Twitter alert, Liverpool agree to sign Shaqiri for 12.6 million. Got to say I won't believe it as non of the Eds have mentioned it to be true.

Baz.

1.) 15 Jun 2018 18:21:11
I don’t believe it as it originated on Twitter.

2.) 15 Jun 2018 20:25:04
Ed is there still no interest from us in shaqiri?

3.) 17 Jun 2018 15:12:09
Out of interest, how often have the eds said that a deal is confirmed? I think even the eds have said themselves they don't have up to the minute info.

If Fekir deal is done because of a knee injury issue then I think we need to look at our medical team. Fekir has played two seasons now since the injury and continues to play, surely scouting the player would have known this and not made us look amateur and foolish yet again. Look at Loic Remy, we had agreed a deal with him and the medical team said he had a heart issue. Weird never stopped Chelsea signing him and not recall him stop playing football because of it. Sometimes I wonder if it's case of.

Baz2

1.) 10 Jun 2018 01:10:43
IMO. Either Lfc pulled a fast one or lyon want a star performance at WC. i hope Lyon stepped in otherwise it discredits lfc. Lyon have always stated after WC and the July accounts statement is just a rouse. problem is if he's a star will lfc pay extra £ Man u/ city/ bayern/ chelsea will. I think we've lost him as we didn't get brandt or keita (for 2017.)

2.) 10 Jun 2018 01:46:36
Who suggested it has anything to do with his medical? The same people who said a deal had been agreed?

It's a bit painful reading pre-emptive digs at our medical team without: (A) knowing whether he did or did not fail the medical and (B) whether he does go on to develop long term knee issues. In fact, quite the contrary, that ED002 is suggesting that the door for a deal being struck is still open, which does suggest that the medical is not the sticking point.

And bringing up Loic Remy is a bit tragic because the way heart diseases are, doctors can only calculate the statistical probability of getting a sickness. Nobody can guarantee that a person will definitely go on to have the illness. And who knows what precautions Remy is taking now since that medical, and if it's impacting his on pitch performance.

Sorry for the rant. But people shouldn't give abuse to medical professionals who know what they are doing- it didn't look pretty when Mourinho tried it at Chelsea.

3.) 10 Jun 2018 02:33:14
Well said fella. People just can't let this take it's course. If we really really want him we will pay whatever if we maybe are holding some money back to try and get Allison then we won't. Who know apart from Ed002.

4.) 10 Jun 2018 05:44:54
It’s the same medical team that couldn’t diagnose a concussion!

{Ed001's Note - how is that relevant? You do talk some crap. Ignorant crap at that. Time you stopped trolling.}

5.) 10 Jun 2018 06:06:45
Bluenose here just wanted to explain it's nowt to do with your medical team Baz they won't know about any issues until they get the hands on the guy we had the same issue when we tried to sign Leroy Fer from FC Twente we found a problem with his knee and went back looking to make changes to payment to cover ourselves they then pulled the plug the fact he went on and played full seasons for Norwich and Swansea mean nowt to me as I wouldn't want my club to take any kind of risk.

6.) 10 Jun 2018 06:13:58
I remember the Van Nistelrooy transfer to Manchester United, United pulled the plug due to fitness concerns, the very next day Van Nistelrooy blew his knee out. Just because a player is playing games doesn’t mean he is physically 100%, Fekir is a £50 million investment, the club has to protect itself.

7.) 10 Jun 2018 07:31:15
Baz2 we’ve looked amateur and foolish not because of the medical department but because of the fans. I say this because if people just let the transfer go through the motions insead of all this hype and bull saying saying it’s a done deal and bragging all over social media about a player that hadn’t officially signed. The medical team have done what they’re supposed to do, the scouts will have come and said player x would fit perfectly into our system Klopp and the other people involved would say ok then it’s down to Edwards and others to negotiate then the medical team do what their supposed to do. Unfortunately if media are to believed it has highlighted a problem with his knee. Would you go out and buy an expensive car after someone had highlighted a potentially expensive problem down the line?

8.) 10 Jun 2018 08:18:31
Curiosity killed the cat. This is no different than the process in most transfers, the issue is that we, the fans seek out every info we can gather, and our nosyness is what thrives the dissapointment. I don't blame any of the people involved, but I feel sorry for Fekir, because not only is his prefered move on fragtile ground, but he's been exposed to the medias as damaged goods aswell. I would still love to have him join us, and I hope something can be worked out for all parties.

9.) 10 Jun 2018 09:05:58
Guys i don't think you should all suddenly become doctors. If he had have failed his medical i doubt he would have done the promo stuff after.

That being said if it was anything to do with a medical its pretty daft to be attacking the medical team. Some of the posts are coming off as really weird.

To want sturridge and lallana gone because they are injury prone but then want to sign a player who may potentially be injury prone doesn't add up.

I personally think it had very little to do with the medical because like i said at start i don't think it would have progressed to the promo stuff.

Ive been saying to my mates that this one wouldn't be a straight foward one. Liverpool and lyon must have been apart in either the total price or the structure of payments.

Lyon have merely decided to use the publicity to hard ball negotiations. They are well within their rights to demand whatever they deem fit for their employee and captain.

I still think it will be done bit most likely won't be till after the world cup now.

10.) 10 Jun 2018 10:10:20
Agree with wolverine. It has nothing to do with the medical it’s been passed no issues, the stumbling block as said above must be fee, structure of payments or something of that ilk.

I personally y think it will still happen, in terms of playerwagessigning on fee, medical etc that is all done from what I can see so it is quite possible the deal could stil be finalised whilst the player is at the World Cup.

11.) 10 Jun 2018 10:28:33
To give my two penneth I can imagine it'll still probably get done just need to be patient if not I'm sure we'll have other targets.

12.) 10 Jun 2018 10:37:45
What risk he's had two full seasons. lfc trying to be cheap. so why didn't we/ don't we get rid of lallana. hendo. ings. ox. sturidge they're all crocks.

13.) 10 Jun 2018 11:22:10
Riomazy- you can either learn from mistakes or use them as an excuse to repeat them.

14.) 10 Jun 2018 11:32:30
More to this than an old knee injury. More to do with Lyon than Liverpool I reckon and it's maybe not totally dead but let's all wait until it's announced on the LFC official website, there's a long summer ahead.

15.) 10 Jun 2018 14:19:08
Hilarious. Now it's the scouting team's fault because they didn't know the medical risks (which only a medical team can know after examination) or it's the medical team's fault because they didn't give a go ahead to a player that they may or may have not have assessed as risky? We really have some specimens on here sometimes. It's like watching a blindfolded man in a dark room, being given a bat to swing at the ball.

16.) 10 Jun 2018 20:37:48
Riomazy - maybe you should actually take a look at the "2 full seasons" that he’s had?

2016/ 17 season he was out for just over 3 weeks (August 28th - September 20th) and I think had slight surgery again on the same knee.

Last season (in fact, as recent as this year) he was also out for over a month (February 26th - April 2nd) because of the same knee. Not sure if he got surgery this time like.

So no he hasn’t had "2 full seasons" because the injury is recurring and it will likely happen again at some point this season and the next and so on.

17.) 11 Jun 2018 15:52:54
just hope that our next signing doesn't have a dodgy knee, back, ankle,
if its risky, move on,
so simple .

I have had a day to reflect on our defeat yesterday.

In hindsight I think we needed that result yesterday. Bear with me here. We have turned many a top team over showing pace, quality and a rear team performance both at home and away grounds. Yesterday we have had a dishing out of our own medicine. The result highlighted the inabilities of our transfer dealings not getting our defensive side sorted.

Personally I think we need to give Ward his chance now between the sticks. We need to either then decide to sell Migs or Karius. TAA needs to be given as much time at right back as possible. This the case for Gomez at centre back as these two players are young and can be the heart of our defence for years. We mucked both VVD and Southampton about and that deal could have been over the line at the beginning of the transfer window. Left back in Robertson seems a good deal and he will be good choice when fit.

Midfield. We need to give Can that contract and ensure he is given game time. Him Hendo and Keita could have a good partnership for a few years now. We have great back up with Gini as well as the Ox. We have a great forward line with Salah, Mane, firmino, lallana, Coutinho as well as the Ox double hatting.

Forwards, we have Sturridge who when fit is deadly. Solanke I think needs game time, if your good enough your old enough. Ings like Origi needs a loan to get fitness and games under his belt.

I hate to see other clubs around us that choose a transfer target and get the deal sorted. We low ball with prices and make us a laughing stock and clubs then won't deal with us. However we need to support the lads, yes horrible horrible result yesterday but we as fans have to accept the lows as well as the highs.

Just my opinion.

Baz.

1.) 10 Sep 2017 17:05:48
Baz I agree to a point but I don't think anyone in this window chose their target and just got the deal done. Utd missed out on Morata and Perisic, City Sanchez, Chelsea lost out on about 4 players I think. We didn't get VVD but we targeted Salah, Keita, Robertson and AOC and got the deals done. I don't think we had a particularly bad window to be honest.

2.) 10 Sep 2017 17:43:42
We didn't address the squads weakness in the window, we still have a poor defence and average goal keepers (give Ward a chance Klopp) Ultimately it was poor window.

3.) 10 Sep 2017 18:20:44
Ings

They all got their imprtant members in the window except us. We need a top class CB, infact 2.

4.) 10 Sep 2017 19:13:40
No they did not, Harry. Your idol Mou wanted Perisic all day long and did not get him. Conte has been chasing Bonucci for 2 seasons now and still did not get him. Pep wanted Sanchez all day long as well and is still mad he did not get him. I know you think other clubs and players are always better than ours and all you do is bash fawn over them as a blatant attempt to bash us, our players and our manager as Klopp can do nothing right in your eyes. Give it a rest, mate as the record is getting scratched. LFC will continue to be crap cos they did not do what you wanted. Got it. Can you now change the record, pls?

5.) 10 Sep 2017 19:35:03
Salah was not our first choice, Ings n things. Robertson underwhelmed most on here before he kicked a ball and I don't believe he'd be here either had we not royally pissed off Fulham. Keita isn't coming until next year and I'm not sure the Ox topped anyone's list of targets, especially at that price! Don't get me wrong, when they wear the red shirt I'm 100% behind them, but suggesting VVD was the only target we failed to land is a little off the mark mate.

6.) 10 Sep 2017 21:34:01
You're not wrong there, GMAC.

7.) 11 Sep 2017 11:35:32
Hot the nail on the head WCD.
We strengthened our strengths but did not address the weaknesses mate.

I'd rather bring bruicey out of retirement than Ross Turnbull. One good season at Middlesbrough then off to Chelsea and never seen again.

Barry, I agree 50%. We have making of a good defence with TAA, VVD and Robbo. Lovren is great on his day but partial to a mindfart. Matip isn't good enough, like wise clyne and Moreno.

I had heard this rumour a few months ago saying Real were offering us around 75million for him making us a 15/ 20million profit on a player who didn't even kick a ball for us. Technically they could buy him from us but not till 1st of July.

All the thumbs down will be people who use a hand held mobile device whilst driving.

Maybe you would change your mind at fatal traffic incidents, picking people's body parts up or telling the mother and fathers their young child has life changing injuries or killed because someone was too busy texting or updating their social media.

Fatal four issues at road traffic incidents, Speed, seatbelts, distractions and mobile devices!
