Eds, is Ron-Robert Zieler a possibility? I think ed001 said we may have looked at him in the past, not sure on that though.

Cheers

Ed002/001, with Cech being available, and Liverpool seemingly being interested in a GK, is it even remotely possible that we may look to him to resolve that? I understand Romero is of interest & it's unlikely that we've ever shown an interest, but I'm just wondering if it's impossible.

Cheers,

YNWA

{Ed002's Note - The interest in Cech is from Real Madrid, Monaco and PSG. Not from Liverpool.}

Hi ed001

Hope you're well and enjoying the season so far, looks like it's going to be a tight one!

Any chance of a profile on Del Piero? I searched the player profiles site and couldn't find one.

FORNAX

{Ed001's Note - added him to the list for you mate.}

1.) 15 Dec 2021 12:10:03
how long is that list now Ed?

{Ed001's Note - just the 3752 footballers on there now.}

2.) 15 Dec 2021 14:20:50
Del Piero article might get done when we're about 350 years old. Ed1 has his work cut out here the poor old bugger lol ;) hope you're keeping well mate.

{Ed001's Note - you might have to wait for my grandkids' grandkids for the Del Piero one! Good thanks mate, still recovering from Ed666's visit yesterday and he was only here for a few hours.}

3.) 15 Dec 2021 18:44:14
Ed001, have you considered outsourcing some of the player profiles to the other editors or some of the older posters who may have seen them play live?

Ed025 for example would be great for someone like Dixie Dean or Neville Southall!

{Ed001's Note - everyone always says they will do something until it actually comes time.}

4.) 17 Dec 2021 08:00:16
And I bet 3751 of them were requested by me;-)

{Ed001's Note - more than likely!}

Best team in the tournament won, but I'm still very proud of a really young team. A tough way to lose in the end, but if correctly harnessed could be used as invaluable experience moving forward.

FORNAX

1.) 11 Jul 2021 23:28:33
Liverpool 6 England nothing.

2.) 11 Jul 2021 23:35:38
Absolutely.

Congratulations to Italy, well deserved.

3.) 12 Jul 2021 02:38:34
Liverpool 6 England nothing? What does that even mean?

4.) 12 Jul 2021 09:14:47
OP, the logic of football was respected last night. The best team of the tournament won. The End.

Probably going to regret posting this quite so soon after the latest gut punch, but oh well.

Overall I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. The defending tonight was shockingly awful, with the admirable exception of Nat Phillips, I'd love to know what Klopp has against him.

Kabak looks like he's learning our system entirely on the job. In all 3 games now he has shown a tendency to drop a foot or two back under pressure without looking around at what his teammates are doing, still getting used to the high-line and the first goal is a perfect example. He should have been signed in the summer if at all.

Gini was as anonymous as ever, and Thiago still looks like he's getting upto speed with how we play. He's still too slow on the ball for my liking, but does at least offer more finesse than Wijnaldum - which may help if the front 3 were firing. Firmino's shooting has been awful all season, why does nearly every shot end up rolling along the floor into the 'keepers arms?

The thing that disappoints me the most however is how boring we are to watch. Aside from 15 minutes in the second half there was no urgency from a team that HAD lost 3 at-home on the spin. Apart from Henderson (from CB! ) no one is forcing the issue enough and it makes for difficult viewing.

Klopp said in post-match that we created enough chances to win the game. If he really thinks so then he needs to talk to his optician pronto, I really hope he was just trying to deflect pressure from the players there. As for the referee. The arrogance he displayed in barely watching a single replay tells the whole story. Respect the person, sure, but bad refereeing should be called out for exactly what it is, otherwise it will not get better.

Apologies for the rant, hope our form picks up soon.

FORNAX

1.) 20 Feb 2021 21:20:08
It's nothing to do with bad refereeing you only need to look at it the once it was just a bad day at the office no excuses pi Ford for once had a good game.

2.) 20 Feb 2021 21:41:13
Phillips was poor for the peno getting spun but other wise very good

Does Ben Davies have pace? Would him and phillips be worth a shot maybe

But I agree with everything you were saying Jones if again even tho he was the better of the 3.

Ed001 with all the talk around Werner, it looks like we are looking to bring in another forward.

IF he were to come I am struggling to see where he plays in the medium-long term. One option I did think of was perhaps moving Firmino to more of a '10' position, however it seems Werner is similar in liking to drop into the midfield - would they just end up getting in each others way?

With our front 3 all going into next season at 28 I can see the need to integrate another top class forward soon, but I can't see Werner being happy to sit on the bench for a season or so before starting in the 'big' matches. What do you guys think?

FORNAX

{Ed001's Note - Werner can play wide and up top, it just gives Klopp options and the chance to rest one of the 3 when needed.}

1.) 26 May 2020 14:31:14
Mane and Salah will go to afcon so we will need him anyone saying bobby origi and mini will do us need to give their head a wobble.

2.) 26 May 2020 18:52:34
Jaydub. I think you're right, but I still think big div, Bobby and minamino could be devastating. Especially Bobby and mino. If they get their link up play working well they could be phenomenal. And Bobby and origi are good on the air too. But we have brewster who either comes back and does a job. Or more likely I imagine, we sign another striker. Werner would be my choice as he is so versatile. And klopp likes that eh.

3.) 26 May 2020 20:10:13
Alisson
TAA
Gomez
VVD
Robbo
Henderson
Fabinho
Ox
Mane
Bobby
Salah.

4.) 26 May 2020 20:36:38
Maybe Werner backs himself to take Bobby's role in the team.

Eds and Reds -

First of all, good way to finish pre-season if you ask me. I was particularly impressed with Hoever in the RB role. I think it's refreshing to see a number of youngsters potentially providing cover for Trent and Robertson. Also nice to see Alisson's got his nightmare out of the way early (🤞) .

I was wondering what everyone thinks of Lallana as an option to play as a '6'? I never really thought about it before however, now that I have, I think he *could* develop into a good option. If you ask me, he's got at least as good technique as anyone in the squad - very helpful in getting the team out of tight spots. If he can improve his defending we could have a somewhat unique option to play the role. I was also impressed to see him move the ball about relatively quickly.

I'd love to know Ed001's thoughts if he's around.

FORNAX

{Ed001's Note - he has always been a grafter willing to track back and cover, so I don't see why he can't play a central midfielder role, but not sure what a '6' is? He presses well, can pass, so long as he doesn't get caught up taking too many touches he would be fine there.}

1.) 31 Jul 2019 22:20:36
I would rather see Fabinho in the deeper role personally and Lallana playing slightly forward, where Milner plays.

Fabinho can break down play and start attacks just as well as Lallana can, but is also tall enough to deal with any long balls pumped forward, allowing the CB’s keep an eye on forwards running in behind and can focus on cleaning up any secondary balls.

2.) 31 Jul 2019 22:20:53
Against certain defensive setups, having Lallana in a deeper role could really help us. I don't think, having recovered from a series of injuries, playing him ninety minutes in an attacking role is all that beneficial, especially considering the options we have in that position already. The only thing that hinders his growth in that position is Henderson and Milner already playing the deeper roles, but I've always respected Adam's talent and mental fortitude, so I think we can see him return to form there. He's certainly hardworking enough to do it.

3.) 31 Jul 2019 23:18:23
He doesn’t have to be central. Look at how many times last season Gini and Milner would be in full back areas getting the ball allowing Robbo and Trent to get forward more. Fabinho can still sit in the middle.

4.) 01 Aug 2019 04:44:12
I'm not sure on wether that role would suit him. He has always shown he's very good at hassling and winning the ball back. But so often that was in an advanced role where he had licence to just chase the man with the ball knowing there was always 2 midfielders behind him. In a deep role you need a level of awareness and positional discipline, know when to chase the ball and know when to stand off. I'm not sure if he has that positional adaptability or not.

It's an interesting question though. Players like arteta, cazorla, modric, pjanic all were attacking midfielders who have thrived when moved into a deeper role.

5.) 01 Aug 2019 19:47:26
I think Hoever could be quite good at RB even tho it was clear vs Lyon, that it is a position that he is still adjusting to. What impressed me in the Lyon game was the level of fitness that was in the whole team. There was pace, tempo, power, zip in the passes and the press was much better. This told me that the boys' fitness levels were coming along fine. Shaq and Naby looked fit and strong in the time they were on and Salah is till well, Salah. Bobby may still need some time to get up to speed but all in all, it was a great run out for the whole team. The result? Not arsed.

I agree, Palace is perfect for him. While Roy was not a good fit for us, he's clearly a good coach and I've been impressed with how he's handled some of the talent coming through at Palace.

He's probably a better fit for them than he is for us at the moment, as we don't really play with an orthodox number 9.

I actually think we'll mix up the formations next year. With the signings we've made, we could conceivably play 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1 and 4-1-2-1-2 (diamond) .

Depending on Carvalho/ Elliot performances in pre-season and training I could see either playing at the tip of the diamond against the bigger teams. Having a proper striker gives us good options.

If the price is reasonable I'd be more than happy with him, would provide excellent cover for Salah. He would also be valuable in squad registration due to his HG status - especially with Ox maybe leaving in the summer.

Exactly my thoughts, and I want Nunez. Mane and Salah score plenty of goals, and I suspect Diaz will increase his output next season too, but when teams employ a deep-block against us we struggle to create clear-cut opportunities. We need a world class finisher who can take half chances imo, we had plenty of those last night!

I don't think he looked like he was on drugs, just as if someone's bewildered elderly father had just wondered into the studio off the street.

Merson seemed adamant City will win the league, so if his form is any indicator, the league will end up at Anfield.
