Someone asked a question the other day about possible front 3s. I think I went for A, torres suarez and fowler. It got me thinking about torres, so I watched his 81 Liverpool goals. I absolutely loved torres at Liverpool and I think we'd have won the league if he had stayed fit. Shame (for us) that he went to that world Cup when he wasn't fully recovered but can't slate him for winning a world Cup.

But what a finisher the lad was. I remember his debut, Terry was screaming in his face and he stood up to him, then of course, scored the winner. I think suarez was more tenacious and fowler probably the more natural player, but torres was some finisher. Could score from anywhere and made it look easy. I think a torres in his prime would walk into any team in the world. Absolute class act.

Fowler was the best finisher. Natural born goalscorer.

Fowler had damn near everything in his locker. Aside from his ability to stick in the net, his movement, passing and link up play were outstanding when he was at his peak. Easily could've been a modern false 9 as well as the lethal outright striker he was. It's absolutely criminal that Houllier didn't get Owen to play off him properly.

Also youtube algorithms had me watching highlights from a few games from around 1998 - 1999 lately and I forgot what a beast Patrik Berger was on his day. Could just stroll through opposition players.

Was a big fan of Berger back then. I was about 10 when he signed and he instantly became one of my favourite players.

I loved berger too. Always liked smicer too but he didn't get as many games as he could have. I'm not taking away from fowlers footballing genius, I'm just saying what a finisher torres was, outstanding. Scored from 25 yards as easy as most score fromm 12 1/ 2 yards.
I don't think I've been as heart broken about a player leaving Liverpool. Was gutted when alonso left and Micheal Owen and Robbie fowler. I didn't know torres had effed his knee up and 50mil then was crazy money.

Liverpool have been blessed with phenomenal goalscorers in my lifetime. Starting with Rush, Aldridge, Fowler, Owen, Torres, Suarez, Salah.

As reds fans we've been on a roller coaster this last 30 years. Good Times and bad, good managers and bad. But we've always had top notch strikers. You could probably add coutinio to that list. Played as a forward for most of his anfield career. Heskey wasn't bad either, cisse, Luis garcia.
