Hello Ed 02. Thank you for a great season of insights again. You call it straight, as fans sometimes we can't see the wood for the trees but you tell it as it is and thank you for that. No doubt there'll be the usual occasional meltdowns in here over the Summer but please know that you are hugely appreciated in here.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks.}

Just curious; we’ve been linked with quite a few midfielders but primarily De Paul, Bissouma and Neuhaus. Would you think it’s possible we’d sign any or even two of them given that Gini is gone, Keita and Shaqiri are likely for sale; plus the likes of Grujic, Wilson etc and we have James Milner and Fabinho and Jordan Henderson all looking more injury prone as the years tick by. Obviously Curtis Jones will get more game time but wondering if we’d move for two younger midfielders this Summer finances providing.

{Ed002's Note - Only one of the high end options would be signed I would think.}

I think the ideal scenario is that you want two bodies for each position. Bissouma, should he sign god willing, will play mostly in Gini’s old role but can also cover Fabinho. So for the sake of the point i’m trying to make, you have Fabinho/ Bissouma, Henderson/ Milner, Thiago/ Jones, and quite possibly Ox as well depending what happens there. Possibly more 7 bodies for 3 positions; more than enough. I get that the midfield is ageing but they’ll continue to play for a while yet so we don’t need to rush anything with players we have no game time for.

Also Thiago, Henderson and Fabinho will start every game when fit and is in contention for the strongest midfield in the world, so can’t expect them to be getting dropped for the other players.

As with the centre back position, no need to go too mad stockpiling players. The squad needs some replenishment with younger legs in areas affected by age and injuries, but none of the positions are at ‘crisis point’. Steady and gradual evolution is the way to go.

Thank you again. Would you have any preference for which midfielder would suit us best? I noted previously you rate De Paul highly? Would he have a higher ceiling than the other two in your opinion? Bissouma has acquitted himself very well in the division but I haven’t seen enough of the other two to be in a position to compare though.

{Ed002's Note - I think each of the players are good and Liverpool will make the effort to make this right - it will be the critical decision for me.}

Haven’t seen DePaul play but he is well rated on here so I’ll take that. I only rate Bisouma over him cos I have watched him closely for two years now and I think he is perfect for the Gini role as he is versatile, technically sound and has a child engine and will only improve with Klopp just like Gini did.
