i just watched the 2005 Champions league cup final highlights. gave me goosebumps and a huge smile!

I watched the whole game with my partner (I must give credit, because we’ve not missed a single competitive game for 3,5 years now), who apparently was not sure of the outcome (but remained positive due to me wanting to watch it again) .

And we rejoiced.

A bit weird to watch old games, but it’s ok to stroll down Memory Lane on occasion right, especially in times like these.

2.) 27 Apr 2020 16:37:55
You've not missed a game for 3 and a half years but your partner was unsure of the outcome of the greatest comeback in a Champion's League final which gave us our 5th title?
I'm confused, but I approve of your use of Margaret Lanterman for your avatar.

3.) 27 Apr 2020 17:45:12
Ahhhh four people per square metre. Those were the days.

4.) 27 Apr 2020 19:04:41
Bakedbeanboy,
A shocking story, right? Does ’someone’ not listen to what I have to say? Or what do I generally talk about, if not CL2005?

5.) 27 Apr 2020 20:24:16
Been watching some old games myself, OP. Last Friday, I watched our game vs Newcastle at St James' Park from last season. I also watched the Spurs game from last season at Anfield (where Lloris' error gave us the W) .

After rewatching those games, I had to ;pinch myself at the the realization that this current gang or Reds are the mentally toughest team I have seen in quite a while. Their ability to keep fighting, keep going regardless of the adversity they face, all while remaining focused and calm with mayhem all around them, is something to behold. True Mentality Monsters, indeed.

hi, this is for Ed001 if you're about?

just wanted your opinion on Curtis Jones. i've liked how comfortable he appears in possession and seems to use the ball quite smartly. and appears he has a decent shot! are the club/ Klopp looking to develop him into a first team regular? he seems ready for more minutes i think. or is being developed to be sold?

cheers mate.

1988Red

{Ed001's Note - he is seen as having a future with the club and there are no plans to move him on. That is why he has made the bench a few times recently.}

1.) 07 Jan 2020 09:08:25
Of all the youngsters he seems to be the closest to breaking into the squad. Personally, I wouldn’t want to see him go out on loan but game time is always invaluable. What worries me is that we’ve seen a lot of youngsters in recent times go out on loan to never return. Woodburn, Wilson to name just a few. Curtis looks a lot closer to first team than they did though.

2.) 07 Jan 2020 13:05:22
Jones looks far closer to the first team than either Woodburn or Wilson ever looked. If we were forced to play him in league games due to injury i would not be worried one bit. I fully expect him to take Lallana’s place in the squad once he leaves.

3.) 07 Jan 2020 13:50:24
I believe he has more than shown he can give us valuable minutes and with key players like Milner and Fabinho out not to mention the littany of recovering/ tired players, I can't imagine Jones only getting FA cup games.

4.) 07 Jan 2020 14:11:20
i agree, even if he's getting on for the last 15 or 20 to rest some legs. id not be worried by that!

5.) 07 Jan 2020 21:37:28
Agreed. Thing is we have some fantastic midfielders.

6.) 07 Jan 2020 22:51:33
The fact he can play centrally or in a more advanced role too is a real bonus for us, can see him being a cracking player for us.

After all this talk of a left winger, What are peoples thoughts on Albert reina (spelling)? the spanish left winger benitez bought.

i felt a class wide man was the only thing missing from that team could of/ should won the league with a quality winger.

but i really liked hm, not a worldy but pretty direct and did the simple thing pretty well.

1.) 05 Jun 2017 15:35:31
Didn't rate him personally.

2.) 05 Jun 2017 15:49:39
I rated him soon fell out of favour though.

3.) 05 Jun 2017 15:51:40
Riera. He was okay. Not particularly fast, but enough to get the ball upfield and strike in decent crosses. Something happened and he ran afoul of Benitez and the next thing you know he was frozen out of the team and then shipped out.

4.) 05 Jun 2017 16:05:56
He fell out with Rafa and called the club a sinking ship under him. He was sold to turkey.

5.) 05 Jun 2017 15:55:01
Riera unbelievable debut v Man Utd then never really hit those heights again! I think the away kit in those days was pretty much the same as next seasons.

6.) 05 Jun 2017 15:56:20
Didn't hit spearing or a youngster anyway in a training game for a tackle made on him? After that he was shipped out.

Evening all,

Quick quw=estion for Ed1 if you're about. Why do you think Harry Wilson has nt been given a chance from the bench this season, inspite of his electric form at u23's?

1988Red

{Ed001's Note - because others moved ahead of him early on and putting him in the first team squad means, usually, having to pull him out of the U23s squad. It is felt he would benefit more from a full game than the odd cameo.}

1.) 11 Mar 2017 13:43:41
He also had a bad injury last season so Klopp would not seen anything onto this season.

27 Oct 2016 10:30:12
i have to say one of my favourite developments this season is seeing Llanna turn into a really important player for us. having not been bothered if he were to go at the start of the season i feel the team really needs him. i think in years to come he and his Liverpool career will be looked upon with a fond and positive light.

1988Red

1.) 27 Oct 2016 11:06:17
I couldn't agree more, to be honest I was hoping we would've offloaded him in the summer because he did nothing for us, now it's a different story, Klopps made him a vital team member, fair play to the lad, he's really stepped up his game and is up there with mane, firmino, coutinho etc. top player and will probably only improve.

2.) 27 Oct 2016 11:16:21
I think we've got players who play well together and bring out the best in each other. I think Wijnaldum has helped.
Credit to Klopp for achieving this. Lallana has always had great technique.

3.) 27 Oct 2016 11:42:36
Yes Ron I must admit I like wijnaldum. He's turning into a top player for us, started slow but definately getting there.

4.) 27 Oct 2016 11:49:40
You could say he cruyff turned his career around. :/ at least I try.

5.) 27 Oct 2016 12:25:34
Agreed. there is a mix happening with each player complimenting the other with out there being an 11 of world class stars. feels like we have a team again. and again i was unsure about the acquisition of wiji, but again he is proving to be a vital component.

6.) 27 Oct 2016 14:16:34
I have a sneaky suspicion Can is about to replace Wiji in the first 11.

7.) 27 Oct 2016 16:06:17
Wijnaldum has not been a top player for us. Coutinho Mane and Firminho have and he's been nowhere near their standard.
Cans In ahead of him for me and I expect Klopp to keep the same starting 11 he started with at West brom that didn't include wijnaldum.

8.) 27 Oct 2016 17:03:39
I don't know if it's because of the number of games that they've played together or just a chemistry, but we are capable of beating any team that is in front of us, with that five of Firmino, Coutinho, Mane, Lallana and Wijnaldum. The movement and intercorossing of positions works seamlessly. Just the way I see it. Somehow it doesn't work as well when Can is in for either Lallana or Wijnaldum. And it certainly doesn't work as well when Sturridge is in for any of them. I'm not commenting on Can's and Sturridge's talent - that is very apparent and unquestioned. It's just how those 5 seem to play with each other.

In the end only the results matter. If Rodgers had played 5 attack minded players in midfield with no defensive midfielder, we would all have screamed murder. Klopp is doing it and most of us are screaming not to "change a winning team". Funny.

9.) 27 Oct 2016 17:42:00
^Klopp played a fit again can against West brom. We played well. Henderson had far more support. We were a lot more balanced. Wijnaldum is a passenger so the arguments for him are entertaining. No substance. Just wijnaldum looks a top player. Not one comment as usual outlining what he does.

10.) 27 Oct 2016 18:45:24
For me, I'm appreciating Wijnaldum more and more. He's nice and tidy with possession, moves the ball well, has a good engine, works hard and he's getting into positions to score. I thought against Spurs he was a real example to the young lads and stood out for a lot of things he was doing without the ball. I'm glad we have him.

11.) 27 Oct 2016 19:22:49
Wijnaldum and Lallana have been a great combination this season. I didn't think we were as threatening against WBA.
Wijnaldum has been a great signing so far and will only improve. Can't wait for him to get his first goal, the floodgates will open 😎.

12.) 27 Oct 2016 19:41:18
Wijnaldum is an offensive midfielder hardly supports his partner Henderson. Can is also in the same mould. Both doesn't have that defensive capabilities.

after Jones displays in the last two games id say we look decent in the middle, also at the back. The front looks pretty solid too with origi and minamino putting in a couple decent displays!
