lift themselves for the run in.

#citydroppointsplease.

1.) 25 Feb 2019 16:05:06
OP, I disagree respectfully. We have NOT had Ox all season so bringing him into the equation hold no water, I'm afraid. Our decision making up top is poor at the moment and that needs to be addressed first and foremost. Shaq did not do a thing last night cos he's just back from injury. Also, Klopp should have brought on Naby instead of Shaq as Naby is in form and Shaq had been injured. Just my opinion.

Talking about players who have not played at all this season and saying they would have made a diff., bears no no logical meaning. Why? They have never played a minute for us so we don't even know how they would have helped or what impact their presence would have made.

2.) 26 Feb 2019 07:41:20
Naby Keita is a better player than AOC!

3.) 26 Feb 2019 09:34:08
JAN, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez does not play for LFC. She is a U. S Congresswoman. You're welcome.

Think he's done his hamstring so I would think he'll go on loan to Cardiff. Although I think it's best we get 20 million for him and let him go to Lazio if that's still possible.

Listen if we can win tonight we ain't won anything, but these things sometimes snowball. ie say we win tonight and city are beat by arsenal then we win it mad I know bit it's possible. Im Just trying to be positive as this wasn't always the case as a lfc supporter. Let's enjoy the games we have remaining and you never know.
