Hi Ed’s

Do you you expect us to move for a striker as well as a replacement for Pipco if we move Sturridge and/ Ings?
I’m more than happy with Sokanke as he looks like he will grow to be a great player, and I think once he hits the net a couple of times he could get on a run, could be wishful thinking but perhaps our Harry Kane 😀

Thanks

Andy O.

Andy O

{Ed001's Note - if both go, yes.}

1.) 03 Jan 2018 10:31:49
If Sturridge goes than how about Walcott, he is experienced, scores and has pace but has a fair few injuries.

{Ed001's Note - is this a serious suggestion?}

2.) 03 Jan 2018 11:15:05
Please stop saying pipco.

3.) 03 Jan 2018 11:17:26
If Walcott's not available then why don't we go for Shane Long?
He scored last night.

4.) 03 Jan 2018 11:57:25
If Sturridge and Ings go, maybe we should give Rhian Brewster a shot at being 3rd choice striker? Maybe that could convince him his future is here and not at Juventus or Dortmund? If we sign a senior player to be 3rd pick instead of using the academy, then i think we will just justify Brewster's decision to leave. How often does a third choice striker play? Sturridge and Ings must have less than 700 minutes combined this season! Is Brewster not ready for a few sub appearances each month?

5.) 03 Jan 2018 12:02:20
About three years ago then maybe I’d agree BigD but he’s flattered to deceive ever since.

6.) 03 Jan 2018 12:08:40
Pipco.

7.) 03 Jan 2018 12:20:22
Are we being serious in suggesting Walcott?

8.) 03 Jan 2018 12:49:33
Solanke's not ready to be second choice, if Studge goes I'd want someone else to come in.

9.) 03 Jan 2018 12:12:40
If both go, are we still interested in Timo Werner, Ed?

{Ed001's Note - the interest is still there but I doubt he will be sold before the summer.}

Hi Ed's - thanks for keeping us all up to date with everything LFC, I can appreciate that it must take a lot of time and patience.

A quick question, do you think that Markovic will be given a chance in pre-season to prove himself, I think there's a player in there myself, but I'm no expert 😊.

Andy O

{Ed002's Note - Markovic is one of the players who has no other commitments this summer so he will have the opportunity. But it will be down to the manager who will have to either make a commitment to play him regularly or let him go. Right now I suspect moving on is the most likely outcome.}

1.) 22 May 2016 13:35:54
Shame, I've always liked the lad and hoped he would've made it with us. Guess it's probably best for his career and also the club if he moved on now though.

2.) 23 May 2016 09:37:36
I was operating under the assumption that Markovic would be given a season to prove himself as our RW with a new LW brought in and two youngsters as back-up wingers, Ojo and Ibe for example.

Ed02, If Markovic is moved on this summer as you suspect, do you think he will be replaced by another RW?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Markovic will want guarantees - Liverpool has wasted enough of his career already and I think it is likely he will move on.}

Hi Eds, just wondering in your opinion do you think we may have a look at Menez as his contract appears to be running close to 6 months.

Andy O

Andy O

{Ed002's Note - No. If he leaves it will be to Italy I would think.}

Hi Ed’s,

I’m just curious (and this isn’t a ‘I wish a wealthy oligarch would buy us post)

With the current C.V. hitting us hard and the value of the squad in £’s going down, what do you think FSG’s plans be for us, do you think they’ll keep us a few years and sell or keep us longer term?

My thoughts are as the squad ages and if we don’t continue to win trophy’s perhaps now is our ceiling price, but I’m no expert.

If you’d rather not comment I understand as some people get a little emotional.

Andy O

{Ed002's Note - They will sell when any potential future growth flattens out and better investmtnt opportunities exist elsewhere.}

1.) 01 Sep 2021 14:29:46
Pretty much what ED02 has often said on here.

2.) 01 Sep 2021 14:37:54
Ed - I understand if it’s impossible to know at the moment, but what type of potential owner would be in the frame to buy Liverpool?

{Ed002's Note - There isn't one.}

3.) 01 Sep 2021 15:45:10
FSG ain’t selling anytime soon.

14 Mar 2021 10:43:17
Hi Ed’s

Just out of interest is there a CB and striker out there to keep an eye on for the future, apart from the ones everyone is talking about in the press?

Especially ones suited to our current set up.

Sorry if it’s a random question and your short of time.

Andy O

{Ed002's Note - Obviously there are plenty of young CBs and strikers who have a good future ahead of them but Liverpool are not chasing after the likes of Jorge Mere, Leonidas Stergiou, Facundo Colidio or Eddy Salcedo. Liverpool will look to add a CB and a F in the summer but space will need to be made in the squad - and they could look to turning Kabak's loan in to a permanent deal.}

1.) 14 Mar 2021 11:01:41
So it's Kabak and and another CB we are looking to sign? Spells the end for Matip, Davies and probably Phillips then.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have only just signed Davies. Klopp still does not have his the starter he wants. But it will be all about money.}

2.) 14 Mar 2021 12:28:51
Well if that's the case, one of Mane/ Salah is definitely off this summer. Edwards is clearly unable to sell our fringe and loaned out players by placing unrealistic valuations on them, hence no one will buy them. It seems the new forward Klopp wants will be a replacement rather than an addition to what we have.
To get Kabak, another first choice CB and a forward, we are talking about approx 100 million pound investment. Where is the funding coming from?
Just sell Wilson, Grujic, Shaq, Origi for 10 million pounds each and move on for everyone's sake. Minamino, Awoniyi, Ojo, Matip, Ox, Keita. Just move these players at the earliest.

3.) 14 Mar 2021 12:38:58
The sale of Philipps might bring in another £10m as well IB 😉.

4.) 14 Mar 2021 13:58:49
Juicer, yeah I forgot about Phillips.
But I do not trust Edwards to sell those above listed players this summer to raise enough cash to fund the new signings we actually need. Its Salah/ Mane that will raise the money for new players while Grujic, Wilson, Awoniyi and Ojo will go out on loan yet again coz no one wants to pay the asking price for the lot.

5.) 14 Mar 2021 14:24:22
Buzzer, I take your point but Grujic is in danger of completing his entire career on loan.

6.) 14 Mar 2021 14:24:14
People ought to read Klopp's comments on Kabak. He's backed him to the hilt today and saud he could easily play alongside Van Dijk.

Everyone has conveniently forgotten that we were interested in Kabak for about a year prior to him joining even when his price tag was €40m.

I personally think the only reason there is an "option" to buy rather than an "obligation" is because of the uncertainty of the C.V. and thus the clubs finances. I just hope people accept him in the likely scenario he signs permanently in the summer.

7.) 14 Mar 2021 14:32:32
Would Stergiou be the Switzerland kiddie? Seems to be drawing a lot attention. Away from the business of the day, how are the Ed’s and users doing, trying to stay away from the site is definitely easier said than done.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, there is serious interest in him now.}

8.) 14 Mar 2021 15:11:23
There’s a potential cut-price solution to the CB conundrum - develop Davies and Kabak and sell Philipps, that would be the ideal.
I’m not sure where a Konate or other first choice CB signing comes into this though, whether he would be optional (dependant on one of the aforementioned two not making it) or as an addition?

{Ed002's Note - Kabak is still only on loan. I agree it would save money but still does not give Klopp what he wants.}

9.) 14 Mar 2021 15:43:17
Ed2 apologies if this has been answered recently. I know Diego Carlos was the starter Klopp wanted in the summer. Now, finance permitting of course but has that changed or is it still very much him?

{Ed002's Note - No I would scratch him from the list.}

10.) 14 Mar 2021 20:52:20
Spot on, MK regarding Kabak. He was heavily linked to us last summer BUT suddenly, some on here act like he came out of nowhere. Some suggest he is some LFC board signing or one that Klopp did not want, something we all know Klopp would never tolerate. If he is here then, it means we have scouted him enuff to give him a chance to prove himself.

Does that mean he will b kept? We will have to see but clearly Klopp rates him and he along with Phillips are pretty much auditioning to be kept in the squad next season cos we don’t know how VVD and esp Gomez will come back from their horrific injuries.

11.) 15 Mar 2021 00:32:11
I do feel that Kabak is getting a very tough reception by our fans. It's hard to recognise that he is only 10 months older than Rhys Williams.

It's hard to come from a losing team into a losing team which is expected to win every game, while playing alongside a different partner each week, none of who are experienced CBs, and no supporters in the stadium, and a new country and language.

VVD helped Gomez become an excellent CB partner. He might easily do the same for Kabak.

{Ed0666's Note - although I have no time for kabak as a human being after his reprehensible actions if spitting at someone during a pandemic I too have some sympathy for him as a professional. As you say he is on a tough learning curve and we’ll see what he’s made out of. He has to become a man from a boy in ten games or so and that’s tough in any 20 year old in a new country in a new culture/language with a new set of teammates.

Apparently a true tweet 😂

Even fast food chain KFC were impressed by Edwards' negotiating skills, their UK and Ireland account tweeting on Monday evening: "Michael Edwards could walk into a KFC for a Snackbox but end up walking out with the secret recipe, two of our fryers and the shirt off my back.

“.

Andy O

1.) 01 Feb 2021 21:13:50
No, it’s true.

2.) 01 Feb 2021 21:25:33

3.) 01 Feb 2021 22:00:48
They should also have added that he had his way with the manager's wife before leaving.

Hi Ed’s,

Thanks for the updates and the honest feedback you provide.

Just a quick question, I think Curtis Jones looks a very promising player and was trying to think what previous players in Liverpool’s history he is similar too.

Based on your knowledge is there a player he reminds you of at this age?

Thx

Andy o.

Andy O

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, I can't think of any. Not off the top of my head. I have never really given it any thought. I try and avoid comparisons as it does not help young players to be compared to previous ones.}

1.) 24 Aug 2020 12:56:24
I love his arrogance ED001 but in the right way, he is not fazed at all by playing in the first team, as long as he is prepared to continue to work hard and take advice from the senior players around him, and of course klopp and the coaches i see no reason at all why he should not have a good career as a liverpool player.

{Ed001's Note - I like him a lot, he was a quiet boy but is coming out of his shell now as he grows in confidence. I have really high hopes for his future.}

2.) 24 Aug 2020 13:42:06
Looking forward to seeing Jones get more game time next season. He still has a battle on his hands though to get that game time. At the moment it looks like he is replacing Lallana in the squad and he didn’t exactly feature much last season. I think Jones will get more opportunities next season but I think he will need to be patient still.

3.) 24 Aug 2020 14:12:48
He indeed will still need to be patient because he won't get as many games as he wants so am I been wrong here in saying, I think him going to another premier league club on loan would be best for him? Somewhere who would guarantee him regular game time, that's what he needs and that's something he isn't going to get here just yet. See how he does, if he does well then next season we gradually push him in.

4.) 24 Aug 2020 14:54:19
Depends on the circumstances, Salah mate. Normally, I would agree with you, but with us not having any money, and the season being compressed with games coming thick and fast, I think he's got the opportunity to get a decent level of playing time, learn the liverpool way, and then perhaps get a full season loan next year. He's only 19 (I think), so even at 20 next year he's still young, will have decent experience, and by the time he returns at 21, he'd be a top player I reckon.

5.) 24 Aug 2020 15:41:36
I know it's big praise but he reminds me of Steve McManaman.

6.) 24 Aug 2020 17:59:19
I think there's a bit of Adam lallana about him. I know that's probably a lazy comparison, but he plays on the left of the front 3 or l in cm. He can tackle quite well for a slight lad and gets goals.

And I don't think so salah mate. I think he's good enough to get games for Liverpool this season. He's just beyond the point where a loan would be best for him. I think fighting for a place is best for him as I think he'll win that fight quite a lit.

7.) 24 Aug 2020 19:22:06
Arrogance is fine if you can back it up, but Jones thinks he is the bees knees, he ignores and doesn't even speak to the younger guys in the U17s. from an LFC youngster who I know personally.

8.) 25 Aug 2020 02:42:14
K heard he was a quiet lad at school. Not arrogant at all by all mean.

30 Dec 2019 23:32:49
Hi Ed’s

Really interested in the response that Gomez is close to being back to last seasons form.
Another question do you think that Keita is getting back towards the player at Red Bull now or at least showing signs he’s trying too.
I only ask as big things were expected and I was really excited when we signed him.
I have read comments about our change in style and his difficulties in adjusting to our country.

Thx

Andy O.

Andy O

{Ed001's Note - he is certainly showing signs of the player he was, but not at that level just yet. There he was immense, so he has a way to go. He is looking good though and hopefully he will keep improving. Some players do find it difficult to adjust and Keita is one of those, certainly seems to be adjusting nicely now!}

1.) 31 Dec 2019 09:42:17
His feet are so good, he seems to have this way of getting judged by a defender, looking like he’s going to fall over but use that to beat the man, it’s strange, but effective!
Still think he doesn’t look 100% fit in terms of pace and sharpness so definitely has more to give, but he seems to be finding the net now also which must help his confidence. Hopefully a big 2020 for him.

What is Oliver Kahn up to these days Ed’s- would he be available as a coach? I know he did some form of coaching or something in China, or is he just a pundit these days. He was a hell of a keeper though

Thx

{Ed001's Note - no idea but being a good player does not make them a good coach.}
