Below is a repost from Ed002 from a couple of days ago on here if you missed it.

{Ed002's Note - Need G, CB, LB/ RB cover and LM - could look to a Creative AM player (along the lines of Fekir (as an example) ) and drop Shaqiri and Keita down the pecking order The club would also need to replace Salah, Mane or Firmino if any were to leave.

GK - Liverpool should look for someone who can be trusted, is older, homegrown and can help with the younger goalkeepers and youth coaching

RB is a difficult position for Liverpool to address unless TAA is moved to midfield (as Ed001 tells me is the plan) and a new first team player arrives - although finding space for TAA in midfield still looks tough to me. There is no natural RB in the U23s who can step up, or so I am told, but we also know that Gomez can provide cover as well. In terms of who the club has looked at, I can only say that I am aware of one player, but no doubt there will be others:
Kenny Lala (RB/ RM) only just signed a new contract Racing Strasbourg but has been looked at by the club - not sure if he would be available
If you were to ask me who I think is a viable option but the club has shown no interest in, I would say Valentino Lazaro (RM/ RW/ RB) who would be a great fix for providing cover for the whole right hand side.

The situation at LB is rather different as there is an up and coming player able to step in to Moreno’s position of providing cover. However, I keep being reminded that thought persist about Lloyd Kelly (LB/ CB) who has been used more in the CB role as Bristol City have a young LB on loan who is clearly preferred. I cannot say whether or not there is any firm interest in Lloyd Kelly (CB), but I can say that Liverpool have looked at a couple of younger CBs as I have explained and other potential options like both Lloyd Kelly and Aidan Wilson who have been "recommended" to the club by an "agent" who may be open to cutting corners (and would be the last person on earth to discuss any of this with me) . More than that I cannot say without some issues arising.
So my advice would be to utilise what the club has or risk losing him:
Adam Lewis (LB) I think he should be promoted to provide cover, in which case LB cover becomes less of an issue
I cannot answer what the club’s views are on Juanma (LB/ CB) but it doesn’t look like he will be able to make the step up given what we have seen in the past 18 months appearance/ bench wise.

CB is easier to deal with but one thing to be remembered is that if Liverpool are to bring in a first pick CB then Gomez becomes available to play or cover either FB position in addition to CB. Although if a ub and coming CB like Godrey or Fry were signed, then Gomez would likely be first pick and they could replace Matip perhaps?
Diego Llorente (CB) has been watched by Marseille, Spurs, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, West Ham, Fulham and Sevilla since joining Real Sociedad in the summer - Spurs could be tempted as they expect TA to leave – and I would not rule out a Liverpool offer
Dael Fry (CB) Liverpool has a declared interest in Fry as they look to bolster the HG quota - knowing that prices will increase - much is expected of Fry
Ben Godfrey (CB) - an option to Fry
Ruben Dias (CB) Liverpool have watched the Benfica CB on several occasions and watched him in a national game against Croatia in September - however, he is heading elsewhere
de ligt (CB) I am not aware of any de Ligt rumours involving Liverpool and they have certainly not expressed any interest – although many of the fans have raised the issue repeatedly. Dayot Upamecano is similar in that Liverpool has shown no interest but people still ask about.
Francisco Ferreira (CB) has also been mentioned and I will remind regular readers that was one of the three young CBs Liverpool looked at in 2017 with a view to taking one in January 2018. He is priced the way he is in order to turn any potential buyers away, such as Manchester City, West Ham and Borussia Dortmund who have also shown a little interest and watched him in the B side over the past 18 months. Anecdotally, the other two were Modibo Sagnan (he will be moving to Real Sociedad in the summer) and Perr Schuurs (he was expected to join Liverpool at 18 – but moved to Ajax) .
And my thoughts on who Liverpool should look to: Jorge Mere (CB) of Cologne, Marseille's Boubacar Kamara (CB) and RBL's Ibrahima Konate (CB) – all young with expectations set very high.

In terms of the DM position I doubt Liverpool will look to adding anyone unless there is a plan to change the way they play, but:
Sandro Tonali (DM) there has been interest from Liverpool but he is going to be very expensive and it is hard to see where he will fit in – I expect him to stay in Italy

Midfield CM is not a position where much is likely to happen but Liverpool need Lallana to be available more often or look to replace him with a LM player:
Nicolo Barella (CM) Whilst it is true that Nicolo Barella is of interest to Liverpool and has been watched a couple of times recently, he is being priced at the very top end of his market value, and Barella has made it clear that he wants to be a starter and stay in Italy - so difficult unless Liverpool plan to move Naby Keïta on to raise the money and make space in the side, it seems an unlikely move. is not a position where much is likely to happen
Diego Laxalt (LM) Long term interest will come to nothing as he looks to be heading elsewhere
Bruno Fernandes (AM) is of interest to Everton, Manchester United, Milan and Liverpool who have all looked at him on two or more occasions. Spurs maintain an interest but only if Christian Eriksen leaves. Asking price has more than doubled from what was already a high price in recent months and that has pushed aside interest from Juventus who don't see the value, Valencia and CSKA. Whilst Bayern Munich and another EPL side have looked as well, neither have a declared interest that I know of and both have other AM targets.
Julian Brandt (LW/ AM) if he is available Liverpool will be one of the interested clubs – and I expect him to be available and the focus of attention.
Joao Felix (AM) is not a player Liverpool has spoken to his club about and a lot of efforts are being made to finalise a move elsewhere.

Wings and Forwards:
Paulo Dybala (AM/ RW/ F) is another one of the nailed on players that is perhaps not as nailed on as people think – however, he is available and Juventus are open not use him in a little horse trading for either Icardi (who is likely heading elsewhere) or Salah (whose “agent” has been knocking on their door for a while trying to make a move happen). Would be a decent Salah replacement.
Nicolas Pepe (RW) two sides are in discussions with Lille and Liverpool has no declared interest – if they did it would be as a Salah replacement – I would not hold your breath
Federico Chiesa (RW) significant interest from elsewhere and Fiorentina planning on pricing him out of a move at something like €120M, Liverpool has shown no interest, but if they do it would be as a Salah replacement
Lorenzo Insigne (LW) – has been mentioned regularly but would be a Salah or Mane replacement but very, very expensive €150M asking price
Everton (LW) Manchester City don't see value in the €50M asking price and Milan see him as a potential option – I am not aware of any declared interest from Liverpool
Thorgan Hazard (LW/ AM) Borussia Monchengladbach have confirmed discussions with one club, the interest of another and that their player have been watched by a number of sides including Liverpool – there are apparently no offers on the table and no further discussions are planned before the end of the season – so currently no more than a tenuous link
Timo Werner (S) It has been reported by the Fat Kid from Bolton that a deal for Werner was agreed with RBL in January – it wasn’t. Someone else (whose name escapes me) has apparently said again recently that the deal with RBL is agreed and it is just the salary deal to be figured out – this is all news to Leipzig who have been speaking to Bayern Munich trying to agree a price. There has certainly be interest from Klopp but right now there is no deal in place at all. It is had to see how Werner would fit in unless there is a change of style.
Silas Wamangituka (S) I am not aware of any declaration of interest from Liverpool in Silas Wamangituka but he has certainly been watched by them so it is certainly possible it will come. Barcelona and numerous other sides, including several from England such as Brighton, Leicester and Spurs have also taken a look. A problem the English sides have is he will never be eligible to be home grown and would likely not get a work permit - whereas Barcelona don't have any such issues. I would not hold your breath.

Outbound (perhaps) :

Simon Mignolet (G) maybe
Loris Karius (G)

Alberto Moreno (LB)

Nathaniel Clyne (RB)

Joel Matip (CB) will make way if a new CB is to be added

Marco Grujic (CM) perhaps another loan, no assurance he will get a WP in England
James Milner (CM/ RM) perhaps
Adam Lallana (LM)
Alan (CM) can't get a WP - a further loan to Fluminese

Sheyi Ojo (RW)
Harry Wilson (RW) needs to make a decision and talk to the club to see if there will ever be a chance for him at Liverpool - there is serious interest in him now
Ryan Kent (LW)

Divock Origi (F) perhaps but right now I expect him to stay
Daniel Sturridge (S)
Bobby Adekanye (S)
Taiwo Awoniyi (S) won't get a WP
Danny Ings (F) }.

1.) 20 Apr 2019 15:34:50
Ed002, you're a gentleman.

2.) 20 Apr 2019 16:32:20
brilliant, just brilliant. I've said before, it it doesn't come from one of the Eds, I don't believe it.

Having said that, I will once again say that I would absolutely LOVE to see Brandt in a Liverpool kit.

3.) 20 Apr 2019 17:23:01
So are we ruling out a move for Simao?

4.) 20 Apr 2019 20:44:18
Unfortunately he missed his place on the Babelcopter.

5.) 20 Apr 2019 22:03:43
Thanks ed02. It's good to have context to some of your brief replies.

6.) 21 Apr 2019 06:10:07
How is young centre back Nathaniel Phillips progressing?

7.) 21 Apr 2019 05:42:23
Brilliant overview thanks.

8.) 21 Apr 2019 09:27:06
GK - Liverpool should look for someone who can be trusted, is older, homegrown and can help with the younger goalkeepers and youth coaching

Can't think anyone who suits.

9.) 21 Apr 2019 10:00:42
Pepe Reina 🙄.

{Ed002's Note - A good choice and that is what he is already doing for someone else.}

10.) 21 Apr 2019 11:09:31
What about Ben Foster? Would he be a good shout?

{Ed002's Note - I would doubt it.}

11.) 21 Apr 2019 19:58:10
Thanks edd 2 for this, much appreciated and thanks edd33 for reposting as I completely missed this.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks.}

12.) 22 Apr 2019 08:33:32
Heurherlo Gomes would be my pick.

13.) 22 Apr 2019 09:18:39
Thank you for the information, I hope you don't mind me copying and pasting to my Liverpool FC News and Rumours Facebook page. If you do i will happily delete it.

{Ed002's Note - I have no objections.}

14.) 22 Apr 2019 15:58:27
Ken Aguero surely his time has come to join the mighty Reds?

{Ed0333's Note - Simao is first name on that list.

15.) 22 Apr 2019 19:03:00
I believe we had interest in Nick Pope before he was injured, and before we acquired Alisson. Do you see him as a fit as a backup to Alisson, or given his age, will he likely want to play elsewhere where he can get more minutes?

{Ed002's Note - He will be heading elsewhere.)

16.) 23 Apr 2019 08:57:10
Do you not think Camacho will leave to Wolves on a perm? or do you reckon he will be loaned out?

{Ed002's Note - Sorry I missed him. As I said he will leave, he wants out. It may not be to Wolves though.}

New Ed002 Summer Liverpool FC Transfer Rumours Podcast.

Sharkopod 12

1.) 14 Mar 2017 17:33:02
Wow. A great listen ed thank you. I wish you hadnt of mentioned Dembelee though lol. He would be an amazing coup but now doubt lots of clubs looking at him.

{Ed002's Note - I am more than happy not to tell you about players Liverpool have looked at if that is what you want.}

2.) 14 Mar 2017 17:42:22
Noooo mate I didn't mean that. Im more than thankfull of your information and Sharkopods. Keep up the good work.

3.) 14 Mar 2017 17:53:21
Really enjoyed that thanks ed, just wondering any reason why you didn't mention centre backs?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Liverpool looking at centre backs - they have four first team centre backs plus one out on loan - Klopp said he wanted four at the start of the season - and that is what he has having added two in the Summer. If they were to sell then they would need toa dd someone.}

4.) 14 Mar 2017 18:09:02
very surprised, with our shocking defence this season i hope to see a quality centre back arrive in the Summer.

5.) 14 Mar 2017 18:28:44
Thanks once again ed002.

6.) 14 Mar 2017 18:42:54
Cheers Ed, appreciate the effort.

7.) 14 Mar 2017 20:07:25
thanks Ed002! love it.

8.) 14 Mar 2017 21:41:05
Ive listened to it 3 times now ed lol I love it and the music inbetween. Like I say Dembele excites me the most and I know you have said it would be hard to get a deal over the line but does it seem to you that he is the prefered option at this stage?

{Ed002's Note - I would think so.}

9.) 14 Mar 2017 21:53:51
Thanks for the update mate. I really appreciate it.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

10.) 14 Mar 2017 22:47:01
Thanks for all your ongoing great work Ed, really appreciated. In your opinion does any of these targets hinge on us getting champions league football or are they achievable regardless?

{Ed002's Note - They would take some persuading if there were no Europe at all.}

11.) 15 Mar 2017 04:31:25
thanks for taking the time to do that for us ed002, also loved the easy rider soundtrack, the byrds, the band and Hendrix, now that's what I call music! you educate us and entertain us at the same time.

{Ed002's Note - I have a buddy who wrote and performed one of the songs in Easy Rider and never got a cent from the movie.}

12.) 15 Mar 2017 07:01:55
Thanks for the update Ed002 appreciate the effort.
It's good to hear atleast the club starting to look at quality players
Although tad disappointed they aren't looking at Keita Balde of Lazio for the wing. He will be in the last year of his contract in the summer so can't be that overpriced and is a quality rapid attacker with good finishing.
Whoever gets him would be damn lucky I say.

{Ed002's Note - He is indeed moving this summer, but Liverpool has shown no interest.}

13.) 15 Mar 2017 13:35:48
YyyyyyyyyyyyyyeS! FINALLY! :)
And here I was about to do some actual work.
Now I get to get my shark on instead.
Cheers, Ed002!
Notebook and pen at the ready.

If you want to listen to the latest Liverpool FC transfer rumours then Ed002 has created their first podcast known as:

Sharkopod #1

1.) 12 Nov 2016 12:15:28
Legend ed2.

2.) 12 Nov 2016 13:27:19
Awesome! Really appreciate the transfer update and confirmation that you are indeed a male! I always thought sparky was a myth but I guess not. I did struggle to understand your accent a few times but I'm American so that's always the case 😂. I can only hope that if we were to lose coutinho or Firmino, the other one would stay. You mentioned Can; has he been gathering interest from elsewhere?

3.) 12 Nov 2016 14:06:32
Thanks so much ed002!

4.) 12 Nov 2016 15:07:27
Thanks ed002 now I know what a gentleman adventurer and part time rodeo clown sounds like, exactly as I thought as well lol.

5.) 12 Nov 2016 19:51:25
Cant wait to read all of those names on the various sites tomorrow.

6.) 13 Nov 2016 06:37:30
Thanks Ed,

Not too sure we really need anyone at the moment but if Klopp decides Hector would be an improvement on Can then who am I to argue!

Trust in Klopp.

7.) 13 Nov 2016 08:50:25
Ha thanks ed002, brilliant and I waited till the end to see if there might be a marvel style after credits moment.

{Ed002's Note - I was thinking of sneaking in a little something at the end.}

8.) 13 Nov 2016 10:00:41
Thanks ed2. Brilliant!

9.) 13 Nov 2016 17:00:17
Cracked for a while because of the Introduction.

Ok, the Liverpool rumours live chat is moving to approved posters only. That means you can read the live chat, but you can't post on live chat unless you're on the approved posters list.

If you're a regular and not on the below list, you can ask to be added to the Liverpool live chat approved posters list.

Below is the current list:

Alonso1786, ArAy1969, Bill, Boonx, canadianscouse, DAN-ISH, dbav, Elliott Ness, Endo3, Fowlersleftsock, hsf, JB12, JK23, JLC, Jerrin, Jiddon, Jimjim, johnnyr1970, Kman92, KoPeNdFaN, LFC-S MANGO, Leekuanyew, Liss, LiverpoolFC8, MIZER, MRobinson, Magico1234, Mcgoveb, Mr Bean, Paisley79, Red-Will-is-1, RedScarface, Reusch, Rome1977!, Rum Lad, SG8greatest, Salah, SamiKewell, Sanjit, Seano_, Shayan, SirWenger, Sofa_Fan, - Something Red -, StEtienneAmen, thehop95, The Irish Rover, Thomo121, Trip, Ugbes, ViktorVaughan, WYred, Wassa-lfc, Klopping, Pegleg, Zeddicus, 1985mikey1985, Bobby Banana, IDreamOfGin, Andros, Westwood666, snugglepool, Ron Keague

1.) 05 Feb 2024 12:51:47
What is this live chat everyone keeps talking about? I wouldn’t even know how to get on it!

Is it any good?

2.) 05 Feb 2024 11:11:12
Thanks, ED033. I don't watch games live anyway and only watch it recorded in the evening so Im all good, personally.

{Ed033's Note - Ok.

3.) 05 Feb 2024 13:20:38
This is great news ed033. ??.

{Ed033's Note - Thanks.

4.) 05 Feb 2024 13:24:42
Thats a great place during live games.

Yesterday wasn't a great time but it reflected our game very much.

Also good place to let out frustration. esp for games like yesterday.

YNWA.

5.) 05 Feb 2024 13:27:21
Thanks Ed33, I can't always get on but when I can it's interesting lol. BP it comes up at the top of this page mate and has a link you can access to direct you to the chat. On match days you will see it appear.

{Ed033's Note - Thanks.

6.) 05 Feb 2024 13:43:02
Thank god Koppers isn't part of the list, a person who shouldn't be anywhere near the site after yesterday and the way they spoke to Bill, disgusting. An approved user list will sort that problem out. Well played.

7.) 05 Feb 2024 13:45:13
Thanks Ed033. It's a shame and pity that anything on these sites have to become restrictive, because the beauty is that they're free and available to all. But "self-policing" by chatters doesn't work at times (like last night) . And like most times it's always one individual who is the spark and causes problems for the entire collective.

{Ed033's Note - Thanks.

8.) 05 Feb 2024 13:49:28
I have seen people talking about live chats a few times, but I really don't know where and how to access it! Sounds fun, thought. But I stay away :)

9.) 05 Feb 2024 14:16:33
Thanks Ed033, a big fan of the live chat. Yes it can get tetchy at times but that's what football can do to us. Don't get on as much as I used to but getting to discuss the game and share opinions with other fans really adds to watching the game from the comfort of your home!

10.) 05 Feb 2024 14:31:36
I dip in on the odd away game, because I'm lucky enough to be at most of the home games. I rise to the bait of some of the posters, who I swear can't be Liverpool supporters. This was the case during yesterday's game, when if you were new to football you'd have thought we were bottom of the table, judging by some of the posts. I appreciate football is a game of opinion, but.

11.) 05 Feb 2024 14:33:06
Thanks Ed 33, aye BP there's a link at the top of the banter page on match days - same regular cast tbh, almost like sitting at the pub with a bunch of friends. Lots of different opinions and jokes etc flying about. It can be depressing after a loss but it's the way it goes and unfortunately you get the odd (well the same) troll appearing but apart from that it's all good and all are welcome.

Oh, for any newbies to the live chat, we do have a thing where we all criticise Jota a lot on there - this is an inside joke as we've found he usually does very well off the back of such critique so if you see that there's no cause for concern, it's all good lol!

12.) 05 Feb 2024 14:49:02
So how do you get on the approved list?

{Ed033's Note - You submit some text saying something like, 'Please add me to the live chat approved list'.

13.) 05 Feb 2024 15:40:33
Salah, it is exactly because of how Kopper was talking to Bill and me, last night. Incredible, it was going on for almost an hour after the match had already ended. Bill has high self restraint and patience, my fuse is shorter unfortunately. ? Anyway, all good. The live chat is a great fun place during games, and I hope it continues to be.

14.) 05 Feb 2024 16:35:03
Peg leg if you send me your full name, account number, sort code and security pin I can sort it ?.

15.) 05 Feb 2024 16:43:35
I can vouch for JK23. Your details are safe in his hands ?.

16.) 05 Feb 2024 17:01:25
Alonso next seasons tickets are on me. Well they’ll be on Peg leg but you know what I mean ?.

17.) 05 Feb 2024 17:20:52
Jk23, inbox me and I’ll gladly give them to you.

18.) 05 Feb 2024 17:19:48
Ed33, please could you add me to the approved chat list group.

19.) 05 Feb 2024 17:39:17
Pls add me to approved list for live chat.

20.) 05 Feb 2024 17:40:30
Great idea Ed033, will make it a much less toxic atmosphere. And JK, Big John says ‘hi’!

Is it possible to get added to the list? I used to be on there a lot more, but when the kids started spamming it I backed off!

{Ed033's Note - Klopping, Pegleg, Zeddicus added

21.) 05 Feb 2024 18:07:32
Cheers ed.

22.) 05 Feb 2024 19:11:07
Aren’t most of the names on the approved list just Harry’s alter egos?

He’ll be having a chat with himself again - just like on the Man City banter site ?.

23.) 05 Feb 2024 19:53:47
Go on then add me.
Not been on for a while but now you’re cleaning it up it might be fun again.

24.) 05 Feb 2024 20:27:19
Good work Ed. Kopper was bang out of order to ArAy and Bill.

25.) 05 Feb 2024 19:09:12
Thanks Ed033.

26.) 05 Feb 2024 21:52:40
Zed, Harry's been conspicuously quiet of late. I wonder which other club's players he's been trashing. ?.

27.) 05 Feb 2024 23:56:53
I might just change my name to kopper and watch everyone lose their Siht ?.

28.) 06 Feb 2024 07:07:58
So we know what to do to get into the list. but what is the criteria for getting kicked off the list.

{Ed033's Note - 'Kopper' type posting on there.

29.) 06 Feb 2024 01:39:10
Please add me to the live chat approved list.

I am not that regular but get on when i can.

{Ed033's Note - Added

30.) 06 Feb 2024 03:35:42
Please add me to the live chat too Ed.

{Ed033's Note - Added

31.) 06 Feb 2024 09:49:18
Great idea Ed33, your hand was forced to take this action, but it's definitely the right thing to do as Kopper did get more and more difficult to ignore.

{Ed033's Note - Right.

32.) 06 Feb 2024 09:51:03
Hi Ed033, can I be added to the list. I promise to behave.

{Ed033's Note - Added.

33.) 06 Feb 2024 18:08:17
And me please Ed. I live in the midlands and not many LFC supporting friends so be good to be a part of it.

{Ed033's Note - Added.

34.) 06 Feb 2024 18:56:59
I haven't joined in awhile, but I'd love to be able to chat in this new wholesome venue. Please add me if you please!

35.) 06 Feb 2024 19:32:15
Excellent idea Ed ???.

Please add me to the live chat approved list Ed033.

I don’t get to as many matches these days so I often watch on the box.

No BarryinLouth? ?.

{Ed033's Note - Ron Keague added.

37.) 07 Feb 2024 11:55:56
Can't wait to see how Harry works his way into the chat now. or that Ballot character. or were they the same person?

@Ed33, I wasn't on the chat in the past game where Kopper gave the abuse that he did.
He normally sprouts major abuse at the players and Klopp, and this time I believe he directed it at some of the posters. either way, whilst we all get emotional during these tough games, I'd like to think that most of us can control ourselves

A difficult decision that you had to make, but the right one at the end of the day.

{Ed033's Note - i would say Harry and Kopper are not the same person.

38.) 07 Feb 2024 21:37:42
You looking for me Ron League?

{Ed001's Note - nobody is looking for you, other than the Garda, which is why you have been so quiet as there was no wifi while you were on the lam.}

39.) 08 Feb 2024 17:49:53

VAR image

Quo Vadis has written an article entitled, Another take on VAR

1.) 02 Oct 2023 20:08:47
Lovely body of work QV.
The key here is accountability. As long as they know the gravy train keeps rolling no matter how badly or unfairly VAR is used, it won't change.
How many occupations exist where "professionals" display ineptitude and gross incompetence on a regular basis but get to keep their jobs?
I know for a stone cold fact I'd have been handed a P45 by now.
The same standards should apply.

2.) 02 Oct 2023 20:16:52
Well written and a great perspective.

I'd like to see a comparison with the Championship on their levels of refereeing controversies compared to the Premier League. I don't follow the Championship so I don't have an opinion on that.

No excuses being made or offered for the debacle on Saturday, but the referees job is now harder than ever imo. I've said it before on here and I'll say again that the levels of injury feigning, falling to the ground, trying to get your oponent carded or sent off, etc., etc. are just making the job impossible. What used to be simple black and white situations has become so grey and controversial. Some might argue it's added dimensions of intrigue to games. I would argue they no longer play football in the spirit that was intended when the game was born. So for me the players have an obligation to play fair and be sportsmen representing their chosen sport. Won't happen I know money is now in charge.

What I do know is that without VAR, the goal by Diaz wouldn't have counted but Jones would have stayed on the pitch. So we would have won one and lost one and with it we lost both. So I would argue that without VAR, we would have gone on to get something from the match and in my opinion we'd now be top of the league and the Spurs bubble would be once again exposed.

One thing that needs to come out of this and I'm sure that it will, is a thorough review of protocols and I'd like to say a better product but how could it get any worse?

3.) 02 Oct 2023 20:37:44
I would add that I'm for scrapping VAR once the offside technology comes into play. I can see a big push for that beginning next season. I think we'd see a big drop off in play acting knowing the ref has already said "play on. "

The linesman should also allow VAR to make the calls when it's so close. These things happen at such speed that the human eye just can't accurately make those calls consistently or at all. The great Dickie Bird would have struggled lol. Keep the flag down unless you're absolutely certain and then wake up Darren England and his team and let them press "rewind. " That's assuming they've previously hit "record. "

4.) 03 Oct 2023 00:03:37
Only weathermen and football refs can get things wrong on a weekly basis yet get to keep their jobs.

5.) 03 Oct 2023 04:12:54
I can think of one or two other careers Darwin lol.

PL player of the season poll

30 Jan 2023 10:48:31
Ed001 was asked, What in your opinion is wrong and what mistakes is it that JK is making?

Ed001's reply was lengthy and posted as a temporary pinned note near the top of the discussion posts page.

1.) 30 Jan 2023 11:17:48
Thanks, Eds!

2.) 30 Jan 2023 10:59:14
Thanks Ed001, interesting reading. My first thought after reading, was "hey this couldn't have all happened at once, did it"? My sense is that it didn't. So how much responsibility do Klopp and staff have for not foreseeing or anticipating at least those things which are under their control?

{Ed001's Note - Klopp is the man in charge, so he has to take the responsibility. Though it also must be remembered that he is also the one that put us in a position to actually compete for and win things in the first place. Without him we would not have all this crying about falling away, we would not have been up there to fall to begin with.}

3.) 30 Jan 2023 11:55:45
Yes, Ed001, we've held him up to a level of excellence and very high regard because of what he has achieved (and all well deserved, as far as I am concerned) . The issue is the continuity of that excellence. Anyways, not trying to prolong a moot discussion, I just hope he gets things back right and moving, as before. And soon.

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed mate!!}

4.) 30 Jan 2023 12:02:03
Agreed ed001 that’s why no one should call for Klopp to be sacked. He gone is to the position of world’s best and should be allowed to see if he can do it again.

5.) 30 Jan 2023 12:49:07
Thanks for that Ed, very good read.

6.) 30 Jan 2023 12:51:22
I don't usually agree with your posts, Mark, but on this, I definitely do. People calling for Klopp's head aren't real fans imo.

7.) 30 Jan 2023 12:56:38
A great read and also highlights the lack of cohesion between our forwards. While the obvious excuse is that we have made some changes to our forward line with Lucho/ Darwin/ Cody, I would point to the fact that it was an issue last season between Sadio-Bobby-Mo last season too. An unpopular opinion but, this suggests to me that we do not work on attacking patterns at all.

8.) 30 Jan 2023 13:21:28
Hi eds1 did you mean our fitness department needs changing or it is getting changed? Also do you think Klopp knows what needs changing ie linders tactics.

{Ed001's Note - the medical department is already in the process of being rebooted as quite a few left.

I can't believe Klopp doesn't realise it is not working.}

9.) 30 Jan 2023 13:22:46
Yes a good read, an article in the Guardian today too that suggests the transition’ (that dreaded word lol) goes wider than the on-pitch issues but is club-wide, with personnel moving.
I do agree that Klopp has to be given time, 2 years or even until his contract expires.
It took a couple of seasons to get it right, though the graph was always an upwards one, and it may take another couple of seasons to do so again.
Though top 4 finishes will go a long way to helping this process, under FSG particularly.

10.) 30 Jan 2023 13:41:26
I think the main issue is that our forward aren't starting the press at all and that all started last season. They have been sitting back a lot more, letting the opposition defenders have the ball which is a stark difference to previously.

11.) 30 Jan 2023 14:35:22
He's tried to change it the last few games, so I think he has realised that Ljinders Ball is not the way to go. And given that Ljinders is still on the bench actively talking to Jurgen and the players, and not away sulking somewhere, one assumes he now realises it too. So hopefully that'll mean the coaching staff will pull in the same direction on this.

The midfield have been much more aggressive, although whether by accident (forward line just not clued in yet) or design, the focus of the press seems to be on restricting the opposition's ability to move it beyond their own DM position, rather than actively trying to dispossess them in their own third like it used to be.

Hasn't quite worked yet.

12.) 30 Jan 2023 14:38:43
Hi Ed, interesting read. On some of the back room aspects:

1. Is it just a drop in quality of the medical staff that's leading to so many lengthy injuries? or more on the training methods etc.

2. Something I've been thinking on, when it comes to scouting, are the actual scouts recommending players nowadays? or is it a case of Klopp saying "i want gapko, go scout him? ", wondering if there has been changes as our buys in the last 2 years don't seem to be on par to where we used to be!

{Ed001's Note - 1. The medical staff are being changed, we are still looking for a new head of medical. So it is probably not helping but it is more likely to be down to fitness.

2. Klopp doesn't direct the scouts, the scouts will look for players to recommend, usually more at the direction of the analysts.}

13.) 30 Jan 2023 16:31:29
I think Klopp does now realise the issues. The heavy Brighton defeat hurt him a lot. Nunez has been saved for the Wolves game and we will kick on from next week. Several players will be back very soon and then we can kick on.

I didn’t realise how bad you think everything is Ed. I think it’s never as bad as it seems. Look at Arsenal and Man U, a couple of good signings and a couple of the main players returning to form changes everything. The wins start coming, the confidence comes back and the opponent retreats.

14.) 30 Jan 2023 17:37:40
Thanks for your thoughts Ed001.

and its definitely bad Markp08, and both arsenal and united have been poor for something like 4 years with a massive amount of wasted investment, so hardly a quick fix.

I don't see us getting many more wins this year, there are few positives to be found. I guess our last hope is diaz and djota coming back.

15.) 30 Jan 2023 19:11:02
Yes Dean but both sides were still poor last year, so in one pre season they sorted out most of their issues.

16.) 30 Jan 2023 19:48:32
Klopp's first task needs to be to demote Ljinders, it seems also that maybe he is pushing back a bit with the signing of Gakpo, did he want him? Gakpo made his name ripping up the dutch league from the left, its his position, why not put Salah central, Elliott right and let Gakpo be Gakpo from the left, people are unbelievably already turning on him and its not his fault.

If somebody created a petition saying the above and it got 100,000 votes, would parliament have to discuss it?
