6 days to go!

On the 16th of June our Facebook page will go live to a charity match the site has organised, in aid of Seva and Macmillan nurses.
It will be a 3pm kick off!
Please share and like our page to support the boys taking part. We have one crowdfunded page on justgiving that raised £300 before prematurely ending so stay tuned for a new one setting up. We are hopeful to raise £1000 with this and the players match fees.

This is also the last call for anyone else who wants to play in the game held in north oxfordshire. Current players range from all abilities and ages! So do not feel you cannot contribute.

Text me on 07719565417 for more info!

Will ed001's "Just like watching brazil" better ed002's "Walham green east wapping, carpet cleaning rodent and boggit exterminating association"....FC?

Who is your money on?!

1.) 10 Jun 2018 21:47:19
Every time I see posts about this I kick myself because I lived in Oxfordshire but moved to Liverpool last year ;_;
Would have loved to play after work but would never make it there in time now xD

Good luck to everybody participating and ed2s players repeating that name haha.

2.) 10 Jun 2018 22:30:30
Going to be a struggle carving that name onto a trophy haha
Happy to donate and looking forward to watching the live stream.

3.) 10 Jun 2018 23:36:30
Would love to have made it from Ireland. Well done to all involved as it's for a great cause. Enjoy the day and be proud.

4.) 10 Jun 2018 23:41:46
How are you going to fit that team name on a jersey?

5.) 11 Jun 2018 01:37:23
I’m gutted, I was going to play and had it tied to when I was back in the uk ( I live in aus) my trip moved numerous times. I’ll be back in time but pulled a hamstring 2 weeks ago so can’t play regardless!

6.) 11 Jun 2018 06:26:45
Would have loved to play and show off my silky skills but unfortunately I won't be able to make it this time. If successful maybe we could make this an annual thing?

7.) 11 Jun 2018 18:09:13
Any chance to do some commentary from India, Ed001? xD.

08 Jun 2017 06:28:27
Having spoken to the person who has been keeping me informed on this, to get clarity, I think it is time I gave the full explanation of what I am now being told. I am going to refer to the person as he/ him, just because it is easier rather than because it is a male.

So I have pestered him, because I wanted some clarification of the full story and to know if I am being deliberately fed misinformation to keep the club out of trouble. He claims that he is telling me exactly what he has been told, that there is no attempt to mislead me on his behalf, either knowingly or unknowingly. So this is basically the story as he gives it:

After matches Klopp will often chat with opposition players, just a friendly chat, nothing untoward, many managers will do it.

However, remarks were made to VVD along the lines of 'I would love to have you in my team' or similar when we have faced Southampton. Which VVD has obviously taken to heart, though we have no way of knowing if Klopp was making the first moves towards a signing or just making a throwaway remark regarding the player. So that could be seen as a problem in the light of following events, though would normally not even be noticed.

Anyway, last summer things were a bit unsettled there with Jose Fonte fighting to leave and it caused a few issues with a number of the players there, who felt Fonte was unfairly treated after his years of service to the club. There are a number of players there who did not like the treatment Fonte received and felt he should have been allowed to make his dream move, rather than held to his contract and then ended up in limbo before joining West Ham United just to get away from Saints. VVD has at this point made the decision he wants to go and asked his agent to put out feelers looking for interested parties.

We showed interest at this point, I don't have dates, I have never had any kind of dates to give, which is why I have never mentioned any, but I would assume this is just after the January window, as this was when he was disgruntled. However, instead of going direct to the club and seeking permission to speak to them and him over a summer move, we spoke directly to the agent.

Now our excuse, which is why I am told the club immediately backed out and apologised, is that we were told the agent and player came to us with Saints' blessing. I will leave you to make up your own mind over the truth of that claim, as I really do not know. I have no way to verify that information one way or the other.

To cut a long story short, the player, agent and club sorted out a deal, then and only then do LFC go to Saints to negotiate a price. That is when all hell broke loose and Soton investigated, made a complaint etc.

That is how he explained it to me, but I have no way to verify any of it, which is why I am giving you a full version as he tells it. In the past he has been reliable, though he has often asked me not to pass on things, the info he has given had checked out. This time I am not sure though, this feels too neat and like someone is trying to shift the blame. Either way the club is at fault for not ensuring they had permission to speak to the player.

1.) 08 Jun 2017 06:43:11
Make you right ed001 with it sounding to contrived but it does not mean what he has said is not the truth. Like you say it's not difficult to follow the correct way of approaching a transfer a club either says yes or no what is the problem. Baffling really still men in suits are never the smartest.
Up the pool.

{Ed001's Note - I just don't understand why the club still has this issue. We do not need to act underhand, the club is, in terms of brand power, according to those that measure these things, ahead of all but Man Utd in English football. We should not need to be underhand to attract quality players. They should want to play for us because of who we are. So just concentrate on getting the right deal with their current club, then worry about convincing the player.}

2.) 08 Jun 2017 06:48:37
Qyestion for the Eds, not just about this event. What is the situation regarding speaking to agents. As i understand it agents put feelers out to other clubs and that is ok. In those circumstances i assume it is ok for a club to speak to the agent. If that has happened can the club contact the agent again for further discussions? Is it a case of the player basically can't be in the room with them? Or more complicated, e. g. you can't talk beyond a certain point even with the agent? Thanks.

{Ed025's Note - if a club wish to talk to a player who is under contract at a club then they must inform the parent club for permission DL, anything less is seen as "tapping up" even if its done through the agent mate..

3.) 08 Jun 2017 06:55:11
Shame Ed, at the very least I hope the club learn a lesson, I think we're sailing very close to the wind with our transfer activity.

4.) 08 Jun 2017 07:00:49
Thanks Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - anytime mate..

5.) 08 Jun 2017 07:05:44
Its the premier league response that intreagues me. Would it not be the case that if they thought we were genuinely guilty of wrong doing on purpose then just an apology from us would be irrelevant?

{Ed025's Note - i must say that you make a fair point slowdog, maybe we have not heard the last of it yet mate..

6.) 08 Jun 2017 07:15:27
We have read news that VVD agent also spoke to Conte and Pep; that would have constituted tapping too right?

{Ed001's Note - no, you are missing the point, the intermediary can speak to others, it is the player himself that is unable to discuss things.}

7.) 08 Jun 2017 07:17:07
Do you think this is the end of the saga with LFC and VVD ed?

{Ed001's Note - depends on what Saints think. If they are satisfied with the apology and us backing away, then yes. Though a lot comes down to VVD himself as well.}

8.) 08 Jun 2017 07:31:15
If Saints had any decency, they'd accept the apology and move on. Liverpool acted underhandedly but, judging from ed001's post, not in a deliberate way. It's not like the club had been scheming to prevent a bidding war that Southampton were entitled to.

9.) 08 Jun 2017 07:30:15
Thank you for letting us know the situation ED001, we appreciate it!

I was on these pages when the whole Clint Dempsey saga happened and it's beyond belief that the club can act in such a amateurish fashion! Or is it arrogance on the clubs part?

Considering how many times we have dealt with Southampton over the past few years makes this surprising as well as irritating to say the least!

Again, thanks for keeping us in the loop Ed.

{Ed001's Note - it feels like arrogance to me, believing they can do what they want with no consequence.}

10.) 08 Jun 2017 07:35:05
Hey ED001. Is the extent to which the VVD deal played out in the media seen as a massive issue by the club? I know this doesn't excuse the club's behaviour but the extent to which transfer info is leaked is quite extraordinary. Similarly a lot has been written bout the Salah deal. Can the club not conduct business in a private professional manner, or is it just the case that this not easily done in modern football? Thanks Ed.

{Ed001's Note - it is always a concern, the club put a lot of effort into keeping things quiet in the past, hence the Jen Chang thing. Now it has gone back to the old flood of info coming out. It is not easy to keep things quiet, but it certainly should not be coming out in the amounts LFC are producing it.}

11.) 08 Jun 2017 07:35:11
eds i know this is an outrageous idea/ thought, but truth be known the window don't open until july between now and then the saints accept the apology after believing because of the blame game as you said, that the tapping up was accidentally stupid, could liverpool get the deal sorted and pay more as in a way to save face or is it just a stupid thought.

{Ed001's Note - it could happen and has happened in the past. The likelihood is that we will not pay the price regardless.}

12.) 08 Jun 2017 07:37:52
Nice one ed.

{Ed001's Note - welcome and RITH is wrong. The whole point of speaking to a player is to cut out the whole auction aspect of transfers by ensuring you get the best price with the player only wanting to join you.

As for Saints, they have done nothing wrong and RITH is just showing how bitter he is by constantly deflecting and blaming the victim.}

13.) 08 Jun 2017 07:57:21
Thanks for the info Ed. Legend.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

14.) 08 Jun 2017 08:03:54
Ed 1 - you make some great points here. We were discussing it in the pub last night and I think the consensus of opinion was that tapping up players has always gone on and always will to some degree. It is maybe a bit easier to hide behind agents and third parties these days than it was years ago but I think even an indirect approach - I. e. To an agent is tapping up. I know clubs often give players agents approval or even instructions to find a new club for a player maybe even with guidelines as to what a sell price may be. More often than not all of the above happens in secret.

You make a very good point that too much information seems to be leaked out of LFC and whilst it seems clear that the club has acted beyond what can be excusable (I. e. A sounding out of an agent etc. ) and especially with meeting the player directly, the leaks to the press in my view is what has really caused the most problems.

I hope there is a full investigation internally and these internal problems are fixed now or we could have a long summer of problems in the transfer market.

{Ed001's Note - not just a long summer, it will be the same every transfer window until we fix the internal problems.}

15.) 08 Jun 2017 08:10:12
Is there any suggestion that there will be any internal disciplinary actions taken by the club towards any LFC staff involved in the transfer Ed001? Do you think the VVD events will see Liverpool changing their approach to transfers and lack of professionalism? If nothing changes or there isn't an acceptance that change is needed then that would really stink of arrogance.

{Ed001's Note - the first thing that will happen is likely to be an internal investigation to examine what went on, what the club did wrong and what the club did right. That analysis will have to lead to changes or this summer will be nothing compared to how bad things will get for the club in the future.}

16.) 08 Jun 2017 08:15:14
It's all just so distasteful. Look at what Lukaku is doing to them across the park. Young men who get paid millions to play a sport they love and show this kind of disrespect to their employers. Regardless of whether Liverpool's conduct was really dodgy or just downright dumb, I really do not like to see these spoiled players showing such an extreme lack of loyalty to the shirt and fans they represent. If I wanted to leave my job and go to a bigger company, I would have the decency to go to my boss and tell him to his face. Of course, I don't have a greedy agent trying to drum up a sale to line his own fat palm with silver.

17.) 08 Jun 2017 08:15:37
What does this mean for the player himself ed001? Is he also facing the prospect of a ban? Maybe not by his parent club who might not be able to afford it, but by the governing body.?

{Ed001's Note - it is unlikely to lead to any kind of ban for the player. His issue is that the club themselves could freeze him out and leave him in limbo and his chance to get a big move could go.}

18.) 08 Jun 2017 08:32:25
We appreciate you sharing your info ed, as you have already hinted i think this is standard practice for the americans and i can't see any follow up action apart from a public telling off and a private don't get caught next time.

With regards to vvd we were always going to get our pants pulled down over this deal so maybe its the best outcome overall aside from the massive embarassment.

Moving forward through this window at any rate we must do it correct though because i shudder to think what punishment the club will get if its caught doing the same thing twice in the same window.

Do you think this will have any bearing on players we are targeting not wanting to come considering we have left vvd high and dry?

{Ed001's Note - it is common practice in business in general, end justifies the means for most companies.

That is a good point you raise, other players are going to be wary of dealing with us, if we leave VVD high and dry now.}

19.) 08 Jun 2017 08:32:27
Cheers Ed001. We've not covered ourselves in glory here at all, shambolic behaviour and unprofessionalism is what is smacks of.

20.) 08 Jun 2017 08:42:11
So just reiterating what has been in the press.

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea. I do not read the press.}

21.) 08 Jun 2017 08:44:32
Thank you for the swift response Ed. Much appreciated mate. And thank you for all the hard work! This promises to be a window like no other for you guys! All the best :) .

{Ed001's Note - not sure it is like no other. This seems to have become a recurring theme.}

22.) 08 Jun 2017 09:11:00
Thanks eds for the info. Really appreciate your time forwarding your knowledge on this situation.

23.) 08 Jun 2017 09:30:25
Agree with Max, thanks Ed, appreciate you sharing the info.

{Ed001's Note - cheers Lj.}

24.) 08 Jun 2017 10:25:18
Thanks Eds for the in depth post, we all appreciate it on here, we'd all be clueless if it wasn't for you lot.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}

25.) 08 Jun 2017 11:52:37
Thanks for the info Ed's, but I have to ask, why is it so hard to do it properly, whether the agent instigated it or not? Even if the agent said that the player is doing it with his club's blessing, how hard is it to confirm that with the club? Something is really wrong somewhere within the club and it's not rocket science how it can be fixed!

{Ed001's Note - it is not that hard at all.}

26.) 08 Jun 2017 12:10:38
Ed is part of the problem that the powers of be just aren't from football background? Is it just simple naivity from people that don't know? Most if not all of our top brass are from everywhere BUT football. Is it just me being naive?

{Ed001's Note - very few clubs have top brass from a footballing background.}

27.) 08 Jun 2017 12:11:08
What was Fonte's dream move ED001?

{Ed001's Note - to play for Mourinho.}

28.) 09 Jun 2017 13:45:14
Ed001, Good of you to give us the detail, but I don't think you have to explain things. Everyone said this was going to happen, but then it turned out we built the house on sand, so things fell apart.

You guys run a really interesting site, and try to give us interesting insights. Sometimes things will go pear shaped. doesn't change things, you are giving us your honest (sometimes very honest) view on things. If it was called Liverpool-transfer-facts. co. uk, then that would be different, but I for one enjoy the site, and appreciate you guys giving us the insights that you do (although sometimes I cringe from the tongue lashings delivered :-) ) . If you will forgive me, part of the fun of this site is just like buying the euro millions ticket. the 2 days dreaming about what it would be like if Messi signed brings a smile and some joy, even if the reality is, it is never going to happen. BTW . any chance of Messi :-)

On a different note, I find it really hard to fathom how we can get ourselves into these situations. I have nothing to do with football, but I know you need permission from the other club before you speak to the player. I know from life, that if a middle man says "trust me this is all legit", then that is when you run for the hills. SO, this is either supreme arrogance (which I would hate for my football club, but I accept it is possible), or supreme naivete. I am not sure which is worse.

Thanks for all you guys do, I am looking forward to my near hourly visits to the site during the window!

14 May 2015 15:14:09{Ed001's Note - We have posted a new confirmed transfer entitled, Transfer Talk #1 Super Samir Handanvoic

{Ed033's Note - please try again

2.) 14 May 2015 15:48:57
works now ed thanks

Very good . Gives us an insight on players with their situations and some we won't know much about . Very good !!

08 Mar 2015 18:12:53
So what do you think will happen in the summer then Ed002?

{Ed002's Note - Much of this will change by the summer and there are major dependencies on (a) players leaving (b) how much money the club can raise through sales (remembering that Liverpool will be probably be looking to sell players by January to offset FFP issues), and (c) Champions League qualification. However, there is known to be (or have recently been) some level of interest in the following players:

GK: Ochoa, Neto, Sportiello (unconfirmed at this time), Romero, Ryan, Ruddy. The club have also looked at many others.
RB: Danilo (certainly won't happen). I am not sure what will happen to Wisdom. I suspect a new deal for Flanagan but if Manquillo and Johnson both leave then the club will look for a new RB. If Rodgers remains as manager it is not out of the question that Ibe may be tried in a wing back role. Alternative is that MAnquillo stays and RB is no longer a priority.
CB: I suspect a new deal will be offered to Toure and the club will have to have a clear out of CBs in any case. I doubt a CB is a priority.
MF: Milner, Khedira, Pjanic (outrageously expensive), Vazquez
F/W: Ings, Vietto, Gameiro, Baez (a WP would be an issue initially), Kishna (I understand that old interest has been rekindled but it is hard to see how he would fit in), Lacazette (not going to happen). Two other players the club were interested in - Bakkali (I suspect Liverpool have stepped back from their interest like many other clubs) and Andre Ayew (a free agent who Liverpool enquired about last summer - no obvious interest right now but it may return).

If Liverpool do qualify for the Champions League and if further funds can be made available through sales, it would not be out of the question for Liverpool to look to one of the following as an option:

GK: Cech
MF: Carvalho, Turan
F/W: Benzema

And who would be my choice of players who will be available?

GK: Handanovic
RB: Germain
CB: Balanta - Caniggia wanted Liverpool to move for Balanta more than two years ago - and he has got better. Rogers ignored the advice. He shouldn't have done. If Liverpool need a CB
MF: Matuidi, Morgan Sanson
F/W: Mitrovic - I don't see a long term future for Lambert and Mitrovic would give Liverpool a very good option that they are missing right now. Rodgers will regret using the words "Origi" and "world-class" in the same sentence. }

1.) 08 Mar 2015 19:06:20
Interesting read, thanks Eds.

2.) 08 Mar 2015 22:03:31
Great work, eds. This is what this site is all about, just a shame it gets hindered by the trolls from time to time!

3.) 09 Mar 2015 00:27:59
Realistically we're only looking to add one in each position right, Eds? So say we signed Ings, Vietto would then be out of the question?

I'd love Khedira but worry about his injury record so can't see FSG taking such a risk.
Would the signings of Romero, Milner, Ings and possibly a battle for Carvalho if we make top 4 seem like a realistic scenario come the summer Eds?

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation as I understand it. I cannot sensibly answer questions about different combinations of the players.}

4.) 09 Mar 2015 02:53:55
Thanks a lot ed fot that reply

5.) 09 Mar 2015 07:21:48
Brilliant work Ed001, seducing Ed002 to spill the beans. Was it that "humongous" backside that did the trick?

Also, which Vazquez and Germain are these?

{Ed002's Note - Lucas and it should be Matteo Darmain.}

6.) 09 Mar 2015 07:22:06
Taking into account our finances I completely agree with your choises Ed002 (with exception of Sanson who I haven't seen enough). I will add Luis Adriano to forward list.

{Ed002's Note - I am a little surprised that there is no firm interest from Liverpool, AC Milan or Arsenal in Adriano at this time. It should be Darmain not Germain.}

7.) 09 Mar 2015 07:22:22
great post Ed002. i would like to know if we are really interested in morgan sanson of montpellier? i watched montpellier games few times and he looked a class midfielder and ran the show. i think he will be perfect for liverpool.

{Ed002's Note - No, he would be my choice of player from who will be available.}

8.) 09 Mar 2015 04:28:55
Brilliant views Ed002 thanks!. saves endless questions about targets!, but what about ED001? Care to add anything?

{Ed001's Note - not a lot to add to that, I do believe we have decided against Ryan, despite his agent's best efforts to get him a move, he simply is not good enough for the top leagues and so will probably move to a low end team in Spain or Italy.
Bakkali we were discussing on the editor's widget and I did mention to the other editors yesterday that the feeling is that he is 'difficult' and best avoided.
Turan will again be looking to join us, but I doubt we will have the finances required sadly.
Mostly it is going to be about moving players out to buy new ones, though the removal of Johnson and Gerrard does clear up any issues with the wage bill being too high. It is just that we have to avoid building up debt while the stadium is being rebuilt, so it is going to be a time to be careful with our spending. Thankfully the new TV deal will mean we can sell to buy, rather than having to sell to pay for the stadium.}

9.) 09 Mar 2015 10:12:41
Great response from Ed2 and comments from Ed.

That's what makes this site the best around.

10.) 11 Mar 2015 06:12:36
Liverpool need to make Ed002 DOF now.

Review Of The Day 22nd June 2018

22 Jun 2018 06:14:06
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 22nd June 2018

1.) 22 Jun 2018 06:44:39
No need for the correction Ed001, you got your description of Pepe right the first time round. I'm surprised Nagelsmann is leaving Hoffenheim for RB Leipzig. I thought he would wait it out at Hoffenheim for an even bigger opportunity, especially given the team he was building.

{Ed001's Note - they have a lot of money to build a team. Still seems a mistake to me.}

2.) 22 Jun 2018 07:40:27
Morning Ed, cheers mate! Have a great Friday.

{Ed001's Note - you too mate.}

3.) 22 Jun 2018 07:50:33
Cheers once again for the round up Ed001
I wonder what is must be like for Emre Can I have nothing bad to say against the lad, wish him well and hope more players who know they are leaving don't down tools and give up ala Coutinho but act like Can did.

{Ed001's Note - you can't fault him, but he hasn't half lucked in there! £14m!!!}

4.) 22 Jun 2018 08:11:26
Cheers for that ed, I have to disagree with you about the Neil Lennon thing though- I love Celtic and you are right about the abuse he took from them but the celebration was a little unbecoming for any manager let alone Lennon, primarily for his history with them. I do however think had he celebrated against any other team, it wouldn’t have been much of an issue. Some things aren’t black and white. On the other story about Burger King, wow, how did nobody stop that idea along the way.

{Ed001's Note - no worries mate.}

5.) 22 Jun 2018 08:21:34
Thanks Ed nice daily report. Very harsh on Lennon that. Game was up and down, he lost the plot a little bit but understandable. Emre, I’m good at one off bycle kicks, has lucked out big time. I think Fab will be better for us going forward.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

6.) 22 Jun 2018 08:29:19
But he did down tools 🤔 he was absolutely shocking last season. Players were ghosting past him and he'd just throw his arms in the air at others. Not to mention his mystery injury which miraculously healed in time for him to play in the Champions League final.

I had no problem with his attitude in all of his previous seasons, but last year he had one good game against Man City, and coasted for the rest of the year. One thing I absolutely can't stand in players; laziness. Can's as guilty as they come, but he got his Karma anyway. His lack of effort made him look so average that he was dropped from the Germany squad.

7.) 22 Jun 2018 08:34:33
Thanks Ed001.

Had a little chuckle at Burger King 😂.

{Ed001's Note - you have to wonder how that got passed.}

8.) 22 Jun 2018 09:04:54
The Nagelsmann bit is a bit confusing imo. I was dead sure he would be Bayern boss in a few seasons. Guess that project's got to wait a while longer and Bayern will be counting on Kovac to keep them on top for the next 5 seasons at least if Nagelsmann is their ultimate aim (like Pep at City) .
Can has done really well for himself with the Juve deal. 14 million signing on fee and a guaranteed trophy at the end of the season. Can see why the lad wanted to leave.

9.) 22 Jun 2018 09:36:46
I don't see how Can downed tools at all mate
in some games he was our best Midfielder
About his injury I feel that is very unfair as more then once the lad has played through the pain barrier and not complained once while others split a fingernail and cry off sick
you can fault Can for maybe lack of top class ability and goals but imo never for downing tools.

10.) 22 Jun 2018 10:01:41
No worries John, it's just my opinion mate. I just didn't see the Emre Can that worked his socks off and helped get us top 4 in the 16/ 17 season, last year. He played one really good game against Man City when we won 4-3. He worked so hard that game that he had to leave the pitch about 75 minutes in with us leading 4-1.

After that game I thought maybe he was going to pull his finger out. He just didn't though, for me. He was ball watching, flitting in and out of games, throwing his arms around, not getting stuck in etc. It was really winding me up watching him. The worst game was in the 3-3 against Arsenal where he just could not be bothered at all. Even in the Champions League final, everyone is moaning about Karius for Blake's second goal, but Can had only been on the pitch for a few minutes and was less than 10 yards away. So why didn't he make any effort to close down the shot when everyone on planet earth knew what Bale was going to do? He just couldn't be bothered to break into a light run or put his body on the line.

I lost all respect for him over the course of last season. I will never forgive somebody for not giving the Liverpool shirt 100% and Can simply didn't in my opinion. Aside from last year though, he was a good servant so I can see why some still want to wish him well. I can see exactly why Klopp wasn't desperate to keep him though. I'm not a nice person and I don't sugar coat my opinions so I fully appreciate I'll wind some people up when I say, good riddance 😂.

11.) 22 Jun 2018 10:09:27
Morning all. i thought the French team might have got a mention - from the rough end of Ed001's tongue?
They almost look like the perfect modern team with power, pace, height and skill everywhere.
I am not sure if I have ever seen a larger collection of Big Time Charlie's in all my life though!?

{Ed001's Note - I don't bother dealing with results in this as they are everywhere. The French are just badly managed.}

12.) 22 Jun 2018 10:13:18
Dont me get wrong im happy he is gone and tbh wished moreno would follow with Matip but I wish him well and boy did he fleece Juve 14m wow but good luck to the lad.

13.) 22 Jun 2018 10:13:58
Couldn’t really blame the ref for asking for Ronaldo's World Cup shirt. He’s been the worlds best for a number of years, he’s on track for the golden boot and it wouldn’t surprise me if Portugal won the World Cup. Its the sort of thing people show the grandkids.
And £14 million quid for Can! That’s got to be some kind of record for a free agent.
As always, thanks for the review ed.

{Ed001's Note - cheers NYR. I would just like to mention I am also a free agent if anyone has £14m going spare.}

14.) 22 Jun 2018 10:23:09
Thought had picture of my wife then Ed001 hahaha
Another good article mate, thanks
Up the pool.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

15.) 22 Jun 2018 10:33:18
Fleeced them? Mate that is a full knitted jumper with pockets a hood and his initials.

16.) 22 Jun 2018 10:34:34
Lol you and me both Ed mate but I won't be greedy, I'll take the £10m, that'll do I suppose ;) .

{Ed001's Note - I would have settled for £14 but shhhhh.}

17.) 22 Jun 2018 11:48:52
Can started the season pretty well. scored early, a couple of beauties but he did seem to go missing eh, not sure if that was coz of the injury though.

I'll tell you, for 220.000 per week, if he doesn't hit the ground running the juve fans will get restless pretty quick. if he starts putting in lazy performances, it won't be tolerated. he has obviously grabbed the 220.000 pretty quick but it could be his undoing. I doubt it, he will probably do really well in seria a.

All in all he has been a fairly decent player for us for a number of years. he has certainly done more than score 1 over head kick and for that I will wish him good luck.

I still don't understand why we didn't sell him last summer though.

18.) 22 Jun 2018 12:17:05
Can will star in serie a.
Disagree about him downing tools. He simply gets caught out a lot. which is why he was never the answer in defensive midfield for us. Where he is good is driving forward, but we, not to be rude to emre have kieta and Chamberlain to do that, and they are also better at pressing than can.
He never told us lies, he fulfilled his contract and did not demand a move. Good luck to him and seriously wish him the best as his choice was 14 million and star in the juventus team or sit on the bench unless lfc have injuries.

19.) 22 Jun 2018 12:36:17
Dont think can downed tools at all in my opinion.

He doesn't come across as that type of player and in all the games i can remember i don't think the thought ever entered my head.

Dont think his injury was anything other than what it was. Anyone would try and get back for a champions league final even if they still aren't quite right.

He has certain flaws in his game sure but itallian league will prob suit him better.

All in all i think liverpool definately got their moneys worth out of him. Played quite a few positions and racked up a fair amount of games for someone still quite young.

Would like to see him do well and fulfill his potential and reach the top of his game. He is a likeable player.

Liverpool not getting any money for him is entirely their fault but these things happen.

I think he knew the midfield was going to be hard to get a start in next year with keita coming in. And now with fabinho there he was nailed on for the bench for the most part.

Sorry to see him go all in all.

I think anyone would find it hard saying no to 14 million. Havent herd what his wages are but im sure its at least double what he was on and def way higher than what he was offered to stay.

All the best emre in my opinion. The italian league now has the best haircut in football.

20.) 22 Jun 2018 12:55:51
Wolverine, Watch the Ozil goal in the 3-3 draw against Arsenal and keep an eye on Emre Can.

Not seeing a player run off your shoulder? Annoying, but forgivable.

Seeing the run and literally watching the player go past you? Unacceptable.

Throwing your arms around and trying to blame the overloaded defence? Absolutely pathetic.

His entire season was littered with moments where he just could not be bothered. I can forgive a lack of ability but blaming your own lack of effort on others is disgraceful. That game was the final straw for me and he never earned back my respect. Not that he will give a damn about my respect from the inside of his new Lamborghini Aventador, whilst he counts out his £220k a week pay cheque 😂

I do agree that he'll be good in Serie A though. It'll suit him. As will Juventus's system. They managed to carry Pogba and give him the freedom to play how he wanted, and Can is a very similar player with his powerful running and shooting abilities, coupled with his poor positioining defensively. I wish him luck nonetheless because at the end of the day, we've got better players so there is no need for bitterness or I'll thoughts. I'm just not going to thank him after I feel he let us down.

21.) 22 Jun 2018 13:10:28
I'm struggling to work out the economics of that deal. I can see how it's cheaper than buying a midfielder for £20-30m but he's still got to be worth the salary. There's no way he's worth £30m over four years.

21 Jun 2018 19:26:28
Okay Gentlemen, We have news on the Matt Hawker Cup 2019.

So far, what do we know?
The date will be the 15th of June
And held in Oxfordshire-ish again.

After speaking to all 24 players, they have all told me they would like to play again next year, and due to their monumental effort how can anyone say no?

After seeing the wonderful words and backing on the site, it is clear a lot more people want to join in for 2019, so we have decided to increase squad sizes from 12 to 14, allowing us to have 4 new players.

Quite frankly there is no easy way to choose, so from as of right now we are running a competition.

It is one question you have to answer, by midnight, Friday the 22nd of June.

How many in TOTAL, goals will be scored at the world cup 2018. So yes this includes all goals previous to today, so time to do some homework ;)

The closest 4 will be added into the Matt Hawker cup, the next 4 after that will be placed on the reserve list. It is an honour to Matt and the website that so many people want to get involved and for that i am extremely grateful.

For any ties in the final standings, it will work on closest guess then move down to who submitted their guess first, so you may want to wait till friday after a few more goals, but is it worth the risk?!

Please email me on, your username if you have one, contact email address and your guess.

Best of luck!

1.) 21 Jun 2018 20:05:15
Have sent in my guess.

Good Luck to all who enter!

2.) 21 Jun 2018 23:38:53
Why play it in Oxfordshire? There’s so many posters with friends within the club that surely we can play the next game at Anfield. Just think all the regulars playing on the pitch while all us regular readers/ occasion posters sit in the stands. Perfect scenario for this site if you ask me.

3.) 21 Jun 2018 23:55:45
Just a thought guys but if there is plenty of interest could you maybe consider shortening the teams and length of games to make maybe 4 teams competing? Maybe 7 aside as an example? Food for thought?

Review Of The Day 21st June 2018

21 Jun 2018 06:56:29
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 21st June 2018

1.) 21 Jun 2018 07:28:14
Thanks Ed. Fancy Burnley to beat the Deen. Have a good one.

{Ed001's Note - it would be a shock if they didn't beat them.}

2.) 21 Jun 2018 07:37:57
Cheers Ed!

Good on Brian Lenihan for actually speaking out, it takes a hell of a lot to do but the lad seems to be in a good place now which is great. I actually met him once (through work), though I had no idea who he was until I was told later on lol. Let's hope he can continue on the right path.

Have a great day Ed mate/ all.

{Ed001's Note - I think he deserves a lot of credit for admitting to his problems. He could have just got drunk like most do. Instead he got help and now he is speaking out to help others. If only more people had his sense the world would be a lot better.}

3.) 21 Jun 2018 07:39:56
Cheers for that ed.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}

4.) 21 Jun 2018 07:59:02
He certainly does deserve credit Ed. I'm just happy more people seem to be speaking out, two in a month now (football) that I know of anyway, I hope it encourages others to do so as well. There's no shame in mental health, fingers crossed more people follow suit and get the help they need.

{Ed001's Note - let's hope more do. Too long have men suffered in silence because we are always told to just man up and get on with it. The worst thing you can do is bottle stuff up.}

5.) 21 Jun 2018 08:23:38
Unfortunately you're right mate. I speak from personal experience, that happened to me on a down time, I was told to snap out of it etc and he made out as if it was my fault! which doesn't go down well with me still to this day. It's too easy for people to speak about it if they've never been through it themselves, it's easy for them to say snap out of it etc, like it's that easy? if it was that easy I'm sure people would opt to not have a mental illness! Unfortunately we don't have that choice, it's deep, it's something more people should be more aware about. There's reasons why the male suicide rate is through the roof, it needs more support. Thankfully we have good men like Lenihan speaking out, if it helps even one person then it's a good job done and I'm sure it will.

{Ed001's Note - I really hope so.}

6.) 21 Jun 2018 12:55:59
Agree lads, I have suffered and still do from bouts of depression and am finally getting help after going to see a brilliant gp. most seem to just want to give tablets and get you out the door. The more people talk about it the better. Ynwa.

7.) 21 Jun 2018 13:44:16
Thanks Ed. What’s your views on Maddison’s move to Leicester. Do you think their style of play will suit him? I remember your article for attacking mids and I’ve kept a close eye on him since then. I feel his passes through the lines are breathtaking at times, just wonder if Leicester’s set up would help him nurture that or hinder it?

{Ed001's Note - difficult to say as a lot depends on how long Puel lasts. With Puel in charge I think he will prosper.}

8.) 21 Jun 2018 15:25:33
I think that we may regret not signing him.

Review Of The Day 20th June 2018

20 Jun 2018 06:24:05
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 20th June 2018

1.) 20 Jun 2018 06:45:09
Big Jack Wilshere fan then Ed? :)

{Ed001's Note - oh yes. I think I overrate him personally.}

2.) 20 Jun 2018 07:20:44
Cheers Ed.

What wilshere fails to grasp is that this is not being done “to him” but actually a direct result of his own doing. Poor attitude towards his career in every way. It’s a shame because when he broke onto the scene as a youngster he showed real promise.

An even bigger shame is that this finally happening will not see a change in attitude or effort. Ultimately players like him or balotelli or ravel Morrison will always get a club who’ll take a punt and pay them obscene money to continue to be a prick.

{Ed001's Note - he simply was ridiculously overrated to begin with and so making no progress and improvement showed him up to be crap.}

3.) 20 Jun 2018 07:24:55
Cheers Ed mate.

Haha Arsenal will be counting their blessings, they will finally see the back of that lazy bugger!

{Ed001's Note - Emery made it plain he saw no place for him unless he changed his lifestyle, hence him leaving. Funny how he says money wasn't the issue but he only considered Arsenal's reduced wages when no one else would offer him more!}

4.) 20 Jun 2018 07:44:48
Yeah the lads off his head Ed. I really don't like him at all, he thinks Arsenal owe him something, the cheek? If he put the effort in from day one then maybe but he never did. I have never seen any talent from him, he's too selfish and wants things his way instead of putting his career first (or so called career) . I wouldn't care if he was never seen on a pitch again, he doesn't deserve to be and never did imo but instead we've got an arrogant, rich, selfish turd! Good move by Emery.

{Ed001's Note - but he puts things on social media about Arsenal so the fans love him and forget how often he has let them down.}

5.) 20 Jun 2018 07:50:16
Arsenal seem like going from strength to strength, pretty excited as well as concerned about their campaign. they will make top 4 harder this season.

6.) 20 Jun 2018 07:57:05
Yeah it's like his covert way of getting people to like him. A friend of mine an Arsenal fan, thinks the sun shines out of his arse, I've never understood why! All I know is, if he was a Liverpool player I'd want him out asap kind of like I do with Clyne.

Let's wait for Walter to comment and say we should sign him lol.

7.) 20 Jun 2018 08:00:02
Issa diop was quite highly thought of, seems like a good move for West Ham?

8.) 20 Jun 2018 08:12:42
Wilshere is world class. I once saw him down a pint in under a minute, whilst smoking a roll up through each nostril.

I'd take him at my local pub team. They need some better post match entertainment because whatever the barmaid thinks, she can't sing.

9.) 20 Jun 2018 08:14:15
If you think you overrate him, glad I'm not on the receiving end.

10.) 20 Jun 2018 08:18:37
I’m listening to talksport and you would think Arsenal have released a prime Xavi! The press seem to still really rate him and see him as this youngster who had a blinder against Barca.
His last 2 seasons he’s kept fairly fit and bar a good few weeks this season he’s not been good enough, couldn’t even make the Bournemouth side last season. The teams who go for him will tell you a lot because I only see him going down and that’s even with him being available for no transfer fee.

11.) 20 Jun 2018 08:22:42
Love the pic ed and thanks for the update. Have a good one.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

12.) 20 Jun 2018 08:34:12
Nice one Ed001.

It appears the wheelchair has a puncture.

Says it all, really!

{Ed001's Note - very suited!}

13.) 20 Jun 2018 09:32:00
Just to add, West Ham signing Diop, and Sampdoria signing Colley are both absolutely brilliant signings. Those two are both fantastic, physical defenders.

14.) 20 Jun 2018 11:17:51
To be fair lads, Wilshire was highly thought of when he was coming through the Arsenal ranks.
I once saw him put in a really good performance as a 16/ 17 year old against Liverpool in the League Cup.
Mind you that was the night when Philip Degen looked good and Emiliano Insua scored a worldie!
Strange night.
But he was a very good player when he broke through, is what I mean.

15.) 20 Jun 2018 11:39:57
Please please if we sign only one more player let it be wilshire. Once he is at full fitness off the fags and booze this player will help us take second place from arsenal.
Let's hope we can get a good 5 year deal with this man.

16.) 20 Jun 2018 11:50:48
Positive Red Walter, can you please give the keyboard back to your brother, Negative.

17.) 20 Jun 2018 11:59:27
Lol knew it Walter hahaha!

18.) 20 Jun 2018 12:41:39
Salah and mk I am so positive for wilshire I know edd 1 isn't a fan but by George if he if fully fit what a player we could have.
If he were not to come I'd be upset but I would go as far as say whoever gets him it wouldn't surprise me if he gets their player of the season.

{Ed001's Note - he is bloody awful, he was fully fit for Bournemouth and they dropped him because he is crap. He was fully fit all last season for Arsenal and got dropped because, guess what, he was crap.}

19.) 20 Jun 2018 13:42:18
Hard to get in the team ahead of world class players like Xhaka, Elneny and Iwobi to be fair to him Ed001 🎣.

20.) 20 Jun 2018 13:48:30
I totally get your point edd 1 it's just I think he could really add something to the team. He would need to completely change his life style and simply focus on the football.
I don't think his heart was in the loan move which it should have been. Not many players were doing well under Arsene for the last few seasons.
I just hope he can pick up the pieces and reignite his career hopefully with us.

{Ed001's Note - but he is crap, he has no close control. His passing range is nowhere near good enough. He is weak. He is slow. Lacks workrate. He would offer nothing. He would struggle to get in the charity match teams. Actually no, he would fit in perfectly there.}

21.) 20 Jun 2018 15:08:51
He wouldn't fit in at the Charity game Ed, because he'd have tried to make it all about him 😂.

{Ed001's Note - true.}

22.) 20 Jun 2018 15:19:03
I assume Walter is referring to what he would add to the dressing room. (A bag of cans and a carton of smokes. )
I do think he could really unite the squad (against him) by getting totally scuttered at Firmino's Halloween party and being knocked the F out by Fabinho for making a pass at Rebeca. Now THAT is an exciting prospect.

23.) 20 Jun 2018 16:21:59
Best keep an XL shirt incase he does end up in your charity team ed.

{Ed001's Note - he would defo be on the other team then we can win it next time!}

24.) 20 Jun 2018 16:24:56
I'm now thinking Walter is having us on.

25.) 20 Jun 2018 17:50:15
One of these players who's personality is bigger than they are, like Ince, although Ince had talent, not near as much as he thought he had.
There is a reason people rate Wiltshire, he has got something but if you can't quit smoking for 10 years in order to be a professional, premier league footballer then you really don't want it enough.

He has natural talent and that makes him think he doesn't have to put in much effort. Thing is there are a lot of players in the prem with a high natural talent who HAVE tried and became all they can be.

I think he should see a sports psychologist but you just know he would never do that. If he cut out the cigs and dropped the ego and put in as much effort as someone like Henderson does he could be an asset to a premier league club. He will never be the player Hendo is though, he has left it too late. If he had had Jordan's dedication he could maybe have been a better player, dunno.

His career is destined to Peter out, I can see him at as many clubs as he has years left in his career. Maybe having one good season but I won't be holding my breath.

To be clear I wasn't comparing Ince and wilshere as players but more the self important image thing. Ince played for forest, utd, inter and Liverpool. Jack's played for arsenal and the cherries.

26.) 20 Jun 2018 17:52:27
No salah, might not be the popular opinion but I really do rate the feller.

27.) 20 Jun 2018 21:09:09
May I ask Walter, how many times have you seen him play? I am just failing to see how you find him any good that's all mate lol he's terrible, I think even MK would run rings around him. Well, on second thoughts maybe not ;) but you catch my drift!

Football Rumours Charity Match Review

19 Jun 2018 10:32:50
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Football Rumours Charity Match Review

1.) 19 Jun 2018 10:45:02
Possibly the funniest thing I've ever read 😂

Glad you mentioned how ugly and dirty they were, though I think you downplayed it a bit 👀.

{Ed001's Note - I did my best to remain objective and be nice about you all. I think I succeeded in remaining completely unbiased.}

2.) 19 Jun 2018 10:50:56
Brilliant, brilliant article. I can't stop laughing.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

3.) 19 Jun 2018 10:56:48
That was absolutely hilarious lol possibly the funniest you've ever done that one, absolutely fantastic.

To everybody involved you should all be proud of yourselves! really proud, what you all did was incredibly special. I will 110% be there next year and I look forward to meeting such generous people like yourselves.

Thank you Ed, that certainly brightened up my day!

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate, glad you enjoyed.}

4.) 19 Jun 2018 11:26:18
You heard it from the expert there was no dive. let's put to bed those scandalous accusations once and for all.
Loved playing with all the guys. im converted not all Scousers are bad. 😂😂
Thanks ed great write up i really enjoyed that and as all Liverpool fans say ' next year will be our year' top lads thanks for a great day.

{Ed001's Note - I hope so mate! However I seem to have been hearing that next year thing for a long long time now!}

5.) 19 Jun 2018 11:38:41
So special to see a bunch of guys off a forum act like friends
this site is truly something amazing and very special
and to your friend Ed001 hope he knows how special he was and still is also.
what a great day it seems had by all
Just a question please
who scored the best goal of the day?

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate, he was a good bloke who brightened up the life of those around him. Even when severely ill his only worry was about everyone else.}

6.) 19 Jun 2018 11:49:33
Says a lot about the fella that mate it really does
well every year from now he will be celebrated in the right way
as he should be.

{Ed001's Note - he would have loved it mate, especially being able to point out my team lost!}

7.) 19 Jun 2018 11:57:29
I haven’t seen the match yet Ed, but that review was comedy gold mate, comedy gold.

{Ed001's Note - it was a true reflection of the match. They provided the gold mate.}

8.) 19 Jun 2018 12:06:18
Great read this morning, thanks ED001.
Some of our own players certainly get worse reviews than some of those ED001 😂
Nice to see a togetherness across the different pages. I can see this growing into something special, just need Facebook to buy the rights so the global audience gets to appreciate it 😉.

{Ed001's Note - glad you enjoyed mate. Not sure FB could afford it, though we would consider shirt sponsors to raise more money for the charities....}

9.) 19 Jun 2018 12:07:42
Agree Ed, big respect to one and all involved.

{Ed001's Note - they were all great mate, even MKS.}

10.) 19 Jun 2018 12:18:16
*especially MKS.

{Ed001's Note - yes that is what I meant, of course. Even/especially very similar words.}

11.) 19 Jun 2018 12:29:21
Ed001, please show up in a full suit and tie next year 😂

Benny, I want a pre-match press conference!

{Ed001's Note - I would have to buy one to do that!}

12.) 19 Jun 2018 12:58:01
Ken will gift you one with GUINESS written across the back, and a clover leaf patterned tie.

{Ed001's Note - that sounds lovely.}

13.) 19 Jun 2018 13:52:43
Actually spat my coffee over my pc reading that! Well done everyone. If it’s same venue and I am in the country next year, happy to volunteer my services to be the team donkey - think I might change my name to Sterling 🤣.

14.) 19 Jun 2018 15:19:40
Excellent write up! Sooo funny!

Well done everyone (who is the guy in green looks a bit like carra older brother?

15.) 19 Jun 2018 15:59:53
I'm a decent player, although unfit. I would absolutely love to join in next year. What town was it held in?

16.) 19 Jun 2018 19:56:29
Top quality ed, really enjoyed reading that. Congrats to all and look forward to next year.

{Ed001's Note - thanks mate.}

17.) 19 Jun 2018 20:34:07
As Prince Hendo says above, I'd be up for playing if it was closer to me.

Apologies my mistake, Sakho is going to Palace, I meant to say WBA want him to replace Evans if a deal can't be done with Palace. I really am sorry, it was early and that was a silly mistake not to read back through and check. Thankfully Ed002 pointed it out to me.

It is nothing to do with other players and everything to do with his attitude and prior service. It is felt he deserves the opportunity to play regularly if he wants to go. While he does not really want to leave Liverpool, he does want regular first team football.

Whichever way he decides is fine by me, I am in full agreement that he has earnt the right to do what is best for him.

Ed002 has some more info on this, which he will hopefully add, and point out I made a mistake assuming a party flying from London might not mean a London club, doh!

{Ed002's Note - As of an hour or so ago Inter's business for the other player has now been concluded and they are looking to sort out the Shaquiri transaction by tonight or tomorrow morning. Their real plus point is that the player wants to move to Italy with them. Against them is that they are unable to pay the full amount upfront.

Therefore if Liverpool want to do something about Shaqiri it must be very soon - and if they are going to pay up front they must have access to the cash. They will also need to persuade the player that he should move to Liverpool.}

It is meant to be just one bet due to the competitions we are intending to run, it would be too easy to rack up lots of points by just making all the possible bets each race.

I meant to say that is why he looks so much better for his country, as it is more about the team when he is in a Brazil shirt.

You are very welcome mate. Good luck with it, just keep trying to make it difficult for him, the moment it gets easy they are not learning. If that means getting him games with much older kids, then go for it. Being pushed out of his comfort zone will take him forward. When it becomes easy and comfortable kids (and adults for that matter) can get lazy and not do that little bit extra that makes the difference.

Got ya Bardzo, sorry I understand what you mean now. Usually we editors don't swear either, and I personally don't see the problem with having to be creative with your usage of words. Usually when someone just wants to swear it is in a post that tends to be of little value anyway, as they just want to abuse someone or slag someone off rather than thinking about their words.
