Any truth in the dembele links or is he seen as a replacement for 1 of the front 3 leaving. Ousmane dembele that is.

Cheers.

CodTown

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, Klopp was interested before he went to Barca so it could just be putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 22 or it could be genuine. I will try and find out now.}

1.) 17 Jun 2019 17:33:54
Another transfer window another Demebele to Liverpool rumour. It’s like doing your taxes. You will get the notice every year!

2.) 17 Jun 2019 17:41:36
A new name every day lol. Pepe Fernandez Fekir and Dembele. It will be more BS mate given what’s been advised about Pepe only being an option if Salah leaves and the fact we won’t make any major signings.

Non starter.

3.) 17 Jun 2019 17:42:03
Let us know when you can Ed

Do you rate him? Sometimes I think he looks mustard other times pretty poor

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - very inconsistent but there is talent there.}

4.) 17 Jun 2019 17:54:23
Cheers ed and posters. Wouldn't mind him but concerned that he struggled at Barcelona making that step up in expectations how would he cope going up again lol.

5.) 17 Jun 2019 22:28:30
It’s also his lack of focus and determination.

13 Jun 2019 16:02:39
Ed002 or any eds who may know.

Can you shed any light on the recent fekir rumours. I know 002 said not to rule him out. So I'm just wondering if something has happened or has someone put 2 and 2 together and come up with 5.

Cheers.

CodTown

{Ed002's Note - It is as I have explained - don't rule him out.}

1.) 13 Jun 2019 16:49:12
Reports in France saying we are interested English reports saying we are not and haven't been since the deal went dead. Best thing to do is sit back and just wait if we don't surely we have other targets in mind. Liverpool doing it the old way and keeping everything behind closed doors.

2.) 13 Jun 2019 17:20:47
Wish we would go for bruno Fernandes, very much like Bernardo Silva, would be exactly wat we need.

3.) 13 Jun 2019 17:33:52
If Fekir does sign this time could we use the LFC footage that was recorded last year or do we have a 2019 version instead?

Recycling is good for the planet after all.

4.) 13 Jun 2019 17:38:03
If fakir had a dodgy knee before and we pulled out of the deal why would we buy him now? I hope we do buy him but I thought it was an old injury showing up on scan.

5.) 13 Jun 2019 17:45:57
I'm not sure how people struggle with this so much. We messed around Lyon on price because of his injury. Here we are now a year later, he's had an up and down year (probably because of the collapsed move, which happened after he'd already done his interview! ), he's got one year left on his contract so presumably the club now think they can get him a more realistic price given his "issues".

6.) 13 Jun 2019 20:22:38
In my opinion and understanding (eds please correct me if I’m wrong) Liverpool were right to ask for a lower fee. Full medical details should be provided by the selling club. During a medical they spotted a knee injury they weren’t told about. Hear it all the time in reference but - if you bought a car and the past owner hadn’t told you the head gasket was on the way out you’d return it or ask for a lower price, no? Also ups nd down season? 9 goals 7 assists? And a decent champions league. He’d be a great addition. But I do wonder what that means for Keïta or Ox.

Midfielders;
Milner
Lallana
Ox
Keïta
Wijnaldum
Fabinho
Henderson
Grujic
Fekir***
Curtis Jones? - made the bench and a few apps, few more this season maybe?

Realistically how many of them midfielders will Still in Liverpool players next season?

7.) 13 Jun 2019 20:37:24
All of them Davies apart from Grujic.

8.) 13 Jun 2019 20:41:34
His club are touting him about and suggesting other clubs are interested just to increase the money they can get for him. I don't think there's anything in it.

9.) 13 Jun 2019 21:55:59
I’d say we could sign him, next best option for us after Brandt went to Dortmund. If he does come I think Lallana will go.

10.) 13 Jun 2019 22:44:49
I was just about to say. It's both Grujic and Lallana that I expect to leave. Even after Lallana has said he's staying, I think the club will move him on for anything received over his purchase price.

{Ed025's Note - ten bob and a dead mouse would be fair..

11.) 13 Jun 2019 22:51:29
Still gets in your team Ed😛.

{Ed025's Note - your having a giraffe virgil, tom davies cant get in our midfield mate so how the hell lallana gets in is beyond me..

12.) 14 Jun 2019 00:38:40
To be fair sigurdsson has that place nailed down - the one that Lallana would go for. At least he’s fairly consistent goal scorer. Useless when not in the middle though.

13.) 14 Jun 2019 12:24:31
The inflation of player values is incredible in the English game though, if you think about it. Buy a player, use him for 5 years, and then sell him for more than what you paid. Ludicrous and against all conventional thinking.

14.) 13 Jun 2019 23:51:36
come on Ed25, Lallana is not a bad player, unfortunate for him he had a season to forget last year . but I expect him to bounce back . but I don't think there is place him at Liverpool, At his age if he wants first team football then he needs to move on . Everton is a good fit.

{Ed025's Note - we are trying to get rid of dead wood roy not buying it, hes too lightweight for everton mate and has seen better days, in his pomp he was a half decent player but sadly that time has well gone..

15.) 14 Jun 2019 11:44:04
This isn’t a dig Ed25 but I honestly can’t think of 1 Everton player that’s as good as Lallana at his best. He was England’s best player a couple of years ago mate.
From what I’ve seen of Tom Davies he tries hard but is lacking in the necessary talent to be top drawer.

{Ed025's Note - i think gomes, gylfi and bernard are way above anything adam can muster these days BP, he has never in his life ever been englands best player though mate...unless your glasses are tinted red..

16.) 14 Jun 2019 18:53:37
I don’t see any of those players being better than Lallana I’m afraid Ed. Unless your glasses are tinted blue.
A couple of years ago Lallana had started to score some goals for club and country and was easily England’s best player. I can’t believe you would deny that. Some people have very short memories I suppose.
Bottom line, Everton could do with his quality right now because there not much quality anywhere else in the squad ;-)

{Ed025's Note - its all about opinions BP, the thing is how the hell does he get into our midfield when he cant get into yours?, you must put work horses ahead of skillful players is the only excuse i can think of mate..

09 Jan 2019 10:21:52
Eds I hope you can forgive me asking on a Liverpool page I don't know what page to ask on.

Do you know if any big teams are interested in Antonio Marin of dinamo Zagreb. He looks another very good prospect like ante coric before him.

Apologise if not, cheers.

CodTown

{Ed002's Note - You need the European pages, but I am not aware of any interested sides - and he is only a child still.}

1.) 10 Jan 2019 08:11:23
Haha, have you been playing FM? ;) He's a great talent in there.

04 Jan 2019 17:45:06
Does anyone know if we are interested in timo Werner. And also if we are considering moving for him at all. Eds?

Cheers.

CodTown

{Ed002's Note - There is a lot of interest in TW from Spain, Italy and Germany but RBL would like him to sign a new deal, else they will look to sell him in the summer. Liverpool are not one of the sides who have approached RBL at this time - everyone who has approached them have been turned away for now. But perhaps if Liverpool were to make changes to the forward line in the summer and had the money available, then he might be someone they look to.}

1.) 04 Jan 2019 18:31:35
To be honest, I wouldn't expect any incomings during the January transfer window. This window Liverpool will concentrate on moving players that Klopp deems surplus to requirements, i. e. Solanke and Clyne. These two barely started any matches last season, let alone this season. They do not need to be replaced, we have adequate replacements already at the club, i. e. Origi, Sturridge for Solanke and Fabinho, Milner and Ki-Jana Hoever for Clyne.

In the summer transfer window I suspect we will reanalyse certain positions, i. e. back up keeper, possible right full back, back up left back. if no fringe or youth players are able to make the step up by then.

No need to panic. The players currently at our disposal have got us in this position, 4 points ahead of the previous champions. Now is not the time to change what has clearly been effective. Adding a new player, regardless of price and quality, could have a negative impact on the squad, i. e. settling in period, player replaced being affected by the new addition and having a detrimental effect on other players.

I say we go with what we have, sell or loan out the fringe players that Klopp does not believe will aid our title charge and leave it at that. Happy with the season so far and hoping, by May, we will be celebrating a trophy by the end of it.

Fingers Crossed.

2.) 04 Jan 2019 19:45:48
There ya go everyone, we can stop with the Werner rumours and posts now.

3.) 04 Jan 2019 20:03:13
It was mentioned in the sharkopod that RBL desperately wanted rid of jean-kevin Augustin, wondered why that was Ed as he was highly rated at one stage I think?

{Ed002's Note - He has been trouble and they want him gone - I am not going to go in to detail but one incident was particularly nasty and involved another player. Rangnick has supported him further than he should have.}

4.) 04 Jan 2019 20:24:10
Oh fair enough mate had no idea. Stay well clear then? Thanks for your info as always!

5.) 05 Jan 2019 14:04:11
The summer will probably be one of consolidation addressing the squad rather than the first team.

I still think we haven't got the number 10 position wholly sorted as good as Shaqiri has been at times.

We need back ups for both right and left back positions, and probably a goal keeper. We probably need one central midfielder if Lallana and Milner both go, and I guess a striker if both Origi and Sturridge leave.

I'm of the view that we should always look to find players better than we've got for the first team, but as our first team is now very strong it's an a struggle suggesting anyone we could realistically afford as we won't get the likes of Mbappe etc

Anyone got any thoughts?

12 Aug 2018 11:51:54
I no we'd all love to see Liverpool at full tilt today but the most important thing is the 3 points. I'd take a 1- 0 win today just to get points on the board let city be the pace setters and be the team who everyone focuses on and Chase down while we quietly go about our business. Get some momentum and a winning mentality before we start putting on a show.

CodTown

1.) 12 Aug 2018 15:23:25
I mean, 3 points and a 4-0 is fun as well.

2.) 12 Aug 2018 15:28:57
Or not then haha.

3.) 12 Aug 2018 15:57:13
Forget the score Milly's free kick being stopped by ale House jack wilsheres sack was epic.

4.) 12 Aug 2018 16:34:05
It was his only contribution but you have to give it to Wilshere, it was a ballsy move.

5.) 12 Aug 2018 17:35:38
You could say the freekick was nuts.

6.) 12 Aug 2018 18:29:59
Or you could say that it was cracking.

7.) 12 Aug 2018 20:08:50
Iron Man 🤣 I nominate that for post of the week 👍.

8.) 12 Aug 2018 20:24:22
So Wilshere got sacked?

9.) 12 Aug 2018 20:34:55
he racked up some points for that move for sure.

10.) 13 Aug 2018 06:15:51
It took some spunk to make that challenge!

11.) 13 Aug 2018 07:56:12
That challenge was bollocks.

12.) 13 Aug 2018 16:56:36
At least someone put him to the test -icles.

13.) 14 Aug 2018 21:39:02
Wilshere can become a farmer now. he's got two acres.

14.) 14 Aug 2018 22:22:12
But why did the ref stop the game at that point? In his defence I suppose when they made the rule about stopping the game for head injuries they didn’t say which head!

15.) 15 Aug 2018 08:04:44
We'll let Deeney decide whether wilshere lacks the cojones after putting in that block.

I've just seen a comment on social media saying - firmino needs to add more to his game if he wants to be premier league level 🤦‍♂️

Stop the planet I want to get off!

CodTown

1.) 17 Sep 2019 15:08:53
Lol, that's social media for you mate.

2.) 17 Sep 2019 17:56:40
Let the people view bobby how they like we as liverpool family appreciate the lad and he knows that. Really if that's how people view him it at least stops "elite teams" sticking a bid every cloud an all that.

3.) 17 Sep 2019 18:27:24
That comment was probably meant to be "trolling" or a wind up.

Basically it's just telling lies.

4.) 18 Sep 2019 09:08:20
People like easily grasped things, otherwise it becomes too taxing for the brain. So it's easier to grasp the easier stereotype of a free-scoring striker like Kane or Aguero. People love a 20 goal striker. Much more difficult to accept the idea that we have a striker who enables us to have two 20 goal forwards, not just one, and yet still score a decent amount of goals himself.

My own personal take on the liverpool v Manchester city debate.

For me it comes down to rodri. I no he's a good player but my thoughts are what are his concentration levels like. We saw with mignolet moving from a team Sunderland to liverpool that he had much less shots to deal with and he switched off because of inactivity. City will have a lot of the ball so will rodri be able to stay focused with not having a lot to deal with defensively. Fernandinho could but can rodri.

I also agree they have not replaced kompany and that will tell in the 2nd half of the season when tired legs kick in. Who's going to pick the lads up to keep going rather than let fatigue win. Not to mention his experience and quality at the back.

Pep also was showing signs of frustration in the community game. And that won't send a good message to his players. Abit like when spurs lose their heads when Leicester won the league. They came 3rd in a 2 horse race.

Liverpool have kept their best players. However they are also relying on origi to continue his good form and young players to fill in too. This could end up with another trent situation of being excellent or could be the difference in 1st and 2nd. Either way I think both teams have it in them to both win the league but also fade away.

CodTown

1.) 09 Aug 2019 18:23:57
I think Keita and Firmino are key. If they have good seasons we win it for me.

2.) 09 Aug 2019 18:32:14
I can't see Rodri being the be all end all for City. In my opinion Sane may be a huge blow to their season. I watched a lot of City games towards the back end of last season, praying they would slip up with a draw to give us that point lead we were all dribbling over. My observation was for a number of games, teams held City whether that was missed chances or defensively sound. Around the 60-70 minute mark, Sane would join their attack and teams simply could not handle the width and pace of City.
With Sane out, I wonder whether City will cope with stalemate situations.
That being said, they were without De Bruyne who is a beast at changing games.
Enjoy the opponionated rant and 3 points tonight lads and ladies!

3.) 10 Aug 2019 04:21:03
I think rodri is a good player and a sensible signing but he's clearly the one who will be tasked with taking fernandinhos role. Fernandinho has been so crucial in city's recent success that it's hard to see rodri offering much more improvement in that area, if he can match the quality of fernandinho that would be great for city but there's realistically a chance he may be a downgrade in that role. Losing kompany has weakened them and sane is a big loss too. They are 1 man weaker in CB and 1 man weaker in attack. Cancelo and angelino aren't much more than danilo and delph. They are strong as ever in midfield but the loss of 2 imoortant players in defence and attack have reduced their quality I feel. Fernandinho, d. silva, aguero getting into mid 30s can't be guaranteed to offer the top class performances of the last 5+ years. Hard to see where city can show any improvement this year.

08 Aug 2019 15:08:32
Ed001 a question if I can.

I'm sure you can understand some of us fans feeling a little tense not signing a exciting 1st team player.

But are you confident of us kicking on again next season or do you think we should have brought 1 big player if that's the right phrase in.

Cheers.

CodTown

{Ed001's Note - I am perfectly happy with what we have got.}

1.) 08 Aug 2019 15:24:25
Cheers ed. Your positivity enhances my confidence that, Brewster, hoever, sep, and Elliott will supplement the main 11 nicely. And ox, naby, gomez and lallana will push players on now all fit.

2.) 08 Aug 2019 16:25:07
I disagree with Ed001 on this. I think we have missed out on bringing in a top player to play across all 3 front positions. It's a big ask for all our front 3 to be at the top of their game all season and go the whole campaign injury free. A back up to Robbo would also have been nice. Only time will tell. Either way, I will be there singing myself hoarse.

3.) 08 Aug 2019 16:29:10
Think you're being a tad premature with Elliott there, although he did score his first goal for us last night.
Would love to see Brewster light the blue touchpaper this season.

4.) 08 Aug 2019 16:38:01
How could we have missed out bringing in a top player when we were actively looking to buy players but those players did not want to come unless they were first choice? That suggests we were not after bench fodder.

Klopp earlier on in the window stated that we were looking at bringing in players. If those players did not want to come then what else do you want Klopp to do Rome? Sign another Moreno who would not have improved us.

5.) 08 Aug 2019 16:38:39
Rome who and what big player wanted to to come and sit on the bench? We are not a team who spends 60m on a player to sit on the sidelines! I get your frustration but not much we can do mate!

6.) 08 Aug 2019 16:49:04
I agree very happy with what we have.

The front 3 weren't on top form all of last season. Bobby was a long way off his form of the previous season, Salah wasn't as good either. As a three they will be better this year. Brewster is a step up from Sturridge. The midfield is a lot stronger, I expect Fabs, Keita, Shaq, Ox, Lallana all to have better seasons. At some point in the season we may have to change system due to us being well stocked in midfield. Example Ox or Shaq behind a front 2 would still be very effective.

Disagee with you on some points Cod. Don't count on Sep and Elliot etc they are just in the door and Elliot is still at school. I like Curtis Jones but don't think he will get game time either. We have 22 players inc Brewster the other kids are after this.

7.) 08 Aug 2019 17:06:54
Have i missed something? What players turned us down because they didn't want to sit on the bench? That's just hearsay. I will stand corrected. And where does the figure of 60 million come from? Did one of our front 3 cost anywhere near that? No.
Followed us since 1977 and I'm struggling to think of another summer when we bought nobody, and we've obviously had table topping sides in that period and still strengthened.

8.) 08 Aug 2019 17:17:20
Lol you do know the transfer market as changed since 1977 lol just look at the money players have gone for in this transfer window silly money.

9.) 08 Aug 2019 16:54:24
Ed001 is the full back who has just joined City any good?
I read he can play left back as well.

We are shopping in a different market to City, £200m on full backs and if it doesn't work City will just buy 2 new £50m full backs.

{Ed001's Note - Cancelo? Only seen him play at left back and he was awful. Apparently he is a right back so I don't know what he is like in his natural role.}

10.) 08 Aug 2019 17:31:53
To quote Ed002, let's not talk about money. It's all relative anyway. I'm merely expressing an opinion that I wish we had strengthened in 2 positions. I don't see what's hilarious in my point, Tim.

For the record, I'm still positive about the coming season and am priviliged to be able to follow us home and away.

11.) 08 Aug 2019 17:38:16
Yea Cancelo.

Thanks for the work and the answer.

12.) 08 Aug 2019 17:48:39
Name the positions then name two players who could improve our first eleven.

13.) 08 Aug 2019 17:53:06
I like the underlying approach we’re taking with transfers - spend big when you find someone who’ll genuinely strengthen the first team, or else buy in talented juniors to the u23s and then tap the academy when someone really stands out.

Beats spending some money on halfway house options that cost money but are still a big risk eg the likes of Balotelli, Markovic etc.

So far with Klopp, the first approach has yielded Mane, Salah, Keita, Fabinho, VVD, Alisson, and then Trent, Gomez and hopefully Brewster now in the latter, with the likes of Elliott, Hoever, Sepp and others in the wings.

14.) 08 Aug 2019 18:31:31
Tim, throughout the thread I've never mentioned the "first 11"
I've clearly stated, and have on here throughout the summer, that I thought we should have bought another left back and a forward to cover all 3 front positions.
If you want me to be whimsical then Mbappe and Kante could improve our first 11!

15.) 08 Aug 2019 18:52:51
Rome77, you are like the rest of your ilk on here. You go on and on about "missing out on a top player" (whatever the heck that means) yet don't mention who that player would be. Also, you must be new here cos if you weren't, you would know that Ed01 said we did try to bring in players to help with rotation esp. in attack but those players did not want to come and fill that role.

So what top player wants to come here and rotate with our say front three when even Pepe (who is NOT a top player yet) wouldn't even come and do that here. This is my gripe with such comments like yours. They are void of any context or reasoning.

16.) 08 Aug 2019 19:06:47
Rome’s been here for years Redwolf and completely entitled to his opinions. He’s been going home and away inc Europe for years so wind yer neck in.

17.) 08 Aug 2019 20:02:37
Alrite Pompey he does like to try and force his opinions on people. 1977 we have always bought players but that over previous seasons is what got us into a mess. We spent money under the last few managers on a lot of crap with the odd exceptions.

The wasted money is one of the main reasons why it took a couple of seasons for the owners to fully trust Klopp. He proved himself beyond doubt and we went all in and spent £250m to turn us into a top 5 European side (probably better than that) . IMO the right players at a decent price weren't available. But I have heard we are planning for next season and I expect a couple of signings. At least one will be Allison, VVD, Mane quality he plays in Germany.

18.) 08 Aug 2019 21:07:59
I'm not forcing my opinions on anyone. People counter my opinions all the time BUT you will never see me "moan" like a snowflake, whining that someone is trying to impose their opinions on me. I am more than secure in my ability to have an honest debate about issues.

I have my opinions and I defend them to the fullest as it is my right to do so, as it is your right to counter my opinion and prove me wrong if you actually believe in what you are saying. If you can't or won't then that is your problem, not mine. Peace!

19.) 08 Aug 2019 22:33:44
Thank you for your support, Pompey. I won't lower myself to your level, Redwolf and say what I'd like to say.
Suffice to say, my knowledge of top players around the world is limited and "top player" is subjective anyway. I just think, and hope I'm wrong, that we may live to regret not strengthening in the positions I have said.
I'm sure we will be stood next to each other, home and away, in the coming season, singing our heads off.

20.) 09 Aug 2019 20:10:56
To be honest it’s quite funny watching United getting snubbed by top class players and overspending on Maguire then seeing Spurs getting scared off by Dybala’s wages and haggling themselves out of other deals. Arsenal and Leicester have done well mind.
