This may be included in the match review.

It did surprise me how average PSG were last night. Do the Eds feel that the reason was how good Liverpool were or is it a coaching problem there?

I'd also like the Eds opinion on the French league. A few journalists have said today that the big problem is a league with no real competition.

Cheers.

IncaMan

{Ed001's Note - bit of everything. The weakness of the French league has made the team complacent. Liverpool capitalised on it to keep them from getting going and Tuchel is simply not good enough to fix the issues.}

He certainly has an aura that he is though 🤣

There awful. Neymar is. Not bothered what people think.

Kick up he wins all day long but as a footballer he just doesn't do it.

Like when you see freestylers like f2 and there ripping professional footballers apart, but yet aren't in the prem.

There is an art to actually being a footballer. Tactics, reading the game, hard work, decision making etc.

2.) 19 Sep 2018 18:29:39
Neymar's lack of effort was so stark that it felt like they were down to 10 men in parts. Paris SG is a squad assembled by money, not by a manager with a cohesive idea. Tuchel's tactics and team selection was strange and they paid the price. It was only moments of quality from a few of there stand out players (Mbappe and Meunier) and some errors from us (Robertson clearance; Salah pass) that made it close, we were a far better team - team being the operative word.

3.) 19 Sep 2018 18:55:14
PSG were crap, I expected more if I'm honest. On another night they could have easily been on a hiding.

4.) 19 Sep 2018 19:13:10
Someone is going to be on the wrong end of a Liverpool pasting. We keep missing all these easy chances but soon it's going to stick.

5.) 19 Sep 2018 19:46:44
Definitely lfc8. It's just a matter of time. The boys didn't spend the summer together, world Cup and all. The front three will click soon.

Hi all,

Would love to know what the Eds think to our central defence.
I’m so happy with everywhere else but still feel we lack just a bit of quality in that department, especially if VVD is injured.

Any thoughts?

IncaMan

{Ed002's Note - I think there are more than enough options.}

1.) 30 Jul 2018 14:26:18
Thanks for your reply Ed.

2.) 30 Jul 2018 15:30:31
Do u think Nathaniel Phillips is now considered an option now after impressing in pre season I would like too think so.

{Ed002's Note - No.}

3.) 30 Jul 2018 17:19:38
He looked promising (Philips) but far from ready to face Premier league attackers.

Also, I noticed shaqiri played all over the park against utd and more often than not he was quite central. Noting this it looks less likely that we will sign another am, fekir or otherwise although that is just a guess.

Hi Ed’s,

Quick doubt about money. No problem if you don’t want to talk about it.

Having read an article about the finances at different clubs, can you clear up a doubt?

I’m under the impression most owners have bought their respective clubs throw a holding company in the form of a loan. The club then has to pay interest on that loan back to the holding company. Is the capital gradually pad back at the same time? Or does that stay there and get returned to the owner once the club is resold?

I really have no clear idea so I’m more than happy to be corrected.

Thanks

P. S. As always Ed’s, thanks for the work you put in.

IncaMan

{Ed002's Note - No, that is not how clubs are purchased.}

Hi Eds,

Quickly query about the Emery Can contract situation.

As he is out of contract this summer and has no pre-contract signed, I presume that if he were to suffer any serious injury now it could scupper his chances of getting a new contract either with LFC or elsewhere.

I know footballers earn huge sums now but it seems a little risky to me.

Do players normally have some kind of protection in the event of that happening? Or am I missing something?

Thanks.

IncaMan

{Ed002's Note - No, it wouldn't make a difference. van Nistlerooy is an example and there are otehrs.}

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

2.) 08 Mar 2018 18:25:38
I hope he stays.

3.) 08 Mar 2018 18:29:00
I hope he stays coz we have too many midfielders in their 30s, they will soon be gone and we need to have long term players imo. Can is a really good footballer but he hasn't put in many blistering performances like he did last year. He is off and I think he has shown a lack of professionalism, it may be slight and unintentional but he's not playing as well as he can, even though the world cup is coming.

4.) 08 Mar 2018 18:36:29
I’d like him to stay, but good luck to him if he goes. Except against us anyway,

5.) 08 Mar 2018 18:43:28
We have 1 midfielder in his 30's?

6.) 08 Mar 2018 19:06:23
Milner is 32, Lallana is 29, every other midfielder we have is 27 or younger. I respectfully wish that people would do some research and not just post the first thing that comes into their heads.

7.) 08 Mar 2018 19:07:10
Do we jtred91? Milner of course, lallana is 30 isn't he? And Jordan Henderson is not yet 30 I know but Is he 29 now? OK, I overactive a bit but you bet my drift. They are players coming go the end of their prime. I actually think Hendo is yet to have his best season, I think he will still be playing great for another 3 years.

Can is young, he has huge potential and we have had a lot to do with his development, it seems a shame to let him go as he starts to come into his prime. He is also the only bruiser we have, Hendo can handle himself and milner and aoc are no pushover but none of them really apply physical pressure on opponent midfields.

8.) 08 Mar 2018 19:22:46
You're right smegger, I apologise, I still think we should try and keep the player we have developed as he enters his prime.

9.) 08 Mar 2018 21:18:08
Supersalah-Your just making stuff up.

10.) 08 Mar 2018 22:25:23
Keita is coming in and probably another and Can and Milner will likely make way and nobody will miss Can and Milner I’m afraid.

11.) 09 Mar 2018 07:36:17
Lack of professiolism? Inconsistensy yes, but lacknof professionalism, hmmm not so sure about that.

Just an observation. Im happy for any of the eds/ fellow posters to point out if im missing something.

I know we're focusing on how bad we are are set plays but its seems to me that we're not 'compact' in general. When our forwards and midfield press our defence doesn't seem to move up with them leaving so much space in the middle. I imagine that's why we seem to give away a fair amount of corners and free kicks that lead to goals.

Maybe its because our current defenders don't have the speed to cover if a ball is played over the top and hence they are afraid to push higher during the press. Its something that can be seen on the tactical cameras that are used.

Perhaps that's the thinking behind wanting to sign VVD. He has the speed to recover.

Incaman.

1.) 14 Aug 2017 14:33:54
Balls over the top are difficult for us yes and speed is vital so a fast CB may help. Both Lovren and Matip are not the quickest but not the slowest. Its mainly because our fullbacks are up the pitch when we lose the ball that the counter works so well against us. The goals by Watford all came from sloppy defending though IMO. Matip gave the ball away for the first goal where Lovren made the block that lead to the corner. We did not attack that corner with any conviction nor on the 3rd goal. The way we set up as a team and our mental attitude is more to blame than speed.

2.) 14 Aug 2017 15:56:19
Pompey Red, with the full backs so high, Henderson should be dropping back to fill in so the cb's can cover for the full backs higher up, or that would be my way of play.

I think there will only be 1 or 2 changes for Southampton (maybe Keita starting? ) but I expect a complete change for Chelsea midweek i. e. Clyne, Moreno, Matip, Fabinho, Shaq, Mignolet all starting.

Hi,

I think the games TAA struggled in last season were Man U and Crystal Palace away - 2 teams that play differently to Man City.

Sané (or it seems to be Mendy this year) stays out on the left and the ball is played directly to them. TAA seems to handle those one-on-ones well.

The problem has been when the striker (Benteke or Lukaku) goes short to get a flick on from a goal kick. It caught our defence and midfield out of position a few times. That’s why I see it more of a team problem that just a TAA issue. I’m hopeful that a midfielder has been told to watch for that tonight so that TAA is not exposed by it.

I could be wrong of course! Just my own thoughts.

In Seville itself. I've been to Osuna a few times to eat. The restaurant on the top of the hill next to the church is worth visiting.
At least it's cooled down a bit now!
Hope you enjoy your time here.

{Ed001's Note - that is where we had lunch in the Game of Thrones chairs there. It is beautiful there.}
