James Pearce reporting Davies deal done - Van den Berg going the other way on loan.

Adz28

1.) 01 Feb 2021 05:46:33
This Ben Davies deal could end up being a very smart bit of business I think. ALso indicates we have a big money move for a CB lined up for the summer as Davies will probably be a backup only. VVD, Gomez, Davies and a top quality first choice CB signing (Konate/ Diego Carlos) is good enough for me.

{Ed001's Note - or that Klopp still trusts in Matip?}

2.) 01 Feb 2021 06:00:48
What's the point of keeping Matip though? He is brilliant when fit, but his injury problems are as bad as Keita's. There is no stability at the back when we keep chopping and changing our CBs time and again. It just makes sense to get someone with a better fitness record and build from there.

{Ed001's Note - I wasn't saying that, I was just saying that you were claiming it indicated something but that it was much more likely that it did not indicate any such thing.}

3.) 01 Feb 2021 06:21:57
Aah ok. Poor choice of words from my end. My OP was more to do with what I would like to see happen in the summer.
The only way we should be keeping Matip is if he accepts a pay as you play deal. If not, might be very difficult to find a buyer anyways.

{Ed001's Note - if we can replace him, then I would defo offload him. It wouldn't matter if he was better than Beckenbauer and Maldini combined, his fitness issues make him a liability. The only reason to keep him is if they can be solved, which seems unlikely as they have been getting worse.}

4.) 01 Feb 2021 10:26:15
Does klopp think we can pump cement into matip and all of a sudden he is solid? Bullcrap he can't be trusted .

5.) 01 Feb 2021 12:02:22
Sadly Matip is made of glass, curly wurleys and lollipop sticks. Good player if they can swap the glass for titanium from Van Dyke DNA.

6.) 01 Feb 2021 13:49:18
Curly Wurly's are very flexible and can be tough enough to brake, can we go with Crunchies as he unfortunately seems to crumble easily 🤣.

06 Apr 2020 16:05:19
So. The Atlantic reporting that FIFA are going to extend the deadline for Leagues to complete the 19/ 20 season indefinitely. The priority seems to be that leagues should finish the season in progress before starting new seasons.

Thank god sanity may possibly prevail.

05 Jul 2017 23:03:42
Hi Eds, sorry if this is old news, but I was wondering if any club came in for Flanagan? I know you were all pretty sure his time was done, but is there any firm interest?

Adz28

{Ed002's Note - Nope.}

1.) 05 Jul 2017 23:25:03
Thanks for the response.

{Ed002's Note - A decision will need to be made whilst the transfer window is open.}

2.) 06 Jul 2017 12:03:18
We should try him out in place of Clyne during pre-season to see if he can replace him. If not, then he should be sold. Be nice to see an academy product in the team.

3.) 06 Jul 2017 12:14:53
johnny i think we will have TAA as the rotationplayer for clyne/ milner.

Flanagan looked promising a few years back but injurys set him back a few times and i don't think he will be even second choice anymore.

On todays market we could get around 5-7 mio for him and if we get an offer we should take it.

4.) 06 Jul 2017 13:40:52
Flano is not a crosser of the ball and this is what Klopp needs in the modern wingback. I'm afraid his time is up. Unless he wants to keep him as backup which is doubtful, since we already have a much more capable and promising youngster in place.

16 Mar 2017 14:15:51
Some online sources and italian sources (tuttomercatoweb) recirculating rumours that Klopp has "identified" Mahrez as his #1 target for the summer. Is there any credibility to this? Last year the man looked amazing, this year he has looked lost at times and is, apparently, one of the names behind the ousting of Ranieri. Even if it is true, is he even someone we want at the club?

Adz28

{Ed002's Note - Juventus has a declared interest in Riyad Mahrez but I am not aware of Liverpool showing any interest - and again it makes no sense unless Mane is leaving. Efforts I am aware of relate to left wingers where the club is seen as short.}

1.) 16 Mar 2017 17:41:49
Thanks for the response Ed.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

2.) 17 Mar 2017 06:29:39
Is Ojo seen as an option across other positions rather than on the left or is he not considered good enough? Sorry just the age of some of the names floating around isn't much more than him so seems odd.

{Ed002's Note - I don't know if Klopp doesn't think he is ready but he has chosen not to use him. He can also play on the right.}

3.) 17 Mar 2017 21:11:12
Mahrez might be worth a shout but only as long as his head is in the right place. Set pieces would benefit so much and he'd link up well with Bobby and Adam.

Think Couts main position will be in midfield should Mahrez come, and Mané move to the left.

There is a lot of talk right now about how we are going to crush Utd, and jeering at their poor start to the year.

I think we should all be careful of hubris. We did not exactly cover ourselves in glory last week, and Fulham could easily have been three up before the half against us.

I want to see a more complete performance today. We have big question marks over our midfield and there is an opportunity for one of the youngsters to really step up. or Naby to finally prove he is worth the time and money spent on him.

First home game of the new year - a complete performance - discipline in the pass and off the ball.

Then, maybe, we can turn hungry eyes towards Utd.

I just don't think it will be as easy as everyone is thinking. we have a lot to get right and prove yet.

Adz28

1.) 15 Aug 2022 12:05:51
Gomez and Vvd to start for the first time at centre half since we were beaten by Villa 7-2. So for them as a partnership the only way is up ?.

2.) 15 Aug 2022 13:09:33
Is it really their first partnership from that game? Seems long time ago to be true.

3.) 15 Aug 2022 13:12:40
I agree Adz, its fun watching United implode but we need to be careful. We play rubbish tonight and Palace win we go in to the United game with the real possibility they could be above us after game 3. Football is a funny old game. In all reality I fully expect a win tonight and next week against United, but if the worst happens we will have to take it out he chin as United fans have.

4.) 15 Aug 2022 13:20:32
Mart it is mate. Vvd was injured the very next game against Everton alongside Matip. Gomez didn’t start a league game at centre half at all last season mate only at RB.

5.) 15 Aug 2022 13:26:58
OP, this was the same rubbish that was posted on SM before the CL final vs RM last season and we all know what happened. Then afterwards, these same fans prolly started cursing out the whole team and digging out players they don’t like and slating Klopp and the owners cos they bought into the hype they themselves had created. They are doing the same thing now and I implore people on here to NOT fall for it. One game at a time and the rest will be fine. Besides, why bother with bottom feeders anyway? We have bigger fish to fry.

6.) 15 Aug 2022 14:18:09
Well if we don't get three points tonight it won't be because of a "dry pitch", besides doing our own watering of the pitch as the home team, it's been raining all day in Liverpool, so the ball should zip more to our liking, but also Palaces as well.

Crystal Palace have improved vastly under Viera, indeed he took CP to the Semi Finals of the FA Cup this year, and had they beat Chelsea would of been our opponents in the Final, they also had 55% of the ball possession versus Arsenal in their first game of the new season, and had they taken two very good chances would of got a deserved draw.

Nobody needs reminding also that Zaha on his day can cause a lot of damage if allowed, although i would love a repeat of our 7-0 win over CP (2020 away) i will take any LFC win come what may, as i class this as a difficult home start because of our injuries and the performance against Fulham.

What has to cease straight away is the "DISGUSTING" habit of having conceded the first premier league goal to our last five premier league opponents Spurs, Villa, Southampton, Wolves and Fulham indeed in two of those games the opposition scored after 3 minutes (Wolves and Villa) only schoolboy sides concede after three minutes, that very bad habit has to cease immediately, if we are to be successful in the future.

7.) 15 Aug 2022 15:01:24
If Brentford and Brighton are good enough to beat utd then so are we.

8.) 15 Aug 2022 15:02:24
007 we won two trophies last season - head wobble coming your way.

9.) 15 Aug 2022 15:19:35
Speaking of head wobbles imagine the posters who were slating Real before the CL final saying they’re a team of has beens then coming on here and criticising others for doing the exact same thing.

Couldn’t make it up. Short term memories.

10.) 15 Aug 2022 15:53:17
All depends on Liverpool. If we show up to our maximum ability and effort we beat anyone.
Vs Real, Fulham, we didn’t and messed up.

11.) 15 Aug 2022 16:09:33
Get tonight out the way first, give United something to think about.

12.) 15 Aug 2022 16:44:41
LfcMAD, Bet your "head wobbled" after Fulham and Real Madrid scored first as LiverpoolFC8 has alluded too, it's far easier to win a game of football if you don't concede a goal, as then you only need one goal to win the game yourself.

I wondered why you had "MAD" in your poster name, no explanation needed, it's self evident.

13.) 15 Aug 2022 17:07:37
On the Utd game they’re planning a mass protest and are urging their fans not to attend the actual game and we’ve returned 2,700 of our allocation as well.

14.) 15 Aug 2022 22:32:29
who cares about beating united is there a beat united cup? type of thing we’d celebrate 10 years ago. Beat them we might finish slight closer to city but we’re playing for nothing in the league already. We’ll need to win 20+ in a row.

15.) 16 Aug 2022 01:28:09
007 your no bond but u slide that u are. And no I’m not mad I’m actually really calm and rationale but you seem to be one of these posters that turn up when things aren’t going great. So I guess we won’t see you next week.

Absolute class and makes Kane reaction look even more pathetic (didn't think that could be possible! )

2.) 20 Dec 2021 13:25:38
Kane thinks he won the ball, the ball is the round thing Harry.
He gets away with crap all the time, other players, e. g Xhaka, would have got a 10 game ban for this.
Football is getting harder to watch week by week.

3.) 20 Dec 2021 15:33:06
Now contrast this class response to the perpetrator of the physical attack on Robbo who prolly went to bed yesterday convinced he got the ball.

4.) 20 Dec 2021 15:54:00
Not surprise Oli. I mean he swore on his child's life to claim a goal. It tells you all you need to know about him. He's a fraud of a Captain and Robbo in contrast, pure class!

25 Sep 2021 14:28:21
Careful what you wish for, Ole. you got your penalty, but you have to score them!

Adz28

1.) 25 Sep 2021 15:58:33
How ironic he complains they don’t get one. 93rd min no less they get one and miss it pmsl klopps in all their heads.

2.) 25 Sep 2021 23:37:19
The worst thing is that Klopp is just living his life while these lot are having nightmares about him.

Not the first time he's helped someone out either. Nice gesture. Some people bare a grudge for a not very nice moment of madness he had but he's done some very nice things as well.

{Ed0666's Note - credit where credit is due it was a thoroughly nice gesture and he didn’t have to do it.

2.) 30 Jul 2021 22:08:19
It was a very nice gesture from a stuck up himself ex player.

3.) 30 Jul 2021 23:02:35
The man definitely needs to rack up the good deeds but fair play to him it was a lovely thing to do and it will make a real difference to the family.

Liverpool Twitter Feed has klopp saying Matip out for rest of season.

Pretty certain the Andre Silva of frankfurt is no Diego Jota's brother. His brother, also named Andre Silva, plays for Boavista and is 5 years younger than the one who plays for Frankfurt.

HI Ed02,

Do Curtis Jones and Neco Williams not count as Home Grown. or are they not registered because they are U21?

Adz28

{Ed002's Note - They are under 21 so.

The man has 18 months left on his contract. There is talk of him moving in the summer, but there may well be a contract offer on the table by then. Who knows? But talk of him going is about 18 months premature.

I think the no loans comment was more about Ryan Kent, not Harry Wilson. I think they were more concerned that Wilson needed guaranteed game time rather than no loan.

Adz28

{Ed0333's Note - correct. Klopp said words to the effect that no more loans for Kent better for player and club for him to be sold.

Current trending on social media says that it is Man Utd. One "journalist" went so far as to say that he had already signed. MUFC account says that Mourinho is interested but reports of an agreement are not true.

Now, bear with me here. I do not think that Kluivert was a red card, in the same way that neither Jones nor Mac Allister should have been.

It looks like a red card when you slow it down and freeze frame at the point of contact, but if you look at the whole thing in real time, it was incidental contact from a player who was off balance from previous tussle with Mac Allister.

If that had been given as a red to one of our players I would have been angry, because all year long we have accused the refs of not looking at incidents in context and just making things look worse with freeze frams of moments in time (think Calvert-Lewin) .

Maybe, just maybe, they got this one right? (Let the sparks fly)

Sorry. didn't we bring in a young and talented RB in the summer. Calvin Ramsay anybody? Also. why get rid of Jones? No he may never be a world class legend (though time may tell) but he bleeds for the team and that means just as much. We can't fill the squad with 100 million pound starters. only 11 can be on the field at any one time you know.

I have always been of the belief that the team selected in the final should be required to have been selected in previous rounds.

I always thought it was BS that bigger clubs, that had no respect/ care for the competition, let their kids and backups get them to the final - and then suddenly it is important and they send out the big dogs.

The players that got them there should play and come what may.

Isn't Dele Ali a huge fan of the club though? Maybe that plus Klopp, would see him regain the form he once had?
