Hi Eds. is the Milner deal done? Carra is all but confirming it but nothing official has been announced.

Cheers
Carl

Omar Abdulraham looks a good playmaker. Reports we are interested. Any truth in it Eds? Cheers

Carlfisher01

{Ed002's Note - I would not be surprised about interest in Abdulrahman but cannot confirm anything at this time.}

14 Dec 2013 23:26:42
Hey Eds, is McGeady an option? Reports suggest Everton but he looks like he could be good value. What's your thoughts/intel?

Carlfisher01

{Ed001's Note - not good enough, little interest from anyone, though his agent is desperately trying to get him a move and has been for years.}

01 Sep 2013 19:55:09
Eds: Great to see the trio of signings at Anfield today. Do you think we will buy or sell anyone else? {Ed001's Note - possibly. Hard to be sure, a lot will depend on who leaves now.}

Eds, do you have any intel on Kent's future at LFC. Has he done enough to be considered a squad player this season or his he in need of a loan again. To me he needs game time. Maybe not at Liverpool but a loan to another Prem side would help his development perhaps. That or a good cup run and lesser leave games might give him the opportunity.

Would be nice to see one of the youngsters break through this season. Pretty sure we will get injuries to either Mane or Salah.

Your thoughts are welcome.

Cheers.

Carlfisher01

{Ed001's Note - so far he is impressing enough to get himself on the bench and in for cup games.}

I can honestly say the whole LFC transfer saga is embarrassing. It seems like every transfer window we get into a tug of war over the seemingly worlds best talents because we don't want to pay the asking price. There's offering below the asking price and there's taking the p**s! And we constantly do the latter, trying our best to buy well below the price stated by clubs. I'm all for negotiation, but we'll end up with the worst reputation across Europe at this rate. I love a good deal, but evidence shows. You buy cheap you buy twice. One good player at a time for me. If we've highlighted a player we want, then get him or no one else. If we continually go in at what WE think the players worth we'll end up with a very mediocre side. I really don't know if the market of buying bargain players exists any more. Wenger doesn't even do it as much these days. He splashes the cash where it's needed. I'm not saying Teixeira is worth the asking price, but if he's what we want and need, why oh why do we play games. It gets to the point that we all end up desperate to sign the player and he may my even be any good. Our transfer policy has just not moved with the times for me. Everyone else seems to have a less drawn out negotiation process, perhaps because they don't go in 35% below asking price and start a little somewhere more realistic. Sorry to moan guys, I just can't stand seeing Willian, Sanches and more adding quality to competitor sides for the sake of an extra £5mill here and there. It's not like there's and endless amount of top quality players any more. Rant over! We'll probably sign him now 😂😂😂.

Carlfisher01

1.) 28 Jan 2016 20:26:29
I don't really know how anyone could complain that we don't splash the cash. If we don't value the player at that price, which I think is way too high, then why pay it for the sake of it? that's not how business works.

2.) 28 Jan 2016 20:41:18
Difference between trying to save money and only wanting to pay what you think he is worth. If klopp And the club value him at less than 38 million, why would we pay it?

3.) 28 Jan 2016 20:55:53
Carlfisher01,I totally agree mate. we like the player, we know how much they want. bid a few mill less, if they say no, then offer what they want. in today's prices personally I think he's worth the money.

4.) 28 Jan 2016 20:57:05
It would be more embarrassing if we get saddled with a £38m flop.

5.) 28 Jan 2016 21:00:27
I think you miss understood. It's not about splashing the cash, it's about identifying players then low balling the selling club. I don't want us to spend needlessly, I'd just rather not buy the next player down the line, save the money and maybe let the youth player develop. One good player at a time means we will need to utilise the younger squad players. We seem to just miss out on the top player and buy the next best thing. Balotelli being a perfect example. I think we agree, I'd also rather not waste money. Perhaps Klopp will be less wasteful and decide to stick with what he's got. The next actions this window will show us what Klopps all about I suppose. For example, no to Tex and promote Canos or our very own Teixeira. Let's see.

6.) 28 Jan 2016 21:11:25
The difference is Alex tex is 100% suited to our game, he has lighting pace and a great goal record from playing as a AM not a striker.
There was loads of us on here before we signed benteke saying he's just not going to suit our style and why are we waisting 32.5m when we all new ings would suit us better and he was free.
The frustration now is we can all see that Alex tex would be really great In a klopp team, suit us perfectly but we're not willing to pay up, but we paid up for benteke which is a joke to be honest.
Klopp is suffering from Rodgers' mistakes.

7.) 28 Jan 2016 21:19:58
Great goal record maybe, but in a lesser league. Quite a few pens in there too! Not slating him but he won't come in this window and he's not the saviour.

8.) 28 Jan 2016 21:28:15
Coutinho

Klopp was bought to correct Rodgers Mistake.
I agree with your point on Tex. He is a fantastic player. Incredible pace, trickery and natural goal scorers unlike others who want runners ahead of them or space.
This bloke score goals something we are way short of it.

9.) 28 Jan 2016 22:03:27
Sorry to say this but if Liverpool was selling the player I would what the most u can get for him . So why are we always trying to get players on the cheap .

10.) 28 Jan 2016 23:33:54
I don't understand your arguments about pay what they want? At the end of the day we're a club who has fallen from grace to a certain extent and with a good few years without a lot of champions league football, success in other competitions and a loss on a lot of players we have spent big on, where do you expect us to pull the money out from?

The club has to budget to help klopp achieve success, maybe spending more than what we want to spend on tex has a knock on effect where we cannot spend that extra 10-15 million on a world class player klopp has identified in the summer? Also as good as tex looks is he going to be that guaranteed success for that money? Coming from the Ukraine and no international experience it's a gamble for the price quoted. Look at the money we spent on firmino and he hasn't been the amazing player we hoped, although with a few more years I think he can be.

As fans we want the best and I know I get annoyed when we miss out on targets I think would be great for us but I'm also sick of stacking our squad with overpriced players like benteke, lallana, Allen etc and losing money when we try to sell. I would personally prefer us to save the 50 million quoted and go back in the summer looking for a reasonable price or my preference use that money to get a player who would guarantee success, or as close to as is possible, like a reus, koke, gotze, hummells etc.

11.) 29 Jan 2016 00:17:43
I would imagine 99% of Liverpool fans had never heard of Alex teixeira before this January transfer window (I mean who really follows the Ukrainian league? ), and yet 99% of fans now believe he is the only answer.

Football fans are just terribly fickle.

{Ed002's Note - Surely they must of heard of Tex?}

12.) 29 Jan 2016 00:33:49
Another post saying, "oh, just pay the money and get the player and bla, bla, bla". You mean like we did for Benteke, Carroll, Downing, Marko, Lallana and many others under BR? Easy to say that when it's not your money and you're not the one to personally suffer if we go into really deep debt. I agree that we seem to go for players we either can't afford or doesn't wanna come here (see Salah, MK, Costa, Kono, Kovacic) instead of focusing on players we can actually get who fit the way we play like Couts and Studge were. As good as Tex may be, no one really knows if he'll do the job because at that price, he will need to deliver immediately. Just look how long it took Firmino to get going and he's still no there yet. I'd rather we keep our money because to me, he ain't worth that money and I do not support us willing to overpay for an uncapped, unproven 26 yr old in a poor league just so some fans can get their way. As Ron said, he could be a flop and what do we do the, Bigsqueeze? We already have a couple on our hands and another one in waiting. I say, keep our money and allow Klopp to try and fix BR's pathetic mistakes and the mess he has left Klopp with.

13.) 29 Jan 2016 00:41:42
Ed002. Your sarcasm is absolutely world-class.

22 Oct 2015 00:08:05
Will be interesting to see what happens with joao teixeira. Another kid who has potential needing games! quick question. Eds, is illori returning out of the question? I think most fans would like to see him get a genuine chance for first team. Is the Villa deal restrictive of us calling an end to his loan? Sorry if you've done this one to death.

Carlfisher01

{Ed001's Note - it is very unlikely he will return, he wanted to leave, unless Villa decide not to make the deal permanent. Klopp wants to have a look at all the players on our books, but Ilori is not even getting games to take a look at him.}

1.) 22 Oct 2015 06:26:44
Looking at Villa not even playing him or putting him on team sheet, how can they possibly evaluate him ? Don't see how they will buy him as it is, opinions?

{Ed001's Note - depends on the next manager really, and whether he actually has balls or whether he just talks a lot of balls like the current manager.}

2.) 22 Oct 2015 06:50:28
That seems a bit odd Ed? ! If I were Klopp and I wanted to see all the players and they were not getting time on their loan then I'd enquire about a breakage. The man must have seen footage of the U21 Euros until he got injured to see it is with looking first hand. Even get over to an AV reserve game or something like that? ! Also Players sentiments regarding clubs and leaving / staying often change with new management and on the reverse to the point I make about Klopp putting himself out to view surely a player who has yet to really break into first team football consistently surely he would like to impress in whatever way he can? !

{Ed001's Note - how is it odd? It is not as simple as you are making out. Villa have paid money for a contract to take him on loan with a view to buy, it would then cost us money to buy them out of the contract and we would then have the lad's wages back on the books too. So it is a lot of money being spent merely to have a look at a possibility. As for get over to a reserve game, do you not think he will do if he can, or at least get someone to check him out if not? I don't see your point there. It was just that the level of those games is no indicator of his ability. It is impossible to judge an on loan player on a reserve game appearance.}

3.) 22 Oct 2015 07:02:58
My point is we have Sakho! On the player front I would be thinking Sakho yes I could work with him, Skrtel hmm I can replace him and I am not getting my chances here. On the club front I would be thinking get a feel for whether Villa are really serious about this guy or whether actually we can take back and view. It really is not that much money you are talking about when you consider the less than gambles we have made recently - the Balo' debacle, the Markovic debarcle, need I go on? That is my point!

{Ed001's Note - except you are saying we should just carry on spanking money away because that is what we have done in the past. Makes no sense whatsoever. I would like us to learn from our mistakes, not compound them like you are asking for. We are in huge amounts of debt, we need to cut spending, not increase it.}

4.) 22 Oct 2015 07:35:02
Forgive me also for questioning your knowledge of the contract but unless you are part of the LFC legal team I expect that you know not a great deal more than I about it? ! My humble view is that if the contract was as straight forward as you suggest in the "with the view to buy" area then it is a totally one sided contract. Loan deals are never written I such a way that the loaner club has no benefit and so there is either a over inflated buying value or an opportunity for loaner to retract. Otherwise it is not just half the squad needing to be replaced but the legal team too! Ok so we get his wages paid but we'd have done that if we had just sold him - there has to be a reason we never? !

{Ed001's Note - I give up, you have no idea what you are talking about, this is just pointless. Humble is not a word you understand. One sided? He wanted out, do you not understand??? Or are you going to give me more of your clearly ignorant bull about no such thing as one sided contracts?}

5.) 22 Oct 2015 07:50:36
Reading this I think you might be missing Sid's point Ed sorry to say.

{Ed001's Note - no I am not, he is missing the point, as clearly are you. Pointless conversation I am done with it. If you can't understand then I am wasting my time, as usual.}

6.) 22 Oct 2015 07:55:25
Ok I give up too! I don't know you and therefore not familiar with the level and span of knowledge you actually have (including, I recall, purported French National Team knowledge as to why Payet doesn't get a chance - a player that has been accepted well at West Ham) but I personally do have some knowledge myself around the subject of our discussion yet seem to be knocked down in conversation. Ok let's move on! I.

{Ed001's Note - purported? Oh for heaven's sake! I give up. You really are making yourself look stupid now. I won't waste my time on you again, you are admitting ignorance, but still want to try and make out you are in the know. This is like having a discussion with Harry or a brick wall.}

7.) 22 Oct 2015 07:59:36
If a player wants out then decide if you want to try to turn his views which had been done on one or two grander scales or wouldn't you just sell? I see his point. Not sure I care about Ilori right now but see the point.

{Ed001's Note - clearly you don't see the point, as you are also missing it by a mile. How many offers did we get matching the valuation we placed on him? You know so we could 'just sell' as you said to. Oh wait none.}

8.) 22 Oct 2015 09:09:57
If Villa are not playing him, it's possible they won't pay the agreed fee to make the move permanent or he won't want to stay there.
In that case he would be our player again. Then it gets interesting and will depend on what Ilori wants to do. If he still wants to leave, I imagine it will happen. If he wants to fight for a place with the new management then I imagine that will happen.
Currently we are 3rd in line for making decisions. 1) Ilori 2) Villa 3) LFC and nothing is likely to happen before next summer.

9.) 22 Oct 2015 11:12:00
Plus if Villa get relegated? !

10.) 22 Oct 2015 11:18:37
I think the biggest points are these
1.Nobody wanted him, certainly NOT for the fee we expected
2.Its in your own remarks, Villa aren't even playing him, Villa, I'll say it again, Villa, So why would we be so desperate to get him back to replace any of our experienced centre backs whether you rate them or not? I rate ALL our centre backs better than ALL of theirs and he can't get a game with them,
I really wish our fans would get a grip when it comes to their unrelenting support of our youth players and lads in reserve, granted we paid for Ilori but they don't all make it and clearly something isn't right otherwise he'd be playing
Hes gone move on.

11.) 22 Oct 2015 12:53:00
Pretty sure the payet problems were pretty common in the media too, I'm not sure it needed purporting as such.

12 Jul 2015 14:15:00
Hey Eds. sorry I know the Benteke question is probably doing your head in. Just interested to hear your opinion. Do you think we will get the deal done? Is the united interest genuine? Any activity from them? Be a shame to miss out as top strikers are hard to come by, despite mixed opinions, there's not many options available who would come to lfc, or we could afford!

Carlfisher01

{Ed001's Note - yes, yes, not that I am aware of.}

Eds, does that sort of stuff happen (media tricks)?

Carlfisher01

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool fans are seemingly of the opinion that media hacks sit around the office plotting stories about Liverpool. In reality they can be found in cheap bars playing spoof - which is difficult when they have palms on both sides of their hands.}

I don't understand why not. How can he be identified as a top player one minute and then not good enough the next minute eds? As a free signing it's a no brainer even if sterling stays.

A little dramatic don't you think. A young kid who thinks he's a world beater wants to leave and the club is in turmoil. Not sure I agree. Sterling is good, but there are better players. QPR and Newcastle is a little extreme. Also, pushing a kid into a corner? I'm sure the salary on offer is way beyond most 19,20 year olds. I'm pretty sure he got a nice break at Christmas too. £100k a week and a sebatical. Sorry, not meaning to be heavy handed with you Eds, it's the whole Sterling situation that's all a bit rich. Every year someone wants to hold the club to ransom. Unless you know something we don't I can't see what the club has done wrong.

Carlfisher01

{Ed001's Note - you clearly are only reading the crap put out in the media by the club about him holding the club to ransom over money. It was never about the money as we have told you repeatedly. We have allowed a manager to mess about with a young lad's career and now he wants to move on and win something, as he knows we will never win anything under Rodgers.}
