Is there anything in the Sturridge to arsenal link? Hopefully not 🙏🏻 if he can stear clear of injuries next season I can see him scoring 30+.

Bosco

1.) 08 May 2016 11:26:51
Here here, we must keep hold of Danny. Injury free he could go on to be a pool great.

2.) 08 May 2016 11:44:46
Easy journalism mate. Arsenal are crying out for a goal scorer and the press make out Sturridge is unhappy because of Klopps decision to not field him in certain games.
Sturridge will be with us next season.

3.) 08 May 2016 12:02:26
I'm really looking foreword to seeing what Studge can do with out all the pressure on him, as with Origi, ings and Firmino, we have plenty of options so we can protect Studge somewhat and not rely on him doing 95 mins every game.

4.) 08 May 2016 15:21:55
Arsenal need a Central striker and could be a possible to move in for Sturridge. Sturridge compliments the style and nature of Arsenal players and system. There is still time for an interest to happen.

5.) 08 May 2016 16:01:12
Has anything actually been said bar media of sturridge being unhappy? Klopp was just talking about how he feels ready to "release" him from the shackles as he felt he was nearly back to 100%. I haven't read or heard anything directly from sturridge so is it just media reading into random facial expressions or acting unhappy at being taken off?

6.) 08 May 2016 20:27:09
Sturridge made a little comment after last Thursday's match relating to what he can do if he is played. That suggests he expects to play when fit.

I wonder if he may want guarantees on first team football and whether he might consider other options if they are not given.

7.) 09 May 2016 18:27:56
I think journalists are adding 2+2 and getting 5. Daniel Sturridge is unhappy not be playing which is exactly how you want any player to be, would you be happy if his attitude was "oh well I'm getting paid anyway"

8.) 10 May 2016 03:48:34
Sturridge has himself said he's happy and understands why klopp is using him sparingly after being injured for most of the season, it's just good sense. Any money he starts in Switzerland.

09 Jan 2016 23:10:01
Rumours saying we will listen to offers for sturridge? Surely not!

Bosco

1.) 09 Jan 2016 23:45:16
I hope not.

2.) 09 Jan 2016 23:46:03
Why not? He's an undoubted talent when fit but when fit is the big point. He's a player lfc can do without having to carry for most of the season.

3.) 10 Jan 2016 00:40:03
If someone offered us 25m for him i'd bite their hands off.

4.) 10 Jan 2016 00:40:56
There are only a handful of clubs that could afford his wages and I really can't see any of them being interested so it's sort of a moot point whether we would or wouldn't.

5.) 10 Jan 2016 00:57:43
If an offer came in and he wanted to go let him. Other than that honour our contract.

6.) 10 Jan 2016 01:28:15
Dorset I feel Suarez has rubbed off on you during his time here lol.

The whole Sturridge thing is a tough one. Love the man to bits but if he is not going to be fit what else can we do.

7.) 10 Jan 2016 01:39:05
Sell Sturridge, buy Pato and bring Balotelli back.

Makes perfect sense 🤔.

8.) 10 Jan 2016 01:56:40
Seriously, what club owner, DOF, chairman or manager, in the EPL, would spend money on Sturridge right now?

Would you? in the January transfer window buy somebody's problem, big transfer fee, taxes, agents fees and colossal wages to warm the physio table with no evidence of remediation?

Even if he were officially up for sale, which he clearly is not, it doesn't make one iota of financial sense for any club to be slightly interested, it's not viable nor feasible.

9.) 10 Jan 2016 02:02:23
Depends on what the money would be used for after the sale.

If you sell Sturridge to buy Lacazette or Aubameyang, then it may be justifiable. But if you're selling him to buy another static ill-fitting target man, that requires "service" to succeed, then no.

10.) 10 Jan 2016 08:52:35
In a way it is academic. Sturridge seems to be permanently injured.

That report comes from the Mirror.

He is very good, but, if he doesn't want to play for us?

I have heard Tottenham like him and he wants to go there.

{Ed001's Note - did you wake up after you heard that about Spurs?}

11.) 10 Jan 2016 09:13:56
Ed where has all this talk of Sturridge being sold come from all of a sudden?

{Ed001's Note - no idea.}

12.) 10 Jan 2016 09:17:44
Are there any clubs in the Premier league desperate for home grown players to make up their quota with more money than sense available?

If a club had a large squad also maybe it would not have such an affect or be so reliant on Danny having to play each week.

The SaS - Sturridge and Sterling double act?!

{Ed001's Note - they don't need players to make up any quota. Where did you get that from? There is no requirement to have X amount of home grown players in the Prem.}

13.) 10 Jan 2016 09:59:25
I assumed you had to have a squad of 25 players with at least 8/ 9 of them homegrown. On top of that as many U21's players any team wants regardless of nationality? Apologies if I've got that wrong. I assumed that was why City chased the likes of Delph and kept Richard Wright on the books.

{Ed002's Note - It works the other way around Tel. A club is limited to 17 players over 21 who are not homegrown. There is no requirement to have any homegrown players at all unless you have a squad of between 18 and 25 players over 21.}

14.) 10 Jan 2016 10:05:13
In this moment Sturridge is unavailable, and it remains to be seen whether he will become available anytime soon. How long is long enough to wait for him to regain strength and conditioning, at the bare minimum it's the start of next season before we see him fit and firing, injury free for six months. Then there's no guarantee that he remains that way. But what if he does? I can honestly say that when he is fit there is not a single striker in the prem I'd swap him with, I've no doubt that if he didn't have these injury issues he would be on his way to being up there with the greatest strikers we have ever had.

It's getting harder to see the light at the end of the Sturridge tunnel, but it's still there. Have we got 18 months to wait to find out? Do we have the required back up? Can we purchase a striker that gets 1 in 2 or even 1 in 3? In ways I'm glad it's not my decision to make, but do I trust the club with this decision?

I don't want to see him go as its one of those that if he leaves he will become fit and score loads, but if he stays he will remain injury prone, it's the way of the football gods. I guess for me it's the feeling that we can not replace his talent, we can't replace his goals, fair enough there's bugger all in this moment but we know what he can do, we also know and have seen the many failed attempts by the club and previous management that they can't pick a goal scorer like him. Does this change with Klopp? I hope so, as we have always had prolific strikers and this just isn't the way it's meant to be.

I can say I want him to remain no doubt, I can't say let's sell and replace, without being full of doubt and fear that it's goes horribly wrong. With the talent he is and what he is capable of I'm willing to give him 18 months, we have given a lot worse a lot longer to get it right.

In this moment, I Believe.

15.) 10 Jan 2016 11:50:09
Pay as you play!

16.) 10 Jan 2016 11:58:44
Just to be clear Ed02.

You can have 17 players not homegrown in a squad 18-25 players. I recall Chelsea only using 20 players last year as they only had 3/ 4 homegrown players. If a squad wants to use the maximum 25 players they need to have 7/ 8 homegrown players I think. In effect a sliding scale where the bigger squad you use/ register the more homegrown players needed. Does that make sense what I'm trying to ask?

{Ed002's Note - That is not how the rules are written, they are much simpler. Maximum squad size = 25 over 21s. Maximum non-HG - 17.}

17.) 10 Jan 2016 12:14:06
In response to the original post, I'm sure Ed002 can assist our understanding (again) - but my understanding is the club is not in a position to "not listen" to any offers.
Why would they? If someone offered £80m for Sturridge they'd be fools to say "blah blah blah we're not listening".

Every player has a value, every player is for sale if the right offer came in.

{Ed002's Note - I went through this in November - you should be able to search.}

18.) 10 Jan 2016 12:14:06

{Ed002's Note - I would not expect to see Sturridge sold in January - you need to go back to around November in the search engine where I explained that it is time for him to move on. I don't see any significant offers for players coming in this month. The club were relaying on loans-to-buy balancing the books in June

19.) 10 Jan 2016 15:18:40
I cannot see anyone offering more than 10-12 million for him currently. Real shame he has had such a bad injury list.

20.) 10 Jan 2016 14:51:05
theres no doubt that he has a talent, but that's when he is fully fit not just 98% or 99% but a 100% because he won't play if he is only 99% fit, again we all know he can score goals when he is fit but he is never fit i would rather him be in some one elses sick room instead of in ours all the time, if he would play through some pain after being told he is fit to play then i would say givve him a chance but he won't even do that so i would sell him let him drain an other clubs wages for not playing and with the money i would get from the sturridge deal i would put it towards another top scorer.

21.) 10 Jan 2016 18:17:38
I think if we are to sell him, and most likely we will, then it should be done in the summer. I have no doubt Sturridge will become super fit in April where he will play most games till end of season, he'll score few goals and get himself in the England Squad for the Euros.
Then we should sell, because I'll have no doubt he will come back from the Euro's injuried and he will miss half of next season.

22.) 10 Jan 2016 19:40:14
Stuff is of no use to us if he can't play. In fact, he can't even train consistently for a week. People keep saying when Studge gets fit, this and that will happen. When will that happen? Do people think Klopp has time to wait and see for the next eighteen months to see what happens? In that time, I expect him to be sold if he can't sort himself out, physically and by all accounts, it's not looking good for him. I'm with Ed, time to cut bait with him.

23.) 10 Jan 2016 21:34:11
For the wages he is on, we need to know he will play 2 out of every three games minimum. He is far to inconsistent and injury-prone and we would be better of selling him.

However like most of the supossedly 'big' players we have got, they aren't worth anywhere near what we paid for them (Benteke, Lallana, Sturrisdge, Markovic etc etc) . In Sturridge's case we would be lucky to get £10M for him.

24.) 10 Jan 2016 23:24:54
I agree with Roy.
How annoying if Sturridge gets himself fit to make the England Euro Championships team . in maybe April.
I feel so sorry for Klopp and what he's had to contend with.
How much longer is he supposed to wait for Sturridge?

25.) 11 Jan 2016 00:42:36
Think sturridge better off in less physical league like italian, Spanish league.

Middle east football also possibility.

06 Nov 2015 08:57:38
anything in these ter-stegan rumours? top goalkeeper, although i think Mingolet has been looking decent of late, distribution still lacks though.

Bosco

{Ed001's Note - seriously?}

1.) 06 Nov 2015 09:35:13
That ter stegen is a top keeper (very overrated and tries to be like Neuer when he is nothing like him) or that Mignolet is decent? Because let's face it Mignolet hasn't had much to deal with in the last games. Still looks shaky for no reason, last night he dropped a super simple ball almost on the feat of Kazan's striker. I wish he would get dropped for Bogdan already. At least Bogdan seems to know how to catch a ball and kick it very long.

2.) 06 Nov 2015 23:34:13
Not saying he will come at all, but must be annoying for Stegen to be sub for all league games.
Still think mignolet edges bogdan too though.

06 Oct 2015 09:19:13
Ed2 have Liverpool contacted Klopp yet? There is such a media frenzy about the bloke but last I heard you say we haven't contacted him and he left the country?

Thanks

Bosco

{Ed002's Note - Yes they have - and they have been speaking to his agent and other representative.}

Bosco

{Ed002's Note - Alonso will not be returning to Liverpool this summer.}

Dream summer for me:

Kalidou Koulibaly £40m : powerful centre back to take control ( where we need improving the most IMO) would cost a bit but worth it to sort out the defensive shambles at LFC

Saed Kolasinac free: perfect first choice left back for free. We desperately need an actual left back. Milner done ok but not his natural position

Mahmoud Dahoud £12m ish (contract running down) : perfect centre mid to change defence to attack in the blink of an eye. Good energy levels and experience at
a young age (I'd replace Emre Can with him) I'd sit him as the two deeper midfielder with hendo in a 4-2-3-1

Julian Brandt £25m: young winger who's played quite a few games already, hailed as one of the best German players coming through. Would be a good option on either wing and we are heavily linked with a move

Outs: Moreno. Can. Klavan. Lucas. Sturridge. And a few of the loan players coming back like Kent markovic bogdan etc.

Ings will be back and like a new signing hopefully, Gomez will be fitter, Ojo and Wilson be more ready Stewart can hopefully get a few more games. Karius hopefully shows a little development between now and the end of the season And hopefully some of the players learn from the mistakes this season it hasn't been all bad let's remember that.

YNWA.

Bosco

1.) 01 Mar 2017 09:53:45
Only problem mate we need a 20+ goal scorer. You look at the top 7

Chelsea has Costa
Spurs has Kane
Arsenal has Sanchez
United have zaltan
City have aguero
Everton have Lukaku

We been playing firmino there not saying he's bad but will he get you 20 goals a season.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has not been lacking goals, the main problem has been letting them in.}

2.) 01 Mar 2017 09:54:38
For me it would have to be:

Begovic/ Handanovic
Gaya/ chilwell/ bertrand/ ake/ fuchs
2 of martinez/ tah/ dann
Douglas costa
Aubameyang

Outs: Mignolet, lovren, klavan, moreno, can, lucas, sturridge

All of which will not ever happen in a million years🙃.

3.) 01 Mar 2017 10:00:02
Best buying fifa 18 ann!

Beware tho its only coming on the ps4 and xbox one. So if you haven't got one there should be some good deals on argos 😊.

4.) 01 Mar 2017 10:17:52
I don't care which names come or go. What I want to see is strategy.
Everyone knows our problems. They are not new, they are common to several managerial regimes now. Our opponents know our weaknesses, the media knows our weaknesses and fans know our weaknesses.
I want them addressed. It does not have to wait for the summer transfer window.
Our problems :
Goalkeepers - weak on crosses
Defenders : No leaders. No tactical/ positional awareness. Weak on crosses. Seemingly no strategy for addressing specific strengths of opponents. Set pieces - poor on marking, poor on second ball.
Midfield : Too soft, no steel. Unable to stop opponents. Often too slow in possession. Poor at retaining possession.
Attack : lack of movement against a well drilled defence. Lack of versatility.
In general: poor attitude against well organised weaker opponents.

All these things can be improved without signing more players and signing more players in a poorly organised, poorly motivated team will not solve the problems.

{Ed002's Note - It is the tactics that need to change - I get it that you don't like any of the players and want them all changed, that is common whoever is playing for the club, but you seem blind to the most obvious shortcoming - the same tactics being used by the manager who can only have his team play one way.}

5.) 01 Mar 2017 10:17:52
A Good summer would be :

GK - Handonovic of Inter. Probably available experienced and cheapest. Plus the return of Ward.

LB - not sure of exact players just as long as left footed.

CB - good in the air, quick minded, robust and sturdy.
Keane of Burnley.

DM - Romeou of Southampton?

Winger - Zaha/ Brandt/ or the winger at Dortmund.

CF - Aubaminyang (spelling)

6 in paid for by Sturridge, Sahko, Moreno, Markovich, Mignolet, Lucas, Flanagan, and fifty million.

6.) 01 Mar 2017 11:12:02
This is fantasy football stuff there is no way, without significant outgoings, we are going to be bringing in 6 top class players and, even with outgoings, I would doubt we have the financial means to complete 6 top class signings. I'll be happy with 2 top class improvements to the defence - so long as they improve it (which won't be hard to be fair) i'd be happy with that.

7.) 01 Mar 2017 12:21:39
If these are people's expectations they'll be very disapointed.

Id go for:

GK - let Karius and Ward battle it out and give them a genuine opportunity to claim the place

lb - sead kolsinac (free)

cb - promote joe gomez to actual first team and ease him in over a season whilst phasing lovren out

rb - ricardo pereria

lw - julian brandt

st - a really tough one and should only be addressed if sturridge goes. even then, I don't see a need to displace firmino and origi will be another year developed.

that would not be an outrageous spend by any stretch and will could move on the people klopp no longer requires.

this list won't be a popular one because it's lacking those "marquee" names that people seem to crave. put thoughts of aubamayang out of your head, there's virtually zero chance of this.

8.) 01 Mar 2017 13:00:24
Ed002 I feel that you have misunderstood my post.
At no point do I say I hate all the players and want them replaced. I even said our problems can be addressed without signing new players and that new players won't necessarily solve our problems.
Tactics and strategy feature heavily in my post. New players do not.

{Ed002's Note - Aside from moaning about the hoalkeepers, defenders, midfield and forwards? I guess you think the substitutes are all OK.}

9.) 01 Mar 2017 13:27:32
I reckon he's got a point ed. I think tactics don't address the main problem. The team doesn't have enough fighters. It's something Liverpool have neglected to consider for a long time. If Liverpool are sent out with the right tactics they could still be submissive and roll over when the opponent that is coming 15th gives it to them.

{Ed002's Note - So you replace the coach with one who is more tactically aware.}

10.) 01 Mar 2017 13:30:40
I'm not moaning about individuals, I'm pointing out where we need to develop. You don't solve set piece defending by buying new players, you organise the incumbents.

11.) 01 Mar 2017 13:41:19
Ed002 has a point here Ron. But I do agree with parts of what you're saying. I think the criticism has to be on Klopp at this point. Folding under pressure, not turning up for the small teams, all those arguments are nonsense. We thrive under pressure (facing big teams), we dominate possession and put in huge work rates pressing against smaller sides, but they just sit back and patiently wait to hit us on the break.

You should always stick to your guns. Pressing is clearly Klopp's philosophy, and it should be present in all games because of that. However, there are modifications that need to be made against each opponent. And I haven't seen a difference in the setup/ tactics against anyone we have played this season, except maybe on the road to the big teams (we sit back a little more) . Why not try interchanging some players or making substitutions sooner? What we are doing now clearly isn't working.

12.) 01 Mar 2017 14:29:28
I don't think there's any merit in apportioning blame but ultimately the manager is responsible for results.

I just want to see us moving forward. I think buying players can sometimes be counter productive. We need to see the team becoming more organised at set pieces or break downs in play.

13.) 01 Mar 2017 15:53:56
............abuse removed - one less brain dead moron on the site...........

14.) 01 Mar 2017 18:32:52
Inges will be lucky if he is match fit by Christmas. He has had 2 separate serious knee injuries.

He is a determined lad and apparently a great professional but the nature of the injuries it's quite possibly he will struggle at the top level.

I hope I'm wrong as he seems a perfect fit for Our style of play and I wish him all the luck in the world because he has handled a devastating situation with class.

15.) 01 Mar 2017 18:35:31
Will certainly remain as dream. Koulibaly wouldn't happen in million years. Napoli are nut case and they turned down a huge offer from champions Chelsea last summer. They are regularly playing CL.

Kolasinac is a good player who will have plenty of suitors for his signature. We will have to pay top wages and top signing on fee for him to consider ( Again I don't think
Klopp would fancy )

The other two could happen if we make an attempt. Without CL I don't see Brandt joining us nor Dahoud.

16.) 01 Mar 2017 19:04:09
Koulibaly, Kolasinac and Brandt I agree with. Not sure Dahoyd is what we need. Think we need a more combative midfielder. Someone who can go box to box but add some aggression to our play.

Hector Herrera, William Carvalho, Arturo Vidal, Wanyama etc. Dahoud is small, technical player. We have loads of players like that in the senior team, on loan and in the academy.

We don't have anyone who can take a game by the scruff and bully teams though. We lack a physical presence.

17.) 01 Mar 2017 18:51:17
You could fix a lot of issues by tweaking your set up and tactics certainly not everything as we lack severely in quality. But for a top 4 finish this team is more than enough. I can't see Klopp changing his set up other than running day and night from one end to other.

It's kinda baffles me as Chelsea who has the worse CB's in their history has kept more clean sheet than us. A make shift WB at right followed by a failed winger on the right.

18.) 01 Mar 2017 19:55:35
I agree with you in part, Harry. As much as the system and tactics need adapting, the poor attitude we have vs lesser teams is alarming. If not, how do you explain that 5 of our losses are vs bottom feeders in the PL? That is prolly a tactical problem in small part BUT an attitude problem more importantly, IMO. Even Klopp has seen this vs Hull and LC games, a complete lack of desire to fight.

However, we seem to NEVER have this problem vs the big boys cos NONE of them can beat us since Klopp came to us. So I maintain that it is an attitude problem more than a tactical problem and Klopp needs to fix this too as he is in charge of all forms of preparation including mental and psychological.

Gerrard to become MK Dons manager! What the hell! How does MK scouser feel?

Bosco

1.) 17 Nov 2016 18:52:39
I'm having a very hard time imagining Gerrard as a manager. He was never one for inspiring with words and the force of his personality, he always inspired through what he did on the pitch. That's obviously not an option from the sideline. I just think he'll be too quiet.

That being said, if his knowledge of the game good enough, and he gets a good assistant to do the shouting for him, maybe he can do it. I'd certainly like to see him succeed.

2.) 17 Nov 2016 19:15:45
you does everyone reckon his assistant will be if it happens? I reckon gary mac.

3.) 17 Nov 2016 19:41:42
People say it was Gerrard who fired up the boys from 3-0 down not Rafa I don't get the hate for a man who has giving some much to Liverpool . He could easily left us in the dark days.

4.) 17 Nov 2016 19:57:02
Something Red, where did you get the information he didn't do a lot off the pitch from?
Similar to John Terry at Chelsea, I have heard that if anything Gerrard had too much influence off the pitch and could apply pressure for players to be moved on.
He has also already coached some of the youths at the club.
I doubt he yet has the qualifications required to manage, but if he is genuinely in line then good on him not just using his contacts for a role at Liverpool. Will do him the world of good to experience the lower leagues, can see many Liverpool lads getting experience in the lower leagues on loan if it does happen.

5.) 17 Nov 2016 20:32:03
Stevie g good luck to u mate if half the passion u showed on the pitch in a liverpool shirt comes out in your coaching I have no doubt you'll be successful.

6.) 17 Nov 2016 20:52:52
Would have preferred him to choose a different club to be honest. MK Dons are not very well liked.
Good luck to him whatever job he gets.

7.) 17 Nov 2016 21:08:56
No hate, only admiration and gratitude. That doesn't mean I have to abandon a rational assessment of how he would benefit Liverpool by returning now. The head says it would be bad for both parties. If he is to have success in management he has to find is extremely elsewhere 'cos he's starting at zero as a manager.

8.) 17 Nov 2016 21:47:40
Thank goodness!
Now we can all move on.

9.) 17 Nov 2016 21:56:20
Not really an MK Dons fan but I don't think It's a good move for either party.

10.) 17 Nov 2016 22:14:23
Good luck to to you Stevie.
Your a legend to all true reds.
F#@k the begrudgers.
Don't be afraid to fail as that is how you learn
You are one that will never walk alone.

11.) 17 Nov 2016 22:37:26
I do not dislike gerrard at all really, i dislike the ridiculous esteem and rose tinted glasses people have for him. He was never the same when he reached 30 and should have been let go, but was instead kept around, whether that was his bidding or the fans or just how crap we were at the time, i don't know.

12.) 17 Nov 2016 23:47:00
If he's half as good at management as he was a player hel be one of the best around .

13.) 17 Nov 2016 23:22:33
I wish he would try even become an assistant manager somewhere first before taking a job like that. experience is crucial in management. Ed001 do you know who gareth southgate might have as his number 2 if he becomes england manager which looks likely? Would be ideal for gerrard in my opinion.

{Ed001's Note - I believe that the FA would like him to have an experienced head to guide him. Not sure how it would be ideal for a novice like Gerrard either.}

14.) 18 Nov 2016 01:17:47
If there was an all time top prem team picked by prem. league experts, , managers and ex players stephen Gerrard would be one of the first names on the sheet.
And in my opinion he would be captain as well.

15.) 18 Nov 2016 13:46:20
I don't think anybody begrudges him or dislikes him on these pages. We're unanimous in praise for his long service to the club as a player. I'm just completely against his getting a free pass or open door to any management position at LFC, without his proving he's good enough for the job. Just as he did as a player. Simple.

16.) 18 Nov 2016 23:31:07
To be fair, does Arsene Wenger seem inspiring with words or force of personality?

17.) 19 Nov 2016 00:35:30
Like kenny did
Like Souness did
I think Roy Evans was a player who went coaching and worked his way up through the Liverpool ranks.

Its been done at Barcelona with Pep going straight to coaching the B team.

We have to stop thinking that Stevie is looking for any favours or free route into coaching and look at how the club could benefit if things worked well.
As it did with Kenny years ago.

If it didn't work out then make different arrangements.

04 Nov 2016 21:49:34
I imagine Liverpool are going to be looking at forwards again in Jan or wide forwards as we had well documented interest in pulisic in the summer but never happened, also be losing mane for a bit with the AFCON. Will we just pull firmino wide and go with origi or studge in the centre? Or will we look to add more 🤔 Any names Eds?

Bosco

{Ed002's Note - Suprising as it may seem, even Liverpool are not stupid enought to buy to replace a player going away for a competition.}

1.) 04 Nov 2016 22:00:04
Why on earth would we want to buy another forward? a forward is the absolute last thing we need.

2.) 04 Nov 2016 23:04:05
He did not say specifically about striker but lack of winger was clearly mentioned. He doesn't want to shift Firmino into the wide position. Unless Ojo makes an instant impression I expect Klopp to look out for a winger in Jan. This could also be a long term replacemt for Coutinho.
Surprising but liverpool will be looking closely at the January window.

3.) 05 Nov 2016 00:08:19
Why pull firminio wide when Origi and Studge have played wide for us previously!

4.) 05 Nov 2016 00:22:56
WE have Origi, Sturridge, Wijnaldum can play wide too, Ojo if he gets his fitness back in time. Not to mention the likes of Brannagan, Wilson and Trent as options to fill in from the bench where needed.

5.) 05 Nov 2016 04:42:45
The crowning jewel in Klopp’s Dortmund side is the kick ass 30 goal a season striker Lewandowski. Spreading goals among midfielders and getting a 30 goal season merchant are not mutually exclusive u know.

6.) 05 Nov 2016 07:15:32
I think we are well stocked in our front three. Plus why would we look to get a replacement for Coutinho in January? January is the more expensive of the two windows to go after a top class talent. Furthermore let's say we do buy a "replacement" for coutinho in January, then what? The replacement is happy to sit on the bench to wait until Cout leaves?

Highly unlikely if you ask me. If anything I predict very minimal movements (maybe sakho out) in January

Red Sandman.

7.) 05 Nov 2016 08:40:15
Exactly Sandman - Should Sakho out be the only movement for us in January i'd be happy with that.

8.) 05 Nov 2016 08:38:07
So, ED002, it was false information about Liverpool bidding for C. Pulisic on the deadline day? So, it can be a possibility of "Stupid" Liverpool to pursue their target irrespective of AFCON.

{Ed002's Note - You seem to lack any grasp about what happened in the summer at all. There was no deadline day bid and as I explained Liverpool by the end of the window were not in any position to do any business in Germany at all. You also need someone to read the post to you and understand what was being said.}

28 Oct 2016 08:10:54
Few rumours flying around regarding clyne, possibly city or Barcelona bidding for him in Jan? Why would he be able to leave ed? I think he is a great full back. Or is it just BS in the papers 🤔.

Bosco

{Ed001's Note - great? He had issues in the summer, we were looking to replace him anyway as he is far from great. Right now he is willing to stay but we are still trying to decide whether TAA is good enough to push him/replace him. The stories about City and Barca are simply them being linked with every possible right back as both need one and are searching for one. Barca have even, idiotically, been linked with Glenn Johnson in the papers.}

1.) 28 Oct 2016 09:13:54
I'm already fedup of rumours and its still 2 months from the transfer window, god help you eds.

2.) 28 Oct 2016 09:45:40
Clyne cannot cross the ball and one of the reason we never use the width. Its the same case on the other side well. Clyne is just about ok. Runs around a lot actually not doing anything great If you watch Bellarin you would understand how far Clyne needs an upgrade.
Our average full backs are the reason we play so narrow and through the middle.
I would happily sell hm to City for a large chunk which they will blew it anyway on a RB.

The reality is PL has no good full backs except Bellarin.

3.) 28 Oct 2016 10:12:19
He's been playing well and I don't really have any complaints, but great he is not. I agree if city does come in for him with a big amount its hard to say no, then we can shove TAA into the first team who I believe has so much potential, that lad has really impressed me from what I've seen, if Clyne is to be flogged we need to gradually put TAA in the next couple of months. I'll support Clyne whilst he's here because I honestly think he's been decent, but for the future of Liverpool we do need better. We'll be in the CL next year, he just doesn't cut it for that.

4.) 28 Oct 2016 10:29:02
Lets just hope City and Barcelona get into a bidding war for Clyne. He has been deecnt so far but anything more than 20-25 million and we will be in luck. No need for a replacement either as we have Flanno coming back and Arnold waiting in the wings. Just spend the money on a LB and make Milner an option for RB as well.

5.) 28 Oct 2016 10:34:38
Exactly, TAA has potential. Nowhere near the finished article. We should keep Clyne 100% until the end of the season at least. At the moment he is the best we have.

6.) 28 Oct 2016 11:01:10
Liverpool FC

". I'll support Clyne whilst he's here. " Not sure what people actually mean by this. I have seen this eerywhere. You only support one club whole your life which means you support the players as well. You could always have an opinion on things you see and observe.

Does it mean you would start hating once this player moves elsewhere? What kind of logic is that?

7.) 28 Oct 2016 10:13:39
any idea who we're looking at, Ed001?

{Ed001's Note - right now we are assessing TAA as I said.}

8.) 28 Oct 2016 10:42:22
Jesus ed didn't see this coming mate. biy shocked tbh. do you think Jan is likely or more like in the summer?

{Ed001's Note - what?}

9.) 28 Oct 2016 13:11:45
Ah right, thanks ed, thought we might've been looking at other names as well in case TAA is deemed not ready.

{Ed001's Note - I expect TAA to be deemed ready to be honest.}

10.) 28 Oct 2016 14:27:32
Not at all sweet chin you automatically assumed nonsense as per usual, are you ever happy? Your just full of it. And to answer your question. I wish him the best where ever he ends up. Suddenly I won't start 'hating' lol you should give up lad every post you make you destroy yourself.

11.) 28 Oct 2016 14:35:02
Harry, Clyne has put some great crosses so far this year, and I personally don't think it's a position we need to strengthen. As for your comparison to Bellerin, if you did watch him play, you'd realise he's a better version of Moreno, with the same defensive faults, and naivety, though good going forward admittedly.

12.) 28 Oct 2016 16:07:11
Ed, do you know what the process is to deem a player ready? If there is one at all?

{Ed001's Note - it will vary. Sometimes there is no process as injuries mean a youngster gets thrown in at the deep end. In a case like this one, it will be taking a look at how he handles himself over the next few weeks, with the media attention surrounding him and being dropped back down to the U23s. They want to see he has the maturity to cope with the ups and downs.}

13.) 28 Oct 2016 21:06:40
Bellerin is no better than Clyne at all, he is just very fast, i like that you atleast used another player in comparisson, instead of just saying Clyne is bad like most other people. I would love to hear who people would replace him with, that is so much better?

14.) 28 Oct 2016 21:41:40
Keep him till the summer, then if he wants to go let Gomez and TAA fight it out for the spot.

15.) 28 Oct 2016 22:08:19
Still baffles me how people rate Clyne. Last season he was at fault for as many if not more goals than the likes of Moreno, Skrtel and Mignolet.

He gives away far too many silly free kicks, his technical abilities are Championship level at best, his ability to track/ mark anyone are non existent etc. He is literally just an athlete. The Shane Long of the right back world. Quick, strong, energetic and never injured. His actual ability as a footballer is below par at best.

This season he has been slightly better and his crossing has developed. He is still a glaringly obvious weak link though hence why we are even discussing an 18 year old right midfielder replacing him! Although TAA is an exceptional talent who can comfortably play in about 5 positions.

I'll drive Clyne to Barcelona if they offer £30m. Just give me a 1% cut of the transfer! Should never have been signed in the first place to be honest. Love his attitude, but I'm not going to pretend he is a good player just because he plays for us.

16.) 28 Oct 2016 23:31:56
Stoupid, if you think Clyne is better than Bellerin, then I fear for you.

17.) 29 Oct 2016 08:02:31
Has everyone forgot about flano? His injuries have set him back a lot and he isn't getting the game time on loan. He was great before he got hurt.

Has he fallen from consideration ed01? Or was the loan to get him back to that lvl? He maybe doesn't have the pace klopp would like for the role. He sure has the defending side.

I'm not sure. It's a shame whatever way it turns out, sadly it doesn't look like he's caught klopp's attention so far.

{Ed001's Note - he is surplus to requirements mate. Klopp would have sold him in the summer, if he could have found a buyer.}

If coutinho does leave we should focus on bringing in Marco Reus. or maybe Draxler. I would much rather keep hold of the little magician though 😞.

Ter Stegan, gundogan and Gotze would be dream players. If we qualify for champions league we can hope 🙏🏻 I would imagine gundogan is going city though unfortunately.

Be a good signing I think, sell Moreno and sign willems as replacement. Smith as backup/ rotation get him some experience because he will be top class.

{Ed002's Note - And Gomez?}

People keep on saying there's nothing to indicate Gerrard will be a good coach but is there anything to indicate he would be a bad one? I know if I was a youngster coming through i would play out of my skin every game for him. Give the guy a chance if that's what he wants to do, he is a legend.

Bosco

{Ed001's Note - exactly what most people are saying, get him in with the kids where he will, at the very least, inspire them. Then we can find out how good, bad or indifferent he is as a coach.}

Gary Neville is an interesting one, I hated him as a player but now working on punditry he is actually quite likeable. People should understand that he loves united as much as we love Liverpool so if I played for Liverpool I'd act like him towards united. But yeh anyway pretty much agree with any of the players listed above all rats 😂.
