Remember when Rodgers tried to warn Van Gaal about the premiership, talking about how we only need 2 defenders, in addition to getting cocky about conceding less goals? It's all come back to bite him in the backside - who would have predicted it? The club should put a ban on him speaking. It's embarrassing.

With top 4 looking extremely unlikely, 1 top 4 finish in 3 seasons is far from good enough with the money he's spent. He has to go in my opinion.

Obviously a disappointing day, but why say this now it's so easy after a defeat, also remember the club didn't help Rodgers by selling our best player last season.

2.) 22 Mar 2015 19:53:18
they gave him money to replace him and he failed to do so so not sure why you are blaming the club Mighty Reds

3.) 22 Mar 2015 19:53:58
But the club helped BR giving him vast amounts of money.

4.) 22 Mar 2015 20:06:49
I am not saying that Rodgers has not spent money, and some of his buys have not been great but also you need to keep your best players and let that group grow, I am not saying that Rodgers is perfect but he should be judged at the end of the season, it was our first defeat in the league since December, still a lot of football to be played yet let's have some perspective.

{Ed002's Note - Suarez was desperate to leave Liverpool, got involved in racial and biting issues (twice) being given three lengthy bans. He dragged the name of the club through the mud and spent more than a year trying to work out an exit - even preferring to go to Arsenal. He threatened the club with legal action - something he has done before. You should be more than glad the runt has gone from the club.}

5.) 22 Mar 2015 20:15:10
I am still not sure LVG did better job than BR this season based on who we lost last summer and how much money we spent. If Sanches would come to us or we could afford to buy Di Maria we were above them today. let's wait to the end of the season adn also see what we do in the FA cup. BR did a great job in 2015 despite today, even his greatets critics will have to admit that (I used to be one of them). Taking the FA cup will be good enough for me to keep him even if the leage campaign wasn't a success.

6.) 22 Mar 2015 20:21:31
He's only had a quarter billion to spend, AG- not really all that much now is it?

7.) 22 Mar 2015 22:28:10
Steph 1, replace Suarez with who? Which player, that was available and willing to come to Liverpool, would have been a replacement? A 30+ goal scorer who would also create 10+ goals for others to score?

8.) 23 Mar 2015 00:35:13
We've been through the 'who else could we have bought' nonsense a million times already. There are loads of very good players to be had in world football, yet apparently the best we could agree on was the guy who does what he wants.

9.) 23 Mar 2015 02:25:33
Spot on, Fano! Really easy to kick a man when he is down. I bet the same people giving him grief now are the same who hailed him as a genius. Granted he did not perform tactically and got out coached today but to use such BS to berate him now when we all need to stick together, is cowardly, IMO. Let's wait and see at the end of the season.

10.) 23 Mar 2015 08:18:53
Ed002 - we couldn't keep him if he was desperate to go I agree but i don't think there is one fan that would be extatic to see him back with us. As far as I am concerned he could have run with only his underwear in the streets of London 3 times a week shouting obseinity about liverpool the city of the club or otherwise. if he had been willing to stay I would give him as much money he asks for plus captaincy and job for life in the club. No better way to demonstrate the difference between us with and without him than the MAnU games. 2:0 to us last year, 2:0 to them this year. And yes this is what matters.

{Ed002's Note - It shows the new breed of Liverpool fan I guess. In days of yore the hobnail-booted Liverpool fans would have donned their cloth caps and ridden any player who had dragged the club in to the gutter and threatened court action whilst trying to engineer a move to Arsenal out of town on a rail.}

We're on a good run of form with Balotelli improving slightly and Rodgers comes out and creates more unnecessary baggage for the club. He's a complete liability with the media

who is the LFC communications officer ? he needs to be sacked for allowing Brendan Rogers alone in front of TV and radio to make stupid rash statements which under mine players and most importantly the football club. Brendan should be reprimanded over his comments on Mario we have a player who is only just coming to terms with what LFC are bout and showing signs of finding some form and he once again single him out for criticism poor man management

2.) 21 Feb 2015 13:16:46
Ed when you say miffed at him again. Which him? BR for talking about it? Gerrard for publicly criticising? Or Mario?

I understand BR has said Mario WAS the pen taker? The only one of the three causing a problem then would be SG, for airing something on TV, if BR was correct.

I don't see the problem with having a striker wanting to score? He is better then Hendo in that situation. Only SG has caused damaged by going on and on about disrespect. What the hell is he doing in the pundit chair on match day?

{Ed002's Note - Balotelli for causing yet more disruption.}

3.) 22 Feb 2015 00:34:45
If BR says Balo was the peno taker then where`s the beef? It was a non issue IMO, because we have seen this done many times. It was only a big issue because it was Balo and SG didn`t do his job as club capt and let it roll over his back hence, had to make comments that were later debunked by BR. Just my opinion!

You would assume if Rodgers gets the boot, it'll be at the end of the season (no top manager is going to leave their club mid season). I'd imagine he'd only get sacked if we didn't get top 4 (although I'm aware of the promises Ed002 said he'd made to FSG). No champions league would mean forgetting your Klopp's and Simeone's. Frank De Boer would probably be the highest profile manager that might be achievable.

Dear me, what is Rodgers playing at with his recent comments on Balotelli? He's struggling yes - but what is the need in coming out basically saying he was the last resort, a risk etc etc. Whilst we probably know that - how is it going to help by coming out saying it publicly? That's hardly going to motivate Mario is it? Is he already making Balotelli the scape goat for poor team performances? Our problems on the pitch are far more than the strikers to be honest.

Someone needs to take BR to the side and a have a word about how he deals with the media - he improved slightly last season but he's made some very strange comments this season

Ed002 - seeing as though Sanchez seems unlikely now, any idea about who Liverpool may see as an alternative?

Amit

{Ed002's Note - I have explained about all of the players I see Liverpool as having an interest in. Lallana has signed already. I think the expectations of the fans for a dozen or so new players is a long way off target.}

We've needed a DM ever since Mascherano left. Unfortunately Brendan thinks he knows best on this and doesn't need one. If you listen back to that interview he did with various fan groups when he first came in, he described the player for that role as a 'controller' rather than someone with steel who would break up play etc. I'd be very surprised if a DM was brought in.

I'm surprised certain clubs bother dealing with us after offering stupidly low prices for players - it's plain disrespectful.

Hearing him talk over the last couple weeks, he seems confident he'll still be here next season. Seems like he's getting his way anyway with the moves for Ings and Milner. Another season of mediocrity beckons.

Poor Brendan ay? Let's all feel sorry for him. He's more to blame than anyone else for us not qualifying for the Champions League this season. He's been an utter embarrassment this season in more ways than one.

Here you go Mike - found this from a little while ago from Ed. Things may have changed since.

{Ed002's Note - There will be all sorts of realistic targets and the club are sensibly taking the time to plan the way forward. In the longer term, if Brendan Rodgers were ever to leave you might want to consider:
(a) De Boer - a favourite of Ed001 who he dreams of)

(b) Rafa Benitez (mentioned to me by a prominent sports lawyer on the way the some meetings in Monaco with me last Monday)

(c) Laudrup (preferred as part of a team by someone close to the situation). There will be plenty of other options.}
