6 days to go!

On the 16th of June our Facebook page will go live to a charity match the site has organised, in aid of Seva and Macmillan nurses.
It will be a 3pm kick off!
Please share and like our page to support the boys taking part. We have one crowdfunded page on justgiving that raised £300 before prematurely ending so stay tuned for a new one setting up. We are hopeful to raise £1000 with this and the players match fees.

This is also the last call for anyone else who wants to play in the game held in north oxfordshire. Current players range from all abilities and ages! So do not feel you cannot contribute.

Text me on 07719565417 for more info!

Will ed001's "Just like watching brazil" better ed002's "Walham green east wapping, carpet cleaning rodent and boggit exterminating association"....FC?

Who is your money on?!

1.) 10 Jun 2018 21:47:19
Every time I see posts about this I kick myself because I lived in Oxfordshire but moved to Liverpool last year ;_;
Would have loved to play after work but would never make it there in time now xD

Good luck to everybody participating and ed2s players repeating that name haha.

2.) 10 Jun 2018 22:30:30
Going to be a struggle carving that name onto a trophy haha
Happy to donate and looking forward to watching the live stream.

3.) 10 Jun 2018 23:36:30
Would love to have made it from Ireland. Well done to all involved as it's for a great cause. Enjoy the day and be proud.

4.) 10 Jun 2018 23:41:46
How are you going to fit that team name on a jersey?

5.) 11 Jun 2018 01:37:23
I’m gutted, I was going to play and had it tied to when I was back in the uk ( I live in aus) my trip moved numerous times. I’ll be back in time but pulled a hamstring 2 weeks ago so can’t play regardless!

6.) 11 Jun 2018 06:26:45
Would have loved to play and show off my silky skills but unfortunately I won't be able to make it this time. If successful maybe we could make this an annual thing?

7.) 11 Jun 2018 18:09:13
Any chance to do some commentary from India, Ed001? xD.

Having spoken to the person who has been keeping me informed on this, to get clarity, I think it is time I gave the full explanation of what I am now being told. I am going to refer to the person as he/ him, just because it is easier rather than because it is a male.

So I have pestered him, because I wanted some clarification of the full story and to know if I am being deliberately fed misinformation to keep the club out of trouble. He claims that he is telling me exactly what he has been told, that there is no attempt to mislead me on his behalf, either knowingly or unknowingly. So this is basically the story as he gives it:

After matches Klopp will often chat with opposition players, just a friendly chat, nothing untoward, many managers will do it.

However, remarks were made to VVD along the lines of 'I would love to have you in my team' or similar when we have faced Southampton. Which VVD has obviously taken to heart, though we have no way of knowing if Klopp was making the first moves towards a signing or just making a throwaway remark regarding the player. So that could be seen as a problem in the light of following events, though would normally not even be noticed.

Anyway, last summer things were a bit unsettled there with Jose Fonte fighting to leave and it caused a few issues with a number of the players there, who felt Fonte was unfairly treated after his years of service to the club. There are a number of players there who did not like the treatment Fonte received and felt he should have been allowed to make his dream move, rather than held to his contract and then ended up in limbo before joining West Ham United just to get away from Saints. VVD has at this point made the decision he wants to go and asked his agent to put out feelers looking for interested parties.

We showed interest at this point, I don't have dates, I have never had any kind of dates to give, which is why I have never mentioned any, but I would assume this is just after the January window, as this was when he was disgruntled. However, instead of going direct to the club and seeking permission to speak to them and him over a summer move, we spoke directly to the agent.

Now our excuse, which is why I am told the club immediately backed out and apologised, is that we were told the agent and player came to us with Saints' blessing. I will leave you to make up your own mind over the truth of that claim, as I really do not know. I have no way to verify that information one way or the other.

To cut a long story short, the player, agent and club sorted out a deal, then and only then do LFC go to Saints to negotiate a price. That is when all hell broke loose and Soton investigated, made a complaint etc.

That is how he explained it to me, but I have no way to verify any of it, which is why I am giving you a full version as he tells it. In the past he has been reliable, though he has often asked me not to pass on things, the info he has given had checked out. This time I am not sure though, this feels too neat and like someone is trying to shift the blame. Either way the club is at fault for not ensuring they had permission to speak to the player.

1.) 08 Jun 2017 06:43:11
Make you right ed001 with it sounding to contrived but it does not mean what he has said is not the truth. Like you say it's not difficult to follow the correct way of approaching a transfer a club either says yes or no what is the problem. Baffling really still men in suits are never the smartest.
Up the pool.

{Ed001's Note - I just don't understand why the club still has this issue. We do not need to act underhand, the club is, in terms of brand power, according to those that measure these things, ahead of all but Man Utd in English football. We should not need to be underhand to attract quality players. They should want to play for us because of who we are. So just concentrate on getting the right deal with their current club, then worry about convincing the player.}

2.) 08 Jun 2017 06:48:37
Qyestion for the Eds, not just about this event. What is the situation regarding speaking to agents. As i understand it agents put feelers out to other clubs and that is ok. In those circumstances i assume it is ok for a club to speak to the agent. If that has happened can the club contact the agent again for further discussions? Is it a case of the player basically can't be in the room with them? Or more complicated, e. g. you can't talk beyond a certain point even with the agent? Thanks.

{Ed025's Note - if a club wish to talk to a player who is under contract at a club then they must inform the parent club for permission DL, anything less is seen as "tapping up" even if its done through the agent mate..

3.) 08 Jun 2017 06:55:11
Shame Ed, at the very least I hope the club learn a lesson, I think we're sailing very close to the wind with our transfer activity.

4.) 08 Jun 2017 07:00:49
Thanks Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - anytime mate..

5.) 08 Jun 2017 07:05:44
Its the premier league response that intreagues me. Would it not be the case that if they thought we were genuinely guilty of wrong doing on purpose then just an apology from us would be irrelevant?

{Ed025's Note - i must say that you make a fair point slowdog, maybe we have not heard the last of it yet mate..

6.) 08 Jun 2017 07:15:27
We have read news that VVD agent also spoke to Conte and Pep; that would have constituted tapping too right?

{Ed001's Note - no, you are missing the point, the intermediary can speak to others, it is the player himself that is unable to discuss things.}

7.) 08 Jun 2017 07:17:07
Do you think this is the end of the saga with LFC and VVD ed?

{Ed001's Note - depends on what Saints think. If they are satisfied with the apology and us backing away, then yes. Though a lot comes down to VVD himself as well.}

8.) 08 Jun 2017 07:31:15
If Saints had any decency, they'd accept the apology and move on. Liverpool acted underhandedly but, judging from ed001's post, not in a deliberate way. It's not like the club had been scheming to prevent a bidding war that Southampton were entitled to.

9.) 08 Jun 2017 07:30:15
Thank you for letting us know the situation ED001, we appreciate it!

I was on these pages when the whole Clint Dempsey saga happened and it's beyond belief that the club can act in such a amateurish fashion! Or is it arrogance on the clubs part?

Considering how many times we have dealt with Southampton over the past few years makes this surprising as well as irritating to say the least!

Again, thanks for keeping us in the loop Ed.

{Ed001's Note - it feels like arrogance to me, believing they can do what they want with no consequence.}

10.) 08 Jun 2017 07:35:05
Hey ED001. Is the extent to which the VVD deal played out in the media seen as a massive issue by the club? I know this doesn't excuse the club's behaviour but the extent to which transfer info is leaked is quite extraordinary. Similarly a lot has been written bout the Salah deal. Can the club not conduct business in a private professional manner, or is it just the case that this not easily done in modern football? Thanks Ed.

{Ed001's Note - it is always a concern, the club put a lot of effort into keeping things quiet in the past, hence the Jen Chang thing. Now it has gone back to the old flood of info coming out. It is not easy to keep things quiet, but it certainly should not be coming out in the amounts LFC are producing it.}

11.) 08 Jun 2017 07:35:11
eds i know this is an outrageous idea/ thought, but truth be known the window don't open until july between now and then the saints accept the apology after believing because of the blame game as you said, that the tapping up was accidentally stupid, could liverpool get the deal sorted and pay more as in a way to save face or is it just a stupid thought.

{Ed001's Note - it could happen and has happened in the past. The likelihood is that we will not pay the price regardless.}

12.) 08 Jun 2017 07:37:52
Nice one ed.

{Ed001's Note - welcome and RITH is wrong. The whole point of speaking to a player is to cut out the whole auction aspect of transfers by ensuring you get the best price with the player only wanting to join you.

As for Saints, they have done nothing wrong and RITH is just showing how bitter he is by constantly deflecting and blaming the victim.}

13.) 08 Jun 2017 07:57:21
Thanks for the info Ed. Legend.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

14.) 08 Jun 2017 08:03:54
Ed 1 - you make some great points here. We were discussing it in the pub last night and I think the consensus of opinion was that tapping up players has always gone on and always will to some degree. It is maybe a bit easier to hide behind agents and third parties these days than it was years ago but I think even an indirect approach - I. e. To an agent is tapping up. I know clubs often give players agents approval or even instructions to find a new club for a player maybe even with guidelines as to what a sell price may be. More often than not all of the above happens in secret.

You make a very good point that too much information seems to be leaked out of LFC and whilst it seems clear that the club has acted beyond what can be excusable (I. e. A sounding out of an agent etc. ) and especially with meeting the player directly, the leaks to the press in my view is what has really caused the most problems.

I hope there is a full investigation internally and these internal problems are fixed now or we could have a long summer of problems in the transfer market.

{Ed001's Note - not just a long summer, it will be the same every transfer window until we fix the internal problems.}

15.) 08 Jun 2017 08:10:12
Is there any suggestion that there will be any internal disciplinary actions taken by the club towards any LFC staff involved in the transfer Ed001? Do you think the VVD events will see Liverpool changing their approach to transfers and lack of professionalism? If nothing changes or there isn't an acceptance that change is needed then that would really stink of arrogance.

{Ed001's Note - the first thing that will happen is likely to be an internal investigation to examine what went on, what the club did wrong and what the club did right. That analysis will have to lead to changes or this summer will be nothing compared to how bad things will get for the club in the future.}

16.) 08 Jun 2017 08:15:14
It's all just so distasteful. Look at what Lukaku is doing to them across the park. Young men who get paid millions to play a sport they love and show this kind of disrespect to their employers. Regardless of whether Liverpool's conduct was really dodgy or just downright dumb, I really do not like to see these spoiled players showing such an extreme lack of loyalty to the shirt and fans they represent. If I wanted to leave my job and go to a bigger company, I would have the decency to go to my boss and tell him to his face. Of course, I don't have a greedy agent trying to drum up a sale to line his own fat palm with silver.

17.) 08 Jun 2017 08:15:37
What does this mean for the player himself ed001? Is he also facing the prospect of a ban? Maybe not by his parent club who might not be able to afford it, but by the governing body.?

{Ed001's Note - it is unlikely to lead to any kind of ban for the player. His issue is that the club themselves could freeze him out and leave him in limbo and his chance to get a big move could go.}

18.) 08 Jun 2017 08:32:25
We appreciate you sharing your info ed, as you have already hinted i think this is standard practice for the americans and i can't see any follow up action apart from a public telling off and a private don't get caught next time.

With regards to vvd we were always going to get our pants pulled down over this deal so maybe its the best outcome overall aside from the massive embarassment.

Moving forward through this window at any rate we must do it correct though because i shudder to think what punishment the club will get if its caught doing the same thing twice in the same window.

Do you think this will have any bearing on players we are targeting not wanting to come considering we have left vvd high and dry?

{Ed001's Note - it is common practice in business in general, end justifies the means for most companies.

That is a good point you raise, other players are going to be wary of dealing with us, if we leave VVD high and dry now.}

19.) 08 Jun 2017 08:32:27
Cheers Ed001. We've not covered ourselves in glory here at all, shambolic behaviour and unprofessionalism is what is smacks of.

20.) 08 Jun 2017 08:42:11
So just reiterating what has been in the press.

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea. I do not read the press.}

21.) 08 Jun 2017 08:44:32
Thank you for the swift response Ed. Much appreciated mate. And thank you for all the hard work! This promises to be a window like no other for you guys! All the best :) .

{Ed001's Note - not sure it is like no other. This seems to have become a recurring theme.}

22.) 08 Jun 2017 09:11:00
Thanks eds for the info. Really appreciate your time forwarding your knowledge on this situation.

23.) 08 Jun 2017 09:30:25
Agree with Max, thanks Ed, appreciate you sharing the info.

{Ed001's Note - cheers Lj.}

24.) 08 Jun 2017 10:25:18
Thanks Eds for the in depth post, we all appreciate it on here, we'd all be clueless if it wasn't for you lot.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}

25.) 08 Jun 2017 11:52:37
Thanks for the info Ed's, but I have to ask, why is it so hard to do it properly, whether the agent instigated it or not? Even if the agent said that the player is doing it with his club's blessing, how hard is it to confirm that with the club? Something is really wrong somewhere within the club and it's not rocket science how it can be fixed!

{Ed001's Note - it is not that hard at all.}

26.) 08 Jun 2017 12:10:38
Ed is part of the problem that the powers of be just aren't from football background? Is it just simple naivity from people that don't know? Most if not all of our top brass are from everywhere BUT football. Is it just me being naive?

{Ed001's Note - very few clubs have top brass from a footballing background.}

27.) 08 Jun 2017 12:11:08
What was Fonte's dream move ED001?

{Ed001's Note - to play for Mourinho.}

28.) 09 Jun 2017 13:45:14
Ed001, Good of you to give us the detail, but I don't think you have to explain things. Everyone said this was going to happen, but then it turned out we built the house on sand, so things fell apart.

You guys run a really interesting site, and try to give us interesting insights. Sometimes things will go pear shaped. doesn't change things, you are giving us your honest (sometimes very honest) view on things. If it was called Liverpool-transfer-facts. co. uk, then that would be different, but I for one enjoy the site, and appreciate you guys giving us the insights that you do (although sometimes I cringe from the tongue lashings delivered :-) ) . If you will forgive me, part of the fun of this site is just like buying the euro millions ticket. the 2 days dreaming about what it would be like if Messi signed brings a smile and some joy, even if the reality is, it is never going to happen. BTW . any chance of Messi :-)

On a different note, I find it really hard to fathom how we can get ourselves into these situations. I have nothing to do with football, but I know you need permission from the other club before you speak to the player. I know from life, that if a middle man says "trust me this is all legit", then that is when you run for the hills. SO, this is either supreme arrogance (which I would hate for my football club, but I accept it is possible), or supreme naivete. I am not sure which is worse.

Thanks for all you guys do, I am looking forward to my near hourly visits to the site during the window!

Very good . Gives us an insight on players with their situations and some we won't know much about . Very good !!

08 Mar 2015 18:12:53
So what do you think will happen in the summer then Ed002?

{Ed002's Note - Much of this will change by the summer and there are major dependencies on (a) players leaving (b) how much money the club can raise through sales (remembering that Liverpool will be probably be looking to sell players by January to offset FFP issues), and (c) Champions League qualification. However, there is known to be (or have recently been) some level of interest in the following players:

GK: Ochoa, Neto, Sportiello (unconfirmed at this time), Romero, Ryan, Ruddy. The club have also looked at many others.
RB: Danilo (certainly won't happen). I am not sure what will happen to Wisdom. I suspect a new deal for Flanagan but if Manquillo and Johnson both leave then the club will look for a new RB. If Rodgers remains as manager it is not out of the question that Ibe may be tried in a wing back role. Alternative is that MAnquillo stays and RB is no longer a priority.
CB: I suspect a new deal will be offered to Toure and the club will have to have a clear out of CBs in any case. I doubt a CB is a priority.
MF: Milner, Khedira, Pjanic (outrageously expensive), Vazquez
F/W: Ings, Vietto, Gameiro, Baez (a WP would be an issue initially), Kishna (I understand that old interest has been rekindled but it is hard to see how he would fit in), Lacazette (not going to happen). Two other players the club were interested in - Bakkali (I suspect Liverpool have stepped back from their interest like many other clubs) and Andre Ayew (a free agent who Liverpool enquired about last summer - no obvious interest right now but it may return).

If Liverpool do qualify for the Champions League and if further funds can be made available through sales, it would not be out of the question for Liverpool to look to one of the following as an option:

GK: Cech
MF: Carvalho, Turan
F/W: Benzema

And who would be my choice of players who will be available?

GK: Handanovic
RB: Germain
CB: Balanta - Caniggia wanted Liverpool to move for Balanta more than two years ago - and he has got better. Rogers ignored the advice. He shouldn't have done. If Liverpool need a CB
MF: Matuidi, Morgan Sanson
F/W: Mitrovic - I don't see a long term future for Lambert and Mitrovic would give Liverpool a very good option that they are missing right now. Rodgers will regret using the words "Origi" and "world-class" in the same sentence. }

1.) 08 Mar 2015 19:06:20
Interesting read, thanks Eds.

2.) 08 Mar 2015 22:03:31
Great work, eds. This is what this site is all about, just a shame it gets hindered by the trolls from time to time!

Cheers,

3.) 09 Mar 2015 00:27:59
Realistically we're only looking to add one in each position right, Eds? So say we signed Ings, Vietto would then be out of the question?

I'd love Khedira but worry about his injury record so can't see FSG taking such a risk.
Would the signings of Romero, Milner, Ings and possibly a battle for Carvalho if we make top 4 seem like a realistic scenario come the summer Eds?

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation as I understand it. I cannot sensibly answer questions about different combinations of the players.}

4.) 09 Mar 2015 02:53:55
Thanks a lot ed fot that reply

5.) 09 Mar 2015 07:21:48
Brilliant work Ed001, seducing Ed002 to spill the beans. Was it that "humongous" backside that did the trick?

Also, which Vazquez and Germain are these?

{Ed002's Note - Lucas and it should be Matteo Darmain.}

6.) 09 Mar 2015 07:22:06
Taking into account our finances I completely agree with your choises Ed002 (with exception of Sanson who I haven't seen enough). I will add Luis Adriano to forward list.

{Ed002's Note - I am a little surprised that there is no firm interest from Liverpool, AC Milan or Arsenal in Adriano at this time. It should be Darmain not Germain.}

7.) 09 Mar 2015 07:22:22
great post Ed002. i would like to know if we are really interested in morgan sanson of montpellier? i watched montpellier games few times and he looked a class midfielder and ran the show. i think he will be perfect for liverpool.

{Ed002's Note - No, he would be my choice of player from who will be available.}

8.) 09 Mar 2015 04:28:55
Brilliant views Ed002 thanks!. saves endless questions about targets!, but what about ED001? Care to add anything?

{Ed001's Note - not a lot to add to that, I do believe we have decided against Ryan, despite his agent's best efforts to get him a move, he simply is not good enough for the top leagues and so will probably move to a low end team in Spain or Italy.
Bakkali we were discussing on the editor's widget and I did mention to the other editors yesterday that the feeling is that he is 'difficult' and best avoided.
Turan will again be looking to join us, but I doubt we will have the finances required sadly.
Mostly it is going to be about moving players out to buy new ones, though the removal of Johnson and Gerrard does clear up any issues with the wage bill being too high. It is just that we have to avoid building up debt while the stadium is being rebuilt, so it is going to be a time to be careful with our spending. Thankfully the new TV deal will mean we can sell to buy, rather than having to sell to pay for the stadium.}

9.) 09 Mar 2015 10:12:41
Great response from Ed2 and comments from Ed.

That's what makes this site the best around.

Superb

10.) 11 Mar 2015 06:12:36
Liverpool need to make Ed002 DOF now.

Ed001's banter posts with other poster's replies to Ed001's banter posts

Just a quick question for you all, I don't know how many (if any of you) read the review of the day news round up I do each day, but on a Monday I used to do an 'And Finally. ' section on the end with footballing anecdotes based around a theme. After chatting with a group of people on here, they have requested I turn that into a separate longer article that I do regularly.

Anyway, for those that are interested in reading it, what kind of anecdotes would you be interested in:

Would you like it to just stick to football only?

Would you be interested in any sports-based anecdotes?

Or would you want it to also include slightly unrelated anecdotes as well? As in just something funny (well I hope it would be funny anyway! ) that came to mind.

1.) 09 Dec 2018 19:25:49
If they’re jokes about the other Ed’s I’m in.

In fact, a good idea would be a roast of Ed’s among Ed’s.

{Ed0333's Note - there is absolutely no way I’d participate in a roast with Ed’s 001. I’m a married man.

2.) 09 Dec 2018 20:35:04
It’s not the anecdote, it’s who delivers it that makes it good. That said, you probably shouldn’t do it 😂.

3.) 09 Dec 2018 21:55:06
I really enjoy reading the "and finally" bit on a Monday Ed. I'd be happy for you to mix up the anecdotes with anything mate, not just football.

4.) 09 Dec 2018 18:44:13
Anything for me Ed mate, would be good if you could do none football ones too for a change from time to time.

{Ed001's Note - ok cheers mate.}

5.) 09 Dec 2018 18:47:28
Anything you fancy Ed's, there's a whole world out there away from footy.

{Ed001's Note - ok mate thanks.}

6.) 09 Dec 2018 18:54:44
Mainly football with a mix of other sports thanks ed.

{Ed001's Note - thank you.}

7.) 09 Dec 2018 19:00:32
More articles? Yes please Ed!
Appreciate the effort and time you put into your reviews and round ups. A funny story or two wouldn't hurt in my opinion, whether it's football related or not doesn't make a difference. Will be reading them regardless!

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}

8.) 09 Dec 2018 19:14:45
I would like any. Football, sports, funny. Thanks eds.

{Ed001's Note - ok thank you mate.}

9.) 09 Dec 2018 19:17:13
Any sport anecdotes would be great to read! i've really enjoyed all of your boxing articles as well as the football ones so I'm sure you've got a few more great sport stories to tell.

I don't post as often as I used to but I read every article you wrote Ed1!

{Ed001's Note - ok thanks George, does seem to be the consensus to open it beyond footie. Which is good for me as it makes it easier to put them together.}

10.) 09 Dec 2018 19:36:24
You are quite the wordsmith so the more topics the merrier I say.

{Ed001's Note - cheers negs, but be careful that sounds entirely positive!}

11.) 09 Dec 2018 19:49:50
Hi ed001, personally I always love them regardless of "type".
Depending on your bank of available stories, how about one each every Monday to celebrate slow news day and end of weekend?

{Ed001's Note - that is what I was hoping to do, but have to see how it goes in terms of time in the busy periods.}

12.) 09 Dec 2018 19:53:30
Full Trevor McDonald mode. anything at all.

{Ed001's Note - is Trevor McDonald still going? I hope so, I always liked him.}

13.) 09 Dec 2018 20:51:59
I love your Monday reviews Ed, I think you’ve shown you have such a massive range of football anecdotes but I wouldn’t be averse to you broadening that! I’d say you could alternate by week - football one week, something else (be it another sport or something different entirely) the next and alternate? Would that be something you’d be open to doing?

{Ed001's Note - yes mate. I could certainly do something like that.}

14.) 09 Dec 2018 20:59:11
Can’t wait Ed. I read it for the football but wouldn’t mind a few other bits and pieces. Maybe some six degrees of separation style things that start and begin with the beautiful game but bring in other things you’ve got on your mind.

{Ed001's Note - that was how I was intending to do it. Start on football and then just follow it down the rabbit hole, so to speak....}

15.) 09 Dec 2018 22:10:42
Anything you think is funny or interesting ED. Mix it up a bit. I'm sure we'll all enjoy it.

{Ed001's Note - cheers Razor, I certainly hope so!}

16.) 09 Dec 2018 23:47:31
Anything mate, I just like the little known nuggets that you manage to find. To be honest, if you just stuck to football you’d probably end up just trawling for hours trying to find stuff after a while anyway.

{Ed001's Note - that is my worry, it would start off easy, but a couple of weeks in the anecdotes would dry up.}

17.) 09 Dec 2018 23:57:56
All different sports ed.

{Ed001's Note - cheers Roro.}

18.) 10 Dec 2018 02:33:31
Anything sports related ed, funny, sad, inspiring does not matter as long as there is something to read.
Now a days you don't get great resource to read on sports everywhere. One has to dig for them on the net in between millions of garbage.

{Ed001's Note - These Football Times usually has a good read and Bleacher Report does a long read article every so often that is usually good as well (unlike a lot of the dross on their site). Just to give you a couple of other options.}

Bournemouth v Liverpool - A Liverpool Perspective

09 Dec 2018 18:14:53
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Bournemouth v Liverpool - A Liverpool Perspective

1.) 09 Dec 2018 18:27:56
Great reading as always Ed001, thanks for all the effort you put into these. You've mentioned before that we haven't played the high intensity football we saw last year as it can't be sustained over a season, this was the first match I've seen where we hounded every Bournemouth player almost 3 on 1 every time they had possession. Do you think this is Klopp turning up the energy for the rest of the season, or just the way he set up to play Bournemouth?

{Ed001's Note - I think it is a bit of both. I think he is beginning to crank it up slightly anyway, but also he sees it as the way to beat Bournemouth so asked for a bit more of it.}

2.) 09 Dec 2018 19:11:47
I think with napoli and United next was also a good way to up the tempo and get ready for some massive games for this season.

3.) 09 Dec 2018 19:12:35
Many have said that we have missed Oxlade this season, and in the past two games since Keita has come into the team, we look much more like the team of last season. Not neccasarily in the pressing or the intensity, but just the general quality of attacking play has got better. Fabinho and Keita are definitely the way forward for the rest of the season imo.

4.) 09 Dec 2018 19:38:50
We've clearly missed Ox this season. We've been depending entirely on aerial attacks and going up the flanks, whereas going up the center of the field (which for me is far more threatening) has been missing.

5.) 09 Dec 2018 20:34:55
Thanks for the reply, I thought it looked a lot more like our workrate of last season watching the game. Completely agree that we miss the Ox, but flashes of brilliance from Keita yesterday makes me think that we'll have two quality players in the same role in the future.

6.) 09 Dec 2018 21:13:01
Great write up as always!

7.) 09 Dec 2018 19:00:58
Ed001, would you agree that we have the best right-hand side in the league as in TAA/ Gomez, Shaqiri and Salah or do you think ManC's Walker, Bernardo Silva and Sterling is better?

{Ed001's Note - well Walker is a liability, but Trent is not the best defensively either. However Trent offers more in the final third. If Salah plays on the right, then yes ours is the most effective. If it is Shaqiri, then I am not so sure.}

8.) 09 Dec 2018 20:08:40
Once again Ed001 many thanks for the game review as you know I look forward to reading them and I must admit I agree with everything you said
As for your “And Finally” posts I’d personally prefer just football posts but that’s just my opinion and I’d read them anyway whatever you put up
Oh and as I don’t post that much I’d like to wish all the posters and Edds a happy Xmas and a peaceful new year.

{Ed001's Note - ok cheers mate. Merry Chrimbo and a Happy New Year to you too.}

9.) 09 Dec 2018 22:15:11
Great read as usual, Ed. The game was a model in effectiveness, professionalism, poise and humility. Our boys went out with a game plan and executed it perfectly without any hassles. I also noticed the way we pressed Bournmouth in the half spaces and this paralyzed them cos they could never get going. All in all, 4 goals, clean sheet, 3 points, top of the league, only unbeaten side in all 4 divisions and on to Napoli. BOOM!

10.) 10 Dec 2018 05:09:32
Oke, thanks Ed001. Yes I was referring to Salah on the right, Shaqiri below him in midfield and TAA or Gomez as FBs.

{Ed001's Note - Salah is so much better than any other forward in the Premier League on form, that whichever area of the field he plays is the strongest on the pitch. Usually he has 3 players marking him, so it opens up acres for TAA to exploit. Salah is that good.

So yes, we are stronger there when he is out there. It is not really even a contest, to my mind anyway. Salah is light years ahead of the rest. Though Sterling has come on in leaps and bounds recently, he is no Salah.}

{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 9th December 2018

1.) 09 Dec 2018 08:49:23
Morning eds.
thanks for the review
Do you know if lovren is fit for tue. Also nice to be top how long for I don’t know but that’s enjoy 👌🏻.

{Ed002's Note - Probably not.}

2.) 09 Dec 2018 08:54:55
Cheers Ed, have a good one mate!

{Ed001's Note - just a short one today. And I notice I forgot to include the story about Perez's foot to go with the picture, doh!}

3.) 09 Dec 2018 09:50:51
are you going to share the story ed lol.

{Ed001's Note - it was not even that interesting. Just about the fans being upset at him being taken off and there being a lot of moaning, so he uploaded a picture of the reason, which was that hole in his foot.}

4.) 09 Dec 2018 10:06:58
to be fair that's a fairly gammy foot!

5.) 09 Dec 2018 10:25:13
Hahaha makes sense now Ed, I'd wondered what the picture was about lol.

{Ed001's Note - apologies.}

6.) 09 Dec 2018 10:42:04
Nah no worries mate.

{Ed001's Note - nice pic though I thought.}

7.) 09 Dec 2018 11:05:00
Cheers for that ed, you shot yourself in the foot with that pic- I’ll get my coat.

{Ed001's Note - I hope that didn't take you long to come up with, though you did have 2 hours+ after your first post....}

8.) 09 Dec 2018 11:39:12
Well ed, I’ve currently a number one comedy book topping three bestsellers categories as I type this witty reply. BOOM! *drops the mic, rubs away giggling like an idiot, and trips up on some discarded credibility.

{Ed001's Note - that is severely worrying. It just shows the difference between wit and humour I guess....}

9.) 09 Dec 2018 12:03:42
Never underestimate the monetary value of knock knock jokes ed 🤣🤣🤣.

{Ed001's Note - that is a much higher level than the gags on here anyway!}

10.) 09 Dec 2018 14:43:41
Thanks for update Ed. Sorry I’ve been AWOL recently. I hope the Chelsea fans are hit hard for the abuse. Just disgusting behaviour. Sad for football sad for everyone. Really pees me off.

11.) 09 Dec 2018 16:55:23
Why did the chicken cross the road?
To see the idiot.

.

Knock knock.
Who’s there?
The chicken.

1.) 08 Dec 2018 08:37:42
Thanks very much Ed, have a good one mate.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}

2.) 08 Dec 2018 09:18:18
Cheers Ed. Killie even featuring on your review of the day, they're everywhere just now!

{Ed001's Note - I had to triple check to make sure they really were top of the league when I wrote that....}

3.) 08 Dec 2018 10:07:25
Whats your thoughts on the arsenal players ed?

{Ed001's Note - seems an odd thing to do, you would think they would know better but footballers are idiots.}

4.) 08 Dec 2018 10:27:47
Thanks Tris! Looking at the date has reminded me it’s me mam’s birthday! Better nip out and get a card!

Happy Birthday Mum!

(She doesn’t come to this site but I can always prove I remembered! )

Z.

{Ed001's Note - if you are only buying the card on the day, then you remembered too late....}

5.) 08 Dec 2018 10:31:58
I can drop it round later 😉.

{Ed001's Note - yes but you have now drawn her attention to the fact you remembered late by mentioning it on here.....}

6.) 08 Dec 2018 11:39:50
I have to triple check every day ed, i still remember when they were top after 8 games in 1998. It's tough being a killie fan!

{Ed001's Note - it would be, it means you are Scottish for starters, so you were obviously born unlucky!}

7.) 08 Dec 2018 12:40:43
If anyone sees a poster using ‘Zed’s Mum’ tell me - quickly!

Burnley v Liverpool - A Liverpool Perspective

07 Dec 2018 09:14:30
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Burnley v Liverpool - A Liverpool Perspective

1.) 07 Dec 2018 09:53:58
Thanks for doing these mate, I really look forward to them and love hearing your thoughts!

{Ed001's Note - thanks mate, that makes it worth doing them.}

2.) 07 Dec 2018 10:24:47
Agree on all ratongs for the LFC players. Tho I would give Origi 6 or 6.5 as for me he did pretty well for a guy who haven't played competitive football in a while, got an assist aswell.

3.) 07 Dec 2018 10:26:55
Brill as always Ed, I agree with all of it especially about Moreno, Keita and Sturridge. Sturridge's 4 rating seems too generous but fair lol we have to remain fair I suppose. Overall a bloody terrible game from him, he was winding me up.

Keita was top notch, with him starting that game it makes me wonder if we'll save him for Napoli or start him tomorrow as well, either way he needs to start more games because I think he's finally found his feet here, he was by far the best player on the pitch for me.

Thanks Ed, appreciate these mate they're always fair and well thought out. Quality.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, Sturridge did do some good things, which almost made up for his cowardice.}

4.) 07 Dec 2018 10:54:00
Good read Ed001.

We only had a conversation the other day regarding Keita. I know it was only Burnley but he looked really good.

{Ed001's Note - he was excellent, needs to play more now.}

5.) 07 Dec 2018 11:57:29
Cheers Ed, like the new style reviews.

Does anybody know what Dyche’s beef was with Klopp at the end? Liverpool players did nothing wrong, nor did Klopp. Can only think he was miffed there was no diving to complain about or that his team threw away the lead and Klopp did not allow for the plucky underdog to prevail.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}

6.) 07 Dec 2018 11:59:00
Typically brilliant Ed. Alisson though, what a player he is!

In view of the short turnaround Ed, what would you do with our RB situation? Play Trent for next 3 games, fitness permitting? Really hope Lovren is fit though.

{Ed001's Note - stick with Trent, he is young enough to cope.}

7.) 07 Dec 2018 11:59:54
I do not always agree to all the player ratings. But, I eagerly look forward to reading the reviews. They are so insightful and give a fresh and rounded perspective to the performances. My visits to the site go up a few notches right after a game. Please keep them coming. Much appreciated.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}

8.) 07 Dec 2018 12:30:14
True Ed almost mate, almost. Maybe just one of them games for him, it happens of course. I reckon we'll see more of him especially this month, it'll be interesting.

{Ed001's Note - I just wish he would not bottle out, those 'dives' Dyche complained about were not really dives, it was him jumping out of the way of a tackle. If he is not able to take the physicality of the sport, then he really should make a move to somewhere they do not expect physical contact, like Spain or Italy. I like Studger a lot, but it is a contact sport and he cost us time and again by avoiding challenges and that is a problem for the team.}

9.) 07 Dec 2018 13:07:27
Rarely comment on these reviews
But I have never missed one after a match. Part of my read up routine.

I'm sure there are many more like me so on behalf of them thank you ed .

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate, glad you enjoy, that is all that matters, but thanks for letting me know.}

10.) 07 Dec 2018 13:12:57
Thanks is ed brilliant as always! How long can the refereeing stay this poor.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, though Kavanagh gave me hope for the future, as he is a new ref, so maybe the next wave of them will be better.}

11.) 07 Dec 2018 13:40:26
Thanks Ed. These are your most anticipated articles. What do you think about our set up for defensive free kicks. It looks too easy for clever players to come from deeper and time their run to get behind for a very decent chance. Makes me nervous and feel we ride our luck on those?
Enjoying the results and league position!

{Ed001's Note - if they get the timing right it would make no difference what we did anyway. The point is that it gives Alisson time and space to see what is happening and loose balls can be easily mopped up by him. If you drop off deep, then you run the risk of the ball being in the back of the net before he has even seen it.}

12.) 07 Dec 2018 13:48:14
A great read as always Ed001 - enjoyed the Burnley review too, was interesting to read your thoughts on our opposition as much as us.

I have one issue - I think you marked Alisson pretty low with 7.5! I felt he was exceptional, that save and then quick thinking to launch the counter for our third goal was something I don't think any other PL GK would have pulled off - and you are right, he was absolutely fouled for Burnley's goal and they were offside so he should be celebrating another clean sheet.

Also, as a stat guy - Alisson has now equalled Javier Mascherano's record of 15 PL games unbeaten at the start of their career with us! I honestly believe that with another GK, that wouldn't have happened - he's been great from day one.

{Ed001's Note - but the issue is that he did not have that much effect on the game overall, as they were not good enough to test him. It is about their positive or negative effect overall rather than how well they play.}

13.) 07 Dec 2018 14:05:33
Fair enough Ed, I suppose it's always hard for a GK to have enough of an impact on a game to get an 8+ rating, especially when Burnley only had 3 shots on target, one of which was after a foul!

{Ed001's Note - exactly mate. If they are having that much of an effect, it means the rest of the team were crap.}

14.) 07 Dec 2018 14:26:11
Thanks for the review Ed001. What is worrying me is Clyne playing for TAA given the 2 games per week schedule we have this month. TAA maybe capable of playing all games but I doubt very much that Klopp will let him do it. Too much risk of fatigue and injury.

You were right, as many of us thought also, about Keita. He finally showed the kind of form he had in Germany, and I have no doubt in my mind that it will make a huge difference if he keeps it up. Having a genuine threat in the midfield (Shaqiri is too hit and miss for me still, but time may prove me wrong) that starts deep and moves upfield is a threat we haven't had thus far this season. Nothing more effective than a runner with the ball attracting opponents to tackle and opening up spaces where they were, especially against packed buses. I would rest him against Bournemouth and definitely play him against Napoli.

{Ed001's Note - it worked really well against Burnley because it killed their attempts to smash players as they were afraid to be left on the deck out of the game. They just dropped off, which gave Milner the chance to hit the shot.}

15.) 07 Dec 2018 18:08:19
Regarding denzils post about our set up during defensive free kicks. I’m not worried about a player making a good run and scoring cause that can happen how ever you set up. My worry is the officials screwing up and allowing a blatant off side goal to stand.

16.) 07 Dec 2018 20:35:59
Cheers Ed001 always look forward to the match reviews, really appreciate the work on your end that goes into these.

17.) 07 Dec 2018 21:21:40
Great read as always, Ed. I agree with you on Dyche's pathetic and moaning over absolutely nothing. They don't call him The Ginger Mourinho for nothing cos all he did was moan about stuff to distract from the blatant obvious - the guy is under pressure and is royally in over his head.

Dyche set his side up to try and bully us and kick us from pillar to post in a bid to intimidate us BUT we never let that happen. His team is abject from top to bottom and deserved nothing from the game and will be relegated at this point.

I also disagree with the way the media reported on the game, saying how Burnley played well and how they deserved something from the game YET could not spell out the amount of chances they created. Maybe it was cos they created NOTHING. Prolly trying to help deflect from the fact that an incompetent British manager is in over his head. As for the refs? No comment. It's just too painful.

18.) 07 Dec 2018 21:54:53
Thanks for the write up Ed!

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}

19.) 08 Dec 2018 00:38:14
Ed001. Kavanagh does give some hope. I’ve seen him ref a few games now and the sense you get is he is in control.
He’s in control of himself, nothing fanciful to draw attention, just ref the game cause that’s his job.
He’s in control of the game, because he knows the rules and applies them.
Something I notice about him is that he doesn’t do too much of talking to players. Seems to be working in his favour for now. We’ll see how it is in time to come when he becomes more acquainted with the players.
He hasn’t been tested under fiery situations though, even for this recent derby. Will have to see how he responds to teams that are trying to push their luck and crowds that are more rowdy.

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed he continues as he is, because he is the first ref I have ever seen that I was impressed with. I know people will jump on Collina, but he was terrible in Serie A and was reffing at the time of the Calciopoli scandal when refs were favouring certain teams. He was very much at the centre of it all but seems to have avoided being tainted somehow.}

Apologies my mistake, Sakho is going to Palace, I meant to say WBA want him to replace Evans if a deal can't be done with Palace. I really am sorry, it was early and that was a silly mistake not to read back through and check. Thankfully Ed002 pointed it out to me.

It is nothing to do with other players and everything to do with his attitude and prior service. It is felt he deserves the opportunity to play regularly if he wants to go. While he does not really want to leave Liverpool, he does want regular first team football.

Whichever way he decides is fine by me, I am in full agreement that he has earnt the right to do what is best for him.

Ed002 has some more info on this, which he will hopefully add, and point out I made a mistake assuming a party flying from London might not mean a London club, doh!

{Ed002's Note - As of an hour or so ago Inter's business for the other player has now been concluded and they are looking to sort out the Shaquiri transaction by tonight or tomorrow morning. Their real plus point is that the player wants to move to Italy with them. Against them is that they are unable to pay the full amount upfront.

Therefore if Liverpool want to do something about Shaqiri it must be very soon - and if they are going to pay up front they must have access to the cash. They will also need to persuade the player that he should move to Liverpool.}

It is meant to be just one bet due to the competitions we are intending to run, it would be too easy to rack up lots of points by just making all the possible bets each race.
