Haven't really got an opinion as to how successful mahrez would be but I've noticed a theme at many games I've been to this season.

Klopp has gone into a 4-4-2 with mane going left salah going central with another striker and normally AOC playing from the right.

As has been mentioned coutinho was played wide before salah came in and in my opinion we have looked better at times this year when he was back out there and we didn't have all 4 of the "big 4" on the pitch.

Anyway if mahrez came in I'd see him taking up that wide right role in the 4-4-2 system as well as covering salah on the right of a 3 or dropping deeper to the midfield coutinho role once klopp gets his work rate and tactically knowledge of our system up to speed.

Sorry Superred but we will have to agree to disagree. In your words "lallana is a massive cog missing" and if we sell coutinho who I'd say is our best player, you are not happy with our team?
Please tell me which team in world football would not be weaker without their "midfield cog" and "best player"?
Ridiculous. do you think we have unlimited squad places?

That is a lot of "ifs and buts" Superred. How's this for another one.
IF we sign AOC, IF we don't sell Couts, IF Hendo stays fit, and IF Lallana comes back early as Klopp has eluded to with his recoveries from previous injuries, then do you expect Can to sign a new contract with all of that in his way AND the fact it's pretty obvious we will go again for if we are indeed defeated this summer?
You see you can't keep adding and adding for ifs and buts.
The Ed's were saying similar when the site was going crazy in January due to ACON when people were expecting a £35mil plus signing because mane was missing for 3 weeks.

I see how people may assume AOC would be logical to replace Lallana, ( as he can play wide or central)
However I am not sure how we are short of numbers?
Can, Hendo, Gini, Grujic, Milner and Coutinho. Not to mention the youngsters. chirivella, Ejaria, Woodburn has been played deeper, Ojo has experience in midfield as well as TAA. I'm not sure we're short.

Again I'm getting in to the realms of accusing now but it seems he is saying a very specific word was said by firmino when he is discussing that with the referee. As has been said holgate REACTS to something. At the moment it's alleged that firmino says this word holgate is stood perfectly still and is looking right at him. Like I say racism is up there as one of the most disgusting ways a person can choose to act so in my opinion you don't make accusations for someone to be accused of that if there's the slightest chance you're mistaken ed001.

I have my thoughts on what happened after watching this over and over again but I don't intend to pass judgement on my theories.
What I will say is that having a Jamaican father and an Irish mother has made incidents like this a rather raw subject and if firmino has said anything racist I expect the club get rid asap despite being a favourite of mine.

However, being someone who played football to a pretty decent level and having had racism thrown at myself personally in this country from the age of 11 I'd say I would be appalled if there is no substance to holgates claim.

The proximity to the other players but more importantly the referee should make this a clear cut case not just from the refs witness statement but also if you watch the position of firmino he is literally speaking into the refs microphone.

Again, I am trying to be neutral but racism has affected myself and so many of my family members (not only black but Irish too) that for someone to lie about it is just as harmful as someone perpetrating it. So I'd hope holgate got just as much of a ban for being found lying as firmino would get for being found guilty. Only I'd hope firmino was nowhere near the football club I love.

{Ed001's Note - what if Holgate was just mistaken? It was in the heat of the moment, the lad could easily have misheard.}
