6 days to go!

On the 16th of June our Facebook page will go live to a charity match the site has organised, in aid of Seva and Macmillan nurses.
It will be a 3pm kick off!
Please share and like our page to support the boys taking part. We have one crowdfunded page on justgiving that raised £300 before prematurely ending so stay tuned for a new one setting up. We are hopeful to raise £1000 with this and the players match fees.

This is also the last call for anyone else who wants to play in the game held in north oxfordshire. Current players range from all abilities and ages! So do not feel you cannot contribute.

Text me on 07719565417 for more info!

Will ed001's "Just like watching brazil" better ed002's "Walham green east wapping, carpet cleaning rodent and boggit exterminating association"....FC?

Who is your money on?!

1.) 10 Jun 2018 21:47:19
Every time I see posts about this I kick myself because I lived in Oxfordshire but moved to Liverpool last year ;_;
Would have loved to play after work but would never make it there in time now xD

Good luck to everybody participating and ed2s players repeating that name haha.

2.) 10 Jun 2018 22:30:30
Going to be a struggle carving that name onto a trophy haha
Happy to donate and looking forward to watching the live stream.

3.) 10 Jun 2018 23:36:30
Would love to have made it from Ireland. Well done to all involved as it's for a great cause. Enjoy the day and be proud.

4.) 10 Jun 2018 23:41:46
How are you going to fit that team name on a jersey?

5.) 11 Jun 2018 01:37:23
I’m gutted, I was going to play and had it tied to when I was back in the uk ( I live in aus) my trip moved numerous times. I’ll be back in time but pulled a hamstring 2 weeks ago so can’t play regardless!

6.) 11 Jun 2018 06:26:45
Would have loved to play and show off my silky skills but unfortunately I won't be able to make it this time. If successful maybe we could make this an annual thing?

7.) 11 Jun 2018 18:09:13
Any chance to do some commentary from India, Ed001? xD.

Having spoken to the person who has been keeping me informed on this, to get clarity, I think it is time I gave the full explanation of what I am now being told. I am going to refer to the person as he/ him, just because it is easier rather than because it is a male.

So I have pestered him, because I wanted some clarification of the full story and to know if I am being deliberately fed misinformation to keep the club out of trouble. He claims that he is telling me exactly what he has been told, that there is no attempt to mislead me on his behalf, either knowingly or unknowingly. So this is basically the story as he gives it:

After matches Klopp will often chat with opposition players, just a friendly chat, nothing untoward, many managers will do it.

However, remarks were made to VVD along the lines of 'I would love to have you in my team' or similar when we have faced Southampton. Which VVD has obviously taken to heart, though we have no way of knowing if Klopp was making the first moves towards a signing or just making a throwaway remark regarding the player. So that could be seen as a problem in the light of following events, though would normally not even be noticed.

Anyway, last summer things were a bit unsettled there with Jose Fonte fighting to leave and it caused a few issues with a number of the players there, who felt Fonte was unfairly treated after his years of service to the club. There are a number of players there who did not like the treatment Fonte received and felt he should have been allowed to make his dream move, rather than held to his contract and then ended up in limbo before joining West Ham United just to get away from Saints. VVD has at this point made the decision he wants to go and asked his agent to put out feelers looking for interested parties.

We showed interest at this point, I don't have dates, I have never had any kind of dates to give, which is why I have never mentioned any, but I would assume this is just after the January window, as this was when he was disgruntled. However, instead of going direct to the club and seeking permission to speak to them and him over a summer move, we spoke directly to the agent.

Now our excuse, which is why I am told the club immediately backed out and apologised, is that we were told the agent and player came to us with Saints' blessing. I will leave you to make up your own mind over the truth of that claim, as I really do not know. I have no way to verify that information one way or the other.

To cut a long story short, the player, agent and club sorted out a deal, then and only then do LFC go to Saints to negotiate a price. That is when all hell broke loose and Soton investigated, made a complaint etc.

That is how he explained it to me, but I have no way to verify any of it, which is why I am giving you a full version as he tells it. In the past he has been reliable, though he has often asked me not to pass on things, the info he has given had checked out. This time I am not sure though, this feels too neat and like someone is trying to shift the blame. Either way the club is at fault for not ensuring they had permission to speak to the player.

1.) 08 Jun 2017 06:43:11
Make you right ed001 with it sounding to contrived but it does not mean what he has said is not the truth. Like you say it's not difficult to follow the correct way of approaching a transfer a club either says yes or no what is the problem. Baffling really still men in suits are never the smartest.
Up the pool.

{Ed001's Note - I just don't understand why the club still has this issue. We do not need to act underhand, the club is, in terms of brand power, according to those that measure these things, ahead of all but Man Utd in English football. We should not need to be underhand to attract quality players. They should want to play for us because of who we are. So just concentrate on getting the right deal with their current club, then worry about convincing the player.}

2.) 08 Jun 2017 06:48:37
Qyestion for the Eds, not just about this event. What is the situation regarding speaking to agents. As i understand it agents put feelers out to other clubs and that is ok. In those circumstances i assume it is ok for a club to speak to the agent. If that has happened can the club contact the agent again for further discussions? Is it a case of the player basically can't be in the room with them? Or more complicated, e. g. you can't talk beyond a certain point even with the agent? Thanks.

{Ed025's Note - if a club wish to talk to a player who is under contract at a club then they must inform the parent club for permission DL, anything less is seen as "tapping up" even if its done through the agent mate..

3.) 08 Jun 2017 06:55:11
Shame Ed, at the very least I hope the club learn a lesson, I think we're sailing very close to the wind with our transfer activity.

4.) 08 Jun 2017 07:00:49
Thanks Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - anytime mate..

5.) 08 Jun 2017 07:05:44
Its the premier league response that intreagues me. Would it not be the case that if they thought we were genuinely guilty of wrong doing on purpose then just an apology from us would be irrelevant?

{Ed025's Note - i must say that you make a fair point slowdog, maybe we have not heard the last of it yet mate..

6.) 08 Jun 2017 07:15:27
We have read news that VVD agent also spoke to Conte and Pep; that would have constituted tapping too right?

{Ed001's Note - no, you are missing the point, the intermediary can speak to others, it is the player himself that is unable to discuss things.}

7.) 08 Jun 2017 07:17:07
Do you think this is the end of the saga with LFC and VVD ed?

{Ed001's Note - depends on what Saints think. If they are satisfied with the apology and us backing away, then yes. Though a lot comes down to VVD himself as well.}

8.) 08 Jun 2017 07:31:15
If Saints had any decency, they'd accept the apology and move on. Liverpool acted underhandedly but, judging from ed001's post, not in a deliberate way. It's not like the club had been scheming to prevent a bidding war that Southampton were entitled to.

9.) 08 Jun 2017 07:30:15
Thank you for letting us know the situation ED001, we appreciate it!

I was on these pages when the whole Clint Dempsey saga happened and it's beyond belief that the club can act in such a amateurish fashion! Or is it arrogance on the clubs part?

Considering how many times we have dealt with Southampton over the past few years makes this surprising as well as irritating to say the least!

Again, thanks for keeping us in the loop Ed.

{Ed001's Note - it feels like arrogance to me, believing they can do what they want with no consequence.}

10.) 08 Jun 2017 07:35:05
Hey ED001. Is the extent to which the VVD deal played out in the media seen as a massive issue by the club? I know this doesn't excuse the club's behaviour but the extent to which transfer info is leaked is quite extraordinary. Similarly a lot has been written bout the Salah deal. Can the club not conduct business in a private professional manner, or is it just the case that this not easily done in modern football? Thanks Ed.

{Ed001's Note - it is always a concern, the club put a lot of effort into keeping things quiet in the past, hence the Jen Chang thing. Now it has gone back to the old flood of info coming out. It is not easy to keep things quiet, but it certainly should not be coming out in the amounts LFC are producing it.}

11.) 08 Jun 2017 07:35:11
eds i know this is an outrageous idea/ thought, but truth be known the window don't open until july between now and then the saints accept the apology after believing because of the blame game as you said, that the tapping up was accidentally stupid, could liverpool get the deal sorted and pay more as in a way to save face or is it just a stupid thought.

{Ed001's Note - it could happen and has happened in the past. The likelihood is that we will not pay the price regardless.}

12.) 08 Jun 2017 07:37:52
Nice one ed.

{Ed001's Note - welcome and RITH is wrong. The whole point of speaking to a player is to cut out the whole auction aspect of transfers by ensuring you get the best price with the player only wanting to join you.

As for Saints, they have done nothing wrong and RITH is just showing how bitter he is by constantly deflecting and blaming the victim.}

13.) 08 Jun 2017 07:57:21
Thanks for the info Ed. Legend.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

14.) 08 Jun 2017 08:03:54
Ed 1 - you make some great points here. We were discussing it in the pub last night and I think the consensus of opinion was that tapping up players has always gone on and always will to some degree. It is maybe a bit easier to hide behind agents and third parties these days than it was years ago but I think even an indirect approach - I. e. To an agent is tapping up. I know clubs often give players agents approval or even instructions to find a new club for a player maybe even with guidelines as to what a sell price may be. More often than not all of the above happens in secret.

You make a very good point that too much information seems to be leaked out of LFC and whilst it seems clear that the club has acted beyond what can be excusable (I. e. A sounding out of an agent etc. ) and especially with meeting the player directly, the leaks to the press in my view is what has really caused the most problems.

I hope there is a full investigation internally and these internal problems are fixed now or we could have a long summer of problems in the transfer market.

{Ed001's Note - not just a long summer, it will be the same every transfer window until we fix the internal problems.}

15.) 08 Jun 2017 08:10:12
Is there any suggestion that there will be any internal disciplinary actions taken by the club towards any LFC staff involved in the transfer Ed001? Do you think the VVD events will see Liverpool changing their approach to transfers and lack of professionalism? If nothing changes or there isn't an acceptance that change is needed then that would really stink of arrogance.

{Ed001's Note - the first thing that will happen is likely to be an internal investigation to examine what went on, what the club did wrong and what the club did right. That analysis will have to lead to changes or this summer will be nothing compared to how bad things will get for the club in the future.}

16.) 08 Jun 2017 08:15:14
It's all just so distasteful. Look at what Lukaku is doing to them across the park. Young men who get paid millions to play a sport they love and show this kind of disrespect to their employers. Regardless of whether Liverpool's conduct was really dodgy or just downright dumb, I really do not like to see these spoiled players showing such an extreme lack of loyalty to the shirt and fans they represent. If I wanted to leave my job and go to a bigger company, I would have the decency to go to my boss and tell him to his face. Of course, I don't have a greedy agent trying to drum up a sale to line his own fat palm with silver.

17.) 08 Jun 2017 08:15:37
What does this mean for the player himself ed001? Is he also facing the prospect of a ban? Maybe not by his parent club who might not be able to afford it, but by the governing body.?

{Ed001's Note - it is unlikely to lead to any kind of ban for the player. His issue is that the club themselves could freeze him out and leave him in limbo and his chance to get a big move could go.}

18.) 08 Jun 2017 08:32:25
We appreciate you sharing your info ed, as you have already hinted i think this is standard practice for the americans and i can't see any follow up action apart from a public telling off and a private don't get caught next time.

With regards to vvd we were always going to get our pants pulled down over this deal so maybe its the best outcome overall aside from the massive embarassment.

Moving forward through this window at any rate we must do it correct though because i shudder to think what punishment the club will get if its caught doing the same thing twice in the same window.

Do you think this will have any bearing on players we are targeting not wanting to come considering we have left vvd high and dry?

{Ed001's Note - it is common practice in business in general, end justifies the means for most companies.

That is a good point you raise, other players are going to be wary of dealing with us, if we leave VVD high and dry now.}

19.) 08 Jun 2017 08:32:27
Cheers Ed001. We've not covered ourselves in glory here at all, shambolic behaviour and unprofessionalism is what is smacks of.

20.) 08 Jun 2017 08:42:11
So just reiterating what has been in the press.

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea. I do not read the press.}

21.) 08 Jun 2017 08:44:32
Thank you for the swift response Ed. Much appreciated mate. And thank you for all the hard work! This promises to be a window like no other for you guys! All the best :) .

{Ed001's Note - not sure it is like no other. This seems to have become a recurring theme.}

22.) 08 Jun 2017 09:11:00
Thanks eds for the info. Really appreciate your time forwarding your knowledge on this situation.

23.) 08 Jun 2017 09:30:25
Agree with Max, thanks Ed, appreciate you sharing the info.

{Ed001's Note - cheers Lj.}

24.) 08 Jun 2017 10:25:18
Thanks Eds for the in depth post, we all appreciate it on here, we'd all be clueless if it wasn't for you lot.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}

25.) 08 Jun 2017 11:52:37
Thanks for the info Ed's, but I have to ask, why is it so hard to do it properly, whether the agent instigated it or not? Even if the agent said that the player is doing it with his club's blessing, how hard is it to confirm that with the club? Something is really wrong somewhere within the club and it's not rocket science how it can be fixed!

{Ed001's Note - it is not that hard at all.}

26.) 08 Jun 2017 12:10:38
Ed is part of the problem that the powers of be just aren't from football background? Is it just simple naivity from people that don't know? Most if not all of our top brass are from everywhere BUT football. Is it just me being naive?

{Ed001's Note - very few clubs have top brass from a footballing background.}

27.) 08 Jun 2017 12:11:08
What was Fonte's dream move ED001?

{Ed001's Note - to play for Mourinho.}

28.) 09 Jun 2017 13:45:14
Ed001, Good of you to give us the detail, but I don't think you have to explain things. Everyone said this was going to happen, but then it turned out we built the house on sand, so things fell apart.

You guys run a really interesting site, and try to give us interesting insights. Sometimes things will go pear shaped. doesn't change things, you are giving us your honest (sometimes very honest) view on things. If it was called Liverpool-transfer-facts. co. uk, then that would be different, but I for one enjoy the site, and appreciate you guys giving us the insights that you do (although sometimes I cringe from the tongue lashings delivered :-) ) . If you will forgive me, part of the fun of this site is just like buying the euro millions ticket. the 2 days dreaming about what it would be like if Messi signed brings a smile and some joy, even if the reality is, it is never going to happen. BTW . any chance of Messi :-)

On a different note, I find it really hard to fathom how we can get ourselves into these situations. I have nothing to do with football, but I know you need permission from the other club before you speak to the player. I know from life, that if a middle man says "trust me this is all legit", then that is when you run for the hills. SO, this is either supreme arrogance (which I would hate for my football club, but I accept it is possible), or supreme naivete. I am not sure which is worse.

Thanks for all you guys do, I am looking forward to my near hourly visits to the site during the window!

Very good . Gives us an insight on players with their situations and some we won't know much about . Very good !!

08 Mar 2015 18:12:53
So what do you think will happen in the summer then Ed002?

{Ed002's Note - Much of this will change by the summer and there are major dependencies on (a) players leaving (b) how much money the club can raise through sales (remembering that Liverpool will be probably be looking to sell players by January to offset FFP issues), and (c) Champions League qualification. However, there is known to be (or have recently been) some level of interest in the following players:

GK: Ochoa, Neto, Sportiello (unconfirmed at this time), Romero, Ryan, Ruddy. The club have also looked at many others.
RB: Danilo (certainly won't happen). I am not sure what will happen to Wisdom. I suspect a new deal for Flanagan but if Manquillo and Johnson both leave then the club will look for a new RB. If Rodgers remains as manager it is not out of the question that Ibe may be tried in a wing back role. Alternative is that MAnquillo stays and RB is no longer a priority.
CB: I suspect a new deal will be offered to Toure and the club will have to have a clear out of CBs in any case. I doubt a CB is a priority.
MF: Milner, Khedira, Pjanic (outrageously expensive), Vazquez
F/W: Ings, Vietto, Gameiro, Baez (a WP would be an issue initially), Kishna (I understand that old interest has been rekindled but it is hard to see how he would fit in), Lacazette (not going to happen). Two other players the club were interested in - Bakkali (I suspect Liverpool have stepped back from their interest like many other clubs) and Andre Ayew (a free agent who Liverpool enquired about last summer - no obvious interest right now but it may return).

If Liverpool do qualify for the Champions League and if further funds can be made available through sales, it would not be out of the question for Liverpool to look to one of the following as an option:

GK: Cech
MF: Carvalho, Turan
F/W: Benzema

And who would be my choice of players who will be available?

GK: Handanovic
RB: Germain
CB: Balanta - Caniggia wanted Liverpool to move for Balanta more than two years ago - and he has got better. Rogers ignored the advice. He shouldn't have done. If Liverpool need a CB
MF: Matuidi, Morgan Sanson
F/W: Mitrovic - I don't see a long term future for Lambert and Mitrovic would give Liverpool a very good option that they are missing right now. Rodgers will regret using the words "Origi" and "world-class" in the same sentence. }

1.) 08 Mar 2015 19:06:20
Interesting read, thanks Eds.

2.) 08 Mar 2015 22:03:31
Great work, eds. This is what this site is all about, just a shame it gets hindered by the trolls from time to time!

Cheers,

3.) 09 Mar 2015 00:27:59
Realistically we're only looking to add one in each position right, Eds? So say we signed Ings, Vietto would then be out of the question?

I'd love Khedira but worry about his injury record so can't see FSG taking such a risk.
Would the signings of Romero, Milner, Ings and possibly a battle for Carvalho if we make top 4 seem like a realistic scenario come the summer Eds?

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation as I understand it. I cannot sensibly answer questions about different combinations of the players.}

4.) 09 Mar 2015 02:53:55
Thanks a lot ed fot that reply

5.) 09 Mar 2015 07:21:48
Brilliant work Ed001, seducing Ed002 to spill the beans. Was it that "humongous" backside that did the trick?

Also, which Vazquez and Germain are these?

{Ed002's Note - Lucas and it should be Matteo Darmain.}

6.) 09 Mar 2015 07:22:06
Taking into account our finances I completely agree with your choises Ed002 (with exception of Sanson who I haven't seen enough). I will add Luis Adriano to forward list.

{Ed002's Note - I am a little surprised that there is no firm interest from Liverpool, AC Milan or Arsenal in Adriano at this time. It should be Darmain not Germain.}

7.) 09 Mar 2015 07:22:22
great post Ed002. i would like to know if we are really interested in morgan sanson of montpellier? i watched montpellier games few times and he looked a class midfielder and ran the show. i think he will be perfect for liverpool.

{Ed002's Note - No, he would be my choice of player from who will be available.}

8.) 09 Mar 2015 04:28:55
Brilliant views Ed002 thanks!. saves endless questions about targets!, but what about ED001? Care to add anything?

{Ed001's Note - not a lot to add to that, I do believe we have decided against Ryan, despite his agent's best efforts to get him a move, he simply is not good enough for the top leagues and so will probably move to a low end team in Spain or Italy.
Bakkali we were discussing on the editor's widget and I did mention to the other editors yesterday that the feeling is that he is 'difficult' and best avoided.
Turan will again be looking to join us, but I doubt we will have the finances required sadly.
Mostly it is going to be about moving players out to buy new ones, though the removal of Johnson and Gerrard does clear up any issues with the wage bill being too high. It is just that we have to avoid building up debt while the stadium is being rebuilt, so it is going to be a time to be careful with our spending. Thankfully the new TV deal will mean we can sell to buy, rather than having to sell to pay for the stadium.}

9.) 09 Mar 2015 10:12:41
Great response from Ed2 and comments from Ed.

That's what makes this site the best around.

Superb

10.) 11 Mar 2015 06:12:36
Liverpool need to make Ed002 DOF now.

Kostas Tsimikas

27 Mar 2024 07:52:52
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new player profile about, Kostas Tsimikas

1.) 27 Mar 2024 09:08:32
On the point of rashness Ed, don't you think Robertson also sometimes got the same problem? He likes charging up the field trying to win the ball and sometimes didn't come close to it and left our CB exposed. Seen it quite few times last and this season.

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

2.) 27 Mar 2024 09:28:59
You think that's down to our very own tactic of trying to win the ball higher up field or just both player's own traits?

3.) 27 Mar 2024 10:15:47
I’m pretty sure Klopp has commented after games that players need to make the decision about when to press and how. I do think Robbo presses and misses a lot more than he is criticised for. Especially when considering the amount of criticism his mate on the other wing gets ??.

4.) 27 Mar 2024 11:02:41
I’m not buying the “it’s Klopp’s instructions” logic. Klopp likes his players to use their brains when playing, and Robertson’s pressing mistakes are usually are sign of the opposite. At 30 years old and with 6 years as the starting left back in Klopp’s team, he shouldn’t be making errors like that anymore.

5.) 27 Mar 2024 17:08:12
Robbo plays with a lot of passion but he is too headstrong . too many injuries now . if we really want to win this league then we have to keep on improving the squad and first team . I do think the left back from Fulham would improve us.

Kobbie Mainoo

22 Mar 2024 10:48:02
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new player profile about, Kobbie Mainoo

1.) 22 Mar 2024 11:45:19
I hate to admit it too but Mainoo is some player. I was fully expecting to see a player that has been overhyped by the Utd fans and the media but he truly is something special. I thought he was exceptional in the FA Cup game against us and mostly came out on top on the midfield battle. Utd have a real gem on their hands with him and Garnacho.

2.) 22 Mar 2024 12:26:16
Cracking player Dracred, like you I'd just heard Utd fans hyping him up and thought 'here we go again, another one' type thing - but the lad looks truly special and had a very good game against us.

3.) 22 Mar 2024 12:35:23
I lost count of the times Mainoo passed the ball into touch. Maybe I’m being unfair but he doesn’t look all that.

4.) 22 Mar 2024 12:48:21
He isn’t that good just the best of a bad bunch with Nacho. England talk is ridiculous. Remember I was a scout don’t yer know. Average springs to mind.

5.) 22 Mar 2024 15:40:10
Ed1, it kinda stinks because he looks like a very good young player but is a Utd player. Is there anyone within our academy that looks like a special player to you Ed? Or any of our young player that have make their appearance in the first team this season that caught your eye?

{Ed001's Note - Bajcetic is the one that stands out for us, or did before his injuries. Hopefully he can recover fully and reach his potential, which is sky high. Bradley obviously is our own special talent that has emerged into the first team this season. I do like the look of McConnell as well.}

6.) 22 Mar 2024 15:56:46
He did look like a special talent before the injury. He is putting on a bit more muscle in the new training picture. Hoping that will be a good sign. You did mentioned McConnell before. He is playing at a position where we have plenty of good players and most of them are young. That doesn't even counting Trent if he is to move to midfield. Do you think he can make it with us? Curious if his best position is as a DM or one of the two alongside DM?

{Ed001's Note - I think McConnell is capable of playing any of the positions, but he has a tough job on to break in to the team.}

7.) 22 Mar 2024 16:05:01
Even Tyler Morton loan is doing well for him. But he probably going to be sold or loan again. What about Danns Ed? He is only playing few minutes so far. But what do you make of him?

{Ed001's Note - looks sharp but does need to build himself up physically to play the way he looks to be best. He is strong in the air, but you need a bit of strength about you to use that strength most of the time. Otherwise you just end up being knocked away.}

8.) 22 Mar 2024 17:35:32
I'm so happy we have Bajcetic, Bradley and Quansah. If they all stay fit, they are going to be outstanding for us.

United definitely have a good one in mainoo. No point denting it because it's United. In a terrible season for them, at least they can hang onto the fact that they graduated a good youngster in a key position. Something to build on. Hopefully they won't though?.

9.) 22 Mar 2024 18:08:09
I like Mainoo but can't help thinking that him playing for united hasn't created a hype train but it certainly ADDED to it. The likes of Ferdinand were putting him forward for England after a handful of games, even now how many Prem games does he have 10 or 12?Very good little player but this time last year Bajcetic was doing the same for us, don't remember anyone clamouring for Spain to be building the team around him. If anything he was the easy target for Lfc fans after defwats against Real etc, and we were struggling as much as a team then as Utd are now.

{Ed077's Note - Ed001 did a profile on a young academy lad, coming through at United and all you can do is moan and complain that Bajcetic (who's been out injured most of the season) isn't getting any love? You do realise that there can be more than one good player right?}

10.) 22 Mar 2024 18:24:22
Hearing Utd want to replace Ten Hag with Southgate.

If Southgate goes there it would be brilliant. Expect to see Maguire start every week and Hendo to return to the premier league to be Southgate’s midfield lynchpin.

Mainoo to move on then to get away from a relegation battle.

11.) 22 Mar 2024 18:45:16
My first thought was zidane to Utd. Us to get naglesman and tuchel to go to Newcastle.

{Ed077's Note - Who goes to Bayern in that scenario? Alonso?

I think Jose to Newcastle makes a lot of sense.}

12.) 22 Mar 2024 16:53:45
Mainoo is a promising prospect BUT like someone said, he is our Baj of last season where he was good to very good in a bad bunch. However, I thing Baj has the upper hand here cos he was good in a bad bunch while Mainoo is good in an even worse bunch at Utd, if that makes sense. Both players are very promising regardless.

That said, Baj is amazing and I rated him from the first moment I saw him turn a RB Salzburg player and sent him to the shops in one half turn. As for Macconell and Morton, I will need to see more of them to better judge them.

13.) 22 Mar 2024 19:34:48
Wasnt moaning or complaining, players like elliott or jones have yet to recieve a call up. if you think a player without an u21 cap and 15 league games to his name isn't helped somewhat by the sky led hype train then what can i say, your probably still waiting for Maguire to morph into utd's virg. but like i said i do like Mainoo.

14.) 22 Mar 2024 19:58:26
Garnacho is massively overrated. Scored one good goal. I bet he disappears in the next few years. One trick pony.

15.) 22 Mar 2024 21:48:20
Garnacho works hard and is a nuisance for defenders. He creates space for the other attackers just with his movement too. He's still very young but he has improved as the season has gone on. The most impressive thing I find about him is his work rate. In the FA Cup game against us, he never stopped running for the entire 120mins which is very impressive. I think we have to learn how to give credit to other players from other teams when they deserve it.

16.) 22 Mar 2024 22:02:27
Noooo Jose to Bayern Ed 77 Alonso stays put.

{Ed077's Note - still harboring hopes of Alonso eventually becoming your manager??}

17.) 23 Mar 2024 08:08:09
The thought of Nagelsmann ending up as our manager appalls me. If that’s the best we can do then we might as well write off 18 months until he’s inevitably sacked. He completely lacks any of the competencies needed to replace Klopp, his judgement has been found to be extremely poor, the Bayern players actively tried to get him out they had that little respect for him or his “tactics” and then there’s the matter of him saying he as good as held our club in contempt in an interview. I’d be Nagelsmann out from the start as I don’t believe he deserves a chance.

18.) 23 Mar 2024 10:06:11
@Victor, the next manager isn’t being brought in to replace Klopp.

The next manager is being brought in to be the manager of Liverpool FC starting with the 24 / 25 season - there’s a difference.

I honestly can’t think of anyone who can replace Klopp - in the sense they do what he does but better.

Taking a start point of we are looking for the next version of Klopp means that you will only be disappointed whoever the manager turns out to be.

19.) 23 Mar 2024 10:21:54
ViktorVaughan like you, I want nothing to do with that Nagelsmann of a fellow. He seems to be bored when he is not managing a club hence, he seems to get any job or ready to take any job that comes his way whenever he is out of work. And if he did had contempt for our club in an interview then thet only rubber-stamps my point as in, Nagelsmann needs NOT apply.

Also, Im not convinced at all that he is the right guy for the job cos he seems to lack the humility (competences, perhaps) to be a good steward of our great club and would prolly like to stamp his own authority on the culture Klopp, his staff, the players and FSG have worked hard to build cos he thinks he is that good which he A'INT, in my view. He and DeZerbi can keep it stepping, IMO.

20.) 23 Mar 2024 12:05:13
By very definition a new manager will be “replacing” Klopp, given that they’ll take the place of an outgoing manager.

I’d at least want someone competent, someone who respects the club, the supporters and ethos of the club. Nagelsmann meets none of those criteria, he’s not competent, he doesn’t respect the club or supporters (he’s literally on record as saying that), he certainly doesn’t care or understand the ethos of the club, all of those things that Klopp was from day one.

He’s the wrong man to manage the club, he’s nothing more than Brendan Rodgers with a German accent. He was out of his depth at Bayern, he is out of his depth with the German national side, he’d be out of his depth in a very shallow puddle.

PSR Regulations

19 Mar 2024 07:39:01
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, PSR Regulations

1.) 19 Mar 2024 08:43:19
That’s an interesting article ed1. Cheers for that mate. Are we free and clear of any looming charges do you think? Or have we been a good little club?

{Ed001's Note - there has been no suggestion of any breaches involving us that I know of. Certainly we have never reported accounts that would put us anywhere near the £105m losses.}

2.) 19 Mar 2024 09:08:37
Good read Ed sounds like clubs are finally going to be brought into line, might even bring players obscene wages down.
But bringing the UK government weather that's a blue one or a red one (not that there's any difference these days) sounds like a recipe for disaster, there's just too much money in football for them to keep their greedy hands off and not corrupt the sport even more.

{Ed001's Note - that could be a problem if they decide to interfere, but then greed has run footie which is why we have a Premier League in the first place. We looked at Scotland's version, and how it was making the clubs richer, rather than their league, and the clubs wanted a piece of that pie. It has always been driven by greed, so if someone else sticks their finger in for a piece, the clubs only have themselves to blame.}

3.) 19 Mar 2024 17:12:48
Ed1. How does the government stepping in impact City’s case? I’m asking because I have ZERO faith in the FA having the balls to charge them. And if I’m being honest, I don’t trust the fact that no dodgy business is going on behind the scenes.

{Ed001's Note - imo I think we will see lots of behind the scenes negotiations, which will result in a new trade deal between the UAE and the UK just after City are basically let off their charges with a slap on the wrist (at most).}

4.) 19 Mar 2024 17:43:44
Ed1. I thought as much. They will get off with a warning and probably a fine. And we know a fine is basically worthless to City.

{Ed001's Note - I think so sadly.}

5.) 20 Mar 2024 01:40:52
100%, Ed. This is the real reason nothing will happen to City and the number one reason, beyond the limitless funds, that governments should never be involved in sports ownership. Clubs with government protection have no reason to abide by the rules.
I’m done with football with City get off their charges, there would be no reason to care or spend money and time on it any longer.

6.) 20 Mar 2024 06:48:37
Surly after everton + forest getting points deductions the precedent has been set? City charges completly different as has been explained but surly given severityof some of charges book will be thrown at them. there lawyers may wriggle out pf it eventually but if they don't receive stiff punishment in 1st place ye may forget about the premier league football.

Liverpool v Luton Town - A Quick Liverpool Perspective

23 Feb 2024 07:39:01
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Liverpool v Luton Town - A Quick Liverpool Perspective

1.) 23 Feb 2024 09:22:37
Never a better feeling from a players perspective than seeing academy players littered across the team!

Believe we peaked at 7 players U21 on the pitch!

2.) 23 Feb 2024 09:41:21
Great review Ed001. Has been a positive response from Grav since that Arsenal game and I hope he keeps it up.

If Salah or Darwin are fit for the Chelsea game, who would you pick in midfield? Elliot or Grav? I'm assuming Mac and Endo will be starting.

{Ed001's Note - you have to leave Gravenberch in while he is playing well. You can't have him responding to what he is asked to do and step up like he has and then drop him. It sends the wrong message to him and the whole team.}

3.) 23 Feb 2024 11:04:58
Have to say Ed01 - you got it spot on with regards to Connor Bradley. I remember you mentioning him quite a bit in the summer. I personally thought he probably wasn't ready given his only really experience was a season at Bolton but boy was I wrong! What a player he is going to become.

{Ed001's Note - special talent, we are lucky to have him.}

4.) 23 Feb 2024 11:14:25
Nice one, Ed01. Can't disagree with anything you have said bar the Luton goal. I thought he could have done better as well BUT I just saw an angle of the move on the Inside Anfield videos (you should check it out) and actually, Kellerher makes a brilliant save cos the ball was about to go in thru his legs but he saved it and the ball went well away from the goal. Keep in mind that vs Fulham, the ball goes thru his legs and goes in cleanly so improvement there, IMO lol.

However, the issue here was that his save popped in the air, looping over the two defenders that could have cleared it were it on the ground and Ogbene scores. A bit unlucky, IMO but it is what it is. As for the rest, our boys got guts, mate and not that this was ever in question. We played well in the first half despite many online saying we were awful. Not sure what these people were watching cos our finishing was the only piece missing. The chances were there.

Klopp looked like a proud dad watching his kids come good right before his eyes as well. That part hit me, for real. The crowd brought it and we brought the house down on Luton who couldn't cope thru out the second half. Onto the Cup Final.

{Ed001's Note - I saw that already, but I still think he could and should have done better with it.}

5.) 23 Feb 2024 11:16:57
Gomez for England over barkley if we're talking comebacks.

6.) 23 Feb 2024 11:36:12
I agree Ed I thought Kelleher should’ve done better. It’s not so much the save it was his initial positioning, he gambled and left a gap at his front post expecting a cross.

If he’s covering his front post properly then a shot would just hit him and bounce out rather than him allowing a gap then scrambling to keep it out.

I think it’s tough on Kelleher because inevitably we are going to compare what he does to what Ali would do. Nobody else in the world can do what Ali does so it’s harsh to expect Kelleher to do it.

{Ed001's Note - exactly, but it is what it is and we can't accept second best if we are to win trophies. We need to be striving for the best in everything and that includes those stepping in to cover injuries. The hope is that he sees what he could do better and learns from it for the tighter games.}

7.) 23 Feb 2024 11:55:05
Fair enuff, Ed01. Just a diff. of opinion but I do see what you mean.

8.) 23 Feb 2024 12:03:07
Thanks for the write up Ed!

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}

9.) 23 Feb 2024 12:09:42
Beckers, I don't do such comparisons cos it is not fair on Kellerher or anyone indeed cos to me, AB1 is the GOAT of GK's in the PL. Kellerher is who he is and IMO, is a very competent GK. On the goal, I can understand what you (and the Ed) is saying bUT these are things he can work on and had he been playing regularly, that is something he probably corrects over time.

As Ed01 said, Kellerher is who he is (the deputy to the GOAT GK in the PL) so we have to just support him cos he is who we have now IMO, he is the best no. 2 in the league and I don't think any first choice GK in any decent team is going to come over and sit behind AB1 who is going nowhere for the foreseeable future. I just don't see that happening.

10.) 23 Feb 2024 13:18:38
Ed001: Thank you so much for putting Barkley back into his box, the hyperbole around him has been over the top, with all due respect to luton, he has simply found his level.

I agree with you as regards to Gravenberch when players find form they should keep there places.

Finally I was delighted for Gakpo as he takes a lot of stick from sections of Liverpool fans, when as far as I am concerned he is a victim of his ability to play in so many positions for Klopp.

Its always nice to see Youngsters not only get there chance but take it as well.

Bradley is so good I forget he is only 20, he plays like a experienced campaigner.

{Ed001's Note - it is odd how some players get such hyperbole for doing nothing.}

11.) 23 Feb 2024 14:10:12
A thing that struck me in the past couple of weeks is that Elliot is still only 20. He’s made 100 first team appearances, had a season away on loan and a very bad injury that kept him out for over a season. Battling back and contributing the way he is doing says loads about the kid. I think in a number of ways he sort of sums up the attitude of the squad at the moment.

12.) 23 Feb 2024 14:21:13
Danns intelligence, eye for a pass and movement in the U18's has been standout, i hope it develops as he moves into top flight football, his turn and pass for Gakpo before Elliot finish was superb.

13.) 23 Feb 2024 15:17:25
Say Ed01 on another note, I see a lot of fans blaming David Raya for the Porto goal. For me, I can see a bit why cos for a short GK in comparison to some of his peers, he looked a bit too advanced and off his line which you can't do. Also, he didn't even back-pedal to give him a chance of not getting lobbed and reaching the shot.

Please, let me know your thoughts. And others can chime in, as well.

{Ed001's Note - I didn't watch it, sorry. I got bored and fell asleep before the goal.}

14.) 23 Feb 2024 19:50:51
Thanks for the review Ed’s.
In the second half Ross Barkley dribbled past 3 players and then did one of the worst dives I’ve ever seen just outside the peno box instead of carrying on and shooting. His decision making is very poor.

15.) 23 Feb 2024 21:07:04
Kelleher is a very good keeper in his own right Oli but the comparisons will be made to Ali. It’s inevitable.

When he does make an error I do have to remind myself that most keepers in the league make these kind of errors. It’s just that we are so used to Ali that we don’t see it that often.

If Ali makes an error it’s a very obvious one like against Arsenal. He makes general goalkeeping look so easy most of the time.

16.) 24 Feb 2024 00:24:15
Thanks for writing this Ed1 mate.

I found it a really interesting game because at half time I felt deflated. Luckily the lads and Anfield banded together to get yet another great win in the end, a game of two halves indeed.

If we were to have a fully fit midfield mate, who would you be starting? I can't choose! When you think about how good Mac Allister and Endo are playing, Jones and Szoboszlai when fit have to be in the mix. For me I think it's a case of whoever is out, they have to work for their spot again, you can't drop players whilst they're playing well. It's a good situation to be in though isn't it mate? what a midfield!

Thanks again Ed, a great read as always.

{Ed001's Note - I am with you on that, right now the three that are starting are doing so well that you have to keep them in. Ride the hot hand as they say.}

Apologies my mistake, Sakho is going to Palace, I meant to say WBA want him to replace Evans if a deal can't be done with Palace. I really am sorry, it was early and that was a silly mistake not to read back through and check. Thankfully Ed002 pointed it out to me.

It is nothing to do with other players and everything to do with his attitude and prior service. It is felt he deserves the opportunity to play regularly if he wants to go. While he does not really want to leave Liverpool, he does want regular first team football.

Whichever way he decides is fine by me, I am in full agreement that he has earnt the right to do what is best for him.

Ed002 has some more info on this, which he will hopefully add, and point out I made a mistake assuming a party flying from London might not mean a London club, doh!

{Ed002's Note - As of an hour or so ago Inter's business for the other player has now been concluded and they are looking to sort out the Shaquiri transaction by tonight or tomorrow morning. Their real plus point is that the player wants to move to Italy with them. Against them is that they are unable to pay the full amount upfront.

Therefore if Liverpool want to do something about Shaqiri it must be very soon - and if they are going to pay up front they must have access to the cash. They will also need to persuade the player that he should move to Liverpool.}

Also you have to remember this is happening on pretty much every site, people doing this. So for us, it is like being constantly poked with sticks all day long. Eventually it gets to the point where you just turn round and bite someone's head off.
