I'm just wondering, I know we wanted to bring in quality this season, but doesn't it seem like we've put all our eggs into one basket and now that Keita and VVD haven't come through yet. it appears that we have no alternatives!
Oh well we never do it the easy way. let's hope we see a couple more new faces before the start of the season.

I think these are the only two players we have been linked with that actually improve our first eleven. All the other alternatives are squad players with potential for more (Meyer, Hector Herrera, mammana to name a few) and not slotting in ahead of say Can or Lovren for the first game of the season. So I am actually really comfortable if we miss our targets and instead stay with what we have. Of course I think Robertson and Salah are good signings and fix some problematic areas for us. For me, VVD is more important than keita as we have plenty of cover in his position and considerably less top class defenders.

Well, Salah was not first choice either. You think we went into this transfer window only with alternatives for the Salah position but not for the others? How is that even possible? every club considers multiple options with a whole bunch of players. LFC has chosen to pursue these targets and at the right time Klopp will decide how to proceed next. Maybe he might decide to sign 2 alternatives to Naby and VVD or maybe he may decide if he cannot get them he doesn't need them.

I hate alternative talk. if we had two or three potential targets as we did with wingers fine you can move down your list but if you have your heart set on one or two players if they don't materialize we need to learn to be patient and start the scouting process again. Panic buying for a position has got us in trouble countless times.

Agreed, Shane. If we can't get who we really want, we stick to the plan and focus on either the alternatives or keep your powder dry and focus on putting in a couple of youngsters who can do a job. At least, they will be super motivated to have a go.

Surely we would not be aware of alternative targets until we've moved onto them? When I say 'we' I mean the fans and not the club as I fully expect they have a number of targets in mind if we do not get Keita and VVD.

Ok fellow Reds I haven't posted for a while so go easy. .thoughts on potential recruits still required to take up 1 place to be CHAMPIONS:
Left back - Moreno (apparently we've bid £18mil and they want £20mil. .not being funny but we don't want to be held to ransom but not like we don't have £75 mil to invest)
Centre Back - Lovren (again we've bid £20 mil apprently. they want £5 more again apparently)
Right Back - Micah Richards would be nice (although varying reports on his attitude. I'm sure Buck woudl sort him out)
Midfielder -?? Another attacking midfielder would be nice but not sure whom. . any suggestions?
Forward - Now this is the area we definately need to re-invest. nope we can't buy a world class striker but Cavani perhaps or another young talented player from somewhere. I really am struggling with an adequate name to buy up front). .
Anyway just my thoughts. .

Right I come here everyday eager to see if we have any serious transfer updates but I guess like me everyone is now fed up with the Mr Suarez rumours.
So I ask this from our club. simply put out we want £50-60-70 or whatever the amount is for the ungrateful player.
Then inform him. if an offer comes in for 'X Million' then great we'll sell you. otherwise SHUT UP and honour another year on the long term contract you signed next season.
The guy really is taking liberties now for ALL the support shown by the club and us Fans!
I'm quite frankly sick to death of it by now. apologies for rant fellow REDS but we need to get it sorted one way or another becoz I'm fearful the longer this drags on, the less chance we will have to replace him with the quality we need to push for the Champions League place.
Own personal opinion. buy attacking midfielder. (erikssen). and play behind Sturridge with Aspas/Sterling/Ibe and Coutinho either side.

No probe I thought I would put it out there as it was reported in that tabloid newspaper that always gets it right the Mirror lol but I did think that if genuinely we've rejected a bid of 1.5 billion, then surely something is wrong because how much do FSG want to sell up.2 billion, which would verge on us probably never getting sold.

Does it really matter if he was or wasn't the most expensive player. it's a great bit of business, it's done and dusted and let's move forward to the next signings. not having a go but seen many posts here about how much I hid he cost. was it £30 mil or £34mil or so on and so forth. it doesn't matter.
Personally hoping we still get VVD done. LB and then let's see if any other bonus signings come in?

Ok I know I'll probably get called a nutter but I still think VVD is the one guy I'd sign. we are crying out for a CB, to think of how many points we dropped through defensive mistakes or corners not being cleared etc. yes I know I'm dreaming again.

I have to agree as much as he tried and did ok, he really isn't and the answer for left back. From what I can remember he was caught out more than a few times. but honestly after our on going transfer saga. what should've been an exciting times with us spending big and bringing in established players has now got me very worried.
